Bravos belong to beloved baritone Howard Keel.......2005-08-30
Travel back in time to an era when songs were created to enjoy like a rich desert that your mom would make. Howard Keel and his various duet partners have done just this! This CD has a wonderful selection from the great musicals of the 1950's and makes you smile....sigh....and seek to hear them again and again. I would encourage you to add this to your collection as I have. I've even shared it with many of my friends who have come back with the same remarks of great music from one of the great singers of our recent past.

original shred sound.......2007-02-24
If you're a fan of instrumental shred guitar, this is a must-own. Marty Friedman has some serious chops and songwriting talent--an uncommon combination in this genre, I've found. He easily competes with guys such as Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Greg Howe, MacAlpine, Satriani, Vai, Tafolla, and Eric Johnson. Deen Castronovo complements nicely on drums--by that I mean that it takes a drummer of Deen's caliber to match Marty's virtuosic intensity, and vice versa.
One from perhaps the most underrated axe-wielder of our era.......2007-01-09
Jason Becker was incredible and would have even been better, and even he admits that he would have gotten nowhere without the tutelage of his sagacious mentor, Marty Friedman. MF and JB offer a lot to guitar players, and their diverse styles combined with unparalleled technical abilities puts these guys, and guys like Yngwie, Chris Arvan, Bruce Boulliet, and Paul Gilbert on another plane. Heck, even Greg Howe.
Degrading comparisons to Satch, Vai, and other guitarists is unfair. Satch and Vai aren't even the best guitarists on their G3 tour (especially after playing with Yngwie Malmsteen).
One thing is clear. When Marty Friedman joined Megadeth he boosted that band's technical guitar prowess up from an 8 to a 10+. Not many guitarists can boast that ability.
Good show.......2006-11-22
I bought this album together with Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn. After listening to both albums many many times, I can say that I like both albums equally. Dragons Kiss seems to have more consistently good songs and fresh musical ideas. Friedman is very good at building up musical tension in his solo's and he uses unique bends that are a trademark of his style. Perpetual burn is also a great album also but is great in its own way. I would recommend buying both of these albums just because they compliment each other. I would rate the combination of Dragon's Kiss and Perpetual Burn 5 stars, where individually I would rate them at 4 stars a peice.
Shredding shredder shreds. And shreds. And shreds........2006-06-24
I always associated this album with Jason Beckers Perpetual Burn since they were both associated with each other via their Cacophany project. But this is the better release.
Friedman always had more groove than early Becker, but he ain't Satriani though he does produce clean runs and fiery guitar shredding aplenty.
It was a smart move to put two of the best tracks here - Saturation Point and Dragon Mistress - at the start. The latter starts with a tasty riff and both utterly showcase the mans great guitar abilities. Try to listen to these two tunes and that will either sell you on getting this disc or let you know that instrument shred albums ain't for you!
However the rest of the album doesn't reach this high standard but at least they aren't hugely long, thereby overstaying their welcome. Jason Becker guests on the tracks Saturation Point and Jewel and the guys really do complement each other. Marty plays everything on this album but drums - Deen Castronovo does that - and he also produces which must of been a challenge to take on so much responsibility.
A shred album first and foremost with more feel than a number of other such albums out there. But it's broader appeal is perhaps less certain. After all his best work seems to have been done with Megadeth, where his class really did shine.
One for the collection.......2005-12-04
I just received this cd today, and I am very impressed with it. I got this cd after I heard Marty Friedman play the guitar solos with the Christian speed metal group, Tourniquet. I was impressed by his style of playing, and decided to get a few of his instrumental cds. This cd will no doubt be spinning in my headphones for some time to come. I give this cd a 4 1/2 stars, but they don't have the half option. Only because there were a few places in his songs that wasn't very catchy. But this is not one of those cds that you just skip over songs. So that outweighs the stuff I don't like. This cd is definitely worth getting getting.

Customer Reviews:
I discovered Sibelius with this CD.......2001-03-18
I'm a big fan of Mattila and of art song. But Sibelius was mostly unfamiliar to me (except for some of his symphonies) until this disc. I especially liked the final cut, Jubal. The accompaniment here is minimalist with Mahlerian touches. Mattila sings exquisitely throughout. If you like songs by Brahms, Mahler, or Strauss, expand your knowledge horizon with this CD.
Beautiful Voice - Beautiful Music.......2000-11-17
I especially liked the songs "Var det en dröm?" and "Norden", but all of these songs are beautifully sung throughout. Karita Mattila has the perfect voice for these songs. Her voice is soft, yet strong, and the cool color is used well especially in "Norden". It is also clear that she understands every word she is singing.
This record is also a great introduction to Sibelius songs, for those who are not already familiar with them. There are also wonderful recordings of Sibelius songs by Jorma Hynninen, Tom Krause and Anne-Sofie von Otter, that I highly recommend.

Album Description
Import only scored soundtrack to this 2001 martial arts film starring Jet Li & Brigette Fonda. The soundtrack was scored by Craig Armstrong who's provided string arrangements for Massive Attack, Madonna, Blue Nile, U2 and scored soundtracks to, 'Best Laid Plans', 'Mission Impossible', 'Romeo & Juliet' and more. The domestic version is songs 'inspired by' the film and does not include any of these scored pieces. EMI.
Customer Reviews:
I'd actually give this 10 stars if I could..........2006-03-09
Probably some of Craig Armstrong's finest work. Some tracks weren't used in the original film, and were replaced with some hip hop tunes which I find was a huge mistake, as the score stands on it's own two legs. Tracks 5, 10, and 19 feature some of the greatest action music I've ever heard. Track 10 is very fast paced, while 19 is more slow and methodical, but equally intense. All of the other tracks are slow and beautiful, similar to Romeo and Juliet. All in all, a very good score, and much better than the domestic release, which features the music from the movie, and is rather disappointing. Any fan of Craig Armstrong, or soundtracks in general, would be silly to pass this one up, especially at the low price. I wish scores like this were released more often. Maybe that's what makes this one so good...

Customer Reviews:
Not Armstrong's best........2004-02-17
When compared to the modern masterpieces that are the 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Plunkett and MacLeane', Craig Armstrong's KOD score is obviously an experiment in underscoring. Of course it work well in the film, adding nervous tension and credibility to the numerous action-packed scenes. But on its own it doesn't stand too well.
One of the main reasons is that instead of labelling the tracks with proper titles referring to scenes in the movie, all (apart from one) are called 'A Symphony for Isabelle' (the name of the daughter held hostage in the movie). Unless you're word perfect with the movie you'll struggle to recognize what cue is which.
Perhaps this was an intention move by Armstrong to let the music stand on it's own. But without the violent images and action onscreen the music has no legs. Tho not a failure in any way (it works fantastically when married to the movie) it doesn't really work as a soundtrack album.
The CD package is in typically minimalist form as any fan of Armstrong should expect. Tho it is very rare and worth seeking out if you are a fan.
Lastly, at the point where the mad 'Mystikal Fever' kicks in during the movie, Armstrong actually wrote an alternate musical cue which is featured on this CD.
brilliant.......2002-08-21
I had never heard of Craig Armstrong, before I bought the soundtrack of "Six feet under" I fell in love with the piece Craig wrote for this soundtrack. A music piece that I knew from The Blue nile, but in the combination of Craig and Paul Buchanan it is unbelievable brilliant.
It all started then and I searched for more works of Mr. Armstrong.
In the mean time I collected most of his works and beside "Plunkett & Maclean" this is one of his best pieces I have heard so far.
Symphony for Isabelle is beautiful, with some beautiful slow movements but I love the fast tracks much more.
The combination of his violins, synthesizers and rythm is so good performed and composed, that every time I hear this music I`m trilled.
Listen to part 8 and 19 and you know what I mean.
My God this Craig Armstrong is good. A new composer is added to my list.
An incredible score by a legendary composer........2002-08-13
The Kiss of the Dragon Score is an incredible score by a legendary composer.
This score compliments the ideas, scenes, and screenplay presented in the "Kiss of the Dragon" movie with precision. It's one of those scores that truly keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.
Craig Armstrong has composed a more 'ambient' style of music which facilitates Jet Li's calm nature of fighting, yet particularizes the suspense and dramatic progression of notes, tones, and symphonic 'punch.'
Track 1; 'As if you said Nothing' is a piece with lyrics.
Tracks 2-20; 'Symphony for Isabell' (Parts 01-19).
These Parts form the actual motion picture score with 'Symphony for Isabell Parts 1-5' being most prominant and most heard in the original motion picture.
I would recommend seeing the DVD first, then purchasing this score. This score is custom-tailored to the movie, and in the 'Hotel chase/pool ball kick scene,' the music/action choreography is incredibly stylistic.
If you are a listener who craves serious/suspenseful tracks, I strongly recommend this CD.
I was a little bit leary about purchasing it, knowing that it is an import and not being able to see the picture, but the CD itself is well put-together.
The actual CD disc is completely matt-black, with clean white & red text on the lower portion.
The front of the CD case shows the Prostitute's back (from the hotel scene) with the red dragon tatoo.
The rear of the CD case shows a Black & White drawing of the KOD (Kiss Of the Dragon) symbol, the dragon.
The included sheet inside the case opens up to reveal a larger drawing of the dragon.
This French import is put together very well, and I totally recommend it.
kiss of the dragon.......2002-04-10
does anybody know the music that's played in the very end of the movie, when the credits are rollin?
One of the Best Music Score Ive heard........2001-09-06
I got the Import from HK.
This soundtrack has a feel of a Modern Day Enter The Dragon.
I love the stick fight soundtrack,it was the coolest action score ever recorded for Modern Day Fight scenes.
This soundtrack puts Enter the Dragon and Crouching Tiger feel to the movie and made this film a great Atmaspere.
Get this soundtrack, and you wont be dissapointed.
The Us soundtrack only have three good songs.
