About the Artist
WONDERFUL WORLD, A COMPANION PIECE TO SONGBIRD, is an anthology comprised of standout selections from Eva Cassidy's other, lesser-known CDs.
Included in this collection are "What a Wonderful World," originally on Cassidy's first solo album, LIVE AT BLUES ALLEY; "Kathy's Song," "Anniversary Song" and "Penny To My Name" from TIME AFTER TIME; "Say Goodbye," "How Can I Keep From Singing?" and "Waly Waly" from her studio album EVA BY HEART; "You've Changed" and "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" from her IMAGINE album; and "You Take My Breath Away" and "Drowning in the Sea of Love" from last year's critically-acclaimed CD, AMERICAN TUNE.
The opening and closing tracks of the new collection, "What a Wonderful World" and "Waly Waly," respectively, both contain new backing tracks recorded especially for this collection by Cassidy's original band members.
"We understand that many people may already have most or all of Eva's CDs," explains Blix Street President Bill Straw. "But, for those people who only have SONGBIRD, this anthology serves as an introduction to the other five Eva Cassidy CDs." Eva Cassidy died of melanoma at the age of 33 in November, 1996, months after the release of Live At Blues Alley. Although Cassidy was posthumously honored by the Washington Area Music Association as 1996's top female vocalist" in six separate musical categories and immediately voted into the WAMA "Hall Of Fame," it would be nearly five years before the world at large discovered the music of Eva Cassidy. After the initial release of Songbird and the re-release of Live At Blues Alley and Eva By Heart during the Spring of 1998, word of mouth began to spread around the globe. Time After Time was released in June, 2000, an NPR producer heard it and arranged for an Eva Cassidy segment on Morning Edition, broadcast in December of 2000, and Eva Cassidy CDs suddenly occupied the top four positions on the amazon.com pop music chart. Meanwhile in England, the Top of the Pops 2 television program aired Eva's Live At Blues Alley video performance of "Over the Rainbow," the clip aired again in January, 2001 due to overwhelming popular demand, and Songbird's run up the British Pop charts reached No. 1 on March 18, 2001. "Unknown American Singer Goes No. 1 In England Five Years After Her Untimely Passing" became news on American television. One by one, The Today Show, ABC News With Peter Jennings, CNN, among others, chronicled the bittersweet success of Eva Cassidy. ABC Nightline devoted an entire program to The Eva Cassidy Story, which received the greatest viewer response ever for a Nightline program and has so far been aired four times. Both Imagine (2002) and American Tune (2003) entered the British charts at No. 1, as Eva Cassidy became the first artist ever to achieve three posthumous British No. 1 albums. Of the six million Eva Cassidy CDs sold worldwide to date, Songbird accounts for half. Wonderful World provides a window into the five CDs that make up the other half.

It was GOOD but not WONDERFUL.......2007-07-31
I have almost all of IZs albums and that's the reason I bough this one. It was then, that I realized that it was "arranged" with a big orchestra. I guess it is OK to listen to because his voice and the orchestrations are nice on their own, but I'm not crazy about it because I cannot think they necessarily go toghether well. It is probably just me, but I like his voice and his ukalele sound much better. It is still GOOD, don't get me wrong...but it's just my preference. But I loved the presentation...the cover is beautiful!
Wonderful World.......2007-07-28
The music on this CD is absolutely wonderful. In my opinion, Iz is one of the all time greats, especially for Hawaiian music. I have all of his CD's, and play them over and over. I recommend his albums to everyone. I think once you listen, you will be hooked. Happy Listening.
BEAUTIFUL MUSIC FROM HAWAII'S BEST NATIVE SON.......2007-07-28
I LOVE IZ'S MUSIC! HE SING FROM HIS HEART TO YOUR SOUL. I HAVE MOST OF THE SONGS THAT ARE ON THIS CD HERE ALREADY BUT THIS CD HERE HAS HIM SINGING WITH AN ORCHESTRA. AHH THE MAGIC MIXERS OF OUR TIME. THE ORCHESTRA / IZ WHAT MORE CAN YOU WANT! BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL... A GIFT FROM GOD
WHAT!!.......2007-07-23
Why ANYONE would feel the need the "remake" or add to the music of IZ is way beyond me (other than the obvious - $$$$). Skip this one and pick up any one of his previous albums - Trust me, they're all you'll ever need!
it is a good cd .......2007-07-22
I think that this is a good cd with the music of IZ, it has somewhat of a softer feeling to it.

Never mind the project's odd couple, "He's got a girlfriend; so does she" marketing shuck. This is a musical love affair in all its splendor. Produced by the seemingly chameleonic producer T Bone Burnett (who previously revived traditional bluegrass with spectacular success on O Brother, Where Art Thou?), the septuagenarian legend and his unlikely contemporary foil affectionately court a dozen songs from the Louis Armstrong repertoire with the warmth and natural grace that have been a deceptively effortless Bennett trademark for 50-plus years. The pair kick proceedings off with a playful, irony-free "Exactly Like You," then perform a tender vocal waltz across both the ages and the masterful, sympathetic orchestrations of the late Peter Matz, one of Bennett's longtime collaborators. But it's on the more melancholy performances, like "If We Never Meet Again," "I'm Confessin'," and the Armstrong perennials "Wonderful World" and "Lucky Old Sun," that the pair tap into something akin to timeless musical telepathy. Her own talents hardly in need of burnishing, lang invests the project with some gratifying new smokiness and is rewarded with a postgraduate course in saloon singing for the ages. It's an album that begs the best kind of question: When do we get an encore? --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Tony & k.d........2007-05-07
Tony delivers his usual high standard performance, uniquely matched by k.d. whose voice is as mooth as a baby's bottom. Their blend is one no one would've thought to put together, but it works--it REALLY works. Even in light on TB's new albumn of duets, this older one is one of the best.
The Odd Couple Making Perfect Music Together.......2007-03-17
Tony Bennett and k.d. lang. Whooda thunk? Obviously they both knew they clicked when they sang together on Tony's earlier CD of duets. Thank the Lord for the follow up. This is probably one of the most beautiful duets CDs I've ever heard. Hell, it's probably the most beautiful CD I've ever heard. Period. There is a chemistry between these two that is magical, soulful, playful, loving and serious all at the same time. Two great singers. Two great interpreters. Not a bad song on the CD. Musical perfection! Ya also gotta love Tony for paying a heartfelt spoken tribute on the A Wonderful World cut to the muse behind this venture, Louis Armstrong.
A Wonderful World - Tony Bennett and K.D. Lang.......2007-02-21
This album is smooth, elegant and professional. The songs are are straight from the American Songbook. These two singers were meant to be together. You can actually hear it in their voices; they are having fun and enjoy singing this music together. If you like good music that is performed by two great artists, add this album to your collection.
Easy listening fare.......2007-02-16
I thought this was an odd pairing that might not work but I was definitely wrong. The reworkings of Louis Armstrong classics are timeless interpretations. K.D.Lang sounds as if she has been singing this type of music for decades. Naturally Tony Bennet is flawless with his silky smooth vocals remisniscent of Sinatra and a bygone era. The arrangements are quite nice, with great piano solos accompanied by horns that play in unison or dart out in solos with strings that soothe the savage beast. This is soft piano romantic music that does not require imagination, just two people in the mood for love. "I'm Confessin'(That I love you)" is a song that fits into the groove just mentioned. The give and take playful interplay between Lang and Bennet is right on time and comes across naturally. At times Lang sounds like another jazz songbird, Keely Smith. On possibly the most recognized Sachmo song and title track, "What a Wonderful World" there is a depth to the interpretation that transcends the original song. It is as though they concurr with Sachmo and want to honor his memory with a beautiful redo of his classic by making it even better. This is music for a quiet night to be with someone special, where you don't want the music to intefere with your romance but rather to enhace the mood. Get this disc, turn down the lights and listen to the songs over a nice candlelight dinner for a real treat.
A Wonderful World- Tony and K.D. duets.......2007-01-19
If you are fans of either, you won't be disappointed. As a fan of both, this cd is a great addition to other recordings of theirs and superior to the current Tony Bennett duet release "An American Classic".While that one is good also, some of the duet artist pairings feel strained stylistically. This is the beauty of his matchup with K.D.Lang on Wonderful World. Her voice and his flow musically as one. Not only are their talents equal, their feeling for the music and arrangements is in sync as well.

Customer Reviews:
Simply the Best Female Singer of My Generation.......2007-07-26
This CD will not dissappoint anyone who loves a great singer. Eva Cassidy has mastered several genres of music--the ballad, folk, country, gospel and rythym and blues. She has a voice with a range comparable to Mariah Carey. But best of all--she knows how to SING a song--not just hit the notes.
This CD is a sort of "best of" compilation, a companion to the CD "Songbird" and of equal quality.
Even though Eva Cassidy died in 1996 the music she left behind is a living presence. This is simply the most fascinating singer of my generation--tallent, emotion, depth--it is all there.
You can't go wrong with Eva Cassidy.......2007-03-20
I own every one of Eva Cassidy's CDs and this one is my favorite. I fell in love with her voice about 2 years ago when I heard her rendition of "Over the Rainbow", which still brings me to tears every time I hear it. However, when I heard the version "Waly, Waly" on this CD, I sobbed!! Eva Cassidy had such a way of bringing the heart of any song right up to the surface. She sang from her "gut" and this CD showcases that quality, as well as her humility. If you've never heard any of her music, I encourage you wholeheartedly to go for this CD, you will NOT regret it! She was phenomenal and even though she's gone, she still touches us.
Speechless.......2005-04-09
This album contains selections from every style of music and Eva masters all of them. Her voice is the most amazing instrument...at times powerful, at times soft and sweet. I am saddened to think that our world has lost someone so talented so prematurely. I listen to her CD's over and over and never get tired of them. I am in awe.
NO one compares.......2004-12-26
I purchased every last one of Eva's CD's after hearing her sing "Imagine" just less than a year ago... Any other artist who even tries to sing a song that Eva already recorded sounds like a cheap imitation of what was already perfected by Eva. Eva has it all! You cannot go wrong by purchasing ANY recordings of Eva Cassidy, who has the ability to move you to levels you never thought possible with the sound of her magical voice. WOW!
A great collection, although no previously unreleased tracks.......2004-08-26
People yet to discover the amazing voice of Eva Cassidy will want this album, perhaps after purchasing the first compilation "Songbird". However, I do believe this is a better compilation because it contains more of my personal favourites. One listen of her rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's "Kathy's SOng" will turn you into an Eva Cassidy fan. "Waly, Waly" is simply beautiful, with a haunting touch. Most fans will own all of the other albums, so buying this will be unnecessary as it contains all previously released material.
Tracks on this collection include:
1. What a Wonderful World (from Live At Blues Alley)
2. Kathy's Song (From Time After Time)
3. Say Goodbye (from Eva By Heart)
4. Anniversary Song (from Time After Time)
5. How Can I Keep From Singing? (from Eva By Heart)6. You Take My Breath Away (from American Tune)
7. Drowning in the Sea of Love (from American Tune)
8. Penny to My Name (from Time After Time)
9. You've Changed (from Imagine)
10. It Doesn't Matter Anymore (from Imagine)
11. Waly Waly (from Eva By Heart)
I would recommend purchasing "Live at Blues Alley" for those just new to Eva Cassidy.

Cynical types will accuse Disney of milking the "greatest" concept until it's drier than Tinkerbell's fairy dust ("Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious," "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da," and "Heigh Ho" were hits off of Vol. 1; "Bare Necessities," "It's a Small World," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come" stole the show on Vol. 2), but a glimpse of this installment's track listing is all it'll take to squash their suspicions. Once again running reverse-chronologically, Vol. 3 opens with Jonatha Brooke's gorgeously achy ballad "I'll Try," from 2002's arguably not-so-great Return to Neverland, and gradually reaches back through the years to re-raise the curtain on Toy Story 2 ("When She Loved Me," performed by Sarah McLachlan), The Lion King ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight"), Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews's classic "A Spoonful of Sugar"), Pinocchio ("Give a Little Whistle"), and a bundle of treasured others, bottoming out at 1933's "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" from The Three Little Pigs. Vol. 3 is not without its weak moments--would a G-rated movie-goers' poll produce Beauty and the Beast's "Gaston" or The Hunchback of Notre Dame's "Topsy Turvy" on a hits list? Seems unlikely. Still, the bulk of these tracks are, as the included Little Mermaid song goes, "Part of Your World," and the spread of decades they represent proves their staying power. Don't expect Disney to latch the lid on its inexhaustible archives until a dozen or so of these records, each as strong as the next, beckon you back for more. --Tammy La Gorce

Timeless Disney Music.......2007-05-07
Nothing brings sweet recollection of Disney movies like hearing the wonderful songs. In an age where there so much music with no redeeming qualities, these Disney CDs are priceless. Wonderful for the entire family to listen to around the house or in the car while traveling. We can't help but sing along. We love that these are the original tracks from the movies! Wonderful! We now have all three volumes.
Disney songs are the best.......2006-03-18
I love the songs on this volume. I'll Try by Jonatha Brooke is such an amzing somg. I especially bought this CD fort that song but, was pleasantly surprsed by the rest of the playlist.
Great Disney Music.......2006-02-21
I have bought the first 2 volumes of Disney's Greatest Hits and the 3rd volume doesn't disapoint. My 2 young children love to listen to this CD and talk about the movies that they come from. A definate must have!
Not as good as Vol 1 and Vol 2.......2005-09-11
This Disney CD represents the "leftovers" that didn't make it on Vol 1 and Vol 2 of this series. Although it has some of my favorites, I don't listen to the entire CD often. Disney could have done a better job of editing the which sound files should make the cut on this one. Still, it's nice to have all 3 CDs.

My Twins Song.......2007-01-23
I love this CD. My Father in law would sing this to my tiny twins while in the hospital & then onto when they came home & everyday he would hear it on the radio & just ring our phones & let it play thru the speakers. My Babies would be Fussy or crying & as soon as i turn this song on you would hear nothing absolutely nothing!!! After searching for the cd we found it & was given to him for a christmas gift however he didn't get to hear it he passed away on christmas day morning so unfotunately now that cd has been put! We all miss him dearly & know that he is in a better place & is watching over us right now!!!
what a wonderful world.......2007-01-13
Louis Armstrong reminds us through his voice what a simple and wonderful world we once had. This record is a classic - will never fade. Even my 6 year old son liked it.
A Wonderful CD!.......2007-01-03
You can't go wrong with a collection of songs by Louis Armstrong. What a Wonderful World, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Cabaret were the most familiar to me; but even those I did not know are great.
Great Recording!.......2006-11-06
Quality of the recording is excellent. Captures the essence of Louis Armstrong. We have enjoyed listening to it.

If one's notion of "world music" promises a touch of the exotic and indigenous, often overlooked is the fact that the influence of western pop music has seeped into every corner of the globe, creating a hybrid that's often more than merely the sum of its influences. Theater vet Brightman steps into that pan-cultural hall of mirrors here, wedding her fascination with the music and rhythms of the "forbidden places" (the title's Arabic meaning) of the Middle East to her own oft ethereal vocal charms and rock-solid sense of drama. And if the diva's equally sound crossover sensibilities (and that of longtime producer Frank Peterson) sometimes mire it in familiar world-beat pastiche, Brightman's charmed muse manages some transcendent moments nonetheless. Her musical borrowings (Borodin for the title track; Puccini's *Madame Butterfly* for "It's a Beautiful Day") are as compelling as her choice of collaborators: classical violin star Nigel Kennedy and Iraqi vocalist Kadim Al Sahir add compelling touches to the weary timeliness of "The War is Over." The musical influences range from Europe across the Mediterranean and as far East as the Indian roots of "Bollywood" composer A.R. Rahman's "The Journey Home" and Brightman's own "You Take My Breath Away" to evocative recastings of the emblematic standards "Stranger in Paradise" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World," while ex-Killing Joke keyboardist Jaz Coleman provides the savory East-meets-West orchestrations that ensure Brightman's star turns the seamless foundations they deserve. --Jerry McCulley

New to Sarah Brightman.......2007-03-12
I'm very new to Sarah brightman's music and I enjoy this CD. I think she has an amazing voice. Very talented young woman and this cd was very relaxing and joyful to listen to. I like to learn and heard more from Sarah Brightman.
Stranger in Paradise - More Like Stranger in a Lost Cause.......2006-12-30
I'm not throughly pleased with this album! This CD is only good if you know how to dance in a Middle-Easters fashion. About half of each track is dominated by all orchestrations and no Sarah. Plus, Pop-Sarah isn't really for me. I much prefer the Classical-Sarah. Some of the tracks are okay, like "Harem", "The Journey Home", "Beautiful", and "Stranger in Paradise". Really, this is a good CD for your collection, but I wouldn't listen to it on a 24/7 basis.
No voice like hers in the world.......2006-10-01
I own this cd. I saw her in person at the "Harem" concert. Never had I heard or seen any voice like this. What a performer, best concert I'd ever seen. Beautiful voice, I can never get enough of Sarah Brightman's music. It is so comforting at times. I have all her music and this cd makes you wonder, how can she top this? Thank you Sarah Brightman for giving us your beautiful gift of music.

Sarah is just the best, she can hit any note and her individuality shines on this CD. She sings "The Journey Home" from the musical Bombay Dreams and her voice just soars. "Harem", "Mysterious Ways" and "You Take My Breah Away" are songs that take me to dreamland. Amazing! A master piece!

THE BEST!!!!.......2007-07-24
ANY OF ANNE MURRAY'S ALBUMS ARE "THE BEST". SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL, CALMING VOICE THAT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.

Very pleased with the quality and the fast shipment. Thank you
White Girl Gospel.......2007-05-13
Thanks to Anne Murray, there's proof that white girls can raise a strong, warm voice in praise, too. I have happily given copies of this CD to my diversity of friends, and many of them have expressed happy surprise. Contains probably the best rocking version anywhere of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."
I love this CD!.......2007-03-16
I share this music with my patients during Sunday morning group therapy and have always gotten a positive response. Patients who have refused to talk to the nurses and the counselors find themselves wanting to open up and talk about themselves and how they want to work harder on improving their lives. My co-workers will ask me every Sunday "do you have the CD?" and we go about our duties singing along with Anne and praising God.
I cannot adequately describe the joy that listening to Anne Murray singing
God's praises brings to me. I seldom attend church, but I always take the time to play her music on Sunday mornings and commune with the Lord.
Co-workers listening from down the hall will gravitate to our unit just to
listen. Even the hard-core, profanity-driven ones find themselves in a better place, even if it is for a brief moment, when they are listening to
this CD.
Thank you, Lord, and bless you, Anne Murray!

Pure Gershwin was Michael Feinstein's first album, and it remains one of his best. It may not have the production values of his later Gershwin tributes, Nice Work if You Can Get It (1996) and Michael & George (1998), but it simply and directly presents Feinstein in his piano-bar days, singing to his own tasteful accompaniments with occasional contributions from bass and drums and a second piano. Establishing the patterns for his later albums, he sings unjustly neglected verses to familiar songs, uncovers some never-before-recorded gems ("The World Is Mine," "What Causes That"), and provides song-by-song notes. Longtime friend Rosemary Clooney guests on "Isn't It a Pity?" --David Horiuchi

this is good...and just to hear a REALLY GREAT "Isn't A Pity" duet with Rosie is well worth the price of admission. I REPEAT: just to hear a REALLY GREAT "Isn't A Pity" duet with Rosie is well worth the price of admission. listen & enjoy some great american music. you cant beat an Ira lyric.
A Wonderful CD.......2005-05-19
PURE GERSHWIN is just that, pure!. Feinstein interprets Gershwin the way it was meant to be performed. This is pure delight!
Quiet and elegant.......2003-04-20
Michael Feinstein's thin voice is compensated by his apparent enthusiasm for the material and a spare arrangement of piano, bass, and drum that gives this recording the ambiance of an intimate piano bar. Before hearing this disc, I knew only Gershwin's biggest hits, so many of the numbers here were new to me and increase my appreciation of that great American composer.
Disappointed.......2003-04-10
I bought this cd because I am a huge Gershwin enthusiast and am always on the lookout for versions of one of my favorite pieces, "Liza". I'd heard a lot of buzz about Feinstein and the supposed wonderfulness of his Gershwin interpretations, so I thought I would give this album a shot.
I was extremely disappointed. Feinstein seems to suck the life out of Gershwin's compositions, a feat I would have previously thought impossible. Though I concede that vocalists are free to reinterpret songs (many to a great success, as in Louis Armstrong's and Ella Fitzgerals's enjoyable versions of Gershwin), I think Feinstein's lazy tempos "loungy" voice make the tracks on this album boring and annoying.
I have loved to listen to and sing these songs my entire life. I just wanted to warn listeners who perhaps, like myself, enjoy George Gershwin's music for its beautiful clarity and energy (as easily experienced through Gershwin's own recordings, early interpretations by artists such as the Astaires, and even recent broadway "Crazy For You") that they will not experience any feeling of the sort from Michael Feinstein.
Amidst all the gushing that has recently been done over him, I found Michael Feinstein to have attempted to murder "Liza" and the other songs on this album. He merely displays a very unexceptional voice and poor interpretive taste. Fans beware, Feinstein proves that it is possible to make a bad cd of Gershwin songs. I'd recommend listening elsewhere.
they can't take that album away from me.......2002-05-09
they say the third time's a charm, but in this instance, it is the first time -- michael feinstein's first gershwin album -- that is the charm. this album is by far better and more listenable than the next two -- "feinstein sings gershwin" and "nice work if you can get it".
the listenability of this album may stem from the fact that it is a bare-bones arrangement, with two pianos, a bass and drums, a la a jazz trio, with no embellishment, so michael feinstein's then sincere and unsophisticated voice is the featured instrument.
i heartily recommend this album, as every song on it is a gem and feinstein's voice is more appealing than on the two later albums, when he jazzed it up with what sounds like an echo chamber and other electronic enhancements and he seems to be doing the songs by the numbers.
feinstein's version of "liza," slowed down to ballad form and plaintively phrased, is the best i have ever heard. the duet with rosemary clooney on "isn't it a pity," again brings out the best of feinstein's then-new voice and shows why george's (clooney) aunt is rightfully considered a jazz legend.
the combined "he loves and she loves/how long has this been going on" is another melodic/poignant highlight, while the album's finale, "someone to watch over me," is a stirring anthem to wanting and needing someone and is done with vocal and instrumental passion; it brings this collection of songs to a fitting crescendo.
for a lawyer's kid from columbus, ohio who started out cataloguing gershwin estate material for the reclusive ira and then began singing the songs for family and friends, michael feinstein has done all right for himself. he has become the recognized interpreter of the gershwin legacy, sort of the same way his pseudo-cousin, john, jr. feinstein, has become the recognized interpreter of the bob knight legacy... .
michael feinstein may have hit a home run his first time up with this album, and it may be his best, as it is the purest and most joyful celebration of gershwin tunes, while the others are fancier, more jazzed up and ponderous and less appealing.
the other albums are certainly not bad, though, and i recommend buying them to fill out a feinstein or gershwin collection, but this one is by far the best one to get if you are only going to get one as a sample of either's work. it is nice work, and you can get it.

With the seventh installment of Pavarotti & Friends: For Cambodia and Tibet, the beloved tenor assembles yet another all-star cast of musicians in hopes of helping the children of Cambodia and Tibet. The music of the pop stars--which ranges from the modern rock of the veteran Eurythmics to the dance-pop of Aqua--really steals the show here, with Pavarotti lending his impeccable vocal support. Tracy Chapman performs "Baby Can I Hold You" as a duet with Pavarotti, and Eurythmics team up with him on "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)." Of course, the tenor's fans will be begging to hear the opera great in his element, and it's no surprise that he shines on Bizet's "Agnus Dei," with international pop star Mónica Naranjo joining in; Eduardo Di Capua's "O Sole Mio," with Savage Garden; or even Luigi Denza's "Funiculi, Funicula," with Aqua and a children's chorus. As globetrotting benefit tributes go, this is a mixed bag, but there's probably something here for everyone. --Jason Verlinde
Customer Reviews:
Excellent video...........2002-10-13
I am a fan of Savage Garden, The Eurythmics, and George Michael - all of them did a great job with and without Pavarotti....
And the man who sang O SOLE MIO - Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden)... has the most beautiful- angelic- sultry and great voices I have ever heard - and to do it in Neapoliaton Italian (dialect) and in my opinion the best duet of ALL of them featured!!!!!
Great songs sung by a diverse group of artists.......2002-02-07
As always, Maestro Pavarotti's Modena concerts are highly entertaining and uplifting.
All artists sang two songs during the concert (one on their own and another with Maestro Pavarotti), but unfortunately not all of the songs are featured on this video. Another shortcoming is that there are no interviews or any extra footage.
It is funny to hear Pavarotti sing a pop tune as it is equally funny to see a pop singer with virtually no voice doing "O Sole Mio", but if it is all in good spirit and for charity, then it is enjoyable.
If you are intersted in European music scene or simply love Pavarotti, this tape will be a great treat for you.
Pavarotti's Best War Child Concert.......2002-01-04
Bravo showed this concert on New Years 2002 and it blew my mind. It is certainly the best of the War Child concerts, which started in 1996 as Pavarotti's effort to help the children of war-torn countries.
Like in the previous concerts, Pavarotti appears with international pop stars in the open-air piazza of his home town, Modena, Italy. (How do I get tickets for that?)
If you haven't heard any of these concerts, also available on CDs, you will be surprised how well Pavarotti's voice--a voice that makes the gods swoon--blends with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, George Michael, Tracy Chapman, and the Eurythmics. Previous concerts included B.B. King, Elton John, Ricky Martin, and Liza Minelli. Sometimes he sings along in English, sometimes in Italian counterpoint. The effect is stupdendous! These concerts display all the beauty of this great operatic voice while at the same time honoring the art of our greatest pop artists.
What makes this video the best is the children's chorus, the combined Ars Canto of Parmi, Italy, and the Children's Choir of Cambodia and Tibet. The video starts with this chorus joining Pavarotti and the totally sexy Enrique Iglesias in a rousing "Cielito Lindo."
Pavarotti really knows entertainment and in this one he pulls out all the stops! Best of all, part of the proceeds of this tape goes to benefit the children of Cambodia and Tibet. Pavarotti's efforts to help War Child have already built music centers for children in Kosovo, Liberia, and Guatemala. What great leadership!
He says on one of his jackets: "All too often, children are betrayed by the inhuman actions of adults, and become the innocent victims of war and cruelty. War Child is an energetic, and practical organization offering vital hope, working tirelessly for children to regain their rightful place in the world."
Very diverse! Loved it!.......2000-12-18
I am a HUGE Savage Garden fan so that was the main reason to buy this album. And I have to say Darren's voice is AWESOME in "O Sole Mio", the first time I listened to it it made me cry. So I bought the cd. I was glad to see that there are very enjoyable songs in the album not only the SG tracks. I loved Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" performance, now I am a Tracy fan too. You'll enjoy the performances by Aqua, Enrique Iglesias and Eurhytmics and of course the queen Tracy Chapman " ("Telling Stories" is superb!). I even discovered some new artists I had never heard of and I liked them. You won't be disappointed by this album.
A wonderfully enjoyable and diverse collection of music.......2000-11-05
This collection of music has given me great pleasure. Aqua's Around the World is a joy. Hearing the Eurythmics and Pavarotti perform together is fun and beautiful. I also especially liked Enrique Iglesias's Be with you. 20 tracks and 77 minutes of great music I will listen to again and again. And all for a good cause.

A love postcard from Paris to the rest of the world!.......2006-01-01
There have been successful albums of instrumental music along the times, but this work contains a basic element. It is made with the best French Romantic themes of the City Light, includes between the members a prominent musician; a trumpeter named Miles Davis and it is conducted by this hyper talented General musician: Michel Legrand, who reached with this work the apex of his lifelong career.
I think this is the best album of Instrumental music ever recorded, despite the fact, more than fifty years have elapsed.
This is my last review of this year. My best wishes, appreciated readers for you in this new year 2006 plenty of triumphs and entire satisfactions in all orders.
I LOVE PARIS.......2005-10-12
This is an excellent recording, as it was when I first purchased it as an LP around 1955. It has a fine Gallic style to the music and this re-recording is right up there with current audio quality. But it is the performance that makes it so outstanding.
