A terrific record..........2006-04-23
And it is still available directly from Green Linnet on CD for about thirteen bucks. Check it out.
Beautiful.......2001-12-21
I bought this album on a whim, after a hard-working day. I already had a couple of their albums, but still wasn't quite prepared for this collection (from 2 different concerts, 2 different dates). What an alternately warm, rocking(!), moving and energetic set. Calling them the "Irish Beatles" is perhaps a bit silly, but it can't be denied that this is some of the finest Celtic/trad. Irish music ever recorded.
Traditional Irish at its best.......2001-07-17
The Bothy band is amazing...plain and simple. This album is everything the trad irish music lover could ever want. There are jigs, reels, laments...EVERYTHING. Grab your Guinness and put on your dancing shoes because this album will have you out of your chair and stepping all over the place!

Killer Show.......2007-02-05
I do not own the disk yet, it is still on my wish list. I recently seen the televised version a couple of times on VH-1 Classic it was a great experince for me. I've heard of this band before (pardon me, I was born in 1976), and they've always heard on classic rock radio, "The Boys are Back In Town", and a cover of "Don't Believe a Word" by Def Leppard, so when VH-1 Classic was announcing a couple of months back that they were televising some classic live at the BBC performances from The Police, Thin Lizzy, etc., I decided to check the shows out. I can't say that all the tracks on the disk were shown on the televised show, but the ones that were, sound brilliant to this day and you can hear the sound of this band influenced bands that came out later on. I must say that one of my favorite parts on this performance was the call-and -response routine between the lead singer and the audience while performing "Rosalie", all pouring their hearts out, knowing that the end of an era was coming. I'm looking for this disk at a more reasonable price, if not I guess, I'll get the Definitive Collection in the Meantime.
Lizzy's last show!.......2004-04-28
This disc is a must for Lizzy fans! As far as i can tell, not a single overdub.Raw,in your face, and laced with melancholy, as this is Thin Lizzy's last show with Phillip! Recorded at the Reading rock festival in 83.The final moments of this gig,you can really hear the sadness in Phils voice. I agree with the other reviewer,"A night in the life of a blues singer" oh my god! John Sykes is feeling the end of this band, and his solo will rip your friggin heart out!! Get it..
An unbelievable album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......1999-04-25
The outstanding track on this album is "the holy war" including one of Phils more outstanding riffs. this is a definate MUST have for a true Lizzy archive.
Does anybody has ever noticed "A Night in the life...".......1999-03-27
This CD contains the best song ever written by lynott, "A Night in the life of a blues singer". Throw an ear on John Sykes' solos on the song. Each of them is brilliant. The "quintessence" of guitar playing.
Powerful stuff.......1998-11-25
Great, grungy set that contains definitive versions of a lot of later Lizzy material ("Waiting on an Alibi", "Thunder and Lightning", etc.). These guys were one of the great live bands of their day -- they almost always sounded better live, in fact -- and as such all three of their live releases should be mandatory purchases for the true rock fan. Classic stuff.

A decent collector's item..........2003-12-23
and as the only full-length live release from their original lifespan, the album virtually recommends itself. However, it should be noted that Julianne's vocal performance is inconsistent - she seems out-of-breath, missing a lot of notes.
Apart from a very atmospheric mix with plenty of audience response, the main points of interest are the alternate versions of less-familiar second-album tracks (`Road...' and `Only One Reason' turn out best) and favorite b-sides (though `Paradise' is the 1989 arrangement, requiring a backing tape).
The highlight though is the set-closer - not only is this version of `In The Meadow' a chorus or two longer than usual, it's the most explosively energetic take on any official release - with the rhythm section finally letting off steam after all those slow songs, Tim puts a lot more effort into the solo than on either the `album' or `b-side' versions. Recommended for this track alone.

Not Bad...But..........2004-08-07
So far this is the only officially released concert recording of MSG on tour in 1982. This show was recorded in August at the Reading Festival in England. The band was promoting its Assault Attack album...but first, let's have a little background on what happened in 1982: In March, Gary Barden, the lead vocalist, was fired by Schenker because his managers thought a different vocalist might help to sell more records. They replaced Barden with Graham Bonnet, former vocalist of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. Bonnet & Schenker wrote the Assault Attack album and then went on tour to promote it. However, Bonnet only lasted a show or two before flaking out & disappearing. This happened two days before MSG were due to appear at the Reading Festival. Schenker did not want to cancel MSG's appearance so he contacted Barden and asked him to rejoin MSG. Barden agreed even though he did not know any of the songs from the Assault Attack album (nor had he performed for the past 5 or 6 months). So, what you have here on MSG's BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert is a recording of a show where the vocalist sounds a bit unrehearsed and the lead guitarist sounds a bit distracted at times. But it's still a good show. Schenker's sound is very good and his playing is pretty much up to par. The only flub track on this disc is Rock You To The Ground: Barden doesn't know the words and tries to fake it (and maybe this is why one Amazon reviewer thought he was drunk--but he wasn't). But hell, it's good for a laugh. What makes this disc unique amongst other MSG concert discs is the inclusion of Bijou Pleasurette and But I want More. Both are quite nice to listen to---and so are the other tracks (even Rock You To The Ground). Lost Horizons, as usual, is the star attraction. It begins with a sort of weak version of Courvosier Concerto (which isn't listed in the track listings) but gathers steam & momentum and ends up sounding just fine. Overall this is a good concert to own if you just have to have every early 80's MSG concert recording you can get your hands on. If you don't, then you'll probably be happy with just owning One Night At Budokan and/or Rock Will Never Die.
HEAVY BLUES.......2000-02-17
MICHAEL SOUNDS UNREHEARSED. GARY BARDEN SOUNDS DRUNK. ROCK YOU TO THE GROUND WITH GARY BARDEN ON VOCALS AND A HEAVY METAL VERSION OF BIJOU PLEASURETE MAKE THIS CD WORTH BUYING, IF YOU ARE AN MSG COLLECTOR. OTHERWISE KEEP LISTENING TO STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT, BUDOKAN AND THE UNFORGIVEN WORLD TOUR LIVE CD.

Customer Reviews:
PAT TRAVERS IS ANOTHER LEGENDARY GUITARIST THAT FOREVER CHANGED 70'S ROCK N' ROLL AND BEYOND. .......2007-04-08
I will be writing a review on the legendary historic live CD album entitled "THE PAT TRAVERS BAND, BBC RADIO 1 LIVE IN CONCERT" by one of Rock's greatest guitarists that dared to change 70's Rock n' Roll forever. I give you one of Toronto, Canada's pride and joy's, MR. PAT TRAVERS. This legendary live album was originally released as a Canadian import in 1992 on Compact Disc on the Windsong International label in association with Griffin Music and BBC Enterprises Ltd. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary live album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.
PAT TRAVERS will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for his blasting and thundering guitar riffs and licks not to mention his famous lyric quote "Snortin' Whiskey and Drinkin' Cocaine." Hailing from Toronto, Canada, When PAT TRAVERS came on the music scene in 1976, his goal was quite simple. TRAVERS' intentions in Rock n' Roll were extremely bad and to just kick a*s. PAT TRAVERS would release some great albums and incredible songs in the 70's. Legendary songs such as the 70's Rock anthem "Stevie," "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)," "Makin' Magic," "Crash And Burn," "Rock N' Roll Susie," "Stop And Smile" and "Snortin' Whiskey." Believe me when I say that there are many more songs that I failed to mention but I think you get the point. If the studio versions of these songs sounded great, just imagine how great these songs sounded live. PAT TRAVERS would release his first live album in 1979 entitled "LIVE! GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW" to highly critically acclaim. With this in mind, PAT TRAVERS was red hot and on fire when he played live which brings me to the live album I'm about to review for you now. In my opinion, the "BBC RADIO 1 LIVE IN CONCERT" is without a doubt, a true testament of the sheer genius and musical creativity of PAT TRAVERS and a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary performer that has forever left his mark in Rock n' Roll history.
Before I begin this review, I would like to stress that this legendary concert is taken from two different shows. Song tracks 1 through 9 are recorded live at the Reading Festival on 23 August 1980. Song tracks 10 through 13 are recorded live at Sight & Sound In Concert on 29 July 1977.
Now it is time to let PAT TRAVERS Rock n' Roll music speak for itself and do all of the talking. This legendary live album begins with the a*s kickin' hard Rocker "Rock n' Roll Susie," the slow tough and rugged hard Rocker "Your Love Can't Be Right," the blistering hard Rocker "Life In London," the legendary blues classic done the PAT TRAVERS way, "Born Under A Bad Sign," the in your face, a*s kicking hard Rocker "Boom Boom Out Go The Lights," the groundbreaking a*s kicking hard Rocker that would forever show you how to enjoy Whiskey and Cocaine, "Snortin' Whiskey," the breathtaking hard a*s Rocker "Hooked On Music," the fast and speedy guitar whining hard Rocker "Hammerhead," the slow but energetic hard kicking Rocker "It Makes No Difference," the incredible quick chord changing a*s kicking hard Rocker "It Ain't What It Seems," the blasting hard Rocker "Gettin' Betta," the guitar whining and screeching hard Rocker "You Don't Love Me" and the forever PAT TRAVERS trademark thrashing hard Rocker "Makin' Magic." Again, I just have to stress the incredible and blistering guitar riffs and licks that TRAVERS delivered through his guitar during the live recordings of both these shows. TRAVERS was so hot and on fire that you can almost envision rising flames on TRAVERS guitar strings as he is playing.
Overall, this is one hell of a live album worth seeking further into and checking out especially if you are a diehard PAT TRAVERS fan or a devout music collector. As for all of the curious newcomers and new beginners to the sound and music of PAT TRAVERS, I would definitely recommend buying this album. Because after you listen to this live album, you will want to buy more albums on this legendary artist. There are many PAT TRAVERS albums and compilation albums to choose from. Either way, you will not regret it nor will you ever be sorry or disappointed that you bought a PAT TRAVERS album.
I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary historic live album to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This legendary live album has definitely already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. This is one great live album that no music fan or devout music collector would want to be without.
In closing, PAT TRAVERS has continued to stay active in the Rock n' Roll world consistantly with the release of his new albums and touring the world to promote them. PAT TRAVERS has continued to entertain and perform before sold-out audiences the world over up to this very day. With this in mind, I guess it is safe to say that PAT TRAVERS is here to stay and is not going anywhere anytime soon. PAT TRAVERS has forever left his mark in Rock n' Roll history and will never be forgotten even if he takes a long break. So here's to you Pat. Thanks for the great memories. Keep Persevering. Keep The Faith. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. PAT TRAVERS RULES. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever In Rock, John L.
Guitars-est--Best to see him `LIVE`--.......1999-02-03
One of the tops influential players in the world. I`m told, he`s currently touring lightly(family,time..). I strongly suggest to see him playing live(luckyly--small venue--or unlucky, depending how you look at it) G-stuffs
