Because it would be un-Prince-like to release a new studio album without kicking up a little controversy first, the Artist Formerly Known As a Cool-Looking Symbol gave away copies of Planet Earth with a British news tabloid weeks before its U.S. release. Among the reasons he shouldn't have: nobody who catches wind of the peerless funk-rock-soul he lays out on these 10 tracks--least of all longtime fans--would think twice about shelling out for it. A big chunk of the appeal is that Prince finds his way back to his guitar here. The title track, a politically right-on-time environmental rant, steers him back toward "Purple Rain" territory, as does "Lion of Judah" ("Guitar," oddly, doesn't--it's more of a straight-up, shout-it-out modern rocker). And the flirty numbers are seriously flammable: "Somewhere Here on Earth" seduces with a crackly jazz vibe, while "Mr. Goodnight" gets friendly with a refined slip of rap. Coolest of all are two tracks at cross purposes-- "Chelsea Rodgers" fuses funk with disco until it's so far off the hook it's in a heap on the floor, and "All the Midnights in the World" paints a picture of artistic maturity through piano and lyrics that lean hard on positivity. For us long time fans, this one is worth it.......2007-08-03

I bought the CD mostly because, as a major Prince fan, I tend to buy all of his CDs. It's an impulse, not a researched, purchase. My first piece of pre-recorded music that I bought was _Purple Rain_, as a 10 year old...I've been in love with the genius that is Prince ever since.

While I haven't been unhappy with the last 2 CDs, I wasn't fully satisfied...and judging by what others on here say, I'm clearly not alone. But upon listening to the grooves of "Planet Earth" and the subsequent songs on _Planet Earth_, I have to say that this is about as satisfied as I have been in a long time with Prince. Just like _Purple Rain_ and _Diamonds and Pearls_ (my absolute 2 favorite CDs of all time), the songs on _Planet Earth_ hit all the notes: sensual, blusey, gutteral rock, classic funk and R&B...I am 98% sated. It's not as good as the other two, but it's definitely one to have the in permanent rotation.

This is a good CD.......2007-08-03

Let's face it, Prince was in the zone from 1982 to 1988. During that period he could do no wrong. Planet Earth is not from that period. Compared to more recent stuff, I think Planet Earth is better than Musicology but not as good as 3121.

To me, there are 3 stand out tracks: Guitar, The One U Wanna C, and Chelsea Rodgers. Guitar is a catchy little pop-rocker. The One U Wanna C vocals are laid down very well and this too is catchy. Chelsea Rodgers is relentless disco-funk.

The rest of the songs are good and well written. There is an overall brightness to the tunes on Planet Earth. Like I said, this is no masterpiece, but it's worth the $15 you shell out.

A holding pattern.......2007-08-02

Forget the reviewers telling that Prince has grown so much with this release. In fact, as far as Planet Earth is concerned it's all been said and done before...and much better. Am I getting sick of Prince or am I spoiled with his 80s output, which was new, fresh and exciting with each release? Sure, it's not reasonable to expect that pace from him anymore. In any case, there is indeed nothing new under the sun.

Classic Prince.......2007-08-02

You can tell the real Prince Fans and the sometime I like Prince fans. This is classic Prince. Some people wants him to do the same music all the time. Please get over the Purple Rain times, yes that was good music, BUT WAKE PEOPLE! Prince has grown up and moved on. If you play all the cd's he's made, each one is different. Prince music has never been better. I really don't see how anyone can judge a cd by playing it one or two times and say that it sucks. You have to give music time to sink in your spirit and understand why good artist like Prince never does the same things. I always look forward to his new music when it comes out and this is a great cd. My only complaint is that it's only ten songs.

Sequencing, Sequencing, SEQUENCING!.......2007-08-02

The good:
Wendy and Lisa return. Hooray! Prince needs to include them more. "The One U Wanna C" has a similar feel to "Take me with U", "Raspberry Beret", and "I could never take the place of your Man".

More good:
I agree with a previous reviewer about "All the Midnights in the World" -- it is a brief, glorious trip back to 1986. Very reminiscent of "A place in Heaven" from the original (and tragically shelved) Dream Factory album.

The bad:
Song order. Momentum is key, as well as the placement of serious ballads like "Somewhere here on Earth", which are tough to follow.

Bottom line:
I've spent an hour reconfiguring the songs to something far more practical. If the album were resequenced in the following order, I'd give it 4 stars...

Absolute Garbage is a wonderful addition to the collection for the hard-core Garbage fan. With one new track (Tell Me Where It Hurts) and a remix (It's All Over But The Crying) this is a must have. And to top it all off a second disc of club style DJ remixes and one Garbage remix the Absolute Garbage 2 disc set is Absolutely a must have. For the new Garbage fan this is a grate way to start your collection or to add a new CD to your set with smoe of their best songs on one disc you can't go wrong.

Absolute Garbage - 13 years of Sheer Brilliance.......2007-08-02

Absolute Garbage compiles 18 totally unforgettable tracks together in one nifty pacakage + 13 super remixes. Garbage can't produce a bad song, so I really have no complaints about the track sequence. There've been 'best of' cds with less tracks than this, so, at this price, I say pick one up with they're hot. Too bad there's no CD/DVD combo thingy, cos I haven't seen one video of them yet. Was looking for the Absolute Garbage DVD as an individual item to buy at the same time, but none of the local music stores carry it (yet). Perhaps there's one song that could've been added (Sex is not the Enemy). Don't know why wasn't added. It really gets me moving, especially when I'm on the bike.

The liner notes are well-written and thank you, for the lyrics to the songs! Very good move, guys. Disc one is red and the the remix CD is black. Artwork is kept simple yet catchy. I haven't seen most of these photos, yet I don't spend much time on the net looking for photos of Garbage anyway. Shirley & the Boys never cease to amaze me, whether it's their 'in your face' posing & expressions, or their funky shades. I've had the opportunity to see Garbage in Montreal, April 24th, 2005. What an experience!

Sound quality is excellent and the songs I believe have been remastered. Housed in a double jewelcase with matte paper outer slipcase, everything is summed together rather well. 13 years of super-great hits spanning the band's career will keep your speakers pumping out continuous ear candy like none other. Go Baby Go!!! The liner notes booklet features 24 pages including front & back covers. All photos are in black & white or greyscale. The "Parental Advisory" sticker on the slipcase is not a sticker at all, but actually printed on as part of the artwork. This CD is a must for any garbage fan, and should be on your Ipod. Support Garbage by purchasing this item. You won't regret it.

Some of the best rock music of the last decade........2007-07-31

"Absolute Garbage" is Garbage's greatest hits disc. This special edition adds a CD of remixes.

The first disc is a spectacular, single-disc summary of this extraordinary band. Nobody sounds like Garbage. You know a Garbage song the instant you hear it.

First, there's the amazing Miss Manson. She joins a very small club of female rock singers that rise effortlessly above their peers...we're talking Chrissie Hynde...and then that's pretty much it. She's that good.

The rest of the band are no less tremendous. MAN can they make a lot of glorious noise! So many of these songs have irresistible hooks, earth-shaking sonics, walls of guitars and synths...drums that come from, oh, I dunno, magma? They come from nowhere...from somewhere below...and then explode with a fierce inevitability. Check out the fireworks on "Rains" or "Push It" or even "When I Grow Up."

Layer on that these anthemic choruses and terrific melodies, and you have some of the best rock music of the last decade.

The disc does a good job summarizing their four albums, and as any true fan, I have my quibbles over song selection. But they are just that: quibbles. Of a fan. Of a particularly fussy fan.

The remixes are superfluous. Worse that that, they're just bad. Now don't get me wrong: I love remixes. They can make a good song more interesting, longer for added enjoyment, or they can present an overly familiar song in a fresh manner so you can like it all over again.

Yeah, well, none of that sort of stuff happens here.

For me, the second disc could have been a live disc, or more songs, like "Supervixen" or "Androgyny". Or the DVD of the videos. Which I also bought.

But as it stands, that one disc is pretty darn awesome. You cannot lose with songs like "Only Happy When It Rains" (how wonderful would it have been to have, say, the Hynde/Manson duet version from VH1 here?), "Stupid Girl", "Special", "Cherry Lips", "Bleed Like Me"...

I really hope they're not broken up for good. In this era of disposable pop, there simply isn't enough of this good stuff to go around.

good collection, so so bonus disc.......2007-07-29

the remastered sound and collection of essential songs from the first 2 garbage albums alone make this worthwhile. however, it is skimpy on 'beautifulgarbage' material ("androgyny" anyone?), and drops at least one if not 2 worthy inclusions from 'bleed like me.' the garbage mixes disc would be killer had they not edited almost every mix from its original length. the version of "#1 crush" on disc 1 is from 'romeo + juliet,' which is the nellee hooper remix. the original (from 'subhuman ["vow"]') is still a stray b-side. one day there will almost inevitably be remastered versions of the garbage albums, hopefully with a pertinent bonus disc with the full versions of the remixes from each album as well as matching b-sides, if not a garbage b-side collection unto itself. until then, this is the most up to date mastering of the songs included, shame the songs on disc 2 are edited, it could have been "absolute."

Absolutely the best........2007-07-29

Open the book and you will discover the wonders of Garbage; and then so ends the chapter when Garbage puts away their tools for electronica sounds and beats, and puts up the best they had since the beginning of 1995. We were blessed 11 years ago with sounds of sarcasm mixed in a bowl of angst and the voice topped the cake with melachonic soundscapes. You start off with the very first single off of their self-titled debut - "Vow", and end with the latest tear-jerker with a twist "It's All Over But The Crying". Not to mention the newest edition to Garbage's tracklist - the Chrissie Hynde inspired "Tell Me Where It Hurts". The songs sound remastered - Shirley's voice is clear as a whistle and the music sounds sharper than ever. Not to mention you also get the remix's most people haven't heard of.

All in all - if you are looking for the best of the best from Garbage, this CD is for you. It will make you reminisce the golden times when you were an angsty teen looking for a band or song that you related to. You can remember those times when you felt alone and the only thing you felt and heard at the time was the golden sound of Shirley crooning to you - as the boys (Butch Vig, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker) play the super-sonic sounds to mesh the vocals together.

For the everyday Garbage collecter: This album is for you. For the people who haven't heard of them: This is also the CD for you. Even to those who liked a few songs, this is also the CD to add to your collection. The money spent on this as well as the single and DVD is WELL worth the money. You will not regret the purchase. Garbage may have closed the chapter with this album - but do come back for Chapter 2 when Garbage comes back in 2008; it is ALWAYS worth the wait. As the book closes it's chapter, a new page emerges, and we will be blessed with more music from a band who paved the way for so many. A band who took their time making music for US. For the people who really needed that extra push - Garbage has helped the Alternative movement become glamorous, and we thank them each day for giving us the music that we so desperately love.

When the most exciting producer in pop music himself puts out a CD, the thrill is in the discovery: The world may have already suspected that Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, and a small army of other singers owed 75% of their fame to the stockpile of skittering beats Timbaland built and then graciously set them upon, but here's a chance to prove it. Or it might have been in less welcoming hands. Shock Value is a far-reaching and ambitious disc; a masterpiece, even, in its own way. But it's not at all self-centered. If there's a point being put across here, it's that Timbaland came by your vote as behind-the-scenes musical man of the hour honestly: pair him with Fall Out Boy or the Strokes, and he will not only provide tracks that surprise you by maintaining their rock 'n' roll integrity, he will also convince you that shimmer's role in rock music has, to now, been tragically misguided and miniscule. Re-team him with Timberlake and Furtado (for the near-flawless track "Give It to Me") and he will again trade vocal bites, but they will still be nibbly, not voracious. In a CD full of experiments and puzzles (why is Elton John just piano-playing, not singing? And how did the L.A. band One Republic end up on this disc?) a single truth emerges: Timbaland's taste is impeccable, but his judgment is even better. Shock Value, by virtue of its swirly beats and mesmerizing rhythms, will bring him a smidge closer to the spotlight. But because it's a disc of collaborations, he'll retain the shadowy-genius reputation that precedes him, and that he so richly deserves. --Tammy La Gorce

Major hit-maker finally makes some hits he can call his own..........2007-08-01

Timbaland is lauded by almost everyone as the hit-maker. If you want a radio friendly club beat laden single then seek out Timbaland and consider you're dreams answered. This is made apparent by the recent rise of pop stars Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado who have just blown up lately thanks in large part to Timbaland's infectious beats. So here finally Timbaland steps behind the microphone in order to explore his own vocal talents and let the world see what would happen if he was allowed to make the music he wanted to make. Thankfully he's a genuine artist and didn't just put out another rap album that could easily be mistaken for the countless other no-talent releases year round. In fact with `Shock Value' Timbaland delves into different musical styles and does so with expert maneuvering, delivering a unique and memorable musical experience.

Of course when you pair Timbaland up with his musical soul-mate Timberlake you have instant hit status, and so Timbaland enlisted Justin's talents on three tracks, and those three tracks are standouts. `Give it to Me' also partners Timbaland with Nelly Furtado, a voice that Timbaland helped make a household name. It's a brilliant choice for a first single for it establishes Timbaland's mark while still keeping him comfortable, mostly behind the shadow of the better vocals. `Release' is a fun song but the real gold is found on `Bounce' which teams Timbaland and Timberlake with Dr Dre and Missy Elliot. The beat is one of Timbaland's best and the song in itself will lodge itself in your brain.

Another collaboration that suits Timbaland very well is that with upcoming star Keri Hilson who appears on three tracks as well. `The Way I Are', also featuring D.O.E., has a fantastic beat that belongs in the club. I'm sure everyone has heard this song by now so you know how great it is. `Scream' also features Keri but couples the two with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. I don't care what your feelings are about the Pussycat Dolls, that girl has a beautiful voice. Personally out of the three I think I prefer `Miscommunication' but it's a hard toss up with `The Way I Are'. On `Miscommunication' though Keri Hilson really shines and that makes me lean more in that direction.

The remainder of the CD has Timbaland teaming up with random rappers and rock groups in order to create some of the more interesting tracks in hip-hop today. Teaming up with ultra-popular pop-punk band Fall Out Boy on `One and Only' was a brilliant step. In fact `One and Only' is one of the best tracks on the album. The Hives provide some entertaining aspects of `Throw it on Me', but it's `Apologize' that really blows me away. California based OneRepublic is a brilliant band and I just want to take the time to thank Timbaland for bringing their music out for the rest of us to experience. `Bombay' is very satisfying, coupling hip-hop beats with intoxicating Middle Eastern vibes and vocals. Timbaland also reunites with his old partner Magoo on `Boardmeeting' with nice results. It's not the greatest track here, but it's still great. `Time' is different, featuring She Wants Revenge, and it's not quite as successful a pairing as the previous, but it'll definitely grow on you, that's for sure.

Some of his more rap influenced tracks are a little bland, like `Come & Get It' featuring 50 Cent and Tony Yayo or `Kill Yourself' featuring Sebastian and Attitude. It's not that they're awful it's just that their nothing new. They sound like they belong on a less expressive and expansive album, maybe like something done by 50 Cent himself. It's just not up to the standard that Timbaland sets for himself, although the piano beat running though `Kill Yourself' is a nice touch. `Fantasy' is decent, but Money takes over the track and it becomes more or less another pop-diva recording without much substance. I still don't understand the closing track `2 Man Show' featuring Elton John. It had so much potential, and Elton is a master of the ivory keys, but the track is a major disappointment. In the end `Shock Value' is a disc that should entertain and impress anyone wondering what Timbaland has rolled up his sleeve. Here's to his major success. Can't wait to see what he has in store for us next.

Tasty beats however.......2007-07-23

This is the first hip-hop album that I had ever bought and I'm satisfied with it. I thought this was Timbaland's solo album, but in truth only the first track "Oh Timbaland" can be described as a solo effort. As for the whole album you can expect to listen to the unique beats that is his signature.

As genius as he is in creating beats, he is no lyricist or at least a keen observer of lyrics. Take the first four lines into the song "Miscommunication" which incidentally was not written by him as Timbaland could have suggested better rhymes instead of the ones there.

My favorite among his collaborators in this album is Keri Hilson. Her smooth singing voice provided counterbalance to Timbaland's throaty effort, as evidenced in the track "The Way I Are". Unfortunately I don't feel any chemistry between Timbaland and Hilson as the lyrics would have suggested. Timbaland, as charismatic he can be, just don't have the persona for flirting with a 'co-star'.

Another collaborator worth mentioning is Amar, the British/Indian singer on the track "Bombay". Here I'm particularly fond of Timbaland's accentuation of the upbeats, slight syncopation of the downbeats, added with the otherworldly qualities of Amar's Indian singing style.

The rest of the tracks I'm not really fond of. "2 Man Show" with Elton John for example, feels a bit dry and uninspiring. The tracks with fellow hip-hop collaborators I can't really decide as this is, after all, my first hip-hop album.

One problem.......2007-07-21

Timbaland has a talent for making hits, and there are so many potential singles on this thing it's not even funny. But there are a bunch of filler songs in the middle of the album that are disappointing.

There are a lot of good, fun, danceable songs on this CD, it's just that the bad songs really weigh down the good ones. Tracks 6-10 could've been left out quite easily. Since the cd is 17 tracks long, I'm constantly skipping over those songs to get to the good ones. It's just inconvenient.

Other than that, this is pretty good. Like I said before, it's just annoying to have to skip over a bunch of songs.

Shocked at shock value.......2007-07-13

Now, I'm not going to say I didn't like the album. I did like it. But, I just do not feel Timbaland let loose enough.
I think he is a wild stallion, but it just felt like something was pulling back on the reins, something was MISSING.
I can't put my finger on it, but felt this album was...Too controlled to offer an SHOCK to me.
I wanted a cut loose RAW BEAT album.
I was satisfied, but being satisfied means the content was just satisfactory. I want to be satiated. I hope another album is to follow this, I really do. I'm addicted to the beats, Timbaland is EXCELLENT for those. I can't get enough. BUT, please next time don't just shock me.
I want shock waves, electricty to the veins. Maybe next time.

Angelique Kidjo has four Grammy nominations, a mantel-full of international awards, several dance hits, and notable appearances on film and TV soundtracks to her credit (to say nothing of being a major style icon and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador). With DJIN DJIN (pronounced "gin gin"), Angelique Kidjo returns to the soul of Benin - and, for the first time, shares it with a cast of all-star guests, in a marriage of cultures that has significance far beyond music alone. Inspired by the traditions and culture of Kidjo's native Benin in West Africa, the title of the album refers to the sound of the bell that greets the beginning of a new day for Africa.

The diversity represented by Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Carlos Santana, Joss Stone, Branford Marsalis, producer Tony Visconti, and the others who contribute to DJIN DJIN speaks to the lesson of this project: For all the differences in the music of our time, the river of Africa flows through it all.

The key was to build DJIN DJIN on a Beninese foundation. The heartbeat, then, comes from percussionists Crespin Kpitiki and Benoit Avihoue, both members of Benin's GangbÃ© Brass Band. Details of their country's rhythmic heritage, specific in some cases to individual villages, feed the rhythms they lay down throughout the album.

To this mix Kidjo welcomes players whose backgrounds complement the idea of DJIN DJIN: drummer Poogie Bell, known for his work with Erykah Badu and Chaka Khan; funk keyboard wizard Amp Fiddler, whose credits include Prince and George Clinton; Larry Campbell, whose multi-instrumental work has adorned the music of Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and Paul Simon; Senegalese bass giant Habib Faye, a fixture with Youssou N'Dour; guitarists Lionel Loueke, from jazz legend Herbie Hancock's band; Romero Lubambo, a Brazilian wonder whose credits include Diana Krall and Dianne Reeves; Joao Mota, from Guinea-Bissau and kora master Mamadou Diabate.

Compared to all her previous releases this is sad. Presumably by duetting with 'name' stars she's trying to break into the American market. All of her native Benin funk and energy has been diluted. Angelique Kidjoe and Josh Groban? No No No. I listened to it three times in case certain tracks improved with repeated listening. Not. I'll give her another chance with her next release but hope that if she decides to hook up with others they are a bit more adventurous. Natacha Atlas if you're listening this is not the way to go.

Angelique Kidjo's amazing whether she's covering Hendrix in "VooDoo Child" or singing West African tunes. Her roots are much wider than just her country of origin. It'd be hard for me to name a favorite among these gems. I love the people she's selected to work with. "Gimme Shelter" with Joss Stone may be the kind of duet that's going to propel her right up to the top of the charts where she belongs. Smart move, lady, for sure, but I also love the songs where Angelique sings her own music alone.

Soulful West African soul.......2007-06-22

Angelique Kidjo is one of those rare artists who has the Midas touch. No matter who she's performing with, no matter what she's performing, she makes beautiful music. While "Djin Djin" can be considered one of her more mainstream albums, she still proudly shows her African roots. In a sense,it's not surprising it's sold alongside coffee at Starbucks; "Djin Djin" is as potent as a cup of steaming java.

The opening "Ae Ae" is anthemic;it's a power ballad in which Kidjo calls on her fellow Africans to be self-sufficient. The title track is a jazzy collaboration with Alicia Keys and Branford Marsalis. It's Benin meets the Big Easy. Kidjo does an amazing cover of the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" with Joss Stone. The '60s British Invasion gets an African makeover,transforming it into a tribal rave-up. Kidjo and smoky-voiced Peter Gabriel complement each other in "Salala." A thumb piano gives "Senamou" a deeply African flavor. "Sedjedo", a duet with reggae heir Ziggy Marley, doesn't quite work. Marley is relegated to the sidelines. However, Kidjo's rousing singing saves the piece. The same goes for "Pearls." Josh Groban's operatic voice is unsuited to the style of the song. It's Afropop meets Latin rock (since Carlos Santana plays the guitar),not the Three Tenors or Il Divo. Kidjo's amazing singing again saves the song from becoming a novelty song. In "Papa","Arouna","Awan N'La","Emma" and "Mama Golo Papa" Kidjo shows she doesn't need collaborators. She's still going strong since her debut in 1990. She covers difficult issues such as marital conflict and divorce soulfully. Finally, in "Lonlon" Kidjo transforms Ravel's annoying and overplayed "Bolero" into rousing,toe-tapping Afropop. Instead of being filler or a song worth skipping, "Lonlon" serves as a grand finale.

Angelique Kidjo is accomplished,as a person and as an artist. She is a UN Goodwill Ambassador;she has her own charity,Batonga. In Bono's guest-edited issue of "Vanity Fair" about Africa, Harry Belafonte praises her activism. Angelique Kidjo's music is truly angelic. "Djin Djin" is a great introduction to her music, and is a perfect mainstream introduction to African music. It's as rousing and flavorful as a good hot cup of coffee.

This is my first introduction to any of Angelique Kidjo's music. I bought this compact disc for myself as a birthday present based on the reviews it has received and listening to the short musical segments found on Amazon.Com.

After recently listening to "Djin, Djin" on a 4 hour road trip, I feel in love with the music & lyrics! The music is fantastic and varied from song to song.... Angelique Kidjo is phenomenal as an artist. I also enjoyed the musical guests performing on "Djin, Djin" too. This compact disc is perfect as background music while long distance driving, at home relaxing, during dinner parties, etc.

Not as good as Black Ivory Soul - but still enhoyable.......2007-06-11

This is a good release, with many guests on it, but not quite as accessable as the Black Ivory Soul CD. However, it will get you up and moving.

The world can't get enough of Madonna, and with CD/DVD sets like The Confessions Tour dropping regularly, it's little wonder why. As a thrower of fantasy dance parties, she is peerless. As a physical role model for the 40-ish women who grew up on her music, she rules. And as an arbiter of what's going to sound shockingly original in any given decade--well, duh. The Confessions Tour rounds up songs from way back--"Ray of Light" and "La Isla Bonita" make the DVD, and "Lucky Star" and "Like a Virgin" are on the CD as well as the DVD--but this concert, filmed in 2006 at London's Wembley Arena, aims its sturdiest spotlight on Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madge's 2005 disco disc. You could argue, then, that unless you're in it for the sheer DVD spectacle (and what a spectacle it is), there's no sense in owning this package. Only you wouldn't be right. Because as any on-the-ball Madonna fan knows, what she's doing musically is telling a story--you may already know the characters, but that doesn't mean she hasn't completely reworked the plot. To that end, "I Love New York" gets its rock on, "Let It Will Be" has a musical temper tantrum, and "Hung Up" goes for the drama queen award. You've heard these songs before, but you've never heard them quite like this, to borrow a bad informercial phrase. She does it again!.......2007-07-18

The Confessions Tour - Live from London is other fabulous concert from our dear Madge. Some of my favorites from the concert include: Live to Tell, Jump, Like a Virgin, Ray of Light, I Love New York, Let it Will Be, and La Isla Bonita. Madonna never disappoints, she always delivers a strong show no matter if she's performing new songs or classics. My favorite theme is probably the equestrian act. This item also comes with a bonus CD. I highly recommend checking The Confessions Tour out. It's worth the money. Enjoy!

Best Madonna Ever.......2007-07-12

This is my favorite Madonna Concert ever. My favorite performance are future lovers, La Isla bonita, and Erotica ( best erotica mix ever) and of course Like a Virgin. Madonna showed alot of energy and showed how creative and original she always is. I cant stop watching it. Madonna Definetly is the Queen of Music.

Its ironic that Madonna's better stage performances are all coming late in her career. "The Confessions Tour" is by far her most artistic, musically challenging and diverse concert tour, and this package only serves to reiterate what an astounding talent she is. This review is primarily for the DVD, as the CD is just the audio of the DVD ripped anyway.

Think about this - what other 48 year old do you know who can perform aerobic dancing, sing simultaneously, and hold a note, all while wearing a bikini! Well, I certainly don't know anyone like that, and what is perhaps most astounding is just how classy the entire act is, even through the admittedly sexually charged bits.

The best thing on this 2.5 hour extravaganza is "Erotica", a completely reworked version (in actuality, Madonna sings the original version of `Erotica' she intended for release - with the lyrics of a track called "You Thrill Me"). My favorite part is the last four-song segment, where Madonna introduces her `Disco' persona. Her backup dancers as ever, defy gravity and are good-looking to boot. One dancer in particular stands out - a skinny long haired young man who is as flexible as a rubber band. However, "Erotica" has never looked so good in any of its' avatars, and I thought this version left the studio recording light years behind - its that good.

This is also the first Madonna concert to feature so much dancing. Madonna actually dances frenetically to many numbers, including a highly stylized and choreographed routine with two female backup dancers to "Music". There is also a special feature segment that shows her practicing this - unbelievable. I have had so many friends who were dancers in their 20s who didn't move like this. I still cannot believe this is a woman pushing 50.

Above all, there is the music. Tracks that seemed weak on the "Confessions" studio album, are made more accessible here. "Get Together" which I always used to skip, becomes a keeper. Similarly, weak track "Jump" is actually listenable on this one. Some of the more interesting portions of the concert involve Madonna's friend "Isaac" (who even wears a turban at one point). I thought this was Mirwais, but I could be wrong. Unfortunately, when she tries to make this concert `spiritual' or `soulful', it begins to unravel. They should have just kept this entire concert upbeat and energetic.

No review would be complete without telling you the downsides of the product, and there are three here. One is the godawful version of "Isaac" that Madonna tries to pull off here. This is a poor second cousin to "Frozen", with a similar `Eastern' tinge to it (I could see where they were going with this one, but it just doesn't work). This is followed by a dreary rendition of "Drowned World" (possibly Madonna's greatest ballad), which is followed by the hideous "Paradise (Not for Me)" (which is a beautiful song, but Isaac and Madonna ruin it beyond recognition here). This should be seen to be believed. How they could massacre a simple melody like this is beyond me.

However, we're back in action with singalong versions of "Hung Up" (including a four minute shout-out/call-back to the audience where Madonna asks them to repeat "Time goes back, so slowly" in her infamously fake British accent), and "Sorry" (which has Madonna kissing one of her female dancers, and some amount of funky dancing).

Madonna sometimes exits the stage every now and then, whereupon her dancers take the spotlight and dance to a variety of Madonna collages and flash images. This is not necessarily a good thing - in fact, its downright boring. However, the `special features' on the disc, aren't really special at all. In fact, they are at best footage of Madonna rehearsing, with a tremendous amount of time spent on her dancers waxing about her in French accents ("I can't believe I'm really here", "Oh My God, I'm dancing for Madonna!", and "This is a once in a lifetime experience!" etc.). Nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly nothing to write home about. But the great thing about these is watching Madonna actually dance. Without the makeup she sports on stage, she looks much, much older, and quite tired and haggard, but who can blame her, poor thing?

All in all, this is a must-buy, even if you're not really a Madonna fan. I'm sort of neutral about her, but if I consider that I like this much more than some of the Rock DVDs I have in my collection, then Madonna must have done something right. This is a fabulous, colorful and very entertaining concert, and no one I know has ever regretted purchasing this. Yes, its very `pink' and targeted towards a gay audience in so many subliminal ways, but no matter what your demographic, theres no way you can not enjoy the sheer fun this is. Get it now!

A celebration of a great comeback!.......2007-06-26

Thank you, Madonna, for actually allowing the UNEDITED version of this great concert to make it to DVD...along with an excellent CD for jamming to in the car! I attempted to watch the NBC special and it was so cut up, it gave me a headache! I had went last July to Philadelphia to see this concert live...so it was great to see it on TV....but the editing was so horrible...I just had to turn the channel. The DVD, however, is a bit better, and it is great to be able to relive the concert over again from the comforts of my living room. All of the songs are great....and of course my favorites "Jump" and "Sorry" were the best (to me). I especially loved hearing the Pet Shop Boys (another one of my favorite groups) on "Sorry"...and that cool remix! I hope Madonna's next album is as good, or not better, than Confessions. There's no one better on the dancefloor than Madonna!

Madonna's Greatest hits.......2007-07-30

Madonna was one of the most definitive pop phenomenons of the 1980's and continues with her career, with no pause, today.
Her combination of Dance-pop, synthpop and electronica produced some really memorable stuff, and she certainly makes sure today, as in the 80's that she is noticed.
But there is some really good stuff she produced and this album is her definitve greatest hits collection.
My personal favourites here include the overtly sexual Like A Virgin, the cabaret-dance-pop hit, Material Girl, the feel-good Into The Groove, the youthfully defiant Papa Don't Preach, and the feminine Like A Prayer.
This album combines the best of Madonna's talent during her 80's career.
This is an important addition to the collection of a fan of 80's pop.

Major Madonna Mine.......2007-07-09

This album has all the big hits and best stuff from Madonna from 84 thru 90. Great compilation of the stuff from the first phase of Madonna's career. Gotta have this if you're a fan of the 80s.

Good, but not without flaws.......2007-05-27

While I'm reluctant to speak at all negatively about an otherwise fabulous compilation, I do have to concede to being a bit dismayed by the extent to which certain songs on it have been changed - the opening track of Holiday in particular (for which, sadly in my opinion, the Immaculate version seems to have pretty much become the default version - i.e. the one most likely to be heard when Holiday is played somewhere). If the original versions of this and Lucky Star were felt to be too long for such a collection, why couldn't their 7" Edits have been used instead?

Having said that, I certainly think its remix of Material Girl is an improvement and I like its slightly more tropical-sounding (to me) version of La Isla Bonita at least as much as the original as well; but in addition to my criticisms of Holiday and Lucky Star (and I'm not as keen on the Papa Don't Preach present on here either), I should perhaps mention that Like a Prayer has likewise undergone a little too much remixing for my liking, since it has given the song what I'd describe as a less haunting feel. Not that this means I consider it to be a poor remix though - on the contrary, I think it's rather good as far as radical remixes go. But I do still question whether it's appropriate for a hits album in view of how different it is from the version of Like a Prayer that was actually released as a single and which made this song so famous.

It would've been nice too if a few of Madonna's other pre-1991 hits (e.g. True Blue and Who's That Girl?) had been included, but I can understand why they weren't given the time constraint likely in place. Nevertheless, if at some point (maybe at the end of her official singing career) an even bigger collection of her hits is produced (a two- or three-part one no doubt), I do hope that the needless shortcomings of this one will not be replicated and that the 7" versions of Holiday and Lucky Star (or at least versions very similar to them) will be the ones it contains (though I do as I said prefer the Immaculate version of Material Girl and would be quite happy therefore for that one to appear again).

The Immaculate Collection spans Madonna's '80s and early '90s tracks. Conceived as a greatest hits collection, this album also contained two new tracks, the ever-so-naughty, Justify My Love and the vocally powerful, Rescue Me. Some of my favorite songs include: Vogue, Cherish, Lucky Star, Material Girl, La Isla Bonita, and Live to Tell. Every song is a classic, no duds here. Madonna just keeps on getting better and better, one of the most important, influential, and provactive woman entertainers of our generation. I also recommend her best album to date, Ray of Light as well. Enjoy this non-stop party from our girl, Madge.

Absolutely Awesome and a must have album for Madonna fans and casual fans.......2007-03-08

This is a five star album and the only Madonna album or collection of hits you need. The album is all that and a bag of chips. In fact the 17 hits on this album show why Madonna is the queen of pop music and why she has been such a big star since the 80's. I do not think Madonna can top or produce better dance/pop music than she did in the 80's and early 90's, so she will always be remembered for these hits in my opinion. This album never gets old and stands its time. The music on this album is completely ageless and feel good music.

Through the course of Como Ama Una Mujer, the first full-blown collection of Spanish-language tunes from multicultural diva Jennifer Lopez, we keep waiting for it to happen. La Lopez recycles one track from 2005's Rebirth, "(Can't Believe) This Is Me," which pops up here as the superior "Porque te Marchas." The disc's second half is a sweeping, often gorgeous, stream of romantic consciousness, starting with the lovely "Tu" and gliding through the gently chugging "Sola." And the beautiful closing track "Adios" is a standout, pairing Lopez's lilting vocals with a gentle string arrangement and a rousing chorus of voices. A sterling achievement from a diva whose talent is just beginning to blossom. --Joey Guerra

This was my first Jennifer Lopez CD purchase. Most of the songs on the album are ballads, and I prefer more upbeat music, but I still enjoy this CD. I'd definitely purchase another music CD by Jennifer Lopez.

Terribly Disappointed.......2007-06-27

Though her voice is good; she should stick to Pop music. Too many ballads and the soul searching lyrics. Lyrics not appropriate for her. She sings about sadness and disappointment when we all know her life is so different. The songs did not match her or what she represents to Latinos and women. Jennifer should continue to do Pop music and upbeat tempos and forget about the torch songs of pain and abandonment. Not a good match. What were her producers thinking. Hello!!!! Wasted my money. I never listen to it again.

Empiezo en comentar que cuando salio este CD a la venta pense que con el apoyo de Marc Anthony este proyecto iba a ser un exito. Desgraciadamente me equivoque. Bueno, la colaboracion de Marc Anthony es evidente en las canciones seleccionadas para este CD. Desafortunadamente la voz de JLO no tiene ese sentimiento para cantar estas canciones de amor. Yo no se si se precipitaron al terminar este CD porque yo tengo el DVD del primer concierto de JLO que fue grabado en la Isla del encanto y la interpretacion de varias baladas por la sexy JLO fue encantadora y ahi si escuche sentimiento cuando cantaba. Tal vez la Diva se sintio sentimental estando en Puerto Rico. En este CD no hay una cancion que me haya hecho sentir WOW. Pudo haber sido porque el Espanol no es la lengua principal de la JLO. Asi que te recomiendo que escuches este CD antes de comprarlo para que no te quejes despues de haber pagado precio completo.

Where Off the Wall was pretty much straight good times, Thriller introduced dread into Michael Jackson's solo work. By 1995's HIStory, this element curdled into overwhelming self-regard and out-of-touchness, but here it's bracing. While Thriller offers its share of cute ("The Girl Is Mine," a duet with Paul McCartney that was the album's first single; "P.Y.T."), the most memorable cuts remain "Billie Jean," "Beat It," and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," all of which meld musical imagination and worried-mind lyrics.

There's also the title track, which takes a cue from Parliament's concept pieces in employing Vincent Price to warn that nonfunky forces will "terrorize y'all's neighborhood." Thriller, of course, continues to battle with the Eagles' first greatest-hits package for the title of biggest-selling U.S. long-player ever. This isnt just one of the best selling albums ever for nothing. Thriller is just an awesome album. This is what Pop music is really meant to be. The lyrics actually have a true meaning behind them and the beats are really great. The album has aged pretty well too. The voice of Jackson will always be remembered. He is a very talented man and this is his masterpiece. Its sad that most Pop music isnt this good anymore.

I was already a fan of Mike and the Jacksons, But when Motown 25 came on in 83, this guy set the standard for what music and performance could be and where it could go. Till this day in my lifetime that one performance at Motown 25 is the single most perfect performance I've ever seen. I remember the next day at school and the next month after that performance we had all kind of talent shows where all of the kids were trying to out moonwalk each other. The saddest and funniest part was watching the less fortunate kids who could not afford the Michael gear wearing tube socks with dress shoes and kids making home made glitter and rhinestone gloves. Hilarious. As an adult, I refuse to let the media and even Michael himself ruin my childhood memories of this untouchable piece of music.

25 years later Thriller remains the album to beat!

Everyone in the world owned a vinyl copy of this album once it hit big. At the time I thought it was a tad over rated and of course you couldn't escape MJ or his videos and Thriller is the opitime of how music was forever changed by MTV - not only did his videos sell the album, they were able to launch a total of 7 singles off of one 9 song album, unheard of at the time. When someone becomes huge and overplayed, I usually lose interest quite fast and instead of the popular songs find myself going towards the lesser known tracks. At the time Thriller broke my favorite song was actually "Wanna Be Startin' Something" but now listening to the song, the lyrics are quite awful but the beat, oh yes that beat is still golden. My copy of Thriller is the awesome remastered special additon with bonus cuts and audio about the songs by producers and arranagers, so it's really quite interesting. But it all boils down to the music itself and I must admit twenty some odd years later I am impressed with the album. I love the singles with equal passion - "Beat It", "Billie Jean", "Human Nature" (my current fav), "PYT", "The Girl Is Mine" with Paul McCartney(which is a song I used to loathe but now isn't quite as bad - though I still cringe when they talk to each other at the end, "oh paul I told you, I'm a lover not a fighter" umm okay Mikey) and the title track which you would think sounds like a dated piece of cheese but amazingly enough it's a very entertaining song. There's still the question as to why this of all the albums released at the time is the best selling album (or close to the best selling album) of all time, but it is a fun piece of music though it's a tad sad to think about what Mr. Jackson has done to himself in recent years. You just have to forget all that and look at the cover of what he used to be and hear the songs. Though once again I question who this damn Billie Jean is, if you recall she shows up in "Wanna Be..." as well. He really had it in for this girl. For the record, I always knew he wasn't the father of her baby, I had no doubt. In fact I have severe doubts he's the father of the kids he dangles off of balconies as well.

Is it just me, or is anyone else somewhat uncomfortable with rewarding and lauding an alleged child-molester. Hey Michael, why don't you move to Southeast Asia or something? Maybe your money will buy you "freedom of action" there.

On The Information, Beck Hansen is seriously bummed out. Not that he sounds it as much as he did on 2002's laconic, Fred Neil-worshipping Sea Change. Technology and stuff, and the way it gets in the way of human interaction, is the subtext if not the full-on concept at play here. Recorded with art-rock anal-retentive Nigel Goodrich at the helm, work began on this album not long after Sea Change but was shelved for a few years while Mr. Hansen made 2005's Guero with the Dust Brothers. Unsurprisingly, it sounds a bit like both of those. The trappings of minimalist pop, fuzzy folk, click-hop, hip-hop, baroque psychedelia, and funky pop are to be found on this endearing release. Like Jean Cocteau or David Bowie, Beck is an artistic chameleon whose greatest gift is knowing which artists to borrow from, and when. The cover artwork consists of stickers that you can arrange however you like, which perhaps appeals too much to your own nostalgic/retro, "Trapper Keeper" sensibilities. In an era obsessed with junk culture, Beck seamlessly blends pop, folk, hiphop, indie/underground and electronica with the end result being an authentically uncategorizeable musical style that nevertheless has sold millions of records and scored multiple Grammy awards.

Three years in the making, THE INFORMATION is the album Beck began work on in 2003 with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead's OK Computer, Kid A; Beck's Sea Change, Mutations) and finally completed this year once Guero's massive success and encore touring engagements, as well as Nigel's other commitments, were fulfilled.

THE INFORMATION is comprised of 15 songs and a DVD featuring homemade videos for each of the 15 songs shot in-studio during the actual sessions. The artwork for The Information is either non-existent or infinite, depending on one's point of view. Each copy will come in a blank package with one of four collectible sticker sheets specially designed by European and American artists and representative of the unique Beck aesthetic. The stickers will give every Beck fan the opportunity to participate in the creative process by designing his or her own one of a kind CD cover.

Hard to judge.......2007-07-10

As with most Beck records, I'm not in love with every track, but I would have sex with most of his songs.
On The Information, I found only a couple of songs that I felt like Beck was being Beck. There is alot to catch your ear, but not enough for the ear to stay and have breakfast in the morning.
That being said, it's not a bad record. If you are a Beck fan, you already know that.

Disappointing Beck album has a spare electronic feel to most of it that frequently offers solid grooves, unexpected flourishes, and the always cryptic lyrical stylings we're accustomed to, but few standouts. Considering how fast it followed on the heels of Guero (and the re-mix album, Guerolito), one could be forgiven for thinking this was just a hastily thrown together B-side collection; most of these songs sound like leftovers unworthy of appearing on a true Beck album.

Energy wanes at several junctures, and it's not much of a surprise that the best songs are the ones that are more immediately satisfying (the bouncy "Nausea," the shiny "Think I'm in Love," and the stark and powerful "New Round"). His forays towards hip-hop usually make up the weakest segments, such as the noisy and overstuffed "1000BPM" and the uneven "We Dance Alone." But even at its worst, it's still Beck, and he's forgiven for his failures simply because he's willing to take the chance.

Side note: did they forget to promote this? I heard about Guero dozens of times up to its release, but then I just happen upon this completely by accident about two days after it came out!

For a video-starved guy like me, the idea to release a CD with an accompanying DVD that contains a video for every song was sheer brilliance. Truthfully, I'm surprised it took this long for a big-named artist to try something like this. Then again, if anyone has the ingenuity to pull off such an amazing audio/video spectacle on disc(s), Beck is the musician.

I love everything about "The Information," both the CD and the DVD. There's plenty to dance to here, lots of tunes to sing along with, and some much more laid-back fare. In fact, the tail end of the disk becomes a tad more somber and uneven, but the music still kills. "The Horrible Fanfare/Landslide/Exoskeleton" reveals itself as murkier music for the diehards at 2 a.m. and counting. Still, it's great stuff until everything dissolves into a mesh of ethereal synth and a few incomprehensible voices meant to confuse; bizarre, to be sure, but also a fitting end to an album so rich in musical depth.

This masterful CD is littered with cool hip-hop dance tracks like "Elevator Music, "1000BPM" and "Nausea," which sit next to songs that mingle hip-hop and pop-rock such as "Think I'm in Love" and "No Complaints," two playful-sounding tunes that make not liking Beck's music impossible. "Strange Apparition" has a lively country-western sound, complete with jumping piano and a suitably weird video to match. Everything on this album is smooth and instantly catchy, often danceable. The dance tracks have that big bass thump, a crisp beat and snappy drums that could get anybody moving. There are also sublime songs like "Soldier Jane" that ooze atmosphere and manage transcendence. Along those lines, "Movie Theme" is an especially moving track, perhaps the best on the album. It has a buzzing, slow-synth groove that is infectious but a little sad. The video is nothing but an electric green haze of Beck's staid face shown in a row, as if a synthetic, twisted cloning went severely bad but left us great music. His voice on the track is hardly above a murmur, making the words barely audible. When he sighs toward the end of the song, you want to sigh along with him, and maybe even shed a tear or two.

Beck's droning voice belies the exciting array of noises that are par for the course within his well-rounded music. And his demeanor onscreen is no less understated than his endearing vocals. The DVD portion of "The Information" is chock-full of colorful low-fi videos (often with smooshy coloring and purposely grainy quality) that feature the calm Beck as the ever-present focus, amid a blur of bizarre men and women of all ethnicities performing a myriad of activities in odd clothing. Few bodily movements are spared in these videos: Kung Fu guys, little girls dancing, bears playing the drums, cars driving by, women exercising, jousting, costumes galore, retro graphics that flash incessantly -- you name it, every type of music-video chic is covered. Beck's sound might be modern, but his video aesthetic is pure retro, from slick 1970s suits, to "keytars," to boom boxes that his minion musicians cradle in their arms. So in a way, Beck pushes boundaries in an equally forward-thinking and nostalgic manner. There's no real theme to his videos, except to behave beautifully free and act weird once "Action!" is shouted. Sometimes people just stand around looking bored, which is cool too. Everything looks like it was filmed in the same house. Beck often has a bored, dazed look about him, but after hearing this CD and seeing his videos, you realize the guy is completely in control of what he's doing. How cool is it that the diverse songs on "The Information" also get a varied set of accompanying videos?

Hooked to the Groove........2007-06-28

I've been a fan of Beck's music since his debut with 'Odelay'. If there's music that can stand out from the crowd it is this. Beck packs in a tight punch with great guitar riffs to his songs. His creativity for blending different generes of music is his greatest asset with a voice to die for. The Information continues showcasing Beck's amazing music deliverance , you won't stop stomping your feet with this album for sure.

The information , and some songs from all of Beck's previous album would make a great soundtrack to the Ocean's 11 , 12 , 13 Triology. It fit's right in with the movie and you'll be asking for more of this class and style of music.

Beck's still got it.......2007-06-16

You'd really expect an artist who's like Beck to lose his touch after so many years, but this album shows that he's still got something to give us. I mean, from the opening song, you get into the groovy, hip-hop, soul, folk thing that he does so well. Beck fans have much to be thankful for here.

History may prove Beyoncé's B'Day to be a rare double-whammy of an achievement. Not only is it destined to hold up as one of the thumpingest, most polished-sounding discs of 2006, it's also bound to loose a new phrase into the popular lexicon: a "freekum dress" (n.), as described on a same-named track halfway through this excellent CD, is a "right-fittin'" garment owned by every woman; "when they act wrong, that's when you put it on." Linguistic hijinks aside, here is Beyoncé as the public rarely sees her: fully liberated and artistically fearless. "Ring the Alarm," a big-banging, fire-alarm-clanging wake-up call to a cheating man, finds her seething; "Kitty Kat," a feline-like size-up of a stale relationship helped along by the still innovative Neptunes, shows her spurned; the womanly, fire-in-the-belly come-on "Suga Mama" gets her way, way worked up; and the crackling, vocally volcanic "Resentment" steeps her in Aretha-caliber soul. For all the disc's solo trailblazing, though, where it really soars is on one of two duets with Jay-Z: While "Up Grade U" chugs along entertainingly enough about the good life ("I'm talkin' spa bags and fly pads and rooms at the Bloomberg"), opener "Deja Vu" blasts out a bomp-bomp beat nobody with a head to nod could resist. i think beyonce did a pretty good job on this. she matured on this. it is funky and jazzy. and she looks so beautiful on the album pics; very Brigitte Bardot and Saint Tropez (always did thought she looked like a black Bardot). i like Get me bodied. it sounds a bit like soul in the '50's mixed with the music of today. it's nostalgic. she does sound angry on some songs though. my fave is Upgrade You. thats a great song! it's funky and catchy. although i don't know why Irreplaceable became such a big hit. i am annoyed of it! people have that as their cell phone ring everywhere i go!

Beyonce had two new radio hits with this cd "Deja Vu" and "Irraplaceable." Unfortunately those are the only good songs on the album. I was dissapointed with Beyonce and I'm gald I didn't buy this album. The rest are filler tracks and are not reccomended to anyone. I do like Beyonce but was dissapointed with this album. Sorry B but I give this a thumbs DOWN!

I love this entire CD. Every song is different from each other and the Cd keeps you moving. This is a must have to your collection. It's also great for a long car ride. If you have seen any of the videos that accompany these songs you could appreciate this Cd even more!

2-1/2 stars -- "B" is for "berserk".......2007-06-14

Beyoncé undoubtedly has unquestionable talent, and even though all of Destiny's Child's albums (and B's own Dangerously In Love) fell victim to mixed reviews, Beyoncé was still able to triumph, vocally and on the charts. Well, it's not the same story with her latest offering, B'day.

Actually, maybe the chart comparison isn't valid any more because ever since she released "Irreplaceable" and the Shakira duet "Beautiful Liar", sales soared to double platinum certification and now she's made videos for just about every song on here. But as everyone knows by now, this album was made in only a few weeks and contains very few songs, and the songs aren't very exciting. I mean, Beyoncé can still sing, but she doesn't have to SCREAM. As I said in my review title, she goes a little overboard, especially in the obligatory song-with-my-partner, "Déjà Vu". And "Ring the Alarm" has to be one of the most annoying songs I ever heard.

The rest of the songs aren't that great either. Jay-Z shows up again to kick a dry verse on an already trite "Upgrade U". "Green Light" and both versions of "Get Me Bodied" are club tracks that are so disposable that they could have been done by ANYone. And am I the only one that thinks "Freakum Dress" and "Kitty Kat" are stupid?

As everyone else said, the only real saving graces to this album are "Resentment", "Listen" (from Dreamgirls) and the aforementioned "Irreplaceable". The rest of the album should be left alone, and it's too bad because we all know that Beyoncé has much more talent than this. B'day will make you wish that nightfall will come soon.

I have to say this is my first Beyonce CD. I knew a song or two, so I bought it. I found a few songs right away that I liked, and made it worth the price. After listening to is a few times more though, it really is a variety of sounds and I'm glad I made the purchase.
