5 out of 5 stars All I Can Say Is "WOW"!!!.......2006-02-20

I guess i am a little bit behind in the times, I just bought this album yesterday after hearing people tell me how great it is and of course it's links to a great band called Far. This album is amazing, I wish I bought it sooner. Every song on it is well written and great. The guitars are crunchy and the vocals are clean. They have a sound somewhere between Foo Fighters and Staind...But they are in no way just another mainstream rock act. "Above The Noise" has it's crushing moments of anger, "Bonethrower" and "The Ride Of Los Angeles" and it's slow jams "The Gift" and "Looking Down The Barrel". This record is a must have for fans of meaty, guitar driven hard rock. I just hope they put out another album. The best songs "Bonethrower", "The Gift" and "Payday". Check this album out and the band Far, if you can find them.

5 out of 5 stars Insta-Classic.......2005-08-22

I recommend buying this for the hard rock tracks only. Great testosterone driven grunge dabbing in the arts of metal occasionally on this one. However, on the slower tracks like Payday, Looking Down The Barrel, etc.. It seems they overproduced and made it crappy. Find the demo versions of these songs to download (its incredible how much better the demo of payday is) along with some rarities like New Light, Come Together and make urself the perfect rock mixer cd.

5 out of 5 stars Something Fresh To Listen Too.......2005-04-26

I admire this CD because it sounds like Nu-Metal but it doesnt Suck Ass like Nu-Metal the singer has a perfect voice for the music it matches it perfectly........the guitar work is Nu-Metal with a unique splash to it....somewhere along the way you will notice a guitar riff here and there.........anyways get this album because its better than the cover puts it out to be.......my favorite songs are (Payday) and (Future of an end)

3 out of 5 stars Above Average performance of Average Music.......2005-03-17

I bought this album used, which is the way I think it should be bought. It isn't worth more then five bucks in all. I don't mean that overly negatively, it's just that this album doesn't have the umph it takes to make me fork over more then pocket change. I think the best way to sum up the sound of the Revolution Smile is if you were to take Josey Scott from Saliva doing one of their more mellow songs, on stage with Filter. Make any sense? How about this, if you are a fan of the Filter progression of things, meaning sweet vocals over acoustic guitar that blends into heavy yelling over distortion. In fact, now that I think about it, this album really does sound like a Filter album...huh? Anyways, there really aren't any standout tracks I can point you towards, "Cadilliac Ass" is cool and "Alien" ain't bad. Of course you'll want to sample the single "bonethrower" before you buy this used. If you want to understand why I keep comparing them to Filter listen to "I wish I" that about sums it up. Listen, if this sounds interesting or you like one of the samples, buy it used for a couple bucks, just be prepared to listen to it for a week and then lose it.

4 out of 5 stars worthy.......2004-05-22

The old saying "never judge a book by its cover", really hits home on this CD. The name of the band and CD pics do not apply to whats inside. I thought it would be LOUD-ANGRY-HATE music. WRONG! Its not.. nowhere near that.

After hearing this CD 3 times, it is definitely one that I will go back to again and again. Musically, it wont break any barriers, but the way they mix up the tempo between songs helps make the music seem less like every other cookie cutter CD out there. It may not appeal to everyone out there, but IMHO there are at least 8 very good songs on the CD. The rest are somewhere in the filler range, but they dont suck either.

I dig His Playing can't say much really as far as His voice goes but His Foundation is very much on time too me.He is a Very Talented Player.you won't get the Minneapolis sound vibe here though.Dr.Fink comes out with something completely different here.

4 out of 5 stars The Doctor Is Ultra Cool !.......2002-08-31

Ultrasound is jampacked with intoxicating, if not highly energized, funk techno-grooves. Some tracks have a hint of new age Vangelis/Enigma elements in the mix but not enough to slow the party down or make it an elevator muzak affair. Many who rememebr Dr. Fink from his days with Prince and the Revolution as keyboardist will try to look for Prince's influence...Forget it ! This is strictly the Dr.'s project. In fact, the only track that will vaguely resemble anything close to Prince is the last track titled Almost Funky (should've been titled Almost Prince). Fink's own vocals on some tracks are strongly reminiscent of a young Boz Scaggs ! There is also a bit of the Paul Hardcastle sound and Trance Atlantic Air Waves (an Enigma side project) that can be heard. Still, the Doctor has produced an awesome sound and project all his own !

5 out of 5 stars Make an appointed with The Doctor!.......2002-04-30

Just how long have you been waiting to see the Doctor? Well it's been over 10 years since Matt 'Doctor' Fink left Prince's camp, having served as keyboardist in The Revolution and the NPG, but the wait is over. Ultrasound covers a wide spectrum of techno, technofunk and straight ahead R&B. Some tracks like "Ecstasy", "Cyber Monkey" and "Sonic Rave" stand out as great instrumental tracks ready to turn a club on its ear, whereas ballad's like "Night Flight" and Fink covering lead vocals on the title track and "Nobody Cried" (among others) all have their own unique flavor, but somehow fit perfectly together. Ultrasound, which houses a picture of Fink's first son Maxwell's ultrasound on the cover (headphones extra), is more than an impressive debut from an artist fans have long waited to hear from. Fink has worked production, writing, and even a long stint at K-Tel as special projects manager, but it's on Ultrasound that his writing, keyboard and yes singing talents really shine through. This album deserves more than a check-up. You need to be admitted for overnight listening! Check The Ernest Experience online for details about an upcoming interview w/ Dr. Fink.

5 out of 5 stars This revolution is supposed to make you think!!.......2003-03-09

Taking an idea (and if information be correct, assistance) from Gil Scott-Heron and his The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, Ms. Jones, on the track titled Your Revolution, turns the spotlight on ubiquitous images and mindsets within hip-hop culture; bringing to task the male dominated art form that appears to have not only gone the way of hyper-consumption, but has also delved deeper within the halls of misogyny. The controversial spoken word piece by an obviously gifted artist does no less than two things: makes you think, then makes you think real hard.

Ms. Jones artfully weaves lyrics of many "popular" songs that glorify treadmill materialism and disrespect for women into a manifesto assaulting emergent thinking. Putting these problematic aspects of hip-hop on notice, she successfully brings to mind not only the songs to which she alludes, but also images that accompany them in their videos. Additionally, to show that not all is lost, Ms. Jones goes on to highlight some of the more positive artists and lyrics within the genre, thereby showing that not all of what is heard on the re-one-o-peats of the country is representative of hip-hop's continuum.

All in all, Sarah Jones does a masterful job of taking an art form that many contend has begun to fall into potential disrepair (at least from what is heard on the airwaves) and, along with many other great minds, illustrated once more that life and living are not "all about the Benjamins" or "Bling-Bling" thus allowing hip-hop to rise like the proverbial phoenix from the ashes on its path to a rebirth of cool. In this vein, Sarah Jones' work should be applauded not criticized.

Oh! I know you didn't think I would let the haters off the hook! To them I simply say, think real hard before you speak; then pause and think yet again.

              AVANT-INDIE-ROCK for the Kidz

After being continually ignored by the major labels (this music is not nu-metal or white-boy rap, and they don't write songs about how their broken childhoods prevented them from earning law degrees) they invested the profits from a year's worth of shows into their own 24-track studio near Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A.

Since they rocked it out at all hours of the night, they decided to call the place Twenty-Four/Seven Rock. "What Is Your Purpose On The Planet?", their new CD, was completely recorded and mixed by the band at 24/7 ROCK.
