I'm a fan of both Ben and Andrew, so of course I had to own this cd. I was a little disappointed in length, about 23 minutes total, but it's still worth every penny (then again, its not that expensive in the first place). Also, I wasn't blown away by Kenny's performance like many people on Amazon have been claiming. I honestly believe Ben flexed his musical muscle better than Andrew. Gibbard's songs are just more memorable. Kenny does have an awesome voice, but the songs he sings seem to fade away in the background (which can be a good thing for certain occasions). However, Kenny's songs are still growing on me.

I'll put it this way; on my computer I rate each song from 1 to 5 stars. A 1 star song is like a slap to the face; where as a 5 star is an honor. I gave 3 of Gibbard's songs 4 stars and all of Kenny's songs got 3 stars (very high 3 stars, like 3 and a half).

I really hope I don't piss off any AmAnSet fans :)

I got this cd just because of Andrew Kenny. I was dying to hear Kenny's version of Gibbard's 'Line of Best Fit'. This cd is ideal for the person who appreciates the slowness of AAS. Gibbard's songs are very..acousticy DCFC style and his voice just doesn't do it for me anymore (despite owning the whole DCFC collection and seeing them a few times live). Kenny on the other hand just owns Gibabrd. The songs he does are absolutely amazing. This cd has one of my favorite songs of all times. For the AAS fan, it's perfect. Depending on what DCFC a person likes, the person who is more into slower music, acoustic like songs, this would be ideal. I just find it hard to want to buy this cd because of Gibbard, but I know i'm being biased because I'm too in love with Kenny's voice.

I bought this CD for Ben Gibbard's music...the songs he contributes to the Home CD are amazing. Carolina and You Remind Me of Home are terrific, especially. Nice, simple folk-sounding music that is very mellow and puts a smile on your face. I recommend it!

This further demonstrates Ben Gibbard's excellence as a songwriter. The four songs shared by Gibbard on this EP showcase a more direct, warm, comfortable, yet tranquil artist that resonates in the classics "You Remind Me of Home" and "Carolina", two tracks that stand right up there with his work with Death Cab and the Postal Service. "Farmer Chords" aches in its own Gibbard-like fashion, just as the cover of Andrew Kenney of the band American Analog Set's "Choir Vandals" is of worth.

However, the EP does alot the next four tracks to Andrew Kenney, whose songs are just as good in their own way, especially "Hometown Fantasy"...well, they're all great, especially if your an American Analog Set fan...which you should! I give this EP only 4 stars because it is great no doubt, a definite pick for Death Cab and AmAnSet fans alike, but the fact that Ben Gibbard works so well as an artist in this mold, I just wish the whole EP was his.

        The Norwegian Kirsten Flagstad was the pre-eminent Wagnerian soprano of the 20th century, but she also gave hundreds of lieder and song recitals, the pick of which bejewel this ravishing double CD. the first offers three complete song-cycles, Grieg's rippling 'Haugtussa', all pastoral maidens and brooks, Flagstad singing as light as a breeze; Wagner's 'Wesendonck-Lieder', that ghost of his masterpiece 'Tristan and Isolde', my favourite lieder cycle - this is the best interpretation I have ever heard, passionate, yearning and, in 'Im Treibhaus' and 'Traume', genuinely spine-tingling. Sibelius' enchanting songs complete the CD, with 'The Maiden's Tryst' unexpectedly lush and romantic.

        The second disc of Anglo-American songs may be less demanding, but are no less delightful. Highlights include Landan Ronald's operettish 'O Lovely Night', Frank Bridge's rollicking 'Love Went A-Riding', Bax's hushed 'The White Peace', Elgar's hymn-like tribute to his vocation 'Speak Music', Delius' rapturous 'Love's Philosophy', as well as a tantalisingly muffled 1937 recording of Stephen Foster's 'Old Folks at Home'. There are also no less than four lullabies, which attests to the Victorian hangover on bourgeois tastes in the middle of the last century.

        Most of these recordings date from the 1950s, so the sound is relatively clear, and if Flagstad is past her operatic prime, her ability to express intense passion with an imperiously cool technique would put most modern singers to shame. her regular accompanist, Edwin McArthur, is a model of self-effacement, quietly playful and inventive in the background. My only complaint is that, at this price, surely a lyric sheet could have been provided. There is, however, a fascinating biographical piece, detailing, amongst other things, the soprano's dubious wartime conduct.

        Julian Bream not only plays the guitar, and the lute
        (although purists and I suspect Bream himself would say rather unconventionally), but most of all, Bream plays MUSIC. This is very, very important. There are many fine guitarists around today, but I doubt any could match Bream's sheer musicality when these recordings were made.
        This 28 CD box set is a lesson in music making, regardless of what instrument is being played. The recordings are the complete RCA Bream catalogue from 1959 to 1989. If you can find the complete box set or even any of the individual volumes, I suggest you make the purchase. (Shame on RCA and BMG for not keeping this box set and "all" the individual volumes in print.)
        Some of the higlights of Breams remarkable talent are his
        interpretations of Britten's "Nocturnal", Walton's "Five Bagatelles", the instrumental and vocal works (with tenor Peter Pears) of Dowland, the "first" complete guitar works of Villa-Lobos, a thorough history of the guitar in Spain from the Renaissance to the Present on period instruments, plus all the works that have become classical guitar standards by Bach, Sor, Giuliani, Albeniz, Rodrigo, plus the "new" standards by Brouwer, Arnold, Berkeley, Britten, Walton, etc.
        Music making of this caliber is rare indeed. Buy it if you can find it. Good Luck !

        If you can find this set buy it fast. There are not to many of these left out there. This has it all. Plus Julian Bream is the greatest guitarist of all time.

        Who don't want to have a wonderful classical guitar collection? Well, this pack consists in 28 CDs, more than 1.000 minutes of music, distribuited by different titles as Baroque Guitar, Spanish Guitar, etc. Some highlights are here, like Asturias, Fernando Sor variations on Mozart's Magic Flute, Paganini Grand Sonata, all Preludes and Etudes of Villa-Lobos, and, well, lots of really good things. Also, there are some cds Julian Bream plays Guitar with Orchestra, or with Harpsichords. Ah, he plays lute in some too. Unfortunately, there are 2 or 3 cds where a tenor sings and another which a woman says some poems, and those, in my opinion, are not very nice. So, it's a good collection, and if you can, buy it!!
