About the Artist
ETI hails from deep in the San Francisco dance underground. They've developed their music, live show and following to a point that they are ready to explode out of SF and into a bigger arena beyond the bay area. To really understand the San Francisco scene you have to go back, way back, to the days of Wicked, Come-Unity and the whole free party movement. ETI were, and still are, a part of this movement, as integral as DIY and Tonka are to the scene in the U.K.

Funky San Francisco House in a continuous mix recorded from a live pa (no dats!) at one of SF's most respected dance venues. The brainchild of Eric James and Buna, ETI celebrated the eighth anniversary of longstanding club night Come-Unity with this stunning live set, which was originally recorded, mastered and released through Oboro Records. It has since been acquired by IMIX Records for wider release on a national level.
The set incorporates tracks dating back from 96 all the way through to 99. The classic, 20 Minutes Of Disco Glory, produced in cahoots with Wicked/Grayhound label boss DJ Garth, and released on the same label, is featured in two mixes, both Acid Rock and Organ Grinder. Other highlights include the liquid, acidic, Soulfuric produced by Los Diablos Locos, 4th Of July with Liana Young's breathtaking vocals, and last but by no means least, the uptempo, dub house cover of Bob Marleys classic Exodus. All in all, a well rounded and super funky insight into the real house sound of San Francisco.

when you itch for house a bit left of center.........2000-12-27
The beats are decidedly funky and run through the deep-ringer, from the crisp opener "lookout" to the stellar acid rock mix of "20 minutes of disco glory." Riding all that bass groove are those lovely 303 knob twiddles messing with your head throughout the show; those not so squirm-inclined will still savor the bugged out delight "city of the gods" and the full-vocal "4th of July."
In fact only a few too-similar remix reprises and the curveball Bob Marley cover "xo dust" bump what is otherwise a thorough and chunky collection. A prime choice when you itch for house a bit left of center. Grade: B
