Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Nice Intro to Gabber.......2005-02-14

This is a nice disc. Fast and hard. Get "Nightmares from Rotterdam" in addition to this, if you like it.

"Mind Ripper", "Natas Is Counting", and "Strength Of Unity" are probably my favorite tracks off this. "Slaves to the Rave" is a good one too, but I prefer the previously mentioned remix on "Nightmares from Rotterdam".

A note to those who read the previous reviewer:
Gabber sounding like rock?
Not quite. Last time I checked, rock had nothing to do with pounding beats and heavy bass. Gabber is about the hardest and fastest techno you're going to find anywhere. Pounding bass, relentlessly fast beats. If that's not what you're looking for, stick with happycore or trance or something.

5 out of 5 stars Flawless, without a doubt........2000-06-23

This compilation is viciously hard, pounding with bass, and overall, flawless in style. The beats are put down ominously by Santana....pounding through the floor and eating out the soul. Pay close attention to "Slaves of the rave," this song is one of the best on this compilation. There is another vicious remix of this same song on "Nightmares from Rotterdam," another gabber compilation which ranks up there with this compilation.

For those of you who enjoy the pounding, now quickly emerging hard German house/techno that is being spit out of Germany, then you love this compilation. Although a bit old, it is ahead of it's time and still makes it's cameos every so often at Sound Factory and Limelight saturdays.

Hard, Underground, and Unstoppable. You will love this without a doubt and above all, you will NOT be dissapointed.

5 out of 5 stars HELL YEAH!.......2000-04-22

When I first got this CD, I knew nothing of Gabber, save that it was "...very angry techno... like gabber and hard-core techno that has, just, hellish beats that are just faster than any speed metal." This was true. The material on this CD is actually not Gabber in the truest sense of the word, however. This CD is much more rave and break-beat oriented than actual Gabber.

The DJ who compiled this work, Omar Santana, is the man who invented the style of music heard here, dubed "Hard-Hop" after it's hip-hop influences. Omar Santana actually originally wrote hip-hop, breakbeat, and trip-hop music before incorporating them all into the Hard-Hop sound.

This CD is actually a very good introduction to Gabber, and Hardcore in general. Not for the faint of heart, or impatient however. This CD left me craving more hardcore techno, speed, and just insanity in general. My only warning is that this CD alone is not enough! Get Nightmares From Rotterdam for some real Gabber once you've listened to this!

4 out of 5 stars 'Calling All Industrial Ravers,' this is for you........2000-03-01

A couple of years ago I was visiting family in New York when I went to the music store to get my daily `fix.' You see, I live in the middle of nowhere and it takes time for newer music to reach the music stores. I came across this CD quite by accident. I am a self-proclaimed music junkie and have been known to buy CD simply for the artwork.

I bought it and didn't expect it to be anything special. It completely blew me away. I own several hardcore-industrial CDs. This one is the hardest, fastest and loudest I have ever heard. The Bass alone is enough to shake down a brick wall. IT Rocks! I had never heard of any of the artists or the DJ before. From the first track I was hooked and listened to it straight through. I was amazed.

Some of the best tracks are #5) Omar Santana - Mind Ripper; this is a cross between industrial and thrash rock, #2) Trickster - White Line; this seems to be a new fusion of hard acid and trance, and #1) Archatos - Strength of Unity; a creepy, `George Orwell' inspired `Bass Cyclonosphere' style Gabber song.

Just a word of warning, this CD is not for the faint of heart. You should give a good listen before you buy it unless you already are a fan of the Gabber movement. This CD was engineered for teeth grinding, hardcore Techno heads. If that is you, give it a shot. :)

5 out of 5 stars BEST HARDCORE.......1999-10-03

Now if you crave the rave and want a blood rush then get this cd. packed with tons of beat and base and energetic. this is the kind of hardcore every hardcore dj should make!
