OLD SCHOOL THRASCORE !!!!!.......2004-05-11
These guys are the best at what they do and are brazilian !!!!
This is incredible metal from beginning to end.Soundýs a little thin but can be made to play OK. The drumming is punishingly powerful,and the guitar work is guaranteed to floor you at high volume.Gordoýs voice has the exact level in
the mix so as to be clearly understood but not annoyi or interfere with the music.I can tell you with pride,these guys are as good as SLAYER at what they play.I Love these dudes !!!!!!!!.Donýt expect virtuos solos or anything,this is downright brutality not without some twisted musicality to it.Lyrics deal with social issues,not satan or nihilism,which gives this double value in my opinion.Latins are big at this kinda music,BRUJERIA-SEPULTURA,etc.........

BRAZILIAN THRASHCORE ??!!! YES INDEED !!!!.......2006-12-12
First 17 songs of this twofer release are the Brasil album. The band embraces an almost 100% technical thrash metal style, except for some drumming patterns and a gorgeously distorted bass guitar, elements they had already incorporated on Dirty And Agressive, their previous effort. Brasil is a reference albums for headbangers and is the one which catapulted the band to international fame, opening the doors of the european market and multinational record labels. Loud, fast but measured tempos, abrasive but catchy guitar riffs; The musicians finally getting to grips with their instruments. Unlike 100% thrash bands like Metallica, whose music and lyrics are solemn and nihilistic,RDP transpire thrascore aggro and their lyrics (sung in portuguese on this particular version of the album as opposed to separate cds available with vocals in english) deal with socio-political issues, especially those of their country, not lacking certain universality to their principles, withoutt loosing sight of fun. The sound and mix are superb !!
Anarkophobia is their next effort in the same vein, only the sound is not that good. This album + Just Another Crime In Massacreland conform a gorgeous unholy trinity every headbanger interested in non-brit, non-american thrash should own.

Two great RDP albums.......2001-11-19
If you are looking for a CD from Ratos de Porao, look no more. This one ones contains two albums, Brasil and Anarkophobia, and shows a very good crossover between hardcore punk and speed metal. Songs like "Beber até morrer" (drink until death) and "Anarkophobia" are included.
All the musics are sung (shouted?) in portuguese, but it doesn't matter much - even if you are a portuguese speaker you wouldn't understand Joao Gordo's growls!
