    5 out of 5 stars I Love Eyehategod!.......2007-07-21

Who takes metal seriously? You? 24 years old with a bum fluff moustache, living in the extension of your mum's house. Or perhaps that fat guy who got done for statutory rape after the Insane Clown Posse show?

Metal is so uncool! So childish, so inane and so not worth paying attention to. But then there are those bands, certain bands that transcend the genre. Neurosis, and The Dillinger Escape Plan and Ulver, the ones proper people acknowledge.

Eyehategod transcend metal too, but they are a paradox to this rule, because they are absolutely metal. Eyehategod are a true expression of Heavy Metal, just as Slipknot and The Darkness and Manowar are nothing of the sort. Eyehategod are not some self reflexive, post modern, self ironic joke, nor are they trite euro metal pop they are an expression of human darkness and turmoil and drug addiction, and so in fact forget what i just said because semantics don't come into it, just style and sincerity and these guys have all of that. This is real motherknower! Sabbath riffs used to bludgeoning effect misanthropic threats spat out by a junkie southern preacher. Dopesick is a work of true force, bone crushingly beautiful, fragile like teeth. Eyehategod are that good. Believe it!

    5 out of 5 stars EYEHATEGOD SICK!!!.......2005-10-10

This is maybe the most NOISEY EYEHATEGOD album.. which is why it might be my fave by them!!

Just from the opening second's of smashing object's and scream's you know this will RULE!!

There aint no BALLAD'S on here..no cover song's..just PURE EYEHATEGOD!!! huge pile's of BASS riff's are on here to..it sound's even more nasty that way!! with EYEHATEGOD you know you will always get a bass intro or 4!!! HAIL'S!!

EYEHATEGOD is a band all their own..taking cue's from the MELVINS,BLACK FLAG,BLACK SABBATH,SLAYER,SKYNARD,GG ALLIN..etc..they created a HUGE NASTY GUMBO of PUNK,NOISE AND METAL!!!

All EYEHATEGOD album's that are availible are good and worth getting!!

Make sure to check out the lyrics..total craziness!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Your salvation from nu-metal crap!.......2005-08-12

Wow. I bought this CD on a whim after reading a blurb about it in Blender. It has blown my mind! Lost your job? Girlfriend left you? Eyehategod are there for you.
I've gotten bored with overtly costumed Euro metal (Cradle, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom) and growl-laden Death metal (everyone else). That's why Eyehategod is a revelation. No choral breaks or violins. No Cannibal Corpse-type grunting. Just pure aggression. From the opening scream and breaking glass of "My Name Is God (I Hate You)", these guys have you by the throat. No melody, no strict musical form, just the purity of a riff and a scream. Feedback is used to its utmost. Eyehategod is so merciless with their audible limits, they make The Melvins sound like Yes.
They always manage to stay heavy, even when they never move above mid-tempo. I'm not too familiar with the "sludge" metal genre, but these guys are just awesome. Be warned - this isn't the kind of music you're gonna be able to turn people onto. "It sounds like it was recorded in a garage." "This guy just screams all the time." Screw 'em, it's good to have heaviness for its' own sake. Hold this CD tight, and it will take you through the darkness.
If you are curious about Eyehategod, I strongly recommend this CD. Buy it, play it in your car, and by the third track you'll be screaming into your windshield and running over children. Ah, what fun....
    Great CD tray photo, too.

5 out of 5 stars My first Eyehategod album.......2005-07-04

I just got Eyehategod's "Dopesick" a couple of weekends back, and it's the first one I ever got from this great band. This album is 12 tracks of pure slow driven, punishing kick ass sludge metal from beginning to end. Every song on here is great. On this album you've got awesome screaming vocals from Mike Williams, punishing guitar riffs courtesy of Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton, haunting bass lines from Vince LeBlanc, and good drumming from Joe LaCaze. This album starts off with my favorite song on here "My Name is God (I Hate You)" which starts off with some slow heavy riffs. I like when the song breaks into a little thrash mid through, and then changes back to slow tempo. Other songs on here I like include "Dixie Whisky", "Ruptured Heart Theory", "Anxiety Hangover", and "Broken Down But Not Locked Up". There's also some really good short songs on here including "Dogs Holy Life", "Peace Thru War (Thru Peace And War)", "Methamphetamine", and "Non Conductive Negagtive Reasoning" all clocking in at 1 minute +. Another favorite song on here is "Zero Nowhere". The trademark sludge riffs from Jimmy and Brian, and Mike's vocals on there will just leave you mesmerized. Anyways this whole album is just fantastic, and if you into Eyehategod, sludge metal, or just good music in general, you can't go wrong here with "Dopesick". Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Dirty, Sludgey, Angry and Good.......2005-05-31

Eyehategod are a brutal band, but not brutal in the sense of creating really fast Grindcore or really Technical Death Metal..Eyehategod are brutal in the way they carry themselves, and their overall don't give a fukk attitude. It comes across loud and clear in and out of every song on this CD, not to mention their other CD's. It certainly gives it an 'edge'..a feeling of hatred. Aggression, even frustration, seems to pertain mainly for Eyehategod's music, underneath all those riffs that sound so dirty and so cool.

Eyehategod's music can be described as hate-filled, chaotic, stoner, redneck Metal..Although all of those things in my opinion (With the term 'redneck' not being an insult, although it probably comes across as one), i still feel they're pretty talented. Jimmy Bower, some Metal fans might know, has been in Crowbar and plays in the Southern-Metal super group Down.

This band would appeal mainly to fans of Down and Crowbar, and like a previous reviewer stated, to fans of Soilent Green as well. Also Sixty Watt Shaman, Acid Bath and Anal C*nt fans would get something out of this. I believe, if you're opened minded enough and want something really hardcore and dirty, you'll enjoy Eyehategod. This CD is a great place to start.
