Queen brought a whole new meaning to the phrase over the top. While rock & roll flamboyance stretched back at least as far as Little Richard, Freddie Mercury continued to camp it up, taking little seriously and smirking at the music's growing pretensions while partaking in them no small bit. Many of the band's singles hold up extremely well, such as "Killer Queen" and "You're My Best Friend". The quartet's canny sense of melody and sophisticated vocal harmonies--not to mention Mercury's raised eyebrow--have traveled well through the years. --Rickey Wright

4 out of 5 stars Queen Greatest hits.......2007-07-12

This CD is is great especially if you are a Queen fan. It truly is a collection Of their greatest hits.

5 out of 5 stars Queen is Amazing!.......2007-05-23

This CD was my first exposure to Queen. As is evident on this album, this band is absolutely overflowing with talent. Freddie Mercury is a genius, singing his heart out on every single one of these tracks. It's hard to pick and choose, but I would have to say that the standout tracks for me are:

"Somebody to Love": A huge, sprawling song with absolutely mesmorizing vocals from Freddie Mercury and amazing harmonies.
"Fat Bottom Girls": A classic hard rock tune with gorgeous harmonies and great guitar lines.
"You're My Best Friend": A smooth, cool, beautiful, and underrated love song.
"Seven Seas of Rhye": I love the piano on this song, and the classic hard rock feel.
"Don't Stop Me Now": A classic adrenaline-rush of a song.

I love this CD. You should get it if you like Queen. It's very cohesive. And if you don't really know Queen that well, it's a great sampler of their music. There is one problem. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is my favorite Queen song, and its absence on this album irks me quite a bit. That being said, I would download it individually before I would actually buy another album with it.

5 out of 5 stars blast from the past.......2007-05-14

I have always liked Queen I wore out the tape in my cassette player I choose this cd because had the best mix of their hits Anyone who wants to remember those great Queen hits This is the one to get

5 out of 5 stars THE QUEEN LEGEND CONTINUES WITH VOLUME II. PART 2 OF 2........2007-05-09

Before I begin my review, I would like to invite everyone that are hardcore diehard Rock n' Roll fans to read the website that Kevin Johns and I have set up for all of you. It is called "FOREVER IN ROCK, THE JOHN LOPEZ REVIEWS WRAP UP." Just log in www foreverinrock blogspot com/. I deeply hope that all of you will read it, take part in it and display what your true musical needs and tastes are. I hope to hear from all of you soon. Forever in Rock, John L.

I will be writing a review on the legendary compilation album entitled "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" by one of Rock's all-time greatest bands ever. I give you one of England's pride and joy's and one of Britain's favorite sons, Q-U-E-E-N! "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" was originally released in 1992 on Compact Disc on the Hollywood Records label which is distributed by Elektra Entertainment, a division of Warner Communications Inc. This review is Part 2 of 2. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary compilation album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible.

QUEEN will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for writing and recording some of Rock's most legendary all-time greatest sacred classic anthems ever. QUEEN will also be remembered for delivering one of Rock's most flamboyant and charismatic lead singer's / frontmen ever. Of course I'm speaking of the late great Farrokh Bulsara, also known the world over as Freddie Mercury. When Mercury met up and joined forces with rhythm and lead guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor, the stage was set and QUEEN would set out to conquer the world. QUENN would write and record many great albums and hit songs throughout the band's whole entire career to highly critically acclaim. Like volume I, "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" would be the result of the many great hit songs that QUEEN would record throughout their entire career. Also like volume I, the album, "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" would also serve as proof, of one of the many great contributions, accomplishments and achievements that QUEEN would give to Rock n' Roll. Also without a doubt, in my opinion, like volume I, "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" also stands as a true testament of the sheer genius and musical creativity of four extremely talented individuals. "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" is also a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary band that was truly indeed, far ahead of their time.

It is now time to let the Rock n' Roll music of QUEEN to speak for itself and back it up by doing all of the talking musically. "QUEEN - GREATEST HITS - VOLUME II" from 1992 picks up right where VOLUME I left off and begins with the forever slow blistering QUEEN trademark Rock anthem that could be heard in stadiums during sports events the world over, "We Will Rock You," this slow Rocker will then develop into the beautifully slow hard Rock anthem "We Are The Champions," the merciless killer Rocker "Another One Bites The Dust," the forever Opera hard Rocker "Killer Queen," one of the most beautiful slow Rock anthems ever, "Somebody To Love," the hard Rock anthem for beautiful overweight women the world over, "Fat Bottom Girls," the amazing Opera Rock anthem "Bicycle Race," the forever beautifully slow QUEEN trademark Rock anthem "You're My Best Friend," the forever 50's like Rock anthem that would have made ELVIS PRESLEY proud, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," (READY FREDDIE!) the breathtaking a*s kicking hard Rocker "Now I'm Here," the mysterious groundbreaking special effects Rock anthem with an incredible falsetto voice arrangement by Freddie Mercury, "Play The Game," the fantastc killer hard Rocker "Seven Seas Of Rhye," the forever bass pumping synthesized Rocker "Body Language," the beautifully slow electric acoustic Rocker "Save Me," the fast paced and energetic hard Rocker "Don't Stop Me Now," the incredible Opera Rocker "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" and the forever danceable synthesized Rocker "I Want To Break Free." Again, like VOLUME I, may I also add that the blistering lead vocals and breathtaking falsetto vocal arrangements by Freddie Mercury was PERFECT and on the mark while laying down the tracks for all of these legendary hit songs. I would also like to commend Brian May for his merciless guitar riffs and licks throughout all of the recordings of these legendary hit songs. I would also like to commend QUEEN'S legendary rhythm section comprising of bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor. Their combined perfect harmony sound effort contributed in elevating both Freddie Mercury's blistering lead vocals and Brian May's merciless guitar arrangements to another level unimagined by anyone.

Overall, this is one hell of a compilation album worth checking out and seeking further research and information into especially if you are a hardcore diehard QUEEN fan or a devout music collector. As for all of the curious newcomers and new beginners that are not quite familiar with the sound and music of QUEEN, along with VOLUME I, this is not a bad compilation album or two volume album collection to start off with. Either way you choose, you will have taken a giant step in owning and starting your very own personal QUEEN music collection. You can do all of your researching and album purchases either on Amazon com or at your nearest local Borders Books and Music store. If you ever get a chance, buy both volume albums, you'll be happy and satisfied that you did.

Like VOLUME I, I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary compilation album(s) to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. Without a doubt, this legendary treasure album(s) has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. This is one great priceles gem that no hardcore music fan or devout music collector would want to be without.

In closing, Freddie Mercury's untimely death on 24 November 1991 would close the book on one of Rock's greatest chapters and one of Rock's all-time greatest bands ever. OR SO IT SEEMED. The QUEEN legend and legacy is far from being over. As we speak, QUEEN has been touring with former FREE'S, BAD COMPANY'S and THE FIRM'S lead singer and frontman Paul Rodgers to highly critically acclaim. In my opinion, despite Freddie Mercury being irreplaceable, QUEEN'S only chance of carrying on with someone else that is close to Freddie Mercury's talent is with none other than George Michael. When I heard George Michael sing with QUEEN on stage at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, Michael is the only lead singer and frontman alive today that is capable of filling in the empty shoes left vacant by the late great Freddie Mercury. I'm really surprised that QUEEN didn't snatch up George Michael right away. I HOPE QUEEN IS READING THIS! As years have gone by, the contributions, accomplishments and achievements that QUEEN has made throughout Rock n' Roll history speaks for itself. In 2001, QUEEN would meet their date with destiny by receiving the highest ultimate honor possible, by being inducted as members of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. With this in mind, QUEEN will forever leave their place and mark in Rock n' Roll history and will never be forgotten. There will also be new stories in the QUEEN legend and legacy that will still need to be told and written. But that, my fellow readers and reviewers, you will just have to stay tuned and glued to your computer and read further more about it at a later date in the near future. So here's to you late great Freddie, Brian, John, Roger and yes, you too Paul and George. Thanks for the many great memories. Keep The faith. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more or am I wrong? FREDDIE MERCURY LIVES! Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also deeply hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. QUEEN FOREVER! R.I.P. FARROKH BULSARA A.K.A. FREDDIE MERCURY, Born 5 September 1946, Died 24 November 1991 at age 45. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.

5 out of 5 stars Genre Bender's Greatest Hits.......2007-03-03

Although it lacks a few of their best songs, Queen's "Greatest Hits" is a nice starting point for anyone who remembers the band from their glory days and for those just beginning this royal rock journey. I think that few people would argue the point that Freddie Mercury truly had one of the best voices around. He could meld it to any of a number of genres of music and that's well-evidenced on this album. From the anthemic "We Will Rock You" to the rockabilly "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," to the groovy, urban stylings of "Another One Bites The Dust," Mercury and the boys constantly crossed genre lines.

Highlights including those previously mentioned are "I Want To Break Free," "Save Me", "Killer Queen," "Somebody To Love," and the wonderfully strange "Body Language." My personal favorite is "Fat-Bottomed Girls."

Fans of arena rock bands like Styx and Foreigner will surely enjoy Queen, although Queen is on an entirely different level than those bands. They are classic rock royalty and I highly recommend you snag "Classic Queen" to get a more complete understanding of Queen's broad-reaching style of music.

Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars TRULY A GREAT COMPILATION .......2006-04-29

THIS ALBUM IS OFF THE HOOK!!!! I have to give it up for Bone Thugs and Tomica Wright (who is an executive producer on the album). A lot of people come out with trashy hits album, that are just thrown together for money. I may only be 16, but trust me I know. This is the exact opposite. It has 26 songs, and is a 2-disc. All real hardcore Bone Thugs fans, like me, must have this album. It has "Tha Crossroads", "Look Into My Eyes", "Thug Luv", and every song that has been a major hit for them. No song is missing. Bone Thugs are just so ORGINAL, TALENTED, and everything that rappers should be. It is worth every bit of your 13 or 14 dollars, or however much cds cost at your local music carrier stores. It's Bone Thugs, so you know you can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Bone Thugs the best in the game!!!!.......2006-04-03

Yo before I review this album, I only got to say one thing. BONE THUGS N HARMONY IS THE BEST RAP GROUP EVER TO BE IN THE GAME. I listened to them since I was 6 years old. I play all day, everyday, 24/7/365. They Thuggish Ruggish til' the day they die. Now back to the greatest hits, they have a lot of great collections of song on this album, the classic "Crossroads (from E. 1999) (sampled from Isley Brothers "Make Me Say It Again"), "Look Into My Eyez", "Foe The Love Of $", "1st of da Month", and etc. But my favorite song on that whole Greatest Hits is "Money, Money". This has been in my CD player since I first bought it. I can't wait till their new album come out in summer.

If you are a Will Smith fan and don't have any of his albums, buy this. It is hit after hit after hit. I love playing this one in the car with friends around, because everyone loves a little Will Smith in their lives! People are always surprised at how many songs of his they know, and they ask "Is that Miami song on here? What about the Willennium one?"

I think this would make a great gift as well, in fact I think I bought mine with a gift certificate!

By the way folks, check out CORINA'S response to my missive to her album awhile back. I would've wanted to of known what has happened to the some of these artists.

4 out of 5 stars Satisfies but doesn't thrill.......2007-07-28

I was as pleased as Punch when this CD came out in 2003. For starters it had Salaam Remi's 'Mahogany Mix' of Lauryn Hill's "The Sweetest Thing" on it and I had been searching for that track for ages. The original version of the song is on the 1997 soundtrack Love Jones: The Music (1997 Film) and I heard the remix in a club sometime between '98 and 2000. I remember searching the four corners of London in vain, trying to get my hands on the 12". (It wasn't a hidden track on my European version of Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill though I've been led to believe it was on US versions). Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, that song was worth the price of the CD all on its own.

So I was happier still, to find out it also had the 'Remix Radio Edit' of "Nappy Heads". I'd seen the video on MTV and had always meant to get Blunted on Reality, the Fugees album it came from but I just never got round to it. I'm no hardcore Fugees fan; The Score is their only CD I own apart from this one, so The 'Refugees Hip Hop Mix' of "Vocab" added even more value, as did Salaam's 'Ready For The Show Remix' of "Ready Or Not".

But I can totally understand why real Fugee fans would be underwhelmed by this CD. Seven out of the ten songs on here are from "The Score alone", which is a bit cheeky, to say the least. I guess I was just lucky how things turned out for me. It gets 3.5 stars on account of the four tunes I mentioned but with a few more remixes or more songs from the Fugees other albums or even a few more songs from Wyclef or Pras's solo projects, it could have made five stars easily. My overall assessment: it satisfies but missed a golden opportunity to thrill.

2 out of 5 stars Poor quality.......2007-01-09

its sounds like it was burned off of another CD. The quality is poor.

1 out of 5 stars For real.......2006-07-30

On some real s*** if you have their first 2 albums including the bootleg joint, you really dont need this. And that's the truth.

3 out of 5 stars "The Score" and "The Bootleg Versions".......2005-08-19

If you already own "The Score" and "The Bootleg Versions", there is no reason to even buy this because that's all it is. There are only two songs on her not from those albums: "Nappy Heads"[Remix Radio Edit] and "The Sweetest Thing"[Mahogany Mix] by Lauryn Hill, which is a nice track.

But all in all, this is a nice, short CD to listen to while you're relaxing or in the car. But not good enough to buy if you have the other albums.

5 out of 5 stars Great rap group...but the 'greatest hits' cd could be better.......2003-05-30

The Fugees brought a breath of fresh air to the rap game in the mid 1990s. As gangster rap, with the likes of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac, dominated mainstream rap, the Fugees offered an alternative to those listeners who did not want every song to be about graphic violence and crime (although some of their songs still deal with similar subject matter). Their lyrics were clever and introspective, and their music was...in general, softer. Their beats were different too, often sampling jazz or soul in the middle of their songs. So, it's no surprise that they stand tall as one of the greatest rap groups of all time, for their talent as well as their inovation. Lauren Hill's voice is absolutely beautiful, and Wyclef actually plays an instrument (the guitar...and quite well), which is rare in rap music.
That being said, this cd falls short of my expectations. The fact is, the Fugees, for the most part, did not write a bad song. Indeed, their cd "The Score" could itself be a greatest hits cd. This cd offers a nice sampling of their music, but leaves out some very good songs (Zealots, for example). And, while the cd is advertised as including some work from the separate members of the Fugees (recorded after the 'breakup'), it merely has Lauren Hill's "The Sweetest Thing," and leaves off any of Wyclef's solo work. If you include Lauren Hill's "The Sweetest Thing," you should certainly have Wyclef's "Gone Till November," his remix of "Stayin' Alive," "Perfect Gentleman," and/or "Street Jeopardy." However, this cd unfortunately does not. Finally, the cd contains a remix version of "Ready or Not," while the original version (whic appears on "The Score")is far superior. The remix on this cd does not showcase Lauren Hill's voice nearly as well, nor does it have a groove or beat that should be on any greatest hits compilation. Because the Fugees only released a few albums, this cd was obviously a record company's attempt to capitalize and make more money. Therefor, the Fugees can hardly be hald responsible for the tracks that made the final cut. That is why I still gave the cd 5 stars. Every song is good...but it has so much more potential. While many fans would have preferred a new album to a greatest hits one, this one should bring in a few new fans.

4 out of 5 stars This Is The Collection You Need!.......2006-04-22

WARNING!! Don't buy that hot mess of a CD titled 'Still Standing' from 2001! This is the collection for you. MOST of Full Force's greatest hits are on this CD, and that includes super rare extended versions of 'Alice I Want You Just For Me' & 'Unselfish Lover', which take me back to the good times of 1985.

The ONLY drawback with this collection is the failure to include Force's big hit from 1987...'Love Is For Suckers (Like Me & You)', and I just had to add this track to my remastered CD. This song is on the 'Guess Who's Coming To The Crib' CD, which also features the classic slow jam 'All In My Mind'. Even though this collection is missing a key song, 'Full Force's Greatest Hits' is still a worthy collection for old & new fans alike. Don't sleep on this CD..who knows how long it will be in print!
Peace, SD

5 out of 5 stars Oh my!!!.......2006-02-13

Full force was the bomb. They are great producers as well. Alice, was my favorite jam.

5 out of 5 stars MEMORIES!!!!!.......2004-09-13

I LIKE THIS CD IT IS GREAT. IT HAS ALL OF MY FAVORITES FROM UTFO AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ALICE I WANT YOU JUST FOR ME. I LIKE IT WAS ALL IN MY MIND, UNSELFISH LOVER, AND MANY MORE I LOVE THIS WHOLE CD I USED TO LOVE FULL FORCE BACK IN THE DAY!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE FULL FORCE.......2002-07-13

What more can I say. I loved Full Force in the late 1980's, and I still love them today. Their music was funky, soulful, yet fresh and they were definitely ahead of their time!!

Standout sensational songs include "Unselfish Lover" (someone has GOT to do a cover of this song, "All in My Mind", and "Please Stay".

5 out of 5 stars Finally, the wait is over.....,.......2001-12-29

The original hip-hop vocal band has unleashed a complete greatest hits package. They teased us with a few shorter versions of their best of on "Still Standing", but they came with it on this one. All the classics are here, from "Alice, I Want You Just For Me, Ain't My Type of Hype, to Unselfish Lover"..., but the unforgettable slow jams "All in My Mind", "4U:Full Force Mellow Medley" and the ever so sensuous "Kiss Those Lips", are here as well, all of which were missing from the "Still Standing" cd. They end the cd on a spiritual note with the "Man Upstairs" which was slept on back in the day which shows their early roots in the church. Overall this cd is da' Bomb, and one of the most complete greatest hits package I have ever heard..., This is a must have...., for true Full Force Fans

    Album Description

Venice Beach has always been a popular tourist attraction. Hundreds of people stroll the boardwalk; compete against one another in basketball; utilize the gym, which is centrally located between the boardwalk and the beach; and shop from the various tents filled with clothing, shoes, etc. or from vendors selling incenses, lucky beads, and other novelty items. If feeling really experimental, one may even indulge in a little tarot card or palm reading. With its ability to attract so many, some aspiring artists came to the conclusion that the best place to put on a show where you know a crowd would be yet would cost nothing is Venice Beach. The familial group The Boys sang their hearts out there; comedian Michael Collier had people laughing at him at the hot spot. And just as artists before them and artists after them, Immature made their debut at the infamous waterfront attraction. Known as "the boys from Venice Beach," Immature's Jerome Jones (Romeo), Marques Houston (Batman) and Don Santos (Half Pint) would perform for the hundreds visiting the beach on the weekends.

Interestingly enough, the group didn't grow out of childhood friends singing together in the garage. Eight-year-old Jerome, who had known soon-to-be-manager Chris Stokes for a while, was the first member of the 'childish' act. While at a talent show, Stokes and Jones saw Marques Houston perform a dance routine and thought he would be a good member for the developing act. Don Santos' talent was observed and, consequently, he was thrown in the mix. Ta Da! Immature was born. Second step: names for the trio. Surely going by their birth given names would not fly well with the general public. There had to be something catchy, some name that would be indicative of their diverse personalities. Jerome became known as "Romeo" because of his light-colored eyes and 'pretty boy' look. Marques got the name Batman because he used to wear underwear on his head. Of course that wouldn't be appropriate while performing so with a little innovation, underwear was placed over the hats he wore and pieces of the hat would be pulled through the legs of the underwear, which made them look like ears. And little Don Santos was called "Half Pint" for obvious reasons. Third step: imaging. Immature were dressed in over-sized, hip-hop gear as a gimmick. Their clothing was unique in style, cutting edge fashion, if you will. Immature's outfits weren't easily accessible, which made their appearance all the more fascinating.
