Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

5 Stars! Yeah, you heard me! :).......2006-02-13
I love this album. On 'Out for blood' Lita proves that she can rock with the best of them. Actually out rock them is more like it. Anyway this album and 'Dancin' on the edge' are my two favorite Lita albums. If you like awesome lead guitar buy it. And the singing is great too.
"A GREAT SOLO DEBUT".......2004-06-02
The first track, "Out For Blood", is the best on the album! It's pure-raw power! As a whole, the album is a listening experience that perfectly denotes the sound of the 80's. I have it on Tape and later got it on CD. It must be out of print now and that probably explains the prices. It's worth the money. Consider it a part of Metal history. Many people only know her from her latter releases but her first solo is definitely the hardest and most memorable. It's a shame that the "Best of" releases don't completely cover her entire catalog and to me, they don't do her justice!
Lita's first album.......2004-01-11
I have this on a record and it has a different cover with a guitar split apart. Great album. Give her credit for trying a first record. My favorite song is Out For Blood and great video if you get the chance to watch it too!
Heavy metal from the scrap heap, but Lita's still got spunk.......2003-01-19
Lost during the years 1979 and 1983 after the Runaways broke up, Lita Ford finally got a 2nd chance at stardom(on the heels of Joan Jett's sudden success)and recorded this hard rock album with bassist/producer Neil Merryweather and drummer Dusty Watson(who turns in a fabulous performance). No hits here, just lots of chunky, raw guitar and minimal production. "Just a Feeling", despite inane lyrics, is one of Lita's catchiest ballads, and "Die For Me Only" has some rip-roaring drums by Watson a la The Scorpions. Lita later badmouthed this record(and the original cover, which had her ripping a guitar apart in a black leather teddy)and indeed it's muddy, scrappy, unfocused and uneven. Still, a few songs like "Rock-n-Roll Made Me What I Am Today" can really kick, and Lita as always displays sass and flash.
A Runaway No More.......2002-03-14
As a member of The Runaways, Lita wanted to play heavy metal. "Out For Blood" is Lita's first solo effort, which provides heavy metal/hard rock songs that rock 110%, such as the title track and "On The Run". One of my favorite tracks is the ballad "Just A Feeling". Also especially noteworthy is "Rock 'N Roll Made Me What I Am Today", which is a story of Lita's teenage years in The Runaways. This album displays Lita's guitar goddess talents splendidly, I love it!

Not Bad For A Comeback (3.5 Stars).......2007-06-04
After a 8 year hiatus since they released their phenomenal "Elements of Anger" in 1997, Sadus comes back with "Out For Blood", and this CD got a rather mix of reviews. The average review percent on the Encyclopedia Metallum was a 48%. After listening to this after being addicted to the band's previous works, I must say that this album is somewhat of a disappointment, but at the same time, has its share of stand out moments as well. First off, "Out For Blood" incorporates quite a bit of groove into the mix (i.e. "Smackdown", "Lost It All"), but it does deliver riffs that will please the 80's thrash fan ("Out For Blood"). However, if there is anything that delivers the most on this album, it's Steve Digorgio and his infamous bass skills. You can hear him play on every track, and he retains his technical abilities. Another oddity you might found on this CD that you probably wouldn't expect on a thrash disc is a synthesizer. That's right, a synthesizer. "No More" and "Lost It All" incorporate it best, at least to my ears. Finally, the lyrical content...is rather lame...but hey, the music makes up for it, right?
The CD has a way different sound from its predecessors, and it may disappoint the Sadus fan with its changes, but then again, if you want a modern thrash CD with some excellent bass work in it, "Out For Blood" is for you. If you prefer earlier thrash, however, check out "A Vision of Misery" and "Swallowed in Black" instead.
thrash is back!.......2007-05-18
Sadus features the workaholic Steve DiGeorgio, who also worked for Death and Iced Earth. this is old-school thrash at its best. thrash has not died, and Sadus is the key to bring it back! what new surprises come out for 2007 for the thrash metal genre? find out for yourself. on this album, all the tracks are worthy of a standing ovation, and if The Rock were still in WWE, the track "Smackdown" would be a good entrance theme for him. other bands to consider if you enjoyed this album are Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Slayer, Demiricous, Testament, Overkill, Megadeth, Exodus, Flotsam & Jetsam, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, and other great present-day thrash bands. Rock on!
Thrash with a twist.......2006-05-28
After listening to just a few tracks of Sadus' new album, the listener should be able to tell that this is no ordinary thrash record. Sure, it's still mighty fast, heavy, ferocious, and ripping, but it also has several differentiating elements. These elements should help Sadus stand apart from the legions of other thrash bands making appearances in 2006 (i.e. Sodom, Demiricous, etc.) For one, frontman Darren Travis' vocals on "Out For Blood," Sadus' seventh album, are abnormally high pitched (sounding like a match between Death and Exodus), and are thus a bit annoying at first (but only at first!). Next, most of these songs have audible bass parts. Steve DiGiorgio lays down some beeping, slapped bass notes which wouldn't sound completely out of place on a Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, or Mudvayne album. Thirdly, the songs on this album are quite a bit longer than, say, a Slayer song (these songs average over five minutes in length). And, lastly (and most importantly), "Out For Blood" is generally slower, more melodic, and catchier than most thrash releases. It offsets fast, bruising numbers with mid-tempo chuggers. For instance, the album opener, "In The Name Of..." is bolstered by a throbbing bass, a blisteringly fast guitar lead, and quick, pounding drums. But the next two songs, "No More" and "Smackdown," have slowly pounding rhythms (plus track two features some strange but efficient computer/robotic sound effects). Later on, "Down" and "Freedom" both fall into a catchy, if sluggish groove, and "Cursed" features an ambient intro and outro. But these slower songs are interspersed with scorching riff onslaughts. The title track, "Sick," and "Freak" all prove Sadus can still shred your speakers, as these songs are blindingly fast and have breakneck rhythms with barrages of brutal, fiery guitars. So, whether attacking the jugular or pulling back on the reigns, Sadus prove they can rock efficiently, and are (or should be) one of thrash/speed metal's most famous and recognizable bands.

There is no special reason to buy this soundtrack. I only bought it for sentimentality reasons. I would say that the opening and closing songs are the best on this CD. The rest just seams like your average "old" anime tunes that help set the mood in the movie. If you have seen "Macross II" and liked the music, than go ahead and buy this CD if you wish. Otherwise I don't think it's anything you should randomly buy and than hope that you will like it.
The best of Macross II.......2001-10-05
Well, I have to say that this is an excellent CD, if you are a Macross Fan is "a must".
An explanation must be given this CD contains the very first soundtrack, as it appears in the OVA's. So if you expect to find songs like "Promise (Yakusoko)" or others sung by Ishtar you should buy the Volume II.
Here we have songs sang by Wendy and the opening and closing songs. Also Minmei attack song.
Buy it, you won't regret it...

Product Description
Stylish artwork features throughout on this split between Out For Blood and Organ which starts with Punishable by death sounding not unlike Gutworm. A similar big sound, very metallic grooves and depth filled, tremolo picked thrashings and a crisp sound, vocals are a little raspy and there is a touch more sludge to the sound. The bass leads well into Corporate cockmaster seamlessly as the slow pace continues in a pretty evil vein.
Literally Out For Blood split the hardcore and sludge influences and style 50/50 here, as they pick songs up in pace the same way any of the Gang Style Records bands would but with the Rise Above roster venom or maybe Charger and Iron Monkey.
Organ prove this to be a well matched split release with more monstrous sounding guitars, punishing grooves and Anselmo style vocals. I think the overall intensity and heaviness is increased on their half. Certainly anyone into Far Beyond Driven as their favourite Pantera release should be into this, and also Lamb of God fans would enjoy their opener The ultimate front. Exploited freedom is a bit more of a straight forward heavy hardcore track with a massive groove break and triplet guitar moment half way through before the rattling bass introduces the slower, more eerie Awakening nicely, that certainly reminds of Lamb of God again and Burn The Priest when it gets going.
This is a very strong split of well produced metallic hardcore.

Album Description
After 7 years of silence, Sadus returns to the front of the battlefield with this long-awaited album appropriatly titled Out For Blood. Musically Sadus have developed into a vicious metal machine with incredible playing. Out For Blood is somewhat going back to their roots, so expect some aggressive thrash metal with neck breaking speed yet very much up-to-date tracks. Filled with the roaring vocals and guitars of Darren Travis, the incredible bass playing of Steve Di Giorgio and killer drumming by Jon Allen, the album was produced by Borge Finstad (Mayhem, Borknagar, Solefald, Exol, Antestor) at Trident Studios. The result is 11 tracks of metal mania. Mascot. 2006.
Customer Reviews:
Sadus makes their comeback.......2006-05-26
Classic thrash, a genre that was started back in the eighties by big names like Slayer, Metallica and Anthrax. Sadus has always been a bit of an underdog though, they got big through tapetrading back in the day and this exposure eventually got them signed to Roadrunner. They released a few killer albums which are unfortunately totally out of print nowadays. Their most recent real album was way back in 1997. After that they disappeared.
Now, Sadus is back with 'Out For Blood'. The old school thrash sound remains intact and a few new experimental elements have been added to the music in the form of samples mixed with the guitarplay giving some of the songs a little extra edge. This also makes the record sound a bit more modern as a whole. Sadus has legendary bassist Steve Digiorgio in it's ranks, Digiorgio has played with very big bands like Death and Iced Earth in the past and is also the bassist for Testament. His influence on the music is a big one and that can be heard throughout the album. 'Out For Blood' opens with a track that has some razorsharp riffing, instantly making you know that Sadus is coming back strong. The vocals are still the same as they've always been, a bit raspy at times but they blend in nicely with the music. The speed of the album overall, speed you would expect from thrash, is a bit lacking however, it's not that fast this time around.
There are a few weaker tracks like 'Smackdown' which I didn't like a lot, but other very good songs, like 'Cursed', complete with an Arabian tinged intro sound make up for that. The best song on the album comes last though, a brutal song with a catchy chorus that includes guest vocals from Testament's Chuck Billy. Overall this is a good comeback album for Sadus, it's not a masterpiece, but it's very enjoyable. 'Out For Blood' is a decent old school thrash release for 2006.
Sadus=Awesome.......2006-05-17
I'm a huge Sadus fan, and the new cd does not dissappoint, but where can I get the limited 2 disc version???
The 3-piece Thrash/Death group is a well oiled metal machine! Best metal album '06 so far........2006-03-29
For a band that made albums in 1988, 1990, 1992, then 1998 and now 2006, a fan of Sadus has to wait a long time for the next Sadus installment. But let me tell you, these boys don't disappoint! At all costs (I had to buy the album thrice just to get one copy of it), you must get this album!
"Out for Blood" has all the now signature Sadus trademarks, Steve DiGiorgio's insane fretless/fretted bass playing, his ambient synths that he throws in, Darren Travis' shriek and eerie guitars, and Jon Allen's pounding drumming. But this album delivers other things too that were either toned down in earlier albums or just simply weren't present at all. The progressive element in the Thrash/Death metal song writing is always heavily present, but whereas 1998's equally progressive "Elements of Anger" was sluggish at times, O4B has plenty of speed and rage like their first three albums (Illusions, Swallowed in Black, Vision of Misery). I think the Sadus boys have now found the exact point where heavy and fast music can also be loud and progressive at the same time.
Not one bad song on the CD. Most numbers are Mid-tempo, there are some faster ones, and there are some slow ones. Sometimes they do all three in the same song. The song writing is really proficient and there aren't any riffs that aren't needed or just thrown in for flash at the last moment. The production is the best of any Sadus album, and almost equally balances out Steve's thunderous bass, drums, guitars, and vocals.
Best metal album I've heard in 2006 so far. Want progressive, heavy, angry, and every so often fast enough to blow you away? Then this album is for you. If you can get the "Limited Edition" 2-CD version of the O4B album because it has three extra tracks: 1) Black March; 2) An interesting cover of Iron Maiden's "Invaders"; 3) A cover of Dark Angel's "Merciless Death".
