Customer Reviews:
Never actually heard this album, but............2006-08-11
Hey! I gotta say that David L. Smith is way out of line, below, with his comment, "By the way, am I the only who thinks that Eva O might actually be a drag queen? etc. etc."
Eva recorded a song at my studio in the mid-90s, and has always been a really great person. It was wonderful to see her perform before 2000 loving fans at the WGT in Leipzig in 2005. Needless to say, she is most certainly a woman (why does having to write this make me feel like I am part of a Monty Python skit?)

Rozz Williams is Christian Death........2005-07-27
I have to write this review especially after the false statements that i just read in these reviews. I myself bought this particular album entitled "PATH OF SORROWS" when it was first released in 1993 on Cleopatra records. I had also, been one of the lucky ones to have met and spoken to Rozz Williams a couple of times and on a couple of different occasions. This album in particular to me is Christian Death at it's best. This is an extremley dark sounding album filled with lyrics that captivate the listener and if you listen and really pay attention it will leave you absolutly breathless and unable to rationally explain the feeling.Rozz Williams founded Christian Death not Valor Kand. Rozz had a true art intent, which is to say that he was an artist. Rozz's lyrics and music really teased a persons emoitions as well as their brain, he had a really great and natural knack to word twist so in order to fully understand the man and his music one must really pay close attention.Rozz williams released this album in particular as well as another album to follow it called "THE RAGE OF ANGELS" Both of these albums were done by Rozz inorder to combat Valor Kand who was a guitar player who joined Christian Death years after Rozz Williams had founded the band. Sadly, after Rozz passed away on April 1, 1998 Valor Kand somehow ended up with the rights to all of Rozz's work under the name Christian Death. So, in conclusion of this review, I would personally recommend this album "PATH OF SORROWS" for a couple of good reasons. First of all the original founder of the band wrote it, not a second rate fake or rip off artist. Secondly, this album still has the original gothic style of sound that the band Christian Death had always been known for and thirdly, I have seen Valor Kand and his so called Christian Death part #2 band perform and i have to say that not only did the show suck but, the man has a big mouth and a pompus attitude and he managed to make the entire audience angry.I will never support this man but, i will listen to the real and true Christian Death band with Rozz Williams in the band and i will reflect fondly back on all the great music that he put out.
bad fake Christian Death.......2004-11-23
It has always bothered me that, after leaving Christian Death in the mid-80s -- after the Ashes album -- that Rozz Williams in the mid-90s decided that -- along with Paris and Eva O -- he was the REAL Christian Death. Catastrophe Ballet and Ashes are amazing albums, but anything Rozz has done under the name Christian Death since then has been second rate at best. The problem is with the whole Rozz vs. Valor debate in the goth community. Although it is true that Valor hasn't had a good album since Atrocities (or perhaps Scriptures), it does not mean that Rozz represents the quality (or "real") Christian Death. Path of Sorrows, Skeleton Kiss, and Rage of Angels are among the worst albums of the goth rock genre. These three are worse than the worst of Valor -- Amen, Sexy Death God, All the Hate, Pornographic Messiah, Born Again Antichristian. Venus in Furs has my vote for the worst cover song of all time (in the entire universe): The sqeak toy sound gives this one that extra special sucko quality. By the way, am I the only who thinks that Eva O might actually be a drag queen? Until I see evidence to the contrary, I will assume that Eva O is a man with a masculine and horse voice.
my favorite album, ever.......2004-01-23
I purchased this back in '93 when it was first released. It was my first exposure to Rozz and I instantly became obsessed with the man. The opening monologue just blew me away...so blasphemous and depressing, yet gentle and soothing. The whole album continues in this manner, wallowing in the depths of despair while maintaining a warmth and honesty that is very rare indeed. Rozz's esoteric and seductive vocals dominate this album from start to finish. The music sets a desolate atmosphere wherein his tales of terror and sadness transpire. His often ambiguous and absurd lyrics seem paradoxically wise and consoling. Despite its decidedly anti-Christian sentiments, it sounds very heavenly. I've been listening to it for over ten years now and it never gets old. But then again, perhaps I'm simply a freak.
A Christian Death Classic.......2002-12-23
There hasn't been a work of Rozz William's I haven't loved and this is no exception. Words can't describe the beauty of this album. Rozz William's is such a brilliant artist I wish I could say more but words can't describe his greatness. Some of my favorite songs are Maggots Lair,The Path Of Sorrows,In Absentia,Mother.. heh.. I love the whole album it is remarkable I love each song dearly.
