    4 out of 5 stars pretty cool.......2007-01-02

I like this band a lot more than COB, but not as much as Kalmah. Skyfire creates some pretty unique music and I love the vocals. The keyboards are absolutely incredible and are what make me love most of the songs on the CD. I love the change between the typical keyboard sound in these bands and the piano, which is best demonstrated in the seventh song (oops forgot the name). Theres some really cool guitar parts in the song afterward. Although there isn't much technicality that you can hear, if you listen closely you can hear some of it and it is pretty complex. That goes with the complaint, and really the only negative of the CD, i have that the sound quality of the recording is less than fair. I can't hear a lot, and it saddens me to miss out on hearing the talent and the complexity to its fullest.

I must say i don't know why anyone hears COB in this... they sound completely different in every way (at least in this CD, as i don't have the other two because of the 40$ cost) The not so good sound recording of this CD alone makes it sound completely different, let alone the more death metal sound than COB, no squeeking of the guitars all the time like COB (thank God) and the lack of the corny horror sound that COB has. The only thing that comes remotely close to COB is the keyboards occasionally use the Renaissance sound, which i can only remember hearing once in this band anyway.

Awesome CD and i look forward to getting spectral, as everyone seems to abosultely love it (and it has a better recording sound supposedly :D)

3 out of 5 stars Good, but nothing new here........2005-12-06

This would probably have been a major metal album if we didn't know about Children of Bodom. That's not to say that Timeless Deception isn't a good album, because it is. It is a solid melodic death metal album with black metal influences and tons of keyboards, and overall has a really good sound. The problem is that it's someone else's sound. Children of Bodom did it first, and quite frankly do it better. Skyfire delivers a solid performance here, but since they cling so closely to the trademark CoB sound, comparisons are inevitable. The keyboards aren't as precise as Warman's, the guitar work not as deadly, and the vocals lack the venom and whiplash delivery that Laiho does so well.

I hate to trash what is really a decent album, but originality counts for a lot, and it is missing here. I'd recommend Timeless Deception to those who just can't get enough Children of Bodom, and don't mind bands that imitate their sound.

    5 out of 5 stars very great.......2004-06-27

this band is very talented...with this album not being there best it is still a must have or just to listen to alot...the bad part for me is i ordered this cd 2 months ago...still havent got it..:(

5 out of 5 stars Thank God for Skyfire.......2004-05-09

This album is amazing. There is really no other way to say it. Fans of Children of Bodom and Kalmah will have no problem embracing Skyfire and putting them at the top of "My favorite band" list. This album, along side with "Mindless Revolution" and their newest to-date release, "Spectral", are all great albums and well worth your time and money. Do yourself a favor and buy this album!

5 out of 5 stars New Favorite Band.......2003-10-02

If you don't have this CD than you need a backhand slap! This album is unbelivable. When I first stumbled across Skyfire I heard the sample for Dimensions Unseen (my favorite song) and I was just... wowed I went out and got the CD that very same day. This band has great talent and will hopefully come to US soon. This is an album for fans of Children Of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah.. the list goes on. They bring in there own style of amazing vocals, guitars, drums, bass, and keyboard. They are an equation of musicians gone straight to the top. BUY THIS ALBUM!
