Classic power metal at its best.......2003-02-12
Do you like Testament? How about Exodus? And Savatage? If you answered yes, then you will love Darklin Reach. This is not some new johnny come lately 80's metal revival band. "Where Evil Dwells" was recorded in the early 90's and was originally released by the English label Tombstone. Raging tunes such as "Slow motion suicide" and "Psychophant" will make you want to start growing that mullet back. You will be blown away by the guitar mastery of Mr. Al Pangelinan and the savage drumming of John Osborne, who also played drums for Dr. Butcher, a side project of Savatage. Darklin Reach is definately one band that never received the recognition that they deserved. Amen!

Still,after all these years..........2002-07-13
I first heard this band back in the 80's, having grown up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a mere 20 miles from their Waukeegan, Illinois home. I thought then, and still do, that they were a very technically sound band with a early Metallica edge to them. The drummer, John Osbourne, Is a very talented musician who would later go on to be included on the Doctor Butcher recording with former Savatage members Jon Olivia(vocals) and Chris Caffrey(guitars). Savatage was very influential in this release, having produced it. Early Savatage influences can also be heard In Darklin Reach's music. Although the production quality lacks a little, It is very similar to the bands live sound, and in a odd way, may even add to the recording. I would highly recommend the purchase of this material to any true metal fan , especially those who enjoy the early works of bands such as Metallica, Savatage, Slayer, etc,...
Technical Metal at its finest!.......2000-09-08
I found this disk in a second-hand cd store, and after listening to it on the store cd player I rushed to buy it. The cost was 99cents. I have grown to love this cd. If you like progressive and/or technical metal like Savatage or Dreamtheater then you will like this. The music quality is just as good. Very technical, very fast, lots of tempo changes and differing time signatures. Very much like some of the early Metallica, but much more emphasis on composition. The quality of the mixing and tracking is not the best for obvious reasons, but I think that adds to the mystery of the music. You've never heard of them and except for here you probably never will again. Trust me! Buy this album now. It's well worth the money.
