Pure meditation style. from the first soundbed, war and friction, (if dj) sets the mind up for a medtational trip back to the roughest of the rough kingston ghettos as well as space travel. you'll feel it as the echo, heavy heavy bass and reverb wash over you as 9 dJ's chant, sing, and screech over the roughest dub tracks ever laid down. Do your self a favor, getting to kingston has never been so cheap.

Reggae is the first "Bass" music........2000-04-02

The reason that I think people should buy this cd is because of the Bass,and how it will sound in your Ride(car). You see,the use of Bass is very popular in Rap music. This emphasis on focusing on Bass in music can be traced backed to Reggae, and to "Dj style" in particular. In Rap as I said,Bass is an important part of Hip Hop production,because of the way it sounds in cars and from speakers at parties. So if you have your car hooked up with a tight sound system you should definitly get this CD. I love the way this CD sounds in my car.

Long before rap broke out of the South Bronx, the rude boys in Jamaica were riding the rhythm in their own inimitable style. Call them toasters, boasters, jesters or DJs, their new sound was to change reggae forever. This compilation gathers nine of the best DJs working during reggae's classic period of the mid 1970s and combines them with some crucial rhythms dubbed up by King Tubby in a wild style. Sixteen gems originally released between 1974 and 1977, now reissued on the Blood and Fire label.
