Throughout the 1980s, "We are the Scorpions!" was lead vocalist Klaus Meine's concert-opening battle cry, energizing and readying the faithful in sold-out stadiums for a Teutonic onslaught of vital, sometimes plodding, eardrum-splitting rock anthems. In short, the arena-rock monsters were never a picnic-under-the-stars kind of band ... until Moment of Glory. The new millennium brings the Scorpions full circle, melding in-your-face party anthems like "Rock You Like a Hurricane" (now called "Hurricane 2000") and "Big City Nights" into fully orchestrated concoctions featuring the Berlin Philharmoniker. Where the grandiose likes of "Wind of Change" and "Still Loving You" are obvious choices for such a pairing, and indeed, work well, the "Deadly Sting Suite," with almost unrecognizable instrumental versions of "He's a Woman, She's a Man" and "Dynamite," will likely catch the unknowing fan of classic Scorps off guard. Both Deep Purple and Metallica have used full orchestras to accent their songs with mixed results, and the same goes for the Scorps. There's a fine line between wine-and-cheese classical fare and whiney and cheesy metal. Here the Scorpions teeter, if often gracefully, on that line. --Katherine Turman

Customer Reviews:
Got me hooked on Scorpions.......2007-04-12
I absolutely love the marriage of rock and symphony here. It's gorgeous. The Scorpions take already amazing songs and pump them up an extra notch. A long time ago I heard "Still Loving You" on the radio, not knowing who sung it. It took me years to finally discover the Scorpions. I own two different versions of "Still Loving You," and I far prefer this one to the original. It gives me this yearning inside. The only thing I don't like about this album is the guest vocalists. I love Klaus Meine. He adds an ethereal element to the music, and with the guest vocals, it takes away from the beauty, in my opinion. But don't let that deter you from getting this, because it is so worth it. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" is amazing! It's all amazing!
Moment of Glory.......2007-04-01
With metal music it is always louder is better and this album found one of the coolest ways to make metal louder. Combining the Scorpions with a the Philharmonic creates one of the coolest sounding albums I have ever heard.
[].......2007-03-14
i dont own this album but i have heard the songs off of it and i think their all great and performed well. and also as a side note since i read alot of comments about the guest vocals on "big city nights" but no mention of who: it is Ray Wilson best known for replacing Phill Collins in Genesis and recording the classic Calling all Stations
dynamite!.......2002-10-21
Just when you think the scorpions couldn't do worst...they prove you wrong!
Even Metallica's s&m is better...close but still.
I am sure that it was a great experience to live, for the band and the audience, because that type of event is always unique and can bring strong emotions-unless you have a dumb..s sitting next to you, drinkin' beer and screaming every five minutes Dynamiiiiiiite!!-but on cd...for me it doesn't do it,but it probably is a treasure for those who were there.
Now, I'm not gonna start the debat with DEEP PURPLE and the LSO(1999) but I was there at the Royal Albert Hall and that's why I can understand the concept and the thrill of holding the recording of such concerts...but still DEEP PURPLE 's symphonic album features something that neither Scorpions or Metallica holds...and this is an ORIGINAL PIECE OF MUSIC CREATED FOR A GROUP AND A ORCHESTRA!
Truly a Moment of Glory for the Scorpions!.......2002-07-31
AWESOME is how I would sum up this CD. From the moment I first heard it, I knew I HAD to have it. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

You'll be disappointed.......2006-09-02
Not the original artists. Very weak versions of beloved songs by marginal to downright bad vocalists.
Pretty good musical mix.......2006-03-10
Lots of great and clear vocals. I was looking for a musical mix and this has a nice sampling of many major songs but also some more recent stuff. I haven't purchased an import before but I would do it again if the opportunity presented itself. It is somewhat annoying to have three cds when I think it could have fit onto two. Still, more than I have complaints, I have compliments about it.

Customer Reviews:
Smashing Album.......2005-11-11
Any album that gives us Jason Graae singing "Smashing, New York Times" is worth having.
Great singers, not so great music.......2001-12-26
I love hearing songs from forgotten and lost musicals, and I enjoyed Unsung Musicals I, but I was disappointed with this one. "Lawyers" is easily the best song on the CD. Most of the other songs are ballads, and dull ones at that. (Admittedly, I am not a big ballad fan.) Looks like Bruce Kimmel's song selection process kind of flattened out here. Why, for example, did they choose a ballad from Foxy, when by all accounts the songs originally sung by Bert Lahr in that show were a lot of fun? On the other hand, the singers are very respectable and always worth listening to. Glory Crampton definitely needs more leading roles! My advice is to listen to the song snippets first, to determine if these songs are your thing.
Once again, unsung perhaps, but often wonderful.......2001-02-15
This is the second fine CD in the series of three. These selections may be songs that are not well known from shows in the same category, but some of these are real gems, sung by fine show singers. My favorites are "Lawyers" (from A Broadway Musical), "Everything in the World" (The Yearling), "Smashing New York Times" (also A Broadway Musical), "Run Cinderella" (Foxy), and "Phantom of the Opera" (title song from the Rupert Holmes show). There was a third CD in this series. If its not longer available, they should reissue it. Its on a par with the other two in the series.
A Must-Have for Musical Fans.......2000-03-25
The Unsung Musicals albums are a treasure for those who are "mega-fans" of musical theatre. All the songs share the tragic fate of being in a musical that just never made it on the Great White Way.
Some of the songs are somewhat cloying, such as "One Promise Come True." However, there are also some real gems, such as "Lawyers," which has some clever rhymes and a catchy tune. You also get the added bonus of hearing some great singers perform such as Sally Mayes, Rebecca Luker and Davis Gaines.
Overall, this recording is great for both its entertainment and its historical value.

Customer Reviews:
hurricane 2000.......2000-08-11
I just heard this track on the radio and could not help being amazed by it's grandeur. It starts out ripping into an orchestral stringed flurry, settles into the renowned anthem we all know backed by a powerful high pitched whine of the orchestra, and finishes strong with the original strings. Very powerful music. It's one of those tracks you hear once and vow to find the album to own, even if just for that single addictive sound.
Moment of Glory (CD Single) (Import).......2000-07-16
I have not yet purchased this single or album, but will do very shortly. I have been listening to the song daily on our local radio station. In my view it is some of the best work the scorpions have done for years,on the single alone. I will be buying the album for sure!
Excellent! Perfect! Two thumbs up!.......2000-07-13
Well SCORPIONS are German ! arent they? those are the grandsons of Beethophen for sure! 100% Quality music! worth every cent and penny!
I feel very proud for being a SCORPIONS fan!
So come on and buy it,.. this is what I call music
Classical Comeback.......2000-07-12
This CD will appeal to old time fans of the German rockers. And although the classical element may scare away a few, I recommend a listen before U dismiss this recording. Two legends have come together and it shows-all the power, all the finesse....Buy it before it stocks out. This one will rock U like a hurricane.
Scorpions Gone Classic(al)!.......2000-07-04
Yes, the German rockers have teamed up with Berlin Philharmonic orchestra in full force to record this new track. An inspirational power ballad penned by frontman Klaus Meine himself.
Chosen as the offical anthem for Expo 2000 in Hanover in which they have performed the song live.
For Scorpions and any hard rock lovers out there, I strongly recommended this latest classic (not classical)!

Got a surprise and loved it........2001-04-23
I meant to buy the soundtrack and we picked up the score instead not reading the package and didn't know there were two different CDs... Not only were we pleasently surprised -- it is the best driving music ever... It's smooth and enjoyable... So, for a party -- the Soundtrack with Funk is down -- but just to relax -- pick up the score.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!.......1999-10-05
This is an awsome score. Each time a muppet cd comes out, I never have time to buy it. Whenever I go to the store to buy it, it's out of print. KEEP THIS ONE IN PRINT FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY.

Customer Reviews:
Best Hard Rock Orchestra Out There.......2006-06-14
Before I start this review, let me just tell you that I absolutely abhor glam metal (better known as hair metal), minus a band here and there that captures my ears; other than that, I hate everything it represents: a radio-friendly, poppy approach to metal that glorifies sex, drugs, and overall immorality. Not to say that what our music is today is anything different, but as an authentic metalhead, hair metal defies everything that makes heavy metal great, and I am bitter against it for dominating the airwaves in the 1980s. However, I appreciate a good orchestral accompaniment to nearly any good rock band, and when I heard about this album from a friend of mine, I was somewhat torn. The Scorpions were indeed among the hair metal bands I did not like, but I didn't hate them as much because of their European professionality and wonderful power ballad "Wind of Change", so I decided to give it a listen. I must say, I was blown away by how seamlessly the orchestra combined with the simplicity of the band, making feel-good rock songs such as "Rock You Like A Hurricane" into orchestrations of epic proportions.
Before this I had heard symphony collaborations like Metallica's "S&M" and KISS' "Alive IV", but both of those albums were performed live and the orchestra wasn't as loud and prominent as I would've liked it to be, being overpowered by the sheer loudness of the band, so this album was a pleasant surprise for me. I did expect the album to be live, but as soon as I heard the opening track "Hurricane 2000" to be free of cheers and applause of any kind, my heart lept, and the track continued on to be audience-free. By the end of the song I was quite amazed at how well the orchestra fit in with the band. The album continued and this same seamless integration remained constant through all the songs, most noticeably in old favorites like "Wind of Change" and "Big City Nights" and the brand-new title track, which has a sentimentality similar to that of "Wind of Change".
Though I have heard orchestral accompaniments to rock bands before (being mainly a power metalhead), this is one of the better ones to accompany a mainstream rock band, beating the Metallica and KISS albums to the ground. Now that I've heard this album, I can't even listen to their old songs (the ones I even listened to, mind you) without imagining the songs that I've heard on here. So whether you're a Scorpions fan looking for something fresh (seeing as their '99 release "Eye II Eye" was a disappointing flop) or fiending for a quality orchestral rock hybrid in the vein of the inevitably mentioned Metallica and KISS, then you must check this out, for this album is a sure winner in any rock collection.

AMAZING.......2003-06-06
I think it is the best performance of Scorpions! Absolutely fascinating! I have goose bumps every time I listen to this album!
Musically far better than metallica.......2000-09-04
Hey fans, i've been a scorpions and a metallica fan for quite a long time. therefore i should be objective in the case of comparing the two projects. if you like heavy stuff more, it's very likely that you will prefer metallica's record. it just contains more of it. the scorpions try to melt the orchestra and the band. that's why their arrangements leave more space for the virtuosity of the orchestra (which is considered to be among the world's 3 best). the scorpions themselves try to change their songs to adapt them to classical playing. overall, the scorpions record sounds more symphonic and technically far better. the deadly sting suite can't be topped by any of the metallica songs. some songs are too schmaltzy but yet perfectly arranged and played. on metallica's record i had the imagination that sometimes the orchestra destroyed the power of the songs. the scorpions on the other hand were able to find a perfect arrangement for most of the songs. hurricane 2000 really rocks and the soft songs really sound more romantic than ever before - try it!
In many ways better than Metallicas S/M!.......2000-08-06
I am hoping that the Scorpions release this on DVD/video because it was a spectacular melding of Rock music with orchestra. Far more successful than the Deep Purple or recent Moody Blues plus strings releases (both at the alber Hall). Although Metallica has the edge on arrangements with Kamen and shear size..(2cds) the Berliner Philharmoniker's performance is awe inspiring! Klaus' vocals cut through the arrangements better than James' growling with Metallica and the lead guitar riffs on Wind of Change and Still Loving You...are orgasmic and the tone with the orchestra elevates them to an ethereal level..if you are a scorpions fan ..what are you waiting for? the book is chocked full of cool photos and the bonus CD rom disc is FANTASTIC..with a Making of EPK and other goodies!! lots for the money...
Rockarmonic !.......2000-07-18
I've listen to this record and i've found it spetacullar, a perfect combination between rock and classic music and instrumentation.
