If you want this soundtrack mainly for the track Arrested By You you would be better listening to Dusty Springfields REPUTATIONS & RARITIES album. She does a lovely version!
Whoa! Total 80's Extravaganza.......2006-08-02
I totally love the synthpop producer/composer of the soundtrack: Rupert Hine.
The overall soundtrack is just amazing, however, it does lack the hidden tracks. :(
But.. it's not worth paying more than $50 USD. (Unless you're wealthy)
Missing Songs.......2005-05-18
Better Off Dead is a great movie and one of my favorites.I bought this CD mostly just for the songs One Way Love and Arrested by you- which are two of my favorites on this CD. I was disappointed and surprised that the songs "Everybody Wants Some" and "I'd Like to get to Know you Well" arent on there at all. The songs on the cd are still okay. But its disappointing they didnt put two of the best songs on the cd

whats up fellow nerds...Of course let me agree by saying this is a classic flick, and one of my all time fav's...One of you has to be able to help...The song im looking for is in the scene when our hero is in the bathroom with the q-tips...i thought it might be sinatra, but i cant find it...help!
A solid compilation of some great 80's music.....(3.5 stars).......2003-08-03
Ya ya ya, the Howard Jones "Like To Get You Know You Well" isn't there and that is already well said numerous times. What is there is some fantastic 80's music that captures the feel of the movie. I am not a huge 80's but this movie holds a special place in my heart and thus I like the songs that remind me of the movie.
With One Look is your streotypical fun 80's song with overemotional lyrics and synthesizers. You don't want to hear it all the time but when you do it really hits the spot. Shine is one of those amazing "pick you up" songs that is fast enough that I added to my jogging lineup. Arrested By You is another exactly the opposite. A slow heart string puller that is best heard staring into the eyes of the person in bed next to you. The rest are OK to mediocre but the intsrumentals are pretty much like in the movie so if you like them there than you will like them here.
Bottom Line: Not exactly all the songs from the movie but not bad if you like varies 80's music.

ok it might not have riffs as memorable in persecution mania or even agent orange, but it is a rock solid album and very enjoyable too. all songs are heavy and kick [butt] and not too many fast ones (actually the sound is more mature than that in their earlier releases). stand-out songs are "an eye for an eye", "saw is the law", "never neverland" and "stalinorgel".

With songs like "She Like That Chicken," "Get On The Whiskey," and "Vibrator," Better Off Dead's self-titled debut on Garageland Records serves up 15 heaping helpings of smoky, greasy, extra rare, home-cooked treats that go equally well with red- or white-labeled beer. The band cites numerous influences and inspiration ranging from multiple gin and tonics to inadequate sexual performance (though these may be somehow related). The album sounds like a late night roadtrip where you stop for gas, cigs, and coffee at a Quickie Mart only to discover that you've stumbled into a wild eviction party being held by the proprietors.

Boogie Picking.......2001-06-21
I purchased this CD, because an old friend of mine was in the band. "Here you go buddy, don't ask for any more favors." When it arrived in the mail I toss the thing, cardboard and all, into the back seat of my car, and I'm off to run some errands. Now, I'm not afraid to admit to you that I have a problem: I can't seem to stop listening to those same three CDs that have been in my car since October, 1999. Nevertheless, I pop in that Guns and Roses for about the one millionth time. Just when Sweet Child O Mine hits its opening crescendo, I've had it. Too much repetition in my life. At the next traffic light, I'm going to pull it from the backseat and listen to Better Off Dead. The disc opens with Boogie Disease, and it is working on my rundown psychie. I am grooving all the way to the Post Office. Next, I need to return some clothing, (father's day error) which is my least favorite chore. She Like That Chicken is a good way to go. Nice song, road-house blues style, and it successfully puts a smile on my face. By the time the song, Liquor in the Front hits me, I'm no longer smiling. I am laughing. I'm laughing so f-ing hard that I sideswipe a telephone pole. Now I have the blues, because I have another errand to run. It's just the normal blues not the Lesbian Blues, track 9, a down and dirty ditty that is truly a gem. In fact most of the tracks included in this fifteen count are gems. The self titled Better Off Dead is a rocking rebellion from the depths of Northern New Jersey, the blues capitol of New Jersey. Do yourself a favor, order yourself a copy, Get on The Whiskey and Get on The Fun.
A fun record by a band I'd never heard of before.......1999-08-06
I took a chance on these guys based on a review in Blues Access Magazine. I'm glad I did. Has a real raw, upbeat boogie, almost rockabilly feel and the lyrics are a blast. Sounds like they'd be a lot of fun to see live.

Having had listened to the entire new album 'Hate Crew Deathroll' for many times already, I would judge 'You're Better Off Dead!' as the weakest song of the album...and I'm not saying it's a bad song!
You're Better of Dead! has an totally other mood to it than, for example, the songs on Follow the Reaper. Like many otehr songs on the new albu, this song seems as if it would include a far larger range of musical aspects than their last release.
This song was oroginally chosen to be the first single due to the fact the band finnished it as the first new song.
So you can expect hard and powerful riffs in ol' good Bodom style!
The second song which is a cover called "Someone put something in my drink", we can again hear how COBs style just fits into all kinds of music. Not bad at all, but I wouldn't consider it as a great masterpiece eitehr.
The songs are just fine.......2003-01-03
To say the least, this is an interesting little CD. "You're Better Off Dead" is a return to the Hatebreeder style of music. There is much more emphasis on the guitar rather than on the keyboard, but the keyboard still adds a nice touch. "Somebody Put Something in My Drink" is a Ramones cover, which is an interesting change since every other cover we have seen so far has been of other metal bands. Since I am not a big fan of any kind of punk, this song is neutral in my mind, even though the song is given a metal feel. So, just as the title of the review says, the songs are just fine. The problem is that the CD itself is extremely overpriced. I could not suggest that anyone purchase this CD at the outrageous price of almost $$$. I think everyone would have been much better off if the CD had either been made cheaper or if the songs were simply used as bonus tracks on a later release.
I liked older COB.......2002-11-07
I think this new COB album isn't that great. They're starting to conform to "New Metal." They're starting to loose their classical style as well as the sick guitar solos. I just hope the album has some better songs than this one. But don't get me wrong, I still think Children of Bodom is one of the greatest metal bands!

SIN-sational Rockin' Blues!.......2002-01-04
Okay, frankly I'm a bigger fan of this band's first CD, Better Off Dead (check it out). But that might be because I've only played this one 1,112 times and the other topped 5,434 times last count (neighbors like it too). Worth the price alone for title song, "Girl with a Job" about gold-diggin' guys. Also like New Orleans fastie "Voodoo Doll." Good-natured funny drinkin' trouble-in-mind tunes like "Did Your Dog Bite My Landlord?" and "Sleepin' in the Sofa." I mean, get a six-pack, party down, and you'll relate. Jerry Springer meets Jerry Lee.
