5 out of 5 stars Awesome vocal trance collection.......2006-02-11

This addition to the Ultra Trance series focuses more on the vocal trance area with female singers. The songs were great, especially "God Is A Girl" by Groove Coverage. If you have never heard that song, buy this CD. That song was actually why I bought the 2 Disc set. The 2nd disc, the DVD, had pretty cool videos. My favorites were the "Diving", "Loneliness", and "God is a Girl" videos. Overall, I think that this is one of the strongest of the Ultra Trance releases.

3 out of 5 stars Where is Disc 2?.......2005-12-01

Okay, I'm not really a kid, but I didn't feel like typing in my e-mail address and everything. Anyways, this is a good CD, but I'm not sure about the 2nd Disc because when I opened the CD case there was only Disc 1. There wasn't even a spot for 2 Discs... Does anyone know if you are supposed to send something to get it or what? If it's supposed to be together how is the case set up? When you open the case can you see both CD's or do you have to flip it open and the 2nd Disc is behind the 1st Disc? I'm just a little disappointed it that, but besides that this CD has a few really good songs.

I think I'm just going to have to e-mail the company or something about that, but if anyone can answer any of my questions please post it here. Thanks.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Trance Album!.......2005-05-28

In keeping with the quality of all the CDs in this series, Ultra Trance 2 brings great trance beats and is a wonderful buy for all fans. The CD sure gives you more bang for your buck- each of the sixteen songs is fairly long. I reccommend this for any fans of trance or techno.

5 out of 5 stars 2nd Best CD i have.......2004-10-24

yeah the songs were great
the choice of vocalists was outstanding
the best songs on the CD are:
Never - The Roc Project (the version on the DVD isnt as good)
God is a Girl - Groove Coverage
Beachball - Nalin and Kane (i think Johnny Vicious misplaced this song on the CD, it has a good beat and is more quiet i think it should have been the last song on the CD)
Into the Sun - Weekend Players
I'm in Heaven - Jason Nevins

the nice thing about this CD is that there are really no terrible songs so you just keep the CD playing at a party and you will never feel the urge to go and switch to the next track

for the DVD
i LOVED the Diving and God is a Girl music videos and the rest were good too, only one i didnt like was Yet Another Day it was not light enough to be considered vocal trance which is what im after

5 out of 5 stars Excellent DVD!.......2004-01-11

I bought this, and I was kinda disappointed with the CD, but the DVD made up for it. If they did this again with their upcoming Ultra Trance CDs, I'd buy them. KEEP THE DVDs COMING!

1 out of 5 stars ... gives real techno a bad name. .......2006-07-24

When I bouth this CD I was under the impression that it was going to be techno. When did techno become more about lyrics than just really sweet beats and feelings? I find it hard to focus on the music when it is being drowned out by lyrics through the whole track. If you want to listen to good beats and rythems, this CD is not for you. On the other hand, if you're wating to listen to some woman's voice overtake the music, then this is the perfect CD for you.

5 out of 5 stars Do Not Hesitate, Just Buy!!!!!!!! .......2006-01-03

I gave this a five star because every song is a bonified hit on the dance floor, especially if you love to dance. I also have volume 1 which compliments volume 2. Either way you will not be disappointed. CT

1 out of 5 stars Just because you can...........2005-06-07

Listening to this mix of "All This Time" reminds me of the old days with the trusty AM radio trying to make out a tune from a distant station with atmospheric interferences.

There are all kinds of reasons to remix songs, but generally you'd think the aim would be to improve them somehow. The incoherent racket inserted into these selections has done nothing but make them all but impossible to endure. I guess it shows that just because you can mix doesn't mean you should. And just because you do doesn't mean you have the talent to do so successfully.

This CD gives its proud owner not the chore of choosing which selection is best, but which one is least lousy. This CD stinks to high heaven.

4 out of 5 stars A definite step up.......2005-04-05

It seems the average quality of mainstream dance has gone up. That, or Bad Boy Joe just knows what the heck he's doing. Either way this mix blows #1 out of the water!

It's darker, harder, and nastier than the first. It has a more clubby feel than the europopness of the first, as well.

One track in particular seemed almost devilish in it's chipperness. Carolina Marquez - The Killer's Song features the infamous dirge whistled by Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill V.1. Not only is it delivered over a fiercely shady dance beat, but Carolina's vocals and accent are seedy at best, and it makes me shiver to think about just how much I love the song.

Another standout track is The Lovefreekz. The song is pounding, high energy, and very...positive. The lighter happier side of dark dance. I loved the song on Ultra Dance 6, and I love it here.

All around, this compilation kicks boot-ay! The same boot-ay you'll be shaking after you buy it!

5 out of 5 stars GREAT MIX .......2005-03-09

Ultra records and BadBoyJoe what a combo!!! this mix is flow less from start to finish every songs is perfect and BadBoyJoe's mixing is amazing, he so smooth on the mix in and out of the songs, nice job, one of ultra's best cd I highly recommended

Like a stash of old Irish potato whiskey, Alex Patterson (the Orb) gets tastier, stronger, and more covertly mischievous as he gets older. The first Aubrey remix set was, in retrospect, a test drive. This second double-disc is the full-throttle adventure, the work of an ambient-sound scientist not afraid of anything, not genres or boundaries or conventions. Patterson's work--floating, cushiony, and angelic--is pure therapy. His samples and segments inhabit the record like relics from an old antique shop. Classical piano jives alongside Pato Banton's "Beams of Light" while Tangerine Dream cruise alongside Witchman's dirty hip-hop-based "Angel Art," and somehow it all makes sense. Lisa Stansfield's "Time to Make You Mine" mix is deliciously smooth ambient soul, and the Orb's pulsing take on Sun Electric's "Red Summer" is a tasty stew of ambient, dub, and house. But the defining point of the entire set comes with Rick Wright's own remix of his solo cut "Runaway," a haunting piece of music that would have made Jean-Michel Jarre or Peter Gabriel proud. Wright is, of course, one part of Pink Floyd. Patterson has often been viewed as Floyd's only true child, and here the family traits are apparent. This volume is a fitting jewel in a rich and expansive collection of ambience, and it underscores that Patterson is still the master of this dreamy, surreal genre. --Steffan Chirazi

4 out of 5 stars special.......2002-12-31

hey, this CD is really cool...good job!
All tracks have personality, a "sparkling" example of electronic music contaminating other genres...

2 out of 5 stars Not a good sequel.......2002-12-23

I really liked Vol 1 (4 - 4 1/2 *'s), but would have passed on this were it not for the inexplicable (to me) rave reviews here. The samples were downright annoying and most of the music was just plain forgetable. Definitely not up to the standards of other Orb must-haves. I listened to it two or three times after purchase and it's sat on the rack since then. A disappointment, really.

4 out of 5 stars Rule Britania.......2002-04-04

I just like to pint out the crucial fact that this ablum, in its American form, is quite simply amazing. Those of you lucky enough to have purchased the british release however, I really have to say, you've got your mitts on so much more.
The US album is a fine piece of music but nothing on it, nothing at all, can compare to the KLF, Primal Scream and Oldfield songs exclusive to my Ol' Blighty release, bless it. Having at some time in my life owned both versions, and as a life long Orb fan... well, that is to say, my life only really began when i discovered the Orb, I'm cannot let this one slip...

1 out of 5 stars Distorted.......2001-09-18

Perhaps I'm missing something here. Perhaps I'm missing the same album that others are loving....For in TX I have this record and am very disappointed.

The tracks presented here are a somewhat pleasant mixture albeit a bit fragmented in places due to the over use of samples . Although some sounded rather dated this record reminds me of a UFOrb / Orblivion hybrid - that being the 'worst' ( if there is such a thing ) parts of UFOrb mixed with the better sections of the latter. Not bad at all.

Anyway what really upsets me is the quality of the recording. In a word it's horrid. It has very little dynamic range. 80 percent of the tracks have inexcusable distortion. The deep bass suffers the most. Every hit of beat is distorted. It sounds as if the volume level meters were in the red during the whole mastering session ...This is unacceptable.
Just to clarify, the distortion is not the type that works say in an Aphex Twin release or like what occurs on an old recording. This is just plain bad.
I mean, isn't that what we want from an Orb release. To go places, to bathe in the mastery of layering textures and otherworldly instrumentation? To trance?
Not so when the quality is bad enough to cause distraction. Very disappointing. Listen to this carefully in a record shop before purchase if I were you.

5 out of 5 stars Good Ole Fashioned Orb Fun.......2001-09-12

Not only does this sound like original Orb material, but it sounds more like vintage Orb material. Back to the days of Live 93 and UFO Orb, not like some of their more disappointing later releases (i.e. their last 2).
Back to loopy beats, groovey bass lines, Floydian sound non-sequitors, and full brain damaged chill room fun. As a rabid Orb fan, its nice to see them going back to this direction. It doesn't approach their pinnacle achievement of Orbus Terrarum but then again what else ever has? Keep churning the Aubrey's groove out guys, I'll gladly pay my hard earned for any follow ups you care to treat us to.
