well..........2006-09-09
sketchy as whether this is worth the buy or not.the first 10 songs are the real wasted youth. then after that is the next 7", which sounds totally different, largly due to the fact theres a different singer, the way it is with hardcore in general if u change the singer uve pretty much changed the identity of the band. also the first part sounds like classic thrashy socal punk. but the 7" is more crossover/metal. and only the first two songs on it are good. the fact that the greater part of the 7" sucks and the lp seems so short. i definatly wouldnt have bought this new, $6 is a good price
classic So-Cal punk rock.......2006-08-26
Wasted Youth were a pretty big deal in southern california
back in the early 80's hardcore punk scene playing many gigs
with such legends as Black Flag, Fear and the Circle Jerks.
The first half of the cd is the classic Reagan's In album
from 1981, which musically reminds me off the Circle Jerks
'Group Sex' lp as well as other bands from that era like the
Adolescents and T.S.O.L..The second half of this cd contains
Wasted Youth's second album that was released sometime in the
mid 80's. This album sounds tottaly differnent with only one
original member left in the band. Musically this sounds like
later Circle Jerks or S.N.F.U.and is not nearly as good as
'Reagan's In' wich makes the cd well worth the buy.
Well Kept Secret.......2005-10-16
Great early 80s Hardcore Punk from LA. Think old Circle Jerks and you won't be far off. This disc comprises two LPs. The second has some metal influence and is a bit forgettable. Again, think Cirlce Jerks. Good overall though.
Reagans In.......2004-01-21
Wasted youth were a part of the LA hardcore punk scene. They should of gotten more and they diserved more recognition just like other great hardcore bands. This record would of gotten a 5 but the "get out of my yard" lp just wasn't all that good . There was only one original member left when this lp was recorded for all i know....
Get this album for reagans in and listen to true LA hardcore.

Re-release of original 1980's punk rock from NYC's first wave band who were regulars at CBGB's.
Customer Reviews:
One of the best live NY HC bands.......2007-01-19
I got to see Dave's band twice. Once in '83 at a Hare Krisna benefit in Tompkin's Square Park (with early Beasty Boys), then again at "The World" off of Houston in '84(?) with DOA/AOD/Dead Kennedys. Reagan Youth blew everyone else away. The live stuff is so much better than the studio. There was so much power and humor and rage in those live performances. I had seen a few local HC shows and liked the music and the scene, but these guys were on a completely different level. The only other band that completely floored me like that was Bad Brains.
great band, decent re-release..dont throw out collection of pop classics just yet.......2006-10-23
one question? where is Degenerated?!? that is one of the best Reagan youth songs and it is, for some unknown reason, left out of this release. im usually a sucker for this re-mastered/re-released stuff, but this one regresses by leaving off one of the best songs by them...and JUST that song!...and it's a shame because the sound is nice and remastered and this would have been a superb upgrade to the low sound level "collection of pop classics", but the exclusion of that single song makes the compilation an "ill pass" type of release
great otherwise, just dont believe the track listing, degenerated isnt there.
Classic Punk.......2005-03-31
THis is such a good album. The first songs rock and rest is annoying, but it grows in appreciaition. Buy it. its good
Miss them.......2004-10-06
I miss the old days when music was raw, which reagan youth was great at doing. RIP my old friend.

The alt-country movement has been a blessing to those who mix rock and country, which is about as exact a description of the Ditchdiggers as you need. They definitely rock, but their hearts are well out in the country. A lot of the songs on Cow Patty Bingo work--"I Don't Want to Know" is a standout--although the arrangements tend to be flat. But when it doesn't work, such as on "Grandpa" and a semi-hard-core version of Hank Williams's "You Win Again," it grates. However, the guitars rip and the rhythm section rattles along like a freight train, and singer Chris Gray sounds at times like a rural Eddie Vedder (strangely convincing). There's a lot to recommend about this record and perhaps there'll be even more to praise on their next one. --Chris Nickson

Customer Reviews:
A Cowpunk party.......2000-04-10
While the Ditchdiggers brand of cowpunk exemplifies what, in my opinion, is the future of music, with their blended genres and no boundaries style, the emphasis for them is on fun. Whether you call them part of the insurgent country movement, or identify them with any of the other new, yet meaningless categorical labels, the point is that they make great music and you can tell they have a good time doing it. Their infectious energetic melodies, which are equal parts rock and twang, are combined with, often humorous, lyrics that invoke a distinctively southern flavor. You can bet that Hank Sr. is somewhere listening to their cover of his song "You Win Again" with an approving rebel smile. This disk is the epitome of "hoe down" party music.
"Cow Patty Bingo" has quickly become one of my favorite disks (out of literally hundreds) and spends much more time in my CD player than it does in its case. Buy this disk, and if you ever have the chance, see them live. You will not regret it!
Pure Rockacowbilly Fun and Danceable!.......1999-05-17
Ditchdiggers are a great find! Strong rhythm, great leads, fun singing and "funner" lyrics. Foot stompin' easy-to-drive-to, loud rock and roll - reminds me of BIlly Lee Riley and the Little Green Men . I echo the review comments of Wayne Coomers and the Original Sins - Looks like Stuart, B. has found himself a nice niche - He deserves it- Man can flat out play - perhaps next CD will have lead a bit more Upfront and Loud.
Tentacles of Coomers Continue to Stretch.......1999-04-16
This cowpunk offering from a bunch of Georgia boys really hits the alt-country spot. One thing that distinguishes the band from the rapidly growing herd of rootsers is that they aren't obsessed with being tidy; their sincerity is unquestioned, but they cut it with dollops of sloppiness, rowdiness, loosey-goosey expressionism...in other words, they don't leave you feeling like you've eaten a chocolate covered cherry with no cherry inside (like Wilco and Son Volt do). Another interesting aspect to the band is that Bryan Stuart, their string-bender, is yet another graduate of the legendary-but-forgotten Arkansas slop-rock unit Wayne Coomers and the Original Sins, the architects of "the Fayetteville Sound" of the early '80s who inspired numerous no-talents to actually reinvent themselves and "get the spirit." Stuart's thirst for great music regardless of genre has turned him into one of the best "Americana" guitarists around. The Ditchdiggers deserve wider recognition, so buy this CD--NOW!
makes me want to hoedown!!!.......1999-03-23
Social Distortion meets Hank Williams...this stuff really rocks. Great originals and one high-octane cover of Hank William's "You Win Again" make this an album you gotta have. These guys have come up with a unique sound, with crisp guitar work, great holler'n, and some amazing fiddle, that makes wanna go drink moonshine and hoedown. There isn't a weak track on the album. I especially dig "Pocket Slide", "Grandpa", "You Win Again", and "Belle Air".
An awesome "gonna get ya movin'" kind of music!.......1999-02-10
The DitchDiggers struck gold their first time out! If you like country music with a rock feel you will love this CD. It's the kind of music which can't be just listened to...you HAVE to move! I can't wait for their follow-up! ga-peach

Product Description
Formed in the mid 90's this duo was first heard on the Black Market Disciple albums featuring Solrak of the B side Players and Pacheco from Psydecar. The band was born out of an idea to marry live and programmed music with interchangeble live components. The lineup on any given night would largely determine the feel of the music. But no two solos, sets or songs were ever the same. To achieve this each musician has to truly understand every part of every song. When you understand the story it all comes together!

Outrageous.......2006-07-17
I awoke one night to find myself engulfed in the midst of an outrageous feeling. Afirst, I thought myself to be ill, but then I realized that it was not a paralyzing, debilitating sickness that had provoked its vindictive wrath upon me, but it was this ALBUM that had left its mark through the night. The powerful emotional emotion contained within this relic is so emotionally sensual that it left an overwhelmingly heavy, so heavy it was almost weightless, feeling of absurdity that I felt as if I'd reached a plateau of existence that had never been reached by any living mortal soul.
Hoeever, I am no normal human. So, while I recomend this ALBUM to any person with a "soul," you should not go into this ALBUM experience expecting to reach a plateuu of existence such as was reached by me. My ability to comprehend vastly immense concepts is such that I can understand vastly immense concepts. This ALBUM is such a vastly immense concept.
If you've ever really enjoyed anything, or not, then you should buy this ALBUM. If you've ever slept at night and woken feeling refreshed, you should buy this ALBUM. If you've ever hungered for something so delicious that your very bones ached for it, and then it turned out to be undercooked, so it didn't satisfy you in the same manner that you had anticipated, so you ordered a salad too, and the salad had calamata olives, which you do not care much for, so you left the meal feeling full, but not completely satisfied, but sufficient to live another day, then you should but this album.
