This teaming of Linda Ronstadt and Cajun folk traditionalist Ann Savoy, billing themselves as the Zozo Sisters, shows how wide is the musical range of bittersweetness. The harmonies and shared lead vocals offer a complementary contrast between Ronstadt's purity of tone and Savoy's more piquant expressiveness. The arrangements turn folk songs into art songs, drawing as much upon chamber strings as Cajun fiddle and accordion. There's an exquisite beauty to the vocals, but the real surprise is how well the album holds together, given a range of material that extends from Cajun songs in French patois to stellar material from Julie Miller ("I Can't Get Over You," with husband Buddy Miller on guitar) and Richard Thompson ("King of Bohemia," "Burns' Supper") to a disarming revival of the Left Banke's 1960s hit "Walk Away Renee." Among other highlights, "Go Away from My Window" provides a showcase for the upper register of Ronstadt's soprano, and Savoy's lead vocals on Bill Monroe's "The One I Love Is Gone" bring out the blues in bluegrass. --Don McLeese

Customer Reviews:
Five Stars for One Track .......2007-07-16
The song "Marie Mouri" was the only good track on the entire album. It has a lot of feeling and soul. Truly well done.
The rest of the album was flat, unimpressive, and way overproduced. Two really good singers overpowered by a bunch of musical(sic) prima-donnas.

Adieu False Heart.......2007-05-10
This is an absolute masterpiece, expertly produced and arrainged.
Hauntingly beautiful folksy romance with alittle country twinge.
Linda Ronstadt continues to melt my heart with each new release and
she is certainly one of the finest female singers on the planet.
ann savoy sounds just like her and they share the lead and harmonies
half&half.Several of the songs are in french and that works well
for them, love it.Hear one of the most outstanding female lead vocal
preformances of the century so far on"Go away from my window" by
Linda. If you love sophisicated ADULT ROMANCE go ahead a take a chance.
Breathtaking..........2007-03-10
This album blew me away. The songs are simple and the singing is heartfelt. The vocal harmonies are perfection! I can't say enough good things about this album.
Cajun Celtic Bluegrass.......2007-02-13
With uncomplicated beauty, Linda Ronstadt and Ann Savoy have given us an outstanding album of unusual music. Recorded at The Cypress House on Bayou Tesche in Parks, Louisiana, these songs could be described as Cajun Celtic Bluegrass. I love the toe-tapping Celtic bluegrass numbers mixed with Cajun ballads sung in French and the instrumental interludes consisting of dulcimers and resophonic violas. The harmonies are truly awesome. And these ladies give us a cover of Walk Away Renee that is stunningly beautiful. If you enjoying collecting rare flowers, this CD is for you.
Beautiful album.......2007-02-06
Beautiful voices; beautiful songs. I listen to this album at home, at work, and in the car, and I bought the album for two friends.

Customer Reviews:
Probably the best compilation of a single composer's works. Ever!.......2007-05-06
Claude Debussy is perhaps the most understated composer in the history of man. His ability to compose both on the piano and for orchestra is unmatched, in my humble opinion. The fact that Debussy was able to also arrange many contemporary and previous composers' works just adds to his resume. He had a gift, pure and simple.
Although this album doesn't (well, honestly it couldn't) contain all of Debussy's catalog, it does certainly contain some of his best work. There is actually only one track on this CD that I don't care for; that would be Golligwogg's Cake-Walk; it is just a bit annoying to me.
Beyond my dislike for that one track, the entire CD is a beautifully aranged, beautifully played, well recorded compilation with good sound mixing and it is a respectful tribute to a truly great composer.
"Claire de Lune" (Moonlighting) is perhaps one of the most gorgeous pieces of music ever composed; this is the orchestrated version, which I prefer, but the piano version is nice. "Arabesque No. 1" is superb. "Fetes" is both haunting and airy. "Reverie" is the best piano piece I have ever heard. "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" is also a wonderful piano piece. "The Sunken Cathedral" is dark and mysterious, a true wonder.
The rest of the album is fantastic. Listed above are just my personal favorites from the disc. I listen to this CD at least once a week, but often more. It is perfect for relaxation, for listening while reading, or for my personal favorite use, to block out noise while I am writing.
I would recommend this to any classical lover.
If you have not heard Debussy's music, you must get this CD; it will have you ordering more of his compositions almost immediately.
The man was a genius.
I would also add that if you enjoy this, I recommend that you continue your Debussy experience with the following: Debussy: Orchestral Works I and Debussy: Orchestral Works II
This is a brilliant assembly of Debussy. .......2006-07-08
After listening to his "Greatest Hits," I know why he is considered one of the best.
THIS IS THE STUFF RIGHT HERE!.......2005-09-12
I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I WAS TRYING EXPAND MY HORIZONS, YOU KNOW? CULTURALLY AND MENTALLY, YOU KNOW? SERIOUSLY THOUGH I WAS IN THE SHOP AND I WAS HAVING A GAZE AROUND THE PLACE AND THEN THIS PICTURE JUST JUMPS OUT AT ME, AND I PICKED IT UP AND IT WAS THIS DEBUSSY CHAP AND ID HEARD ABOUT HIM ON THE BBC LEARNING ZONE SO I THOUGHT ;why not?; SERIOUSLY THOUGH I DRAGGED IT HOME AND I POPPED IT IN THE OLD CD PLAYER AND IT FLOORED ME.......I MEAN SERIOUSLY THIS THING...AMAAZING STUFF..I MEAN TODAYS MUSIC HAS NOTHING, NOTHING NOTHING ON THIS STUFF RIGHT HERE.
SOME GOOD TRACKS ARE:
TRACK 1 IS THE BEST. THE OPENING FLUTE ON THE TRACK IS TOTALLY CHILLED AND COOL, REMINDS ME A BIT OF TRACK 13 ON ILL COMMUNICATION BY THE BEASTIE BOYS...A COINCIDENCE???
THE ONLY WEAK TRACK ON THE ALBUM IS TRACK 6, THE UNFORTUNATELY TITLED "CHILDRENS CORNER SUITE: GOLLIWOGGS CAKE WALK" THE MUSIC IS JUST DATED MAN, JUST AS DATED AS THE TITLE.
OVERALL THOUGH THIS IS A QUALITY ALBUM, WITH CHILLS, SPILLS AND THRILLS. SERIOUSLY THOUGH A FINE EFFORT.
Debussy is the best. Ever........2004-07-23
I love Debussy and all of his brilliant work. I barely listen to any other classical music, so I am not an authority, just an honest lover of music. I play piano and love piano music, so I was not disappointed at a piano Flaxen-Haired Girl. I've never heard an orchestrated version and don't need to. This is a good introductory CD to Debussy's work, I love it! The only thing I don't care for is the Arabesque #1 (Track 9). The horn is kind of grating and clunky to hear in such an otherwise beautiful piece. Still, its interesting and different. Everything Debussy made is purest gold.
i am dumb.......2004-07-01
And I'm a doomass because I didn't proof-read my other review and I wrote that Clair de Lune was performed by piano on this disc, which it isn't. Anyway, the piano version is better.

The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26
I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.
Please buy it.
A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10
Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.
The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).
This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.
I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.
a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15
I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.
Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

Very pleased.......2007-06-10
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this CD. True, I could have listened on line before buying but that would have taken the fun out of the purchase. Besides, I really didn't care for the CD the first couple of times I listened but now I really love it. It's not something to listen to all the time but given the right circumstances e.g. a small gathering of friends, it's perfect. If I'd listened to online, I wouldn't have purchased it.
Sumptuous and mellow.......2002-11-28
The six men of the King's Singers present sweet and light-hearted madrigals of such English composers as Morley, Weelkes, Dowland, Wilbye and Byrd. The thirty five selections include "Now is the Month of Maying", "Though Philomela Lost Her Love", "Sing We and Chant It," the celebration of tobacco entitled "Come, Sirrah Jack, Ho!" and a host of other fa-la-la-la-la venues interspersed with wistful laments. I love the rich, sonorous sound of a male vocal ensemble, with countertenors, tenor, baritones and bass, and these six singers do a great job. Occasional instrumental accompaniments by lute and tabor are included, but this group doesn't really need it--I could listen to them for hours all by themselves. Also quite enjoyable, as well as educational, is their earlier release, "The King's Singers' Madrigal History Tour: Italy, England, France, Spain and Germany". For a more risque' take on the vocal music of Renaissance England, you might get a kick out of "The Art of the Bawdy Song" by the Baltimore Consort with the Merry Companions.
One of the Best Collections of English Madrigals.......2002-03-27
Any fan of the King's Singers will regret not having this album in their collection.
This album offers a veritable feast of the choicest English madrigals found on any comparable album. From the obligatory "Now is the Month of Maying" and "Fair Phyllis" to the more obscure "Tan ta ra, cries Mars," there is certainly enough on this album to bring a smile to lovers of Renaissance music - and a spark of recognition to anyone who sang traditional madrigals in high school or university. For serious students of early music, this album comes very highly recommended.
Among the more sonorous offerings on this album, Jones' "Farewell, Dear Love" and Dowland's "Come Again," cannot be ignored. Nor can Bennet's immortal "Weep O mine eyes" be matched more musically than here by the King's Singers.
This album has been played again and again for almost 6 years as both serious listening and background working music. And it has yet to lose its delight.
A Delightful Collection of English Madrigal.......2000-08-16
With 35 tracts to enjoy you're sure to find a couple of favorites. I gave this CD 4 of 5 stars compared to 5 stars for the King's Singers World Madrigal Tour CD. If you prefer all your songs in English, this will be your 5 star CD. Tract 32 "Come again" is my favorite due to the surperb tenor lead and melodic development. Compared to many polyphonic early music styles (1300s-1485), this era (1500-1610) provides many memorable melodies.
A wide variety.......2000-04-28
This is an excellent sampling of English madrigals. This presentation, given by an older roster of the Singers, is a nice introduction to the world of the madrigal, and English madrigals in particular.

T-Bone Burnett has been hard at it since his last record of original songs in 1992: nominated for a songwriting Oscar, winning a production Grammy, composing movie soundtracks, and serving as one of his trade's most valuable studio musicians. But with those most fascinated by his remarkable resume, it's all about the songwriting, and on The True False Identity, Burnett substantiates his role as a composer and performer steeped in traditional American music. Backed by a scrupulous cast of players and drawing on his candidly innovative wordplay, Burnett not only has put the world on notice, he appears far from content with the outlook. "The cat's out of the bag/And it ain't going back," he pleads wearily over a machine-gun drum in "Fear Country," one of several tunes where Burnett enunciates more as dustbowl rapper than west coast songster. His relevant narrations include an undercurrent of religion in law ("Blinded by the Darkness"), the modification of history ("Every Time I Feel the Shift") and a cadenced appraisal of Frank Sinatra and his running buddies ("Palestine, Texas"). Teaming a Dylan-like poetry scheme with a searing guitar lead, "Palestine" begins as a mis chievous nursery rhyme, until Burnett aims his invective at the nation's leaders: "When you come out of this self-delusion/You're gonna need a soul transfusion." Listening to The True False Identity, we've already got ours. --Scott Holter

Really enjoyed this unusual CD.......2007-01-05
I don't know Burnett but really liked this CD. It is thought provoking and also satisfying musically.
Middle age, white, goofy-looking Texan guy raps (and rocks!).......2006-11-21
You probably will not like this album when you first listen to it.
I didn't.
... and I literally own every record he's ever made. No kidding.... everything. I'm a huge T-Bone fan and have been since his Alpha Band days.
But this album is different than anything he's done before. Heck, it's different than anything I've ever heard before.
It's kind of genre-bending... it strikes me as either a kind of Texan folk rap or maybe it's just one of the best poetry slams ever. But it's not really folk music and it's not really rock and roll. He doesn't sing a melody in most of the songs... he raps. But this isn't hip-hop rap -- it's white guy rap.
Like with most innovative music, it took me awhile to figure out what he was even trying to do. It doesn't help that I don't really like most rap, because I like a melody to my music.
But I do like a good bluesy jam sessions and he does a lot of that behind his "rapping." Don't think normal rap, though. Burnett isn't trying at all to pretend he's a gangsta rapper -- not that he ever could pull it off!
Instead he "raps" about middle age liberal white guy stuff. Well, that me! So after a bunch of listenings, I figured out the album and now I really like it. It's not my favorite, all-time Burnett album but it is better than his average.
I am deducting one star because -- well -- this is simply not a five star album. Pioneering and brilliant? Yes. An all-time classic? No.
(I should add that my six year old daughter likes it too! I have no idea why. She also likes Raffi.)
So, should you buy this album?
If you're looking for "comfort zone" folk, rock and roll or even rap, you should probably look elsewhere.
If you're a free thinker and looking for something different and innovative -- then this is a CD for you. Who knows? This might be the start of a whole new genre of music and you can say you were on the first floor of the movement.
Grammys - best album (CD)yes0.......2006-11-14
this is potent for an artist who says "i am not important".all Burnett's music has been astounding & important to many (who are comfortable in their own "skin-teeth or otherwise).excellent writing-musicianist-wonderful & think about it songs.I qoute him in everyday speech.Great."Fear Country" & "Paradise are so far the ons I play often.there is no better songwriter in the country in an era of dull w/ the exception of Dylan & Morrison sporadically.Best CD-of thje years in the Grammys-I voted long ago when ya could deny anythin' ya said-I'll stick w/ the T B works.
11th Commandment.......2006-09-13
T-Bone Burnett shares a place with a handful of artists who have strong and devoted followings, but whose music is perhaps too thoughtful to sell huge quantities. Quality is often more important that quantity. Burnett burns on his new set. My favorite track is "Seven Times Hotter Than Fire" with its driving electric guitar and the mesmerizing tromp of T-Bone's burning footsteps, "If I was dead & buried in the cold hard ground, I would rise from the grave & come & track you down." Another favorite is "Baby Don't You Say You Love Me" with a similar tribal beat pulsing and T-Bone's voice emotionally raw, "Every day you haunt me, first you hex me then you taunt me, then you leave me in this twisted misery." These tunes rank with his best work. From T-Bone's early days with the B-52 Bombers to the Alpha Band, T-Bone has pushed the limits with experimentation. On "Blinded by the Darkness" we experience Burnett's talk-sing as the guitars create a wall of chaos in the way he views the current political landscape, "Shouldn't sin be left to the laws of God & to the laws of nature; Can we trust this to the legislature." Similarly on "Every Time I Feel the Shift" Burnett talk-sings his frustrations about popular culture's shallow nature that could forget an 11th Commandment, had there been one. When Burnett rocks as he does on "Zombieland" & "Palestine Texas," his music is cutting edge. "The True False Identity" is an excellent set. Set against the backdrop of his classic catalog, it may shine slightly less. However, on its own merits, it's worth the exploration. Enjoy!
5 stars, 5 times over!.......2006-07-19
"Disappointed" wrote a review giving 1 star after listening only twice? C'mon buddy, I wasn't sure of it after 2 listens either - give it a go. Quite a few listens later, my opinion of this wonderful recording is that it's stupendously good. Highly sophisticated musicianship, amazingly detailed and layered production, every song full of interesting sounds, melodies, rythyms and thoughts. Some rasping, blues-fuelled steamrollers live amongst these songs. Other tracks, just as arresting provide the space to breathe again. The closing song "Shaken Rattled And Rolled" sounds like an awakening disguised as a lament. This is exhilarating stuff and I don't expect there will be a better album in 2006. As classic as Bob Dylan's "Time out of Mind".

If not as impressive as Robert Cray's breakthrough recording, Bad Influence, released two years earlier, False Accusations is still a fine album with few missteps. One thing that Cray does very, very well is a blues ballad, something that his soul-inflected vocals and guitar playing suit him for. The result, on this album, is songs like the humorously bittersweet "She's Gone," the determined "The Last Time (I Get Burned Like This)," and "I've Slipped Her Mind," which perfectly captures the mood of the disappointed (but still unrealistically hopeful) suitor. The opener "Porch Light" is a scorcher with a killer bass line, and Cray's guitar on the title track in particular comes through crisp and clean. If a couple of songs (notably "Change of Heart, Change of Mind" and "Playin' in the Dirt") seem a bit lacking in energy, the rest of the CD more than makes up for it. --Genevieve Williams
Customer Reviews:
Cray's finest hour.......2006-03-15
Blues music has become more streamlined in recent years, thanks largely in part to the amazing career of Stevie Ray Vaughan, who took Texas swing blues to millions of new listeners. His life was cut tragically short, with Clapton bearing the torch for white man blues, although this reviewer considers Clapton overrated, boring and unimaginative.
Robert Cray has been on the blues scene for decades now, but has yet to break out with a mega-hit. It certainly isn't for lack of talent- it's just that Cray plays with a sophistication and maturity that doesn't lend itself to overwrought blues wailing.
"False Accusations", the second album from the Robert Cray Band, smolders and wafts out of the speakers like a layer of smoke in a small jazz club. His crisp blues playing is soulful and subtle, but the real charm is the healthy addition of soul from the great Stax/Volt days of the late sixties. Cray's voice recalls the greats - Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and the keyboards, usually a Hammond organ background lift the music to ethereal dreamy levels seldom heard in blues music.
"Porch Light" sets the mood and pace - love and no love, sometimes in the best and worst situations, all with soloes that reflect the tone of the songs beautifully.
Stand out tracks include "She's Gone", the gritty "Playing In The Dirt", and a beautiful ballad "The Last Time I Get Burned Like This."
If you long for the days of the Hammond B-3 organ and other cool keyboards, incredible vocals and the touch of cool jazz in your blues, this is the premier place to get it.
Very solid stuff.......2001-08-23
This album -- more than its predecessor, _Bad Influence_ -- highlights the Cray that was to come to the fore in _Strong Persuader_ and _Midnight Stroll_. Songs like "Porch Light" (probably my favorite Cray tune ever), "Playing in the Dirt" are playful, but with an edge -- "She's Gone" and "I've Slipped Her Mind" are about as sad a pair as you'll find. Cray's singing and guitar playing are extremely strong. The only slip up is in song selection: "Same Old Funky Thing" is just goofy, and "Sonny" is well-meaning but dull. But if you want to see why the blues is still around today, this is an important album to own.
A solid performance, but not his best.......2001-01-01
This release caught Robert Cray in a between mode. Not as raw as Bad Influence and not as polished as Strong Persuader. Still, it's a strong performance with plenty of Cray's trademark stacatto guitar and smooth vocals.

If you're looking to label this music as one sort or another--classical, jazz, bluegrass--you're bound to get into trouble. The two Quartets at work here--the Turtle Island String Quartet and the Ying Quartet--are innovators, blending absolutely classical training with a love of experimentation, improvisation, and an ear for unusual textures. The CD begins with a cool, swinging, true jazz classic ("Yearnin'") for the full octet and ends with a version of John Lennon's "Because" which captures the piece's melancholy in just the right manner. Along the way, an original work by the Turtle Island cellist, "Julie-O," discovers the darker and more virtuosic reaches of the pair of cellos. Darius Milhaud's "La Creation du Monde," a 1923 piece that explored the combination of European classical music and jazz, gets a new arrangement, and another original piece, "Variations on an Unoriginal Theme," pits one quartet against the other in a friendly competition that touches on R&B and Samba. This is a unique CD--entertaining and original. --Robert Levine

There's a giant in the room.......2006-03-03
This is a just a great album to listen to. Weird and wonderful music, executed with joy and precision. There's a lot of power in this music, but it's delivered with such frivolous confidence that you barely notice there's a giant in the room. And as an added bonus, the album is sonically extremely pleasing. This recording has fantastic presence and ambience. A definite buy.
great for dinner parties .......2006-02-22
A great album - similar to the modern music composed by the Kronos Quartet, but more jazzy and upbeat. Every piece on this album is different and interesting- yet closer listening one can hear the themes that tie them all together. I've given this album to 5 people over the holidays - to both classical music lovers and those who never owned a string-quartet CD - and all have really enjoyed it.
A cross-over hit that refuses to compromise itself!.......2006-02-10
OK, I admit I bought this CD because they were nominated for a Grammy (which they just won). It has quickly become one of my favorite discs. It's amazing what these performers can do with their instruments. I really enjoy "Yearnin'," and although I'm always skeptical about Beatles arrangements, the lush harmonies of "Because" lend themselves well to a classical/jazz interpretation. Our family is a big fan of the Yings, and we hope to hear more from this wonderful quartet!
a truly great recording.......2005-07-23
as a founding member of this group, I want to say that this current lineup (with 2 of the original members) is one of the most versatile and powerful lineups for this band ever. And this recording is in many ways the best ever, technically and musically. Anyone who is interested in the TISQ, or string music of any kind, should buy this CD immediately!

Amazon.com essential recording
The madrigals in this book, aptly titled by Monteverdi "Madrigals of War and Love," range from solo voice or duo with continuo to works for eight singers and strings. Concerto Italiano gives a magnificent performance: the opening of "Hor che'l ciel" is daringly slow and still, only to give way suddenly to the narrator's cries of torment; "Ardo, avvampo" proceeds from the thrilling chaos of fire alarms to an extraordinary hush as two tenors end the piece in unison. In the famous "Lamento della ninfa," the musicians have found a way to follow Monteverdi's instructions that the three men should sing in strict tempo ("following the hand"), while the solo soprano nymph sings her lament in freer time, "following the heart." The result is astonishing. --Matthew Westphal

Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Album Description
"Anyone who's open to Milne's fresh outlook will likely find it a revelation." -- All About Jazz
Dapp Theory leader's first solo piano album features interpretations of familiar folk and pop songs by Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Sting, and Bob Marley, plus three originals. Not a pop-jazz crossover in the usual sense, this disc is an exploration of the art of song through the aesthetics of jazz pianism. Milne is a gifted and individual improviser. His deeply considered playing demonstrates a layered, almost orchestral density with a delicate touch. Audiophile recording (stereo/multi-channel) in an intimate hall.
