No American release exists for 'Someone To Call My Lover', the second single/follow-up to the #1 title song 'All For You ' from Janet's album of the same name. This import disc features five tracks, each a previously unreleased non-album version of 'Someone To Call My Lover', 'Single Edit', 'Hex Hector/Mac Quayle Radio Mix', 'So So Def Remix', 'Velvet Mix' & 'Hex Hector/Mac Quayle Club Mix'. 2001 release.

Album Details

The second single from her hit album 'All for You', which features mixes by Hex Hector and So So Def. The song is based on a loop of the 1972, top-ten hit America song 'Ventura Highway'.

Why the heck did Janet not release this in the US? It would have made such an impact on the Dance Singles charts, and the Hex Hector Club Mix is great! If you want to hear it, just go to the power-mix.com website and you can listen to the whole thing, not just 30 seconds to a minute. Anyway, this import ROXX!!!

When I first heard someone to call my lover would be the follow up release to the hit song all for you and at first I was disappointed cause I thought trust a try was the best song on all for you and janet kept saying she loves that song, but then if you think about it someone to call my lover fits in perfectly with the moods of summer with the sampling of a guitar riff from ventura highway by america, and it also combines freestyle drum & bass beats, r&b, dance and pop, which shows off janet's electic musical style nicely. The edited single version is slightly different from the album version cause it's shortened and there are more drum machine sounds put into the chorus to make it more radio friendly. The dance mixes of it are janet's best ever, the harmonies and the beat fit in beautifully with the melody and dance beat. The Velvet Mix is also an amazing version of the song, for some time I liked it even better than the original, it also fits in nicely with summer and you can relax to it. Also the so so def remix featuring now boyfriend jermaine dupri is included on this set. I think jermaine is capable of producing better remixes than this one but it's alright. Also this song went to number 3 on the pop charts and had a beautiful simple video

Summer With Miss Janet.......2005-06-29

Even if I'm listening to this adorable song in Febuary, I feel like it's summer. This song (one of the highlights of the mostly disappointing ALL FOR YOU album) is Janet's best song since "That's the Way Loves Goes", in my opinion. Of the remixes, my fav is the So So Def remix.

good summer song.......2003-08-28

someone to call my lover is a good summer song even though janet is capable of making better songs than this. It sounds like it's over 10 years old, the lyrics are too simple and she relied on sampling, but it's still very listenable and catchy. The remixes, especially the velvet mix is really good though, and so are the dance mixes, they really fit in with the moods of summer. So this single is definitely recommended to everyone.

I must say when I heard the entire album, I was over all dissapointed. Unlike Ms. Jackson's previous recordings, this albuum is full of explict jibberish that...says nothing. The hold project seems rushed. Janet, dumped the explict stuff...it makes you appear as if you have nothing left to give and runing of out new material. I know sex sells but you have true beauty inside and out, which is much more marketable and pleasing...i'm waiting. However,"Someone to call my lover" is cute.

The real selling feature of this single is the double A-Side "Someone Like Me". Originally included on the 2003 album "Ladies Night" and predominantly featuring the vocals of Liz McClarnon, 'Someone Like Me' is a tear-jerker. For the single, the vocals were distributed amongst the girls, with great results. The girls have repeated this technique a number of times in their career ('The Last Goodbye' and 'Cradle' also come to mind) with much success.

Even though "Someone Like Me" is a simple ballad backed with nothing more than a piano and lasting only two minutes - it's quite beautiful. "Someone Like Me" is hands down my favourite Atomic Kitten song.

"Right Now" the other A-side is a re-recording of the Kitten's first UK single (it was a #10 smash in 2000) that sounds much more mature than the original while remaining true to it's dance sound. The video for "Right Now" is also included on this maxi single. I was a little disappointed to find out that the video is a compilation of footage taken throughout the girls career and has no story or lip-synching.

The B-side is a track called "Wild" which was co-written by Kitten Jenny Frost. It's a mid tempo dance track that sounds as though it should have been included on the "Ladies Night" album. Overall this is a great single, and they couldn't have chosen a better way to promote their Greatest Hits CD as well as saying thank-you and goodbye to their fans.

If you can't think of a way to tell that loved one how much you really care, then pop in this CD and let the band tell it how you feel. It is probably one of the greatest dance tracks ever written and the feeling is intense. This track was made famous on Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport CD. YOU HAVE TO BUY IT TO BELIEVE IT!

This song was made famous after appearing in Paul Oakenfold's "Transport" CD. Yet this single version brings even more ascension with the remixes of the original. You can't get a better dance track than this. The theme is of love for one person...thats someone like you. A great track to dance to with someone you love.
