Earth Crisis on steroids!.......2006-02-27
A long, long time ago I used to be a poser Pantera fan, I went to Pantera shows and pushed other pantera kids around in a so-called mosh pit and thought that this was aggressive music at its best; then came Earth Crisis's release of Gommorahs Season Ends.
I am in debt to Earth Crisis for showing me the light. The power that this album had and still has over me has brought me to a hardcore scene which has breathed new life into the importance of what hardcore is all about. Although this album is not necessarilly a hardcore style album, the message, raw energy, and uncompromising value that it brings to the table represents the best of the hardcore spirit. Earth Crisis has never done anything better than this. This disc has been in my cd player for nearly ten years and I listen to it day after day and it never gets old; and it never will.
Earth Crisis has broken up and have (sorry to say) sold out their style for what ever reason they may have had. However, Earth Crisis made a statement with this album and like other important albums in hardcore lore (Integrity's- Humanity is the devil, Bloodlet's - Entheogen, Strife's - In this defiance, Shai Hulud's - Hearts once nourished) the album will never die, it's flame burns brighter then their sell out releases that followed shortly after, making Earth Crisis one of the most important bands in New School hardcore.
Perhaps someday Earth Crisis will rise again and bring us another album full of power and anthems until then Gommorahs Season Ends will do just fine; this album packs a punch that will last a thousand years.
ARISE AND BUILD ANEW (the last line from broken foundation)
Another good one.......2004-02-29
This album, the follow up to Destroy the Machines, is (in my opinion) the last of the Earth Crisis masterpieces. Though they remain true to their beliefs in their later albums, nothing after Gomorrah's Season captures the pure rage and emotion of this (and their earlier releases).
Check out the lyrics to 'Morality Dictates': "Crowded against one another, or penned into an artifical environment. Unbearable lonliness, separated from their fellow creatures contact. Individual innocent beings, each cow, sheep, pig, goat or chicken. Viewed as a product to be processed. Raised only to be slaughtered and consumed. Murdered victims enshrouded with false names that deny their suffering. Beef, mutton, pork and poultry. Creatures torn and butchered only for the petiness of the flavour of their decaying flesh. The carnage of the slaughterhouse is all completely unnecessary for sustenance of techonologically advanced mankind. Constantly brainwashed from the beginning to believe the opposite of this truth. The brutality is anacceptable. I strive to end the exploitation. Morality dictates. Morality dictates. Morality dictates. Morality dictates that I live vegan."
Gomorrah's season in the abyss.......2001-03-22
The album EC matured into one of the heaviest hardcore bands around. Both lyricaly and instrumentaly this record serves as a call to arms for people to consider what they are doing regardless of sXe. In my opinion EC best album.
Their best work.......2000-04-23
This is the best Earth Crisis CD i've heard. The music is intense and emotional, the lyrics are brutal and urgent, although you can't understand a word that's screamed. One thing that I find odd about EC is that for a band that is so pro-harmony and unity with all creatures of the earth, and so anti-agressive, they seem to be extrememly militant. Nevertheless, a true hardcore release.
Straight-Edge Deathcore.......2000-03-10
First off, there are more than 2 tracks on this cd; the tracks are: broken foundation, cease to exist, gomorrah's season ends, constrict, names carved into granite, situation degenerates, morality dictates, cling to the edge, and forgiveness denied. I really enjoy the music on this cd due to its heaviness and the death-metalish vocals, but I can't get past the preaching lyrics. The lyrics bring nothing to the table that youth of today, gorilla biscuits, trial, or minor threat haven't sung before. This is heavy, but if you want heavy sXe that doesn't preach to you, buy something by Dillinger Escape Plan.
