Very Good Underrated Album.......2006-03-29
I've listened to this album a lot over the last couple of years and I personally think it's better than the first. I enjoy all the songs except maybe Time Ain't Runnin' Out.
A couple of the songs could have been recorded with a little more oomph, listen to Separate on this album and its OK, listen to the live version on Loaded Deck and its brilliant. Juvenile Delinquent is also a little slow, when they played it live at the Limelight Club at the start of the second tour it really rocked.
The best song on the album I would say is It's Over Now, which is a great ballad. Insane is a great tune too.
Definitely buy this is you're a fan of Ace, just don't expect hard rock.
2nd one, as good as the first........2006-02-05
This is the 2nd album by the comet, and it is as good as the first one. His guitar work on this album is more mainlined but just as heavy, and well worth the money. Stand out tracks include, The Acorn is spinning, and Loser in a Fight. This album plain rocks!
Ace Frehley is God........2006-01-16
Alot of customers bash Second Sighting for its commercial appeal, but the power ballads on here are some of the most powerful, catchy rock-ballads EVER. Tod Howarth's high pitched singing tone might annoy. but Ace has never sung a ballad ever,so I guess i'd rather hear Howarth's ballads than Ace trying to struggle through a softer song.Ace's best work is his Raw rock tunesbut Ace Frehley's raw rock n roll voice makes this album worth it.
1.Insane-This is undoubtably Frehleys best song on here it just leaves you beggin for more.
2.Time Aint Runnin Out-One of the more rocking ballads on here, still a solid track though.
3.Dancing With Danger-Ace at his rocking best
4.It's Over Now-Todd Howarth's epic love song.
5.Loser in A Fight-both Ace and Tod sing on this one, probably one of the weaker songs on here
6.Juvinile Delinquent-Powerful,anthemic,great song.
7.Fallen Angel-Another Howarth ballad, this one is one of the catchier power ballads.
8.Seperate-Great song,great guitar work,great hook.
9.New Kind Of Lover-Tod Howarth REALLY lets loose his rock n roll talent here.best Howarth tune since "Breakout" from Frehleys Comet.
10.The Acorn is Spinning-Ace's fast, powerful, shredding guitar work reminds us why he's one of the greats.
Best Songs:Insane,Dancing With Danger,New Kind Of Lover
Worth it.
Overly Commercial and Misguided Second Album........2004-06-02
By the time this second effort from Frehley's Comet was released the airwaves were ruled by power ballad fueled, metal-lite bands like Poison and White Lion, sadly this album reflects that trend. This is even more disapointing when you consider the tremendous promise shown by the debut Frehley's Comet album.
A big problem here is a lack of involvement from the Spaceman, half of this album is penned and sung by Tod Howarth (who would be replaced by the next album). Howarth's songs tend to be mushy attempts at garnering radio airplay, ballads like Time Ain't Running Out and It's Over Now are prime examples of this. Furthermore, his high pitched approach to singing will surely not be everyone's cup of tea.
Another problem is the songs, which are not nearly as strong as the first album's. Lyrical content is downright embarassing at times (Juvenile Delinquent, Separate), and the music seems half hearted.
The only truly great songs on here are the fast paced Dancin' with Danger and The Acorn is Spinning, a mostly instrumental tune where Ace demonstrates why he is considered a true guitar legend with lightning fast licks and inspired soloing. The cd is worth buying to hear this track alone.
Frehley would rectify any problems within his band with his next studio effort, Trouble Walkin', by moving in a much heavier direction and replacing Howarth with the much better suited Richie Scarlet(who incidentally was a member of the very first incarnation of the Comet band way back in 1984).
Not as good as the first Frehley's Comet release, but good.......2004-05-21
Second Sighting (1988.) Frehley's Comet's second album.
Ace Frehley, formerly of KISS, is an underrated genius. While normally the only KISS member who gets any worthwhile credit is Gene Simmons, Frehley is equally talented, if not moreso. He didn't get enough of a chance to express himself in KISS, so he left the band (his replacement in KISS was Vinnie Vincent, later the frontman of power rockers Vinnie Vincent Invasion.) In 1987, Frehley put together a new band, appropriately called Frehley's Comet. Their debut was nothing short of excellent, despite being radically different from KISS. The follow up was released the following year. How does it measure up? Read on and find out.
To put it in the simplest terms possible, Second Sighting fails to top the first studio release from Frehley's Comet. The original album the band released with a masterpiece. This album, though, is only marginally worse - It's worthy of a four-star rating. There are some excellent tracks to be found here, such as Loser In A Fight, one of Ace's finest rockers ever recorded. From start to end, this is a solid rock and roll album, even if some of Frehley's fans would beg to differ. From fast and furious hard rockers to light and melodic power ballads, Frehley does not fail to please.
THIS TEXT REFERS TO THE ORIGINAL CD RELEASE OF THIS ALBUM. The original CD release of this album was not long after the original album release. The liner notes are done pretty well, featuring lyrics and cast/crew information. All in all, this is a pretty good "first issue" of the album, but I wish they would reissue the album. This version is becoming increasingly scarce, and a rerelease with expanded liner notes and bonus tracks would be great. Let's hope Ace delivers one.
All in all, the second release from Frehley's Comet is another solid album. Although Frehley's Comet differs substantially from KISS, they are another excellent band. Take my advice - If you're a fan of eighties power rock, and you come across this OR the first Frehley's Comet release, make the purchase. More likely than not, you won't be disappointed.

Todd Haworth, the talent behind Ace.......2004-03-12
This album contains a "few gems" as the previous rating stated, all of which were sung by Todd Haworth. Unfortunately, finding material from Todd is nearly impossible. Talent gone to waste. Check out the "It's Over Now" track. Brilliance from the first mate on Frehley's comet.

The worst of the Frehley solos. it has a few gemstones but overall nothing special.
