this is one of the best albums ive ever purchased. If you like neo classical music with some speed metal to it then you will LOVE this cd. Its the most intense album Ive ever listened to besides there next one which gets even better. If you like shred, or just beautiful calm music with great arpeggios bein sweeped over the rhythm then youl definetly love this amazin cd

And thus began Cacophany, a project band to showcase two blokes by the name of Marty Friedman and Jason Becker. On this album the pair are joined by Atma Anur on drums and Peter Marrino on vocals (Friedman laid down the bass tracks). All up this release is very evocative of it's makers, two guys who could play an arpeggio in their sleep but have little to say and perhaps little experiene to really present themselves in the best possible light.

The production here is a little dull, even after remastering. This stunts the record somewhat as do the unexpressive vox. And this latter hurts the albums connectivity, Marrino just not being able to project a personality into these fairly lacklustre mid 80's takes on metal.

Having said that the boys can play, check out third track Ninja. Interestingly the actual solos aren't credited though at times it's easy to pick which chap is playing. The trade offs are great on some tunes, such as Concerto and not toally one dimensional. On later releases both guitarists have played better and were able to grow musically for the better but debut Cacophony is probably best left for hardened fans of these buys due to the limitations discussed above as this disc is a little stunted.

I would like to point out that MTV rocks is funny and you guys are suckers. This album does rule, just not as much as top40 radio hits.

This is a great first album for two exceptional guitarists. The song writing is a bit choppy and uneven at times but the solos are unreal. That sphincter MTV rocks is pulling your legs, as evidenced by his comment about Jason Becker being so lazy that he doesn't play guitar anymore. Becker has Lou Gehrig's disease and can't play guitar except through a special keyboard device and computer programs. An uncool comment by MTV sucks (oops!) rocks. The comment about Cobain is also clearly intended to provoke, since comparing these three guitarists is like comparing a steak and cheese sub to a filet mignon (everyone knows that Cobain was one of the sloppiest three-chord guitarists ever; I think he sucks for unleashing Courtney Love upon the world)

Awsome little CD, Multiple Versions Available.......2006-07-22

I have had this CD for some time now, and it is a cool single. This version has a Gristle mix, which had mixing help from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. The title track, and forclosure of a dream are both album versions, but the Gristle mix is a neat addition because it fortells of woes soon to come in the megadeth mix (Risk...a whole lot of over mixing there).

There are also two other versions of this single available, One has track two Edited Gristle, and Skin O My Teeth Live. The other has Break Point and Go To Hell as the other 2 tracks.

All in all, good Single to have, collectors Item, and for low prices going used. Buy this sigle if you don't want the whole album, or buy it because you are a collector by me.

Cyst is one of the greatest thrash bands of all time .But that's just my opinion. This cd kept me beggin for more after I heard it . It's one of the fastest cd's I've ever heard and the singer is awesome. If your looking for the new sound of thrash and need some Highly motivating, heavy, fast, crisp sounding, intense make you wanna slap your mama! Sound. Then This is it! I just can't wait for there next one. I have a feeling that these guys will defitnatley be around for a while.

An album that brings back my favorite musical genre, without sounding dated. Many bands which attempt to perform thrash these days simply rehash what has already been done by the great orignators of the 80's (Slayer, Destruction, Exodus, you get the idea). A fast and violent upgrade to thrash metal.

Concussion Symphony is a great debut album, showing the band's potential of becoming the top contender in the thrash metal arena. The album explores powerful and aggressive sounds at supersonic speeds, yet it doesn't forget it's metal roots. This is not just another growlfest -- it includes unique and extreme vocals. Cyst definitely won't be a 'local' band for long. These guys are without question masters of their craft.
