Aaron Copland.......2007-05-13
It's okay but I dont listen to it much. I have other things I would rather listen to like Chris Isaak Lawrence Welk Bee Gees etc
Best Collection of Aaron Copland.......2005-12-21
Aaron Copland is for me one of three of America's greatest composers of the 20th Century. Bernard Herrmann and Jerome Moross are the other two. Aaron Copland would have been 100 years old on November 14, 2000. In reflection I turn back to my first Copland album, "Copland's Greatest Hits." I was familiar as most people are with "Hoe Down" and that was the springboard for me. What attracted me was that distinctive "American" sound and "American" quality of the piece. This "American" sound is very present in Jerome Moross' score for the epic Western film, "The Big Country." One can also find similar influences in Bernard Herrmann's score for "The Kentuckian" and very much like Copland, Herrmann researched and interpolated regional folk songs and integrated them into his own unique style. Because I always liked film scores and also very much liked Copland's "Hoe Down" I always thought there had to be some connection with the musical approach. When I got this album and listened to "Appalachian Spring" for the first time I knew that I had discovered pure "Americana" and I have found that sound replicated in so many films. If you listen to the scores for "The Natural" or "Field of Dreams" or even recently to "Saving Private Ryan" this sound is present. This is a tribute to Copland and American music. Copland reinvented American music by giving it his unique structure. Copland's music is so simply melodic yet richly textured that it has an inherent sophistication that defines our nation. This is my favorite Copland album. That may be sentimental, but it helped me try to define a sound that I personally found moving and uplifting. I highly recommend this album of collected recordings. The recording of "Appalachian Spring" on this CD performed by the New York Philharmonic and conducted by Leonard Bernstein is my favorite recording of this piece to date.
The finest version of Appalachian Spring -- bar none!.......2001-12-09
I marvel at this CD every time I listen to it. This CD features Aaron Copland conducting the Boston Symphony in a performance of his own Appalachian Spring. There are many poignant hesitations and nuances in this performance. There is good reason why this piece has become synonymous with Americana -- listen to it, close your eyes and just let the images unfold.
This CD also contains Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Philharmonic in the Billy the Kid Ballet Suite. It is a spectacular performance as well.
Outstanding Collection of Copland Music.......1999-11-09
Every cut on this CD is very good. My personal favorites are "Appalacian Spring", and the "The Tender Land - Finale: The Promise of Living." I would recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of Classical Music.
Breathtaking, beautiful and aweinspiring!.......1999-07-12
This is no doubt one of the most beautiful classical CD's I have ever listened to. Copland was and is an extremely gifted composer.

Just as the Osmonds spun off solo careers for younger siblings Marie and Jimmy in the '70s, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys now sees 12-year-old brother Aaron bringing his own album to the kid-pop table. The closest this Disney Radio-ready disc gets to naughtiness is "My Internet Girl," a squeaky-clean celebration of instant-messaging. It fits right in with whitewashed, piping-voiced takes on '60s hits such as "I Want Candy" and "Iko Iko," and the lite-funk of the title track. Almost quaint in its preteen tone, Aaron's Party is certainly suitable listening for even the youngest kids. --Rickey Wright

COME GET IT--IN THE TRASH!!.......2007-03-31
This has got to be one of the worst musicians ever! Wait, did I say MUSICIAN? Aaron Carter cannot even rap, let alone make good music. Most of the songs he uses anyway are remakes of ones from the 50s and 60s, but done in a crappy way. And what's with his retarded song, "That's How I Beat Shaq"? If that were really happening, Shaq would've thrown Aaron's a** across the basketball court and then dunked him head first through the basketball hoop. Seriously, somebody shut this kid up!
from a used to be googly-eyed preteen.......2007-03-20
I remember receving this CD for my 13th birthday and being over-joyed. I put posters of him all over my walls and put the CD on repeat day after day. My poor, poor family...
Now that I am older, I see that Aaron Carter is nothing but another waste of time, money and energy. He makes millions by going on stage lips-syncing to songs that he didn't even write. Come on, people.
Not Bad For Someone Just Starting Out.......2006-11-26
This isn't a half-bad album by Aaron Carter. While this isn't in my CD player as much as it used to be, this is still a really good album, considering Aaron's age at the time. As an Aaron Carter and Backstreet Boys fan, I feel it is necessary to collect at least some of their CD singles but all of their CD's (the US released ones anyway). I happen to like some of the Interludes on here, but there are too many in which Aaron and friends use the telephone. Other wise, I thought this was pretty good.
This is awesome!.......2006-09-03
i love aaron carter he is aweosme! i think he has the potential to be the next 50 cent! he can rap better than eminem! but i just cant help to wonder where the parental advisory sticker is on this? i mean he like frickin cusses every other word in each song. ok seriously this kid sucks my nuts. HOW IN JESUS' NAME COULD THIS KID EVER BEAT SHAQ?? i MEAN COME ON HES LIKE 4'5" or something like that SAHQ COULD PROBABLY THROW HIM ACROSS THE BASKETBALL COURT! dont ever buy this.
Can you say "garbage"?.......2006-07-18
Aaron Carter was 12 when he did this? Ha! That's debatable since he looks about 4 on the cover. He also has the voice (and mentality) of an 8-year-old girl crying about her broken Barbie doll. Everything about this album is horrible. I could sing better than him! And the lyrics are weird. "My Internet Girl"? The "girl" is probably some 57-year-old, 875-pound child molester. Please don't give $13.98 to this spoiled brat. His wallet is bloated enough already. And whoever says he's better than the Beatles or Elvis: what? Can you honestly say that with a straight face? That's pathetic. Listen to "A Little Less Conversation" or "Eleanor Rigby" and then tell me that's not good music.

Aaron Copland's The Tender Land was to be the first opera written for television, but NBC rejected it. Copland revised it, but later performances weren't well received. Hard to believe, from just the suite. This is vintage--if unfamiliar--Copland. The Red Pony comes from the film of the same name and is quite understated, something that was intentional on Copland's part: he didn't want the music to obtrude on the film's story. The real surprise here is how well the Phoenix Symphony comports itself under Sedares's baton. Nicely balanced, excellent sound. Highly recommended. --Paul Cook
Customer Reviews:
Copland Rarities From Phoenix.......2005-09-27
Aaron Copland was the composer who best personified the American style of classical music, having composed works that reflected all aspects of America: its big cities ("Music For A Great City"); its small towns ("Our Town") and its wide open spaces ("Rodeo"; "Billy The Kid"). But there is even more to this greatest of composers that our nation has ever produced, as personified on this 1991 recording by the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and its music director James Sedares.
The recording contains a three-part orchestral suite from the composer's surprisingly unsuccessful 1954 opera "The Tender Land"; a suite from his score for the 1948 film version of John Steinbeck's novel "The Red Pony"; and a true rarity among rarities, the "Three Latin American Sketches" (Estribillo; Paisaje Mexicano; Danza De Jalisco), which were premiered in 1972. This suite, sandwiched between "The Tender Land" and "The Red Pony", makes for a thoroughly interesting comparison with Copland's two earlier Latin-oriented sojourns, "El Salon Mexico" and "Danzon Cubano."
Under Sedares' crisp direction, the Phoenix Symphony shows itself to be very much at home in this great American composer's works. They are almost certainly one of the great regional orchestras in the U.S., capable of standing tall with their bigger bretheren in cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York. This is a wonderful recording for anyone with a taste for Americana and the occasional Latin spicing.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Performance of the Boston Pops.......2003-08-08
This is a very fine collection of recordings of Copland. The performances of Boston with Copland conducting his own music is a sure-fire guarantee you'll hear the music as he intended.
The only reason I give this CD 4 stars instead of five is the less than perfect performance of "Fanfare for the Common Man" done by Philly under Ormandy and the "jumpstart" into Hoedown from Rodeo. The intonation of the brass in the Philly performance is seriously off, and there seems to be no lead-in to "Hoedown". Minor problems on an otherwise excellent CD.
The best Copland 'bests' CD.............2000-06-18
Out of all of the CDs which contain the 'best' Copland works, this one is the best for your money. You get nice quality, nice selections, and a confusing CD case (which is confusing to open). The Tender Land excerpts introduced me to one of the best operas ever. Copland, who conducts this and Appalachian Spring, did a marvelous job capturing his own spirit of the rural American life. Don't stop at this CD though! There's so much more great Copland! Tender Land is wonderful! Also his Symphony no. 3, which incorporates Fanfare for the Common Man into it, Red Pony, Down a Country Lane, and the Old American Songs (which contains a couple of familar tunes you'll hear from this CD). This is a good one! Not perfect (stuiped CD case) but good.

he ought to be ASHAMED for making this.......2002-12-26
this just didnt hit the spot. even though i 100% HATE this song its not as bad as the stupid "oh aaron" song.
I so love this CD!!!!!.......2001-12-30
if u like aaron carter do not read this review!i love that song Aarons party come get it! ha come get what..i hope he doesnt mean this cd. all it does is tell a story about him trying to get his parents out of the house so he can have some of his little girlfriends over...i think it should be banned from record stores. I dont care how old he is, he is a little spueaky boy. i saw his little performance on the Disney Christmas parade and it was terrible. to put it into a few words THE BOY CANT SINg and he should not be jumping around with women 3 times his age. the only reason why he has money is because little girls get sucked in by his nonsense music and bleachblonde hair. im sorry if ive hurt anybodys feelings.
A super-singing hottie!.......2000-11-20
Aaron is reall cute, but I basically like it, because he is a great singer, at his 12 year old age. I don't have the cd, but I listen to it online, all the time! I 'm getting the CD soon, too.I thought that Nobody should've let him into the studio, but after I heard him , I became the biggest fan! So, I reccomend you to buy the CD, because 1 song has turned me into a fan. But- I'll tell you a secret- DON'T TELL ANYBODY :)- I'm a ;ittle jealous of him. I can sing great, too, but there's no way I could get into the studio!
SO GREAT.......2000-10-17
HI I have been a fan of Aaron Carter for about 3 years now. I basicly liked him because he seems like a real nice kid and he's very talented and Cute!! Well when i bought his single on Aug. 1 i had heard the song about 12 times on TV so it wasn't all new. His song Aaron's Party Come Get it was alright it is fun to listin' to and all but it just wasn't the greatest. Then i listened to Jump Jump ! That song is so Great! His voice has changed a lot and hes a wonderful singer!!! Not saying he wasn't before but it is a very big improvement from his first self titled CD in which he sounded like a talented singing squeeky mouse. Well just letting you know this single is so great. His songs are super to listen to and he is a very talented singer and if you didnt like his first CD he has changed so much he sounds so better than he used to and that is hard to beat!Buy this you won't regreat it!!!!!
aaron rules!.......2000-10-04
This single is good and realy cheap id reccomend it for any aaron carter fan.
