More top quality melodic hard rock.......2006-03-22
Westworld is a melodic hard rock project featuring TNT vocalist Tony Harnell, Riot guitarist Mark Reale, and Danger Danger bassist Bruno Ravel. Given the players involved, you can pretty much guess the kind of music Westworld has to offer.
Much like the band's debut, Skin is first-class melodic hard rock album. Tony Harnell's very distinctive voice dominates the album, which is a good thing since he continues to improve with each album. Skin edges a bit more towards metal than its predecessor, but remains a very melodic album. The album's surprise is the inclusion of a cover version of the Alanis Morissette hit Uninvited, which oddly enough seems perfect for Tony Harnell's vocal style.
TNT, Riot, and Danger Danger fans should eat this one up. It's one of the best modern AOR/melodic hard rock albums out there. Westworld's self-titled album and Cyberdreams are just as good, as is Tony Harnell's latest project Starbreaker.
Westworld rocks.......2001-10-16
Westworld is a great band for anyone who likes true rock and roll. Singer Tony Harnel still has a voice of an angel as they cover Alanis Morissette's hit "Uninvited" and Mark Wood's Talent with the Electric violin is amazing. Other great songs are Ice Queen, Uneasy, and BlackShadow Symphony! With band members from TNT, RIOT, Danger Danger, and Rainbow you know this band has a lot to offer.

Excellent Team Project In 1998.......2007-04-27
Westworld is an excellent rock project led by TNT vocalist Tony Harnell and Riot guitarist Mark Reale. They produced three albums from 1998 to 2003.
1998 Westworld
2001 Skin
2003 Cyberdreams
And Tony Harnell made an heir project Starbreaker in 2005.
Usually supergroup project might turn up to be a bit of letdown but this one is exceptional.
ILLUSIONS: Opening is just like classic TNT sound but the fast-paced heavy guitar riff drives us to the westworld world.
I BELONG: Timely heavyset uptempo rocker somewhat similar to METALLICA's ENTER SANDMAN or TESLA's SOLUTION.
PIGEON HOLE: Really classic rock tasted one. Mark Reale's guitar is just great.
HEART SONG: First ballad track reminding me of Led Zeppelin's STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN. Really a touching song.
LITTLE VOICES: Tony Harnell's soft/faint and hard/strong voice change is just brilliant.
BRING THE WATER TO ME: Also acoustic opening reminding me of Led Zeppelin. But the dramatic turn in mid stage is a nice one.
LOVE YOU INSANE: Somewhat like Winger tracks. Taste of early 90s.
SHAME:Another of Tony's voice brilliantly being shown.
IVORY TOWERS: Showing Meale's excellent guitars.
SUICIDE: Acoustic ballad somewhat remnicent of that of Firehosue.
Verdict: An Exceptional Superband project
Rating: 94 out of 100
Recommended for: TNT and Riot fans also early 90s rock fans who love Firehouse, Winger, Giant, Danger Danger.
First-Class Melodic Rock.......2006-03-04
How a death and nu-metal factory like Roadrunner ever released this gem, I have no idea. Perhaps they thought it was the punk band with the same name? At any rate, Westworld is a melodic hard rock project featuring TNT vocalist Tony Harnell, Riot guitarist Mark Reale, and Danger Danger bassist Bruno Ravel. Given the players involved, you can pretty much guess the kind of music Westworld has to offer. This is first-class melodic hard rock album. The songs are catchy and have plenty of hooks, but Harnell's vocals really steal the show. His voice is as distinctive as ever, but it's not as high as it was on those early TNT albums. To my ears this is an improvement, as it makes the album that much more listenable.
TNT, Riot, and Danger Danger fans should eat this one up. It's one of the best modern AOR/melodic hard rock albums out there. Westworld's other albums, Skin and Cyberdreams are just as good, as is Tony Harnell's latest project Starbreaker.
Must Have!.......2001-12-05
I don't think I can do this CD justice with a review. Its been the best CD I've purchased in 3 years. Its amazing!
While I wait for the next RIOT release...........2001-05-11
Being a RIOT fan since 1983 I bought this ablum just because Mark Reale was involved in it. Found out about the album at the RIOT website. Having read the reviews I wasn't expecting it to be RIOTish and so wasn't disappointed. Very 80s , very melodious. Now I need to get Skins. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to seeing Westworld perform live at Poughkeepsie NY.

Awesome Final Album.......2006-07-10
Westworld is a melodic hard rock project featuring TNT vocalist Tony Harnell, Riot guitarist Mark Reale, and Danger Danger bassist Bruno Ravel. Given the players involved, you can pretty much guess the kind of music Westworld has to offer.
Cyberdreams is the band's final album, and like Westworld's first two discs is first-class melodic hard rock album. Tony Harnell's very distinctive voice dominates the album, which is a good thing since he continues to improve with each album. Cyberdreams is a bit less metal-oriented than its predecessor, and is of course a very melodic album. There isn't a weak moment on the album, which closes in style with a powerful rendition of Black Sabbath's Neon Knights. I love it when bands pay tribute to Dio-era Sabbath, so this track alone makes Cyberdreams my favorite Westworld album.
TNT, Riot, and Danger Danger fans should eat this one up. It's one of the best modern AOR/melodic hard rock albums out there. Westworld's self-titled album and Skin are just as good, as is Tony Harnell's latest project Starbreaker.

Customer Reviews:
When reviewing - know your facts!.......2006-01-19
A great album with many memories. Kirk's powerful voice and emotion stand out even against today's wannabees. Naive in places?..maybe - perhaps you just had to be there. A good buy for anyone wanting to cherish their original vinyl copy. For the more casual collector wishing to add the spirit of early 80s punk to their colelction more comprehensive TOH 'collection' albums exist, although this CD does contain additional tracks over the vinyl
One thing I must comment on is a previous review stating that TOH are basically a Southern Death Cult rip-off! Pretty amusing when you consider that TOH's initial output predates SDC's and that an original member of TOH left to join SDC :0) Who sounds like who?...er!
Decent.......2005-03-08
I was beyond disappointed when I first popped this in. I had always read such great things about this record, and was expecting some sort of violent Joy Division/Bauhaus/Christian Death hybrid. Instead, what I got was a second rate Southern Death Cult knock-off. I cannot stress enough how similar this record is to the output of the Southern Death Cult, but with significantly less imagination, an irritating saxophone, and even more irritating vocalist. While vocals are always secondary to me, and lyrics of absolutely no importance, Kirk Brandon is so off-key while attempting to hit the higher notes that it actually made me flinch. There are, however, flashes of brilliance, such as in "Do You Believe in the Westworld?," "The New Trail of Tears," and most of the bonus tracks. However, the song "Freaks" is so terrible it is downright laughable, John Lennard playing the "circus them," if you will, on his damnable saxophone. In short, Theatre of Hate attempt to be quirky and imaginative, but fall far short of that goal. Buy the Southern Death Cult collection instead.
Solid post-punk sound from a controversial group.......1998-11-25
Very interesting listening and not only for the Gothic die-hards (although for me they are only post-punk). Some pieces seem pompuous and even naive, but the whole picture is very original . Apart from its (now irrelevant) political overtones, this record still is a good choice and, of course, a must-have for all fans of the period.

Rocks U Now and Later.......2006-01-22
I bought this back when it originally came out. It rocked then as much as it does today. Kinda Joan Jett-ish but a little softer. If you want something to test the bass in your audio system, try Painkiller. It'll really BOOM! There isn't a single song I would call crap. They're all equally great in thier own special way.
