WARNING: DO NOT BUY UNTIL U HEAR THE PREVIEW..........2006-10-22
I've heard quit a few tributes to IM, but this one really blows. The music just has no dynamics, and sometimes even sounds out of tune. If u want to waste some money on classic instruments performing IM songs i recommend that you buy THe Piano Tribute, but do not even bother with this one. It is a rather experimental attempt to play already perfected music and doesn't even give you that satisfaction that you might have had if you are a Metallica fan and have listened to Apocalyptica's tribute to them.
The CD IRON MAIDENS SHOULD BE "WITHOUT".......2006-01-27
Being an Iron Maiden fan i thought this would be a good one. But Stupid me i didn't read the warnings from other buyers. This is the worst cd ever. well if you pretend its not iron maiden songs being destroyed, i guess it may be acceptable. A waste of money. i will probably toss it out with the rest of the trash. This is my opinion. DO NOT BUY THIS CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen to the warnings of others PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maiden tributes.......2005-09-25
Anyone looking for a Maiden tribute album that doesn't suck? Haha! Get Worlds Only Female Tribute to Iron Maiden by the Iron Maidens... these chicks can rock!!!
Comparatively Disappointing.......2004-12-19
I am a big fan of almost all "String Quartet Tribute to -" 's, but this one is an exception. The arrangements are rather poor and on some tracks, the instruments are slightly out of tune - which is really distracting. They add a set of bongos / congos into the mix, and it feels really foreign and out of place. As much as I love this genre and Iron Maiden, this tribute really does justice to neither.
LOL.......2004-10-08
When i Heard the sample tracks it just made me feel like turning on some REAL Maiden.

One Of The Best Live LP's Ever.......2005-02-25
Classic Rock Magazine voted this one of the best live LP's ever....it out-ranked the much loved Made In Japan by Deep Purple!!!! Now that's saying something. I guess the real reason why i love this album is that it was recorded at a small venue, the Marquee in London, in December of 83. It has a kind of in your face vibe and the sound quality is amazing. I really have nothing bad to say about this LP..it's mixed very well...very clear. I just missed some songs that i wished were on this...such as Love's an injection or Devil Woman or Tooting Bec Wreck. I wish someone would dust off the tapes and release the entire show...there must be more in the vaults somewhere.
You will not be disapppointed.
hanoi revisited.......2000-10-08
i remember being introduced to hanoi rocks in the late eighties by catching a blurb in rolling stone that axl rose had considered them a major influence and decided to reissue the band's entire back catalog on cd. while this was noteworthy in itself, some of the album titles in the review were attention grabbers: "bangkok shocks, saigon shakes, hanoi rocks" seemed like a bold name for a debut and painted an air of mystery and exotica around the band. i soon had purchased the entire catalog. although i have long outgrown hard rock, hanoi rocks was an important band for me. it was the first group that i listened to that was under the radar, releasing its entire output on indie labels. it opened me up to the idea that radio was a very limited outlet for interesting music and that the best music was that which required a little bit of investigation to find. michael monroe was beautiful and oozed attitude, a drag queen not intimidated of grabbing the reins for a band that had a lot of musical muscle and real swagger. their debut was unaccomplished but had a spiky, out-of-the-gutter punk attitude that kept the whole endeavor afloat. "village girl" and "stop crying" contained amazing slices of music but were bogged by their kindergarten lyrics. the "oriental beat" album was the point where they started to embellish their music with the sort of exotica in which their name implied. "motorvatin", "visitor", "sweet home suburbia", "no law or order", and the title track were gloriously diverse and rocked unlike any other glam band before or since. in fact, despite the image, hanoi was not a glam band at all. however, they did use that music as a lens to filter punk, blues, candy pop, and r&b. as for this live album, it starts off killer and then sort of slumps in the middle before delivering a fantastic finale. the opening four song sequence demonstrates that once locked into a groove the band could entertain with inventiveness and precision. the encore of covers at the end are rather faithful to the originals but are done with a hungry vitality that surprises given the band was at the very end of their career trajectory. they decided to call it quits when their drummer, razzle, died in a car crash with a very drunk vince neil. it was a respectable decision and one i stand behind since the musical direction they were heading into with "two steps from the move" was conventional and stripped the band of all the exotica, diversity, and soul that they displayed on their prior releases. unfortunately, these releases are once again out-of-print and the band's most vital and interesting work is unavailable to dot com and record store browsers.
The Best Live Album Of 80's.......2000-05-26
Hanoi Rocks never sold millions of albums, but they were one of the best live bands back in th 80's. They were raw, wild and most of all they knew how to play their instruments. Maybe Andy McCoy is not Eddie Van Halen, but he really kicked ass with his guitar (one thing that Ed. never did). Unfortunately this is only live album of Hanoi Rocks, but it is the best HR. There is almost every classical Hanoi-tunes and in live athmosphere these songs are even better than in studio albums. If this band would have last, we never have heard band called Guns N' Roses.
the best live album ever !.......2000-01-06
hanoi rocks were at the top of their game when they recorded this. the album is alot more raw than their studio recordings. I would recomend this album for anyone who's a fan of punk or glam rock.these guys were stars its ashame they never got bigger.
Nothing wasted here--100% rock'n'roll!.......1999-10-28
A great, alas mostly forgotten, hard rock/glam band from those distant days of the early 80s. From the raucous, rampant energy of "Motorvatin'" to the sad, heartbroken lament of "Don't Never Leave Me" (re-arranged and recorded on their final album, "Two Steps from the Move"); from the bluesy, nightmarish howls of "Taxi Driver" (no, this is no ode to Travis Bickle) to the terrific covers that end the set: "Lightnin' Bar Blues," "Under My Wheels," "I Feel Alright" (actually it's the Stooges' "1970") and "Train Kept A-Rollin'," this is a terrific CD, and a bargain! When compared to other glam rock/metal bands of the same era (you know--Crue, Ratt, etc) those other guys don't stand a chance. About ten years ago I saw the live video for this, and it's amazing; they cover "Blitzkrieg Bop" too! Rock'n'roll this straight-up is a refreshing shot that burns!

All Those Wasted Years: Live!.......2005-10-21
Hanoi Rocks' powerful songs translated very well to record, but their real strength was in their live show. some of the mix sounds a bit chaotic and it sounds like there may have been some slight technical difficulties with the vocal monitors (?), but all the trashy glam messy essence is captured very well here. the live show is hampered a little bit by some odd song choices (why open with the instrumental "Pipeline"?), and a few glaring ommissions (no "Tooting Bec Wreck?" that song is just begging for a live version!), but this is a fine addition to the mighty Hanoi Rocks catalogue. cheers!
Almost Perfect, but..........2003-11-15
Right: listening to this CD, you get to understand clearly that this band set the foundation for this kind of fun, glam-my, in your face rn'r to make a big come back by the mid 80's, specially for a band like GN'R, who unashameledly stole their thunder... don't get me wrong, I am the biggest GN'R fan ever, but the fact remains that, without Hanoi Rocks, nobody would know who GN'R are... anyway... you might wonder why I only rated this superb record with 4 stars and not 5, if I claim to love the Rocks so much... as good as the CD is, there are a couple of glitches that I have to mention:
- Andy McCoy's guitar is extremely loud, or maybe Nasty's guitar is too low, I don't know, but take your time to listen to the record a few times with headphones on, and listen to songs like "Visitor" (my favorite on this CD, and one of my overall Hanoi's favorites...) or "Taxi Driver", and you'll know what I mean... I don't mind Andy's sound, quite the contrary (no other human being on this earth can play like him), but I can barely hear Nasty play... and once again, the GN'R comparison appears, because the exact same thing occurs with their "Live Era" CD, where Slash is all over the place and Izzy Stradlin's, but specially Gilby Clarke's playing is chocked by the volume of Slash's guitar...
-I am a singer also(for better or worse), and after listening to this record, I am led to believe that Micheal Monroe's monitors at the gig were malfunctioning, or maybe he didn't have any, because at times i get the impression that he couldn't hear himself sing, which is a terrible thing when you're a singer...Beware, i am not saying that he sings bad, I just think that the singing could've been better...
- The song selection: why so many covers? Why cover "Pipeline", an instrumental, when songs like "Village Girl", "Sweet Home Suburbia", "I want you", "Kill City Kills", "Toothing Beck Wreck" and many other classics were left out? Don't get me wrong, all songs included rock, but let's make some conservative numbers: Hanoi Rocks had 4 records released, so that's 40 songs to choose from, and every record has, at least, 4 songs each that ARE classics. 4x4=16. That means that they could have picked 4 songs from each record without any need of covers. That being said, the covers of "Lightning Bar Blues" and "Under my Wheeels" (best cover i have ever heard of this song) are great...
All in all, if you, like me, love the Rocks, Hanoi Rocks, that is, you can't go wrong with this CD... too bad some drunk jerk had had to ruin it all for the whole world...
LIve & Kickin'.......2002-12-27
One of the best live albums ever! Mike Monroe & Andy McCoy are brilliant together. They sound as good if not better than on their studio efforts. A great listen.

Customer Reviews:
A strong three stars, but no more.......2007-05-30
Tramps second 'electric album sees him furthering his cause with continued exploration of rock 'n' roll with uplifting delivery. He's not out to change the world but he is out to peddle honest music that wears it's heart on it's sleeve. Simplistic strumming is the order of the day on this album accompanied by equally simplistic backing arrangements with Tramps at times raspy voice laid over the top. The effect is enjoyable even for those such as myself who hanker after a bit of rawk more often than not. It's perfect for slapping on when you want some background music with verve and if you were a fan of White Lion then Tramps familiar voice will lull you into a concented stupor.
Lyrically Tramp is musing about lifes little struggles and disappointments but also looking back with joy, revelling in life and rock 'n' roll. And that last is an important consideration when discussing this album - it's rock 'n' roll and doesn't want to be anything else. Not hard rock and never metal. In fact it's all the better for it as it provides variety within his cataloge and for his live show (caught him live in Sydney, Australia - the guy was both fun and humble). As an artist he seems happy within himself and while I've only given this three stars, it pushes four for simple enjoyment and is only dragged down somewhat by the lack of truly killer tunes to really stamp this album on the listeners memory banks.
Tramp's second solo album on an independent label.......2003-10-04
Recovering The Wasted Years is former White Lion and Freak of Nature vocalist Mike Tramp's second solo album and third solo release (including the 1999 release Remembering White Lion). It took Mike almost 5 years to release new material after his debut album Capricorn. There were a few reasons for that. One of them was Mike looked for a decent label to sign a contract without success. The current music industry doesn't really show any interest in signing an 80's singer. This caused a big loss of time. Finally, when Mike realised he 'had to' look for other options if he wanted to continue with music, and he inked a deal with German indie label Ulftone releasing his album shortly after. He was planning to title it You Can't Take My Rock'N'Roll initially but changed it to Recovering The Wasted Years. A good decision in my opinion.
Recovering is different from its predecessors in many ways. First of all it is a very European album. Besides Mike Tramp, there are several unknown Danish musicians on it. There's no Vito Bratta, Oliver Steffensen, James Lomenzo, Kenny Korade or Steve Lukather here. And, maybe it's this what the album lacks. It lacks the touch of a professional musician. The compositions in some songs are really weak. I think Tramp would have done better if he put 10 tracks on the CD instead of 12. He did it on his latest album More To Life Than This and it worked. Recovering has 12 songs, but almost half of them suffer from poor songwriting and we hear more songs of the same sort which don't really anything new to offer. I'd rather Tramp combined some of those songs into one 'complete' song if you know what I what.
The first song "Falling Down" is a very introspective track which Tramp must have written on tour. Lyrically it deals with his being away from home and his beloved son. Is it a good song? Yes. Does it sound heartfelt? Yes. Do I like it? Yes. Is it a good album opener? No. The organ present in this song can also be heard in some other tracks throughout the album. The third track "Mr Death" surprised me. I thought it would be a heavy rocker, but on the contrary, it turned out to be a man in his middle ages asking God not to take his life. Not because he was afraid to die, but because he felt he still had a lot to offer to life. I know the title sounds cheesy, but the song does not. "Darkness" is easily my favourite song on the album. It is a very emotional song reflecting Tramp's inner world. When I told Mike that I love it, he replied that it also happens to be his favourite. Songs like "If It Aint Gonna Rock", "All Up To You", "Do It All Over" and "Don't Take My Rock N Roll" don't really have any artistic messages. They are obviously supposed to be fun songs, but honestly I feel it's time Tramp moved on. He really doesn't need to write songs where he complains to the world that he will continue playing rock'n'roll no matter what happens. And come on, no one is trying to take his rock'n'roll from him. I personally don't want to hear any excuses. This is no longer the 80's and Tramp is no longer in his 20's. I expect more songs like "Endless Highway", "Darkness" and "Always Tomorrow" from him depicting his true feelings about life. It is about time Tramp understood his golden days in the sun are over and his fans expect to hear his mature offerings. Just my opinion. Recovering is perhaps the only Tramp album I'm rating 4 stars because the songs, other than Mike's voice, lack a lot--particularly in the guitar solos and compositions. I recommend starting with More To Life Than This or Capricorn because they feature some great guitar players on them.
Mike Tramp has matured.......2003-04-29
Mike Tramp was the lead singer in White Lion, an average band connected to the Hair Metal scene. Mike Tramp on his own is more interesting and he has left most of the past behind him. Just like Joey Tempest from Europe ("The final countdown"), Mike Tramp has matured in a way as he went solo, and the music is not pop metal or even hard rock anymore. "Recovering the wasted years" is a good effort and musically it bare connections to Joey Tempest's "A place to call home" as well as to Tom Cochrane's "Ragged ass road", or in a way even Jimmy Barnes' "Freight train heart". Some of the songs are very good indeed, like the opening "Falling down" and the fast and catchy "Don't take my rock `n' roll".
One of the best CD's I've ever heard.......2003-03-13
I don't think I can do this CD justice with mere words. Mike Tramp put out good CD's in the 80's with his first band White Lion but nothing would prepare me for this. I have more than my fair share of CD's and this is by far one my favorite CD's ever. Tramp's songwriting has always been there but he outdid himself on this one. Every song should be a hit unfortunately he has yet to live down the 80's hair metal stigma. If you like good rock n' roll this one is for you. Very mature songs with a voice that has only gotten better over the years.

WildSide ROCKED, but this release wasn't needed + Here's the band history everyone wants..........2005-12-10
The Wasted Years was another reunion type release that many older MIA hair bands have attempted to unleash on the masses as of late. Although the "label" that put out this CD is only a small garage based CD reseller, the sound quality was above average - not great, but decent sounding for what it is. Most of the songs on this release have been readily available on P2P sites for years. Not sure if we needed this, but it was fun to go back down memory lane for a few moments. C-
In 1988, at the pinnacle of the "Hollywood Hair Metal" craze, WILDSIDE was formed by guitarist Benny Rhynedance and singer Drew Hannah. Both were 1986 Hollywood Hair Metal transplants from the pre-grunge Seattle music scene, which was then dead as a doornail.
In 1988, after slugging it out for 2 years on the L.A. club scene as glam rockers ROGUE, and enduring the Hollywood "Pay To Play" club promoter rip-off, Benny and Drew quit their original Seattle band. The two formed YOUNG GUNNS and recruited 2nd guitar player Brent Woods from the pop-metal strip band ALRISHA, and super glam bassist Marc Simon from ST.VALENTINE.
The guys searched for a permanent drummer and dominated the Sunset Strip and THE WHISKY A GO-GO on Monday Night "No Bozo Jam" nights. After a year and a half of "false starts and flakes," they found ex-NRG and "no non-sense" drummer Jimmy D. from San Bernadino, CA.
With a solid line-up, the band began an all out assault on Hollywood. Sold-out shows followed at The ROXY, WHISKY A GO-GO, GAZZARRI'S, XPOSUER 54, and SPICE ON SUNSET. Front page covers on all the L.A. rock press arose, and record labels began to take notice.
Famed Sunset Strip entertainment attorney Dennis Rider sought out the band after a show at THE WHISKY and offered his brokering services. Rider had successfully negotiated the LOVE/HATE record contract with Columbia a year prior. WILDSIDE retained Rider's services, and he would ultimately pay off in spades and get the band their Capitol Records deal through his label connections.
The guys needed a decent band name. They were known as YOUNG GUNNS from '88 to '90, but the movie company quickly sent out "cease and desist" letters. After another late night Sunset Strip debaucle at the Rainbow Bar, "WILDSIDE" was thrown around by Benny Rhynedance, and it fit their lifestyle to a tee. They had their name. (But so did another local band!! They received a check and went away quietly.)
Through Dennis Rider, Capitol Records came calling in August of 1990, and a bidding war between Capitol and Polygram ensued, with Capitol winning the bid for 7 figures and 5 albums. It was the biggest signing of a Hollywood rock band since WASP back in 1984. Eyebrows were definitely beginning to raise in the industry. This band was destined for success and the buzz on the street was growing.
With legendary LED ZEPPELIN record producer ANDY JOHNS at the helm, WILDSIDE recorded their debut CD in secret at Eddie Van Halen's personal home studio, and also at the renowned A&M studios in Hollywood throughout 1991. Master metal mix-meisters STEVE THOMPSON and MICHAEL BARBIERIO mixed the CD to near perfection. They had mixed and produced many big hair rock bands in the 80's. Capitol Records had a slick package to market to the metal masses. How could they lose?
With a release date of May 1992, music was quickly changing to a new sound. One that was raw, less polished, and stripped down. NIRVANA led the charge of this new "GRUNGE" sound, and "hair bands" were quickly deemed "uncool." Amazingly, Kurt Cobain destroyed 10 years of "Pop-Metal" in six months. It was actually quite a feat for a guy who wrote "radio hit songs" as a clinically depressed, homeless heroin addict who shunned the spotlight, hated mass-marketed corporate pop music, and at the time, lived under a bridge outside of Seattle. RIP Cobain.
Before their CD release, the boys hit the road with THE FOUR HORSEMEN in January of 1992, and got their tour chops. WILDSIDE's Under The Influence debut CD was released worldwide on May 22, 1992 to little fanfare. After the release of UTI they immediately hit the road with BABYLON A.D. and ROXY BLUE throughout the summer on a packaged summer rock tour. Sales bumped up at a brisk pace throughout the tour, and into the fall of 1992. WILDSIDE headlined their own tour December 1992 through March of 1993. This was the highest WILDSIDE would ever climb.
In late 1993, after an "upper management shake up" at Capitol Records, all the execs that signed WILDSIDE were "no longer with the company," including then Capitol President Hale Milgrim. New management at Capitol immediately called it quits for the band in the fall of '93. Regardless of an iron clad contract and a 5 album deal, new Capitol execs ripped up the band's contract and said, "Good luck guys, it was nice knowin' ya!" All in the name of GRUNGE.
WILDSIDE continued to tour into 1994 and write new songs for a new disc on a new label.
Following the dismissal from Capitol, and the recent shift in music tastes, Brent Woods left the band to join Vince Neil's solo project, as a "hired gun." Benny Rhynedance was next to exit the sinking ship.
WILDSIDE, minus Benny and Brent, continued on and recorded a new CD for a privately owned small entertainment company. Releasing a "GRUNGE" CD in 1995 as a foursome, with Bruce Draper from ex-Geffen GRAVEYARD TRAIN handling the guitar chores. The album sold very poorly, and fans were shocked to hear a "jump on the GRUNGE bandwagon." The remaining members disbanded shortly after for regular day jobs.
Bassist Marc Simon is now a successful ticket broker at a very popular L.A. ticket company.
Brent Woods was fired from the Vince Neil band in 2002, (replaced by Mandy Moore guitarist Jason Hook) after years of touring and axe slinging.
Jimmy D. and spouse run a family-owned San Bernadino flower shop.
After a brief stint in 1995 at the Las Vegas Treasure Island Hotel as a pirate/stuntman, guitarist Benny Rhynedance went into Investment Banking in L.A. in '96 and ended up on Wall Street with a known firm in 1998.
Singer Drew Hannah is now in the adult film industry working on background music for adult films.
WILDSIDE had the sound, the talent, the looks, and the attitude to be a HUGE band. What they didn't have was the luck of timing, band camaraderie, and the proper management team making the band's critical business decisions.
Capitol Records had said many times, "WILDSIDE is the next POISON!" Had UNDER THE INFLUENCE been a CD release in 1988, this would be an entirely different article indeed.

Where's Benny?.......2005-06-11
I have been waiting YEARS for any kind of news of this band, and when I got my hands on some rare demos of the band, I was so excited because I had some songs that hardly ANYONE had. Then all of a sudden I hear news that this cd of rare material is coming out. It was kinda cool because it would be better quality than the ones I have. The bad part was that all of a sudden the songs I do have are no longer as rare, but who cares. The part I don't like about this cd is that a 99% of this cd sounds the same as the demos I have.
Only City Of Love and Makin' You Bleed sound different. The rest were left the same. The addition of 2 live songs though was great. Dear God Live, which was originally called Time Heals The Pain was an ok song, which I thought was a new track, but it wasn't, it just had a different title. The addition of Clock Strikes Live was cool though because that is just such an awesome song.
Enough rambling about the cd though, and on with the songs. My personal favourite is Makin' You Bleed, which was probably the WORST song on my bootleg demos cds because the chorus just sucked, and the riff was kinda boring. It was just hitting 3 chords and letting it ring. But the way they redid the song, and all that was just amazing, they really spiced up the chorus and made it pound with attitude, and the guitar riff instead of just letting the chords ring, they made em really punchy with a lot of chugging in between the chords. It really sounds pantera-ish on this cd, while the original just sounds boring.
The band got together after the release of this disc and did a few live shows around the country starting in Salt Lake City, but was only with 4/5 of the members (Brent Wood, Drew Hannah, Jimmy Darby and Marc Simon). So I say WHERE'S BENNY? He was my favourite member of the band when they came out, but apparently he chose not to rejoin the band. He's moved on with his life and is no longer a musician from what I heard. He was starting to get into acting when he left the band in 1993/94, and had a cameo in EXIT TO EDEN with Rosie O'Donnell and Dan Aykroyd.
To end this review I'll say this is a good cd if you haven't heard any of the tracks. The demos of the songs from the Under The Influence cd are a great touch, but they had a lot of other songs that were left off this cd, that they could have put on there instead. Maybe on another cd? Who knows? But if you are a diehard fan of this band and already have the bootleg demos (Six Feet Under:The Demos) then the only reasons to buy this cd is for 4 songs (Makin' You Bleed, City Of Love (Remixed), Dear God Live and Clock Strikes Live).
I give it a 4 rating just because at least they tried, and because they are such a great band. I'd give it a 5 though if it included songs like Six Feet Under, Cold December Morning, and One Touch. I hope this band stays together and releases more material to make up for THE WASTED YEARS!
It's a great trip down memory lane.......2005-01-11
The Good
Right off the bat where treated to eighties metal cliché; a song about a car, and that's what "Hemi-Cuda" is. The drums and the bass keep a nice motor-running rhythm going, while Drew Hannah's vocals are on the low register. At least until he exclaims, `my babies got balls!" I was concerned at first, knowing that Wildside's from Hollywood and all, but then I realized he was talking about the power of his car. Easy as 123 has great rock radio appeal to it. Drew sounds like a cross between Mark Slaughter and Stephen Percy here. Wildside has a fever on city of love, and the only cure is... more cowbell, and they use plenty of it. All jokes aside, it's a straight a rocker that's sure to get you moving.
While side never makes clear whether the demos were polished off or not, but just another night is probably one of the best sounding demos I've heard. It's an acoustic heavy power ballad, but what else would you expect from Hollywood and early nineties? Killing machine shows a darker side of the group. The guitars and more of a meaty crunch in the vocals come off as a glam-ed up Alice Cooper. Here of the dog is another demo which surprise me because I thought was a remake of the Nazareth classic. I can't believe someone else would read a song with that name. Just like the latter, this is a bluesy rocker about a long night of partying.
The Bad
I'm not sure the world was really clamoring for a collection of lost tracks by Wildside. The album artwork is pretty cheesy too.
The Verdict
It's a great trip down memory lane, but I don't know how many times I'd like to return. Great production for an limited budget release. The tracks were well produced and don't come off a demos or leftovers at all.
