4 out of 5 stars call it "emo" call it "indie" its all just neat tunes.......2003-07-17

i bought this cd...about 4 years ago beause of all the bands, i mean, HUM/mineral/compound red/dismemberment plan...all on one cd and for only a buck? why not? anyway, dont buy this cos the title says punk rock in it, if your a casualties/fleas and lice/dead kennedys freak you probly wont like it, its more of the post punk scene, "EMO" if you will. every song is verry diffrent yet verry great, if you just want a breif appitiser of new bands you may have never herd before get it, its deffinatly not a waste of money and will deffinatly expan your horisions.

4 out of 5 stars Couple good songs worth buying for.......2002-03-08

Unwound, Braid, Modest Mouse, and Jawbox's songs make this comp worth buying. The other songs are just to emoish, but its not too bad. I think the best song on this comp is the Unwound song, short sweet, and abrasive, awesome bass line. HUM's classic is also good. Buy it and you won't regret it.

5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive view of the indie/emo/hardcore/punk scene........2001-02-05

I bought this back when I was just getting into the whole scene and the only band I knew on the comp was Texas is the Reason. This comp opened me up into a vast prarie of great bands just screaming for my attention. It got me to get albums by The Promise Ring, Braid, At the Drive-In, Samiam, and Knapsack. The reason I don't have the other albums is because I cannot find them, or am not a big fan of their other stuff, which is the case with Drve Like Jehu, Jawbox, and HUM. But every song on here is beyond solid, and the comp plays like an album. It's a very emotionally and intellectually stimulating package of music, one which I strongly enjoy. My only problem is that there haven't been any other titles like this put out, because I would love for there to be a NOWCORE 2, and possibly many more after that, maybe including some stuff from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Lifetime, Rites of Spring, Embrace, Dag Nasty, Fugazi, Brandtson, Far, Jimmy Eat World, Sense Field, etc. I'd totally buy it. Just an idea. But until there is a NOWCORE 2, pick this up.

    5 out of 5 stars A great starter CD.......2000-03-15

This is an outstanding CD for those looking to get into some great bands.

If you know one of the bands on here and like them, then buy this CD to find more music from similar genres.

Each song on this CD is from a different category, but they all share something in common at the same time. It is a fabulous CD, and one that all people stuck in the Dave Matthews Band and Korn style music should listen to. It will introduce you to a bunch of outstanding bands.

Highly recommended. Best songs by: Hum, Promise Ring, Mineral, Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Samiam.

    GET THIS FROM AMAZON NOW!

4 out of 5 stars only one review?.......1999-10-24

it's sad. this is an exellent cd. i purchased it used. it is the ultimate comp. cd, along with any comp. from Kill Rock Stars. I don't love the promise ring, but their song on here is great. modest mouse (as always) sounds awsome. jawbox does a great job too. all the bands are perfect and this cd is great for listening to in your car. screw "emo".

        1 out of 5 stars Disappointing..........2007-05-21

This band was recommended by a friend. When I listened to it, what a disappointment! I usually don't discharge musical work from professionals but this one is really bad to my taste. I would not recommend it at all.

5 out of 5 stars the happy hardcore bible.......2005-04-20

amen to ryan (the previous reviewer), this is the bible of happy hardcore. every track on this release is a true anthem and they are mixed with brilliance only shown by the one scott brown. if you do not have this album in your collection, you are missing out.

5 out of 5 stars Scott Brown: THE GOD of Happy Hardcore.......2004-05-27

I mainly decided to write a review to correct the last review written by whoever wrote it..Happy Hardcore is not Hardcore trance..Hard Trance is a genre all its own..as is Happy Hardcore which is the Genre of this particular cd by Scott Brown. I haven't even purchased this cd yet but I've looked at the track list..and its nothing short of amazing..all of the tracks on here are beautiful Happy hardecore athems...In my opinion there is no better a genre than Happy hardcore to lift you up, make you sing and dance and give you that geniuine feeling of joy that music is supposed to.Who better to do that than the legendary King of Happycore Scott Brown...If you are a fan of Happycore...you probably already have or are planning to buy this cd...if you aren't and are jusrt dambling in the sometimes confusing genres and sub-genres of electronica...This cd is a prime example of Beatiful Happy Hardcore...buy it now..its worth every penny

5 out of 5 stars I have been searching for a trance genre to love...........2004-01-20

            And I finally found it...

Ever since a friend recommended me a few of Scott Brown's songs, I fell in love with this music. Hardcore Trance can be upbeat and uplifting or upbeat and dark. You mood can determine which songs you want to play, or you can listen to the songs and your mood will be thus determined!

This CD is great! Scott Brown can also be found on the Bonkers CD's.
