Slayer provides an important public service.......2007-04-03

Despite the fact that Slayer is one of my all-time favorite bands, I didn't really like this disc when it came out. If you find this too, keep listening. It will slowly grow on you, and you will grow to completely love it. There is nothing better after an absolutely horrible day at work than driving home and listening to Tom Araya scream lyrics such as those in "Disciple" and "Exile," some of the most eloquently angry lyrics I've ever heard, accompanied by the same hard, heavy, melodic, relentless music that we all know and love. This music sucks the anger right out of me. When I listen, it's as if I get to vicariously experience the release of anger and frustration that these guys must feel when bashing the music out onstage and in the studio. They provide an important public service, really. If we didn't have Slayer to vicariously release our anger and frustration, what kind of a mess would our psyches be in at the end of the average workweek?

I dont care if you hate this ablum, if you like it, your a true slayer fan. ROCK ON- SLAYER never dissapoints unlike others they've stayed true to the genre, unlike metallica from their time...sorry to even mention their forsakened name damn them!!..... Most brutal album ever.......2006-11-20

Don't listen to these [...] that are saying this cd isn't as good as old Slayer. Just beacause they're not playing their instruments as fast as humanly possible doesn't mean it ain't heavy as hell. I own loads of metal cds including every Slayer cd and this is easily the most brutal, hateful, violent album I've ever heard. And thats what makes it great. This cd kicks the crap out of old Slayer and any other metal album for that matter. Buy this CD.

One Of Slayer's Best.......2006-08-14

I can't believe the crap I read about this album, every song on this album is great in it's own right. What you got here is a very heavy, wicked return to form. The production, though a little digital-sounding breathes life into the band and gets them out of that 90's rut they were in. I would put this album right after Reign and Christ Illusion. Though this album is a very solid effort I have a few complaints: 1- There's actually too many songs here and it somewhat dulls the "punch in the face" approach because right around the middle of the album it starts to seem a little lengthy, but thankfully "Warzone", "Here Comes The Pain", and "Payback" put you right back into it again. 2- Tom Araya's vocals aren's so much angry as they are just really loud. I miss the lower "Reign" Style. Don't let that slow you down...But it!!

Most Evil!.......2006-08-10

This is some great Brutality that Has been demonstrated here!This is for thoes who go for the more brutal side of Slayer! I personally LIke where Slayer takes his level of intencity and Bile Hatred typ of thinking and turns it into one Hell of a reallity in this typ of music! And for thoes who do like the intence brutallity singing and rythem this just might make UR Day! Bring out the EVIL with in! Dam'n streight!

The angriest, heaviest album of their career.......2004-12-10

This album is the heaviest and angriest Slayer album of their entire career. Monster guitar riffs collide with Tom Araya's savage, though mostly monotone screaming. The intensity is unrelenting, the playing machine-like in its precision (not a bad thing at all) due in large part to Paul Bostaph's incredibly technical drumming. This is a meatgrinder of an album, its ferocious, thrashing and at times grooves.

The only complaint I have is that sometimes the lyrics go so far over the top with anger that they become parodic. For example: "I keep the bible in a pool of blood so that none of its lies can affect me!!!" Whew, wouldn't it work just as well to just keep the bible in the freezer? Or maybe just not buy one? I mean that bloods got to stink after a while.

However the vocal delivery is fantastically intense, though perhaps a bit too monotone. Tom basically screams his lungs out, though he does do some melodic singing on Bloodline. The guitars are monstrous and combined with the extremely angry vocals, Slayer's sound is a punishing wall of black noise. Its just huge and brutal. Overall this album is the heaviest of Slayers career and the best of the Bostaph era. Some of their previous albums such as Reign in Blood and South of Heaven are classics in the genre, God Hates Us All approaches the magnificence of those albums and certainly surpasses them in intensity if not originality. While GHUA is not as groundbreaking or genre defining as Slayers classic works, it is a great brutal album and the strongest offering from Slayer since South of Heaven. That these guys are in their forties and are playing some of the most brutal and truly menacing metal to be found these days is just amazing.

Best Slayer CD to date........2003-02-05

This is the best Slayer CD to date. Period. Yes even better then South of Heaven. The song "Payback" is one of the best,if not the best song, they have made. Every song on this CD rocks. Buy it.

What an Album!.......2002-05-11

Anyone who knocks this album is full of themselves. There's definitely heavy competition from other earlier Slayer albums, but this is, by far, one of the best metal albums to come out in a long time.

The album is just ruthless. The drumming and riggage is awesome, every metal nuance, lick, passage, is played here by the masters who CREATED them. I simply couldn't believe that Slayer could get it up after all of these years, but they do and more. Listen to this album on a kickin' system, and it'll blow you away. The energy is almost as maxed out as you can get, Tom Araya sounds angrier than ever!

Slayer has definitely 'evolved', and from what I hear, this is the type of evolution that's perfectly OK with me; not like Metallica or Megadeth (I don't even bother to look for new albums from these bands anymore, it's time to move on). It sounds great, it's the GREATEST BAND IN HEAVY METAL TODAY, and possibly the greatest band in metal period. Tom Araya's vocals can be a little monotounous for the picky listener, but there's so much here, that's it's impossible to disapoint. I LOVE this album, and with so much AWFUL new metal out there, to hear music from the kings, keeping it real after all these years, is one of my most rewarding musical experiences since first listening to all of Master of Puppets and Seasons in the Abyss.

Not the Slayer of old, not a bad thing, either.......2007-05-06

Why the review so late into the game? I was just listening to Slayer for the first time in a few months. I'm tired of everyone wanting "Reign in Blood" versions III IV and eventually V. I mean, come on, you don't think a band matures and moves on from playing 100 miles per hour?

Yes, I agree, that the same lyrics are getting OLD...hence the 4 star rating. The music is still top-notch and the aggression is still there, no matter what anyone THINKS they know about the band.

I bought the $28 import version and was glad I did. Yes, I know you can get the two other songs on the recently released box set, but they flow better in this album. It is well worth the extra $15 and then some. I still have yet to watch the videos or anything, I only care about the music.

My all-time favorite song by Slayer is on here: "Here Comes the Pain". Definitely destined to be a classic.

Still Slayer, Still relevant........2007-03-24

This CD is the one that proves that Slayer is still relevant in a year of awful bands, and mediocre albums.
Yes, this sound and style is different as compared to their other CDs like Reign in blood, and Seasons in the abyss, but like all of their albums, they prove that still deliver, plain and simple.
Over the years, Slayer has never tried to re-create a certain style. Each album is it's own entity, as it should be. But each album has that Slayer sound, a sound that is very distinct, no matter what twist is added.
The downtuning is a first for Slayer as heard in "Cast Down", "Seven Faces", "Here comes the pain" and "Payback". But those tracks are still brutal, loud, and fast. There is no standard tuning like the previous albums. Even "Diablos" has one or two songs that are the usual tuning for Slayer.
In some ways, the CD itself is somewhat of a letdown, some of the tracks aren't that great, but the other tracks make up for it by grabbing you by the throat, and throttling you with it's intensity.
But no matter how you look at it, this is a really good CD, especially when heard from beginning to end. Slayers has proven that you do not need to radically change to be relevant. Just a little tweaking here and there.
No matter how you look at it, it's still SLAYER!

F*%$!ng HOSTILE!.......2006-03-29

If You're a fan of the classic Slayer albums, then you probably won't be able to appreciate this album to the extent that you should. Of the hundreds of CDs that I own, this is the one album that I never get tired of hearing. I bought it the day it was released, and have not stopped listening to it since. Tracks like "disciple" and "payback" are heavy enough to give you enough aggression to slap your mother in the face. Flat out, this is one of the best albums you will find to date!!!! BUY IT NOW!!!

Slayer still slaying!!.......2005-01-13

No, it's not the Slayer of the late 80s, but that doesn't matter because 'God Hates Us All' is nothing but "in your face, eardrum bursting" metal! This album does carry a modern sound, but this is the kind of album that needs to be full blasted on your stereo to truly be appreciated. I don't understand why people cry about bands like Slayer evolving, because most of the time they get better this way; & 'God Hates Us All' is a true example of that!

I find it quite hilarious how people call this great music.It's just TERRIBLE music.I've seen dogcrap with more musical talent than these bunch of idiots.What talent do these guys have?The answer would be NO talent whatsoever.If you have an IQ of at least 55,you will be smart and avoid this garbage that has unfortunately been put out.

Many people complain about Slayer have done for the last years and certainly we can see that there was a change of trend nowadays. I think we got used to attach them to thrash metal, but it was the kind of music that they played and everyone else did as well, back ten years ago. Now we see a new metal scene, full of brutality and anger, and it would sound rather wierd if Slayer played the same sound structures, with riffs and screams, into different melodies, what in fact made them masters. Now I ask: how far can they go?

Rest of these songs SUCK. What are Slayer doing? Now that thier millionaires, they don't care if they make a bad album? Every album since Seasons...with an exception for Diabolus... SUCKED TOO. 'Bloodline' made it to MTV for Christ's sake. Slayer are getting worse and worse.

I choose this version of (G.H.U.A.) becasue the 2 extra songs really make this album. God bless SLAYER for not selling out like thier peers Metallica and Megadeth. This is a good album, not as great as South Of Heaven or Reign In Blood, but still very good. The classic tracks on this album are: Threshold, Disciple, War Zone, Scarstruck, and Payback. Scarstruck and threshold are my ultimate fav's on this album. I don't know why "scar" was not on the regular version, but oh well. If your a "real" Slayer fan pick up this version. I really hope they release this album on record. CD's are cool, but records too me sound closer to live music.

I think that this new Slayer CD [is good]. They have been at the forefront of heavy metal for a long time and it is nice to see that they have not sold out like some of the other bands have. I know that they will keep up the good work and produce more quality heavy music for there hardcore fans.
