Recorded at the exhalted London venue on April 23rd, 1993. Features six tight versions of tracks largely from D.T.'s independent 1989 release 'When Dream & Day Unite' & 1992 WEA debut 'Images & Words', including the quintet's hit 'Pull Me Under'.

Dream Theater Live......Short But Sweet.......2007-01-29

This live album was recorded on the "Images And Words" tour when the band was really taking off in terms of popularity. It is a single disc that contains material from both "Images" and the band's first album with Charlie Domenici. The album also contains a very cool previously unreleased instrumental called "Bombay Vindaloo". If anyone had any doubts about the band being able to pull of their intricate material in a live setting this album puts all arguments to rest. The inclusion of "Fortune In Lies", and "Another Hand - The Killing Hand" further goes to prove the how much better James Labrie's voice is than Domenici's. The rest of the album feature live versions of "Metropolis", "Surrounded", and "Pull Me Under", all performed fairly similarly to their studio counterparts. "Live At The Marquee" is a nice snapshot in time of where the band was in the early 90's.

my boyfriend loves this cd and it is so hard to find in a store. we have ordered it twice and it did not come, but you got it out fast and in great new condition and i saved the day. thanks!

Live at the Marq..........2006-11-25

That's what they should've called it, since it's only 2/3 of the show they played. I have the whole thing on bootleg, but it sure sounds a heck of a lot better here! Gotta agree with the other reviewers, Killing Hand, Fortune in Lies, and Bombay Vindaloo are the outstanding tracks on this particular album... BTW, Bombay sounds a bit Zeppelin-esque, don't you think? Maybe a tribute one of their influences? Whether it is or it isn't I'm not really sure, but I am sure of this - for me, this is some old school metal at its absolute best!

Classic, powerful early live DT.......2006-08-29

Live at the Marquee was released as an EP in Europe and Japan only in 1993. It's the only DT live album to feature the original "classic" lineup, including Kevin Moore on keyboards. And it is AWESOME!

Contained on here are probably the best versions EVER of Metropolis Pt 1, The Killing Hand, and A Fortune in Lies. Rounding out the set are excellent versions of Pull Me Under, Surrounded (a rarity on live DT releases!) and an incredible one-off instrumental improv, Bombay Vindaloo.

But what really stick out to my ears are two things: the incredible sound quality, which really captures the scope of Mike Portnoy's amazing drumming (and the depth of his drumkit's sound) and James LaBrie's FANTASTIC voice. This has to be the best live recording in terms of James' voice, which makes sense as it was a year later he ruptured his vocal cords, an injury from which he has only recently recovered.

Regretfully, this isn't the entire concert, and as Mike Portnoy has stated on his website the band like the record but don't consider it a "real" DT release, it's doubtful this will get the expanded re-release treatment ever. So we can content ourselves with this exquisite little live document of a band reaching the height of their powers, which they've sustained to this day.

Not bad... not the best.... but not a total loss.......2004-03-18

for what they were worth, GIRL, the glam-rock band from the UK circa the early 80s, had all the makings of the typical trash-post-punk-glam-slam rock bands of the time. The hi-lite here is Phil Collen on guitar, with blistering leads that set him apart from the rest of the band. Obviously enough was his playing setting him apart from the band that Del Leppard offered him a spot a few weeks after this was recorded (and a rather poor recording for a Label release). In the liner notes, it seems Iron Maiden attempted (unsuccessfully) to recruit Collen into their fold earlier in this same tour. I like this for its simple rock n roll formula, and any glam rock fan from Hanoi Rocks to the Darkness would dig on this CD. Have fun!

Real, Raw, Rock n Roll.......2002-07-28

I own all the Girl cds, and this is by FAR one of my favourites. If you like Phil Lewis or Phil Collen, you are going to love hearing these guys in the rawest for a music. LIVE! I recommend this to ANYONE! Enjoy!

The Real Deal.......2002-04-15

I've believe this live album to be awesome. With only marshal amps and the guitar, and the drums that's as raw as you can get. The raw sound makes it all the better. Instead of the polished off live albums you get from other bands, this is the real deal. If you are a Girl fan, Philip Lewis fan, Laffy fan, or Phil Collen fan, you need this album. It's not too often you hear these great artist this raw. I highly recomend it. It is so choice.

Nice try but no banana.......2001-04-14

A great chance sadly missed. The wrong tour and a sub-bootleg quality recording does very little to ensure that people remember this raw, attitude-driven band for what they were at the time. There must be better material available? Even I have a better recording of a gig they did, where both the audience and the band sound like they were actually having quite a good time. I can only imagine that the mighty dollar beckoned. Shame.
