*****.......2007-03-26
First off, if you can get your hands on the UK 2 disc version of Evolution, you should. It is far superior to this collection. This version is for the casual DOA fan. For those of you that thought Dead or Alive began and ended with "you spin me", you are in for a shock. Pete Burns is one of the most under rated vocalists and performers of our time. He has kept DOA going for over 25 years. They have contributed alot to dance music. Over seas, every single song on this cd was a huge hit. Pete Burns vocals are gorgeous and very powefull. He can sing words out of a dictionary and I'd buy it. Most of their singles are included here, including the haunting "misty Circles". As well as one of their best songs and their last American hit, "come home with me baby". which is included here for the first time on cd format as the single version. Produced by Lewis A martinee who was resposible for the success of Expose in the late 80's early 90's. DOA jumped on that band wagon. And succeeded.
Of course their biggest hits are on here as well.."something in my house", "brand new lover" and " that's the way".
The sad truth is that right now Pete Burns is fighting for his life and his face. He has been undergoing months and months of surgeries to repair the damage done by his plastic surgery. Hopefully when he recovers, he'll return to making great music with Dead or Alive.
Cool CD.......2006-08-14
I had a tape of Dead or Alive years ago and would play it in my walkman while I mowed the grass. Got me through the chore dancing and mowing. The CD has the same effect on my now, however I now have a yard man. Great songs and it will keep those legs and arms moving to the music. Love it!
Such a drag ...............2006-03-14
A simply spell bounding collection of HIGH NRG hits from the one and only DEAD OR ALIVE starring "Mriss" Pete Burns!
1. "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" - Perhaps a staple of the 80's. This original "Youthquake" mix cannot be out done.
2. "That's The Way (I Like It)" - DoA's Cheez Whiz moment on "Sophisticated Boom Boom" Still, a fine job. Pete's voice adds more of the much need character.
3. "In Too Deep" - Not the original "Youthquake" mix. No need for post-production, but a great composition.
4. "What I Want" - This gem from "Sophisticated Boom Boom" is not a lyrical triumph, but a great tune!
5. "Misty Circles" - This "Sophisticated Boom Boom" track is one of Pete and gang's greatest tracks.
6. "I'd Do Anything" - This "Sophisticated..." boom "bassic" song is as great lyrically as it's "stacottic" beat.
7. "Lover Come Back (To Me) (2003 Remix)" - The original mix is on "Youthquake". This mix is incidental.
8. "I'll Save You All My Kisses" - This track is only a slight variable of the "Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know" version. Great song.
9. "Hooked On Love" - Again, slightly altered version of "Mad..."'s version. The fade out is a nice touch.
10. "Come Home (With Me Baby)" - This "Nude" tune shouldn't have been altered at all for this collection. Still, the song doesn't lose much of it's appeal.
11. "My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me To The Doctor)" - Altered, yet doable, version of the "Youthquake" hit.
12. "Sex Drive" - Pete 'does' it with an Italian twist. This "Nukleopatra (USA/AU/UK/JP)" track is well done.
13. "Turn Around And Count 2 Ten (2003 Remix)" - NO MORE remixes Peter! All in all, a great tune though.
14. "Hit & Run Lover" - "Fragile" gave us this perfect pop.
15. "Isn't It A Pity" - Pete's "Fragile" heart is better for this lyrical and vocal triumph.
16. "Brand New Lover" - This "Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know" track isn't the single release. Fairly untouched and great!
17. "Something In My House" - More HI NRG and less Flamenca on this remixed version of the "Mad..." hit!
18. "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) (Metro 7 Inch Edit)" Actually, from a collection hell bent on remixing perfection, this reworked classic isn't bad at all. It's Cherbot, and I love it.
Scarily good!.......2006-01-10
Ideal for people who like the song 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' so much they don't mind spending money on 17 other songs they will probably never listen to.
Splurge for the import 2-CD collection AND the UK-Only DVD!!.......2005-12-29
If you're a true DOA fan, there is only one option: splurge for the 2-CD UK Import set of EVOLUTION, featuring ALL of the hits plus many of the hard-to-find-on-CD original remixes (alas, no OFF YER MONG remix of IN TOO DEEP, why?!) - but why stop there when you can also spring for the UK-Import-Only DVD collection of ultra-rare VIDEOS, including the amazing, stunning, and maybe even a bit disturbing 2003 remix video of their biggest hit, YOU SPIN ME ROUND, featuring Pete Burns Circa 2003 pushing the envelope for plastic-surgery-as-art?! One look and you'll wonder if his current muse is Dave LaChapelle's AMANDA LAPORE?! He used to be a gothic/pop "freak" -now he's more like a cybo-tron drag queen robot - WOW! The sad thing is, Pete Burns CAN sing, CAN write hooks, and CAN put on a great stage show persona - too bad no major label in America will ever see fit to put out some NEW music by DOA, instead of Sony endlessly re-hashing, re-mixing, and re-releasing the same ol' batch of 80s hits over and over, ad nauseum. Pete and Co. really deserve better. Check out Pete's collaboration with PSB, "JACK & JILL PARTY," for electro-cheeky proof positive that DOA could still be a chart contender. Until then, buy this CD and the DVD - but wait, you'l need to get a Cyber-Home-300 region FREE DVD player first...but I digress.

David Bromberg is due for rediscovery. As a '60s and '70s session man, he lent his blues skill to records by Dylan, Paxton and Jerry Jeff Walker. But none of that work suggested his talents as an arranger, his full command of diverse American genres, nor his husky, moving vocals. This '74 reissue is a fine place to start with Bromberg, and songs like "Send Me to the 'Lectric Chair" and his medly of "Statesboro Blues/Church Bells" serve notice of the talent of this overlooked, roots-music master. --Roy Francis Kasten
Customer Reviews:
Great selection of solid tunes.......2006-11-06
I bought the vinyl version in the 70's purely based on the cover art. I laughed out loud. I wasn't dissapointed and was happy to get the cd version to add to my collection. David is quite a showman and he gathers some great help on this collection. George Harrison, Jerry Garcis, Phil Lesh, etc.
All the songs are great but Someone Else's Blues, Danger Man and Kansas City are knockouts. All other versions of Kansas City seem terribly tame after you hear this one. Statesboro Blues and Send Me to the Electric Chair showcase his amazing vocals. Good timing, good drama, good storytelling, good music.
great musician.......2006-06-22
I just recently replaced my vinyl copy with this cd. I saw him a couple of times in the 70's.
I read an article about him in Rolling Stone. He really impressed me. He said that when he practiced he tried very hard to play what he heard in his head, and to not accept the limitations of his guitar. Also, a girlfriend at the time told me that she had seen him at the Philly Folk Festival and that he was great Funny, talented, played EVERY kind of music masterfully.
If you are the kind of person who reads liner notes (and I am), you could see that he played on and produced many albums by a HUGE groups of artists back in the day. At one time he was one of the most respected musicians in the business.
As the reviewer says, he's due for a comeback. OVERDUE. Anyway, this was always one of my favorite albums, especially the "New Lee Highway Blues".
Saddle Up.......2005-10-04
This is the kind of album for which you can easily round up a party posse or enjoy on your own. Intelligent and well-crafted, the music will work for the critical or casual listener.
Never one to take himself or his material too seriously, Bromberg focuses his considerable skills on the service of his songs and their character, and his enjoyment is unrestrained and infectious.
Today, Bromberg is the owner of a violin shop, and his live performances are sadly limited. But this album, while basically a studio recording, captures the breezy Bromberg style, relaxed and inviting. But don't get too comfortable, because when you're kicked back and least expect it, he really will take all your money.
A towering album.......2004-02-23
If a picture is worth a thousand words, what's the value of a
musician's art that paints picture after picture. Bromberg is
a master of his art, and this album catches some of the feeling
of his live shows. You owe it to yourself to get this CD. Among
everything else, it's just a lot of fun.
Gary
Dead and Alive.......2002-08-09
Someone should point out the obvious pun in the title of this album. The second half is from a live acoustic show, while the first half was recorded in the studio backed by most of the members of the Grateful Dead. These were two separate album sides back in the dark ages of the pre-CD era. Features some of his best tunes, including a remake of the catchy pseudo-mariachi number he co-wrote with George Harrison, "The Hold-Up", which originally appeared on Bromberg's self-titled debut.

Product Description
Marley Marl remained on board, and Large Professor and Eric B. also hopped on to help produce Kool G Rap & DJ Polo's second album. With a wider range of sounds and the expansion of G Rap's lyrical range, "Wanted: Dead or Alive" is wholly deserving of classic status. The opening "Streets of New York" remains one of the most thrilling and unique rap singles released; the sparse rhythm, adorned with assured piano runs that complement the song to the point of almost making the song, falls somewhere between a gallop and a strut, and G Rap outlines more vivid scenes than one film could possibly contain. The track cemented their role as East Coast legends and showed Kool G Rap's talent as an adept storyteller like nothing before or since. Likewise, "Talk Like Sex" is the nastiest, raunchiest thing he ever recorded, with "I m pounding you down until your eyeballs pop out" acting as an exemplary claim, as well as one of the few that is printable, made in the song. The boasts, as ever, are in no short supply, but "Erase Racism" takes a break from the normal proceedings with guest spots from Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie. It's both funny and sobering, with Biz's Three Dog Night chorus providing comic relief after each verse. This album is only part of a major swarm of brilliant rap records from 1990, but it will never be lost in it, and it's important because it's the release that influenced Rakim and Kane to step their game up to levels they didn't know they could go to. Cold Chillin' and Traffic proudly present "Wanted: Dead or Alive", available for the first time as a double disc set, including the original album, and a plethora of substantial bonus material, from artwork to audio. With all the songs being digitally re-mastered, this project has been thought out, done right and handled with care, and we hope you enjoy it.

Product Description
Heavy Metal or Heavy Mellow? What if Slash, Kirk Hammet, or Richie Sambora learned the piano instead of guitar? It would have sounded something like this... Pianist Scott D. Davis reveals his rock roots with his latest CD "Rockfluence", performing some of his favorite rock songs, guitar solos and all, with nothing but a solo grand piano. Includes songs originally recorded by Guns 'N' Roses, The Eagles, Evanescence, Metallica, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, Journey, Europe, Billy Idol, and one Scott D. Davis original.
Customer Reviews:
A Perfect Blend of Piano Solo and Rock-N-Roll.......2006-06-30
Scott's music is soothing as well as entertaining, emotional as well as inspiring, gentle as well as invigorating. You have to listen to it to catch the blend and beauty of his work.
Fabulous!.......2006-02-20
I just purchased this CD today, and song after song I just smile and think "this is so beautiful", and it's mostly original hard rock songs, it's like an oxymoron but it is wonderful. My 7 year old daughter doesn't know the songs originally, and she kept saying how the songs were bringing tears to her eyes. I got this CD after hearing him at the Galleria Mall in Roseville, Ca. because it was so awe inspiring as he played. I wanted to share it with my family, especially my 5 year old who can play music on the piano from ear, which aparently is how Scott started playing himself, and I wanted his music to be an influence to her. He is a true inspiration. Thank you, Scott, for sharing your talent with us.
from Solo Piano Publications.......2006-02-07
Pianist/composer Scott D. Davis has been referred to as "the rocker of new age/contemporary classical music" for a couple of years now. When fellow pianist/composer David Nevue introduced Davis as such at a Whisperings Solo Piano Radio concert something resonated within him. He had been urged for years to record an album of recognizable cover music, but he resisted, preferring to record his own original material. Somehow, Nevue's introduction freed Davis to return to the music that helped shape his energetic performing style and to create solo piano arrangements of some of his favorites. It's a wide-ranging collection spanning thirty-two years of rock and metal music from 1971's "Stairway to Heaven" (Led Zeppelin) to 2003's "My Immortal" (Evanescence). Davis stays true to the spirit of the originals, and yet makes them his own. Actually, there is one piece on the album that is newer than 2003 - Davis' own "Scherzo." Most of the twelve tracks are intense and rather dark - no bubble-gum teeny-bopper stuff here - so it's obviously geared for a more mature audience. Even though I can remember just some of the words to the oldies that I grew up with and wasn't familiar with the more recent hits, I thoroughly enjoy this album. There should be at least one song here that just about anyone can say, "Oooh! I love that song!"
"Rockfluence" opens with "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses, a song full of rock-style tenderness and love. "Hotel California" is given a full almost-eight minute treatment that is very true to the original. "My Immortal" by Evanescence is a quieter slow-dance ballad that Davis fills with passion. "Nothing Else Matters" from Metallica is dark and very intense - a beautiful arrangement! I couldn't quite imagine "Stairway to Heaven" as a piano solo, but it works well! I really like the mystery and drive of "Wanted Dead or Alive" from Bon Jovi. "Open Arms" from Journey is one of my favorite songs from the early `80's, and Davis keeps it warm and loving - also a great arrangement! Another favorite is Europe's "The Final Countdown," a powerful, emotionally charged song with a gorgeous melody. Billy Idol's "White Wedding" really rocks, leading up to the closing track, Davis' own "Scherzo," a musical term that means "joke." I first heard this impressive piece in a live setting, and it really makes people sit up and take notice! Davis' fingers fly all over the piano with the various themes of the piece, which range from slow and almost sedate to a wild and crazy romp that makes me think of chase scenes in old movies. "Scherzo" clearly demonstrates Scott Davis' playing chops as well as his musical sense of humor. Fun!
"Rockfluence" is truly a musical good time, showing what these rock classics sound like stripped down to one instrument and no vocals. Good stuff!

Other Bands.......2006-02-03
Gotta check out Hatebreed, Full Blown Chaos, Figure Four, Will to Live (outta Houston), Sworn Enemy, and if you can find more post it back here.
finally a good new tough guy band.......2006-02-01
now i love tough guy hardcore music but there are just to little bands. i mean the only ones i can think of off the top of my head are Hatebreed Sick of it All Agnostic Front Madball and Throwdown. Shutdown is pretty good but i dont i would call them tough guy. but now finally we have Bury Your Dead. these guys have been around since 2003. they have to recording albums. Cover Your Tracks and You Had Me at Hello. now they just released this great live album. they take all of the energy off of those two albums and times it by 8. each is intense and awesome. the intensity only stop in the breaks between songs when the lead singer talks and yells at the crowd. the songs are filled with great hardcore yelling double kick drums and awesome breakdowns. the recording really makes you feel like you were there at the show. these guys are the best tough hardcore band since Hatebreed and on this album they prove it even more.
A true live album.......2006-01-18
First off, if you're used to live albums that sound crystal clear and squeaky clean with almost no errors, then you may not dig this album. Unlike many other bands/artists who alter a live recording in the studio to make it sound "cleaner" or "more professional" or anything like that, Bury Your Dead is completely live and alive on this recording. As far as I know and hear, no overdubbing exists on this album. This is probably one of the best live albums I have ever heard, not so much for its musical clearness and quality, but because it accomplishes what I believe a true live album should accomplish: a live performance. Not a live performance that's later tweaked with in the studio. The production is well done, but it still has that raw feel that comes with playing live. Some people don't care for the mic being handed to the fans in every song, but this isn't a sit down and relax kind of show. Nor is it a huge concert in some huge arena. It's a hardcore show, in a mid-sized hall/club, and more importantly, it's a Bury Your Dead show. Crowd participation is key with this music and with this band, so capturing that on record and on camera really shows how well the band connects with their fans. You really feel like you're there when you're listening to it and watching it. Mat is a great frontman, with great vocal delivery and stage presence. He talks to the crowd like he's one of them, not like some larger-than-life rock star. The setlist is near-perfect, mostly with songs from Cover Your Tracks, but there are a few from the first full-length as well. I personally would've liked to hear songs like "Risky Business" or "All the Right Moves", but all in all, this is a energetic record that really gives you an idea of what a live Bury Your Dead show is like. The DVD could've contained more stuff, like backstage footage or even a segment about life on the road. However, the stuff that's there is pretty cool. A great buy if you're a big fan or a casual fan.
"Bury Your F*cking Dead!".......2005-12-16
At first when I heard that Bury Your Dead would be releasing a live CD/DVD, I was kind of skeptical. I didn't really understand the purpose. Bury Your Dead only had two full lengths under their belt, and there was a period after "You Had Me At Hello" where the group briefly disbanded. A live album (which is what Victory is marketing this as) seemed somewhat weird. Then I heard that Victory didn't win the rights to "You Had Me At Hello" to re-release it, so I sort of understood again. However put all that aside, because "Alive" is a great pick up if you're a fan of the band or hardcore in general, especially if you've never seen Bury Your Dead live. There are some slight problems, but overall it's a great release from a great band.
The sound quality is great for this being a live release. You really feel like you're in the crowd at the show when you listen to the cd. However the vocals only play through the left speaker, which is kind of a problem. I don't understand why the production wouldn't run the vocals through both speakers. There's also a lot of giving the mic to the fans, which is a good and a bad thing, because sometimes there will be parts where the vocals just drop out for a while. This definitely gives it a genuine live feel though. As far as the show, the band sounds as good on this release as they do in person, so that is a major plus. The set list is pretty "Cover Your Tracks" heavy, but since this is a Victory release, and that's their only album on Victory records, it's no surprise. We still get some great old school BYD songs like "Sunday's Best" and "Camo Is My Favorite Color". The interaction between the band and the crowd is notable too, as they do a great job of incorporating the fans into the show. As for the DVD, it's as solid as the cd, pretty much the same things I've already covered, just apply them to the video. There's also some bonus footage of Matt going to the hospital afterwards, and a comical exchange with a Doctor. The only drawback besides the audio problems is that it's so short. The show is only 30 minutes all together, and then factor in the footage of Matt at the hospital, and overall this CD/DVD is just too short. Maybe if the band had played some more songs, or there would have been more behind the scenes footage to go along with it, I could have given this a 5. But alas, that is not the case.
If you're a Bury Your Dead fan or a fan of hardcore, you're most likely going to be pleased with this release, just don't expect too much. Basically it's only designed to focus around the live show, which in itself is great. The DVD may be lacking some footage, and overall it may be a little short, but most of that can be overlooked. If you haven't already done so, be sure to check out the band's two full length records "Cover Your Tracks" and "You Had Me At Hello" along with this. They are essential listening to go with this album.
Im glad there's still a good band on victory. .......2005-09-06
Man what can be said about BYD that hasnt been said before. This DVD/CD shows the brutality of a Bury Your Dead show. Seriously folks, it DOES get that crazy. I saw them play last november and almost got trampled in a stage rush. There's some great footage of Mat getting staples by an extremely creepy doctor.
This is probably the most brutal underground (but not so underground no one's ever heard of) band out there.
And theyre the only ones left now that throwdown sold out and went anti-dancing.

best cd ever.......2007-04-28
okay, i only named it that because of the few who rated it 1 star and... the one who rated it 3. it really is one of my favorite cd's though. it is an aquired taste and a love it or hate it cd. if you rate this a 3, i really don't understand you. i have fallen asleep to this cd blasting in my headphones once, and that is truly terrible. because this is probably THE heaviest cd i own, and although the members have changed (besides scogin) the chariot continue to rule with UNSUNG and the fiancee. they never cease to amaze me, but this album will take time to grow on you. once you do, you WILL NOT put it down for a LONG time.
The Ch Ch Ch Ch Ch Ch Chariot!!!!.......2006-04-21
Well, obviously if you are looking at the reviews for this CD you may be seeing that people either LOVE this CD or HATE this CD. I am one of those that LOVE it. The Chariot is mainly a thrash band without the 30 second songs. They have all the brutality of The Locust, Et Tu Brute? and bands in that genre without having 1.) The blood lusty, depressing lyrics, and 2.) The half minute songs that all sound the same after an hour of listening.
The Chariot is fronted by Josh Scogin of Norma Jean (Who, by the way, does a LOT better than the new vocalist they have). He has a huge range with his vocals and brings over his trademark long song titles for this CD. (Check out the title for track #2) But the lyrics he writes are poetic and uplifting, not dark and disturbing like others in the genre. And if you pick up "Everything Is Alive..." check out their "Unsung EP" with some new music and a concert video that is wicked. Bottom line is, though, you are going to like it or hate it. So maybe borrow it before you buy it to check it out. But if you are a fan of Norma Jean or even As I Lay Dying, you should give it a once over.
Chaotic Metal: Definitely An Acquired Taste.......2006-04-06
I got a good laugh out of the sticker on the corner of "Everything Is Alive..." that read something like "For Fans of Opeth, Unearth, and ASHLEE SIMPSON". A band on Solid State Records that sounds like a mediocre pop "star"? Yeah right; this band definitely has sense of humor.
When I first played the CD, I listened to the first track all the way through. I absolutely hated it. I then skipped through all the other tracks and listened to about 30 seconds of each. More of the same. I couldn't believe that I had wasted my money on this pile of slow-paced loud noisy garbage. The guitar feedback grated on my eardrums, and I ended up with a massive headache. Needless to say, I took a break from The Chariot for a while.
A few weeks later, however, the song "Die Interviwer" popped up on my mp3 player's random shuffle, so I listened to the whole song. I could actually tolerate it. Soon, I started listening to more and more songs from the album, and I was amazed by the realness of the sound, and the incredible brutality of it all: the ripping guitars, the pounding drums, and the lead singer, who roars like a man possessed. I listened to the album all the way through, and I was hooked.
The Chariot is a truly incredible band, and is nothing like I've ever heard before. They draw a listener in more than Norma Jean ever will. They are just as amazingly brutal in concert, also. However, a word of warning: You cannot just start listening to this band. A love of metal is required, and you have to be open to new styles. I would recommend listening to bands such as Becoming the Archetype before picking this album up. But it is well worth it; listening to The Chariot is a breathtaking experience.
DO NOT!.......2006-02-20
This is one of the worst metal releases of all and I mean
ALL time. Lots of long song titles that make no sense and
are stupid. Short songs. Sloppy metal. Horrible screaming.
Crap. Get zao instead.
Feedbackfest 04! Starring The Chariot.......2006-02-08
Well.......what to say about this album other than.....it has mroe feedback than a Who concert (even at 13 decibels haha!) This one is decent at best....I'm glad a friend of mine burned it for me instead of me going out and actually paying full price because it's not that great. I was expecting so much from Scogin but ya know what......if you really want to hear what this band can really do, check out The Unsung EP. Now I can understand how most people really love the rawness, I am one of them believe me, but ya know what....there is only so much feedback that one person can take without wanting to throw the CD out the window. The one blessing that this album gives you is that it's only 29 minutes long. My favorite song on the CD by far is track 5 And Then, Came Then. I love the intro with the classical music, then Josh's bone rattling roar blasts from the speakers. If you're looking for Norma Jean 2....don't listen to this CD. The only thing NJ about this CD is Scogin. But if you're interested in The Chariot, listen to The Unsung EP...the songs have more of a polish but it still showcases the talent wonderfully.

Not required. Oh no SONY!.......2006-01-30
Epic, whatever! This LP just isn't necessary. Don't waste your time. This LP is an afront to my musical soul. Pete Burns would agree, just nothing. Put your $$$ on "Nude" instead of this rubbish. What a shame.
Best Dance Remix CD from the 80's .......2005-09-23
Pete Burns and company gave us some of the most innovative and heavy dance music...with his glam/genderbender image and free use of sexuality, Pete burns and Dear or Alive gave us dance music which was heavy with a dash of goth to it....RIP IT UP gives us the best of the band with the cd compiling some of the greatest tracks from the YouthQuake and Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know CDs. IT contains the very cool (yet overplayed) You spin me Round, the Sexy Hooked On Love, the Gothic Something In My House and other gems such as Lover Come Back to Me and In too Deep....All put together in a never stopping 47 minute mix of hot sexy, heavy 80's Dance. If you want some of the best the 80's offered in British Dance, this album is the one to get!!
OK NOW FOR THE FACTS.......2005-09-13
I've been a DoA diehard for years so i am not against the group but this CD sums up what is most appalling and criminal about the record industry.
Basically, they have taken 8 of their best songs and "remixed" them in an edited form !! The result is that you have a CD capable of storing 80 minutes of music, that barely lasts 35 mins as they are all edited 7" versions.
I can't understand that amongst all the reviews here, no-one has bothered to mention this because i think it is crucial...the very title of the album "rip it up" suggests an extended cd compilation.
As for non-stop dance mix, it isn't , it's simply been passed through a nero editor to eliminate the 2 second pause between the tracks, nothing else.
Bitterly disappointing, would it really have cost them to compile the full versions ?
Dead Or Alive deserve a better tribute than this offering.
Greatest hits nonstop.......2005-07-26
It's a bit like a Greatest hits nonstop mix, which was nice back then - but by now we have so many "Greatest hits"-items by Dead or Alive that new material would be highly appreciated too
An 80's dance music Icon.......2004-07-29
Dead or alive is one of the best Dance music Bands in History. Its a shame that we don't have more bands like that anymore.
Guys you are the greatest

Customer Reviews:
a MUST for any TRUE fan!!.......2007-05-08
If you're considering purchasing this CD but aren't sure because you have some of their other CD's (like the single Evolution CD) I highly recommend purchasing this! Because it has rare songs and remixes like 'Your Sweetness (Is Your Weakness)' which can only be found on 'Fan the Flame' (which is around $50 on any US site) As a plus it contains rare photos of Pete Burns which are just amazing! If you're a fan of the band, and Pete, I wouldn't suggest passing this up!!!
Dead Or Alive? Very much ALIVE!.......2006-06-06
I would have to be one of the biggest fans/followers of Dead or Alive and this double CD is a MUST for any fans of DOA or 80's HiNrg..The double limited edition of 'Evolution' contains some tracks such as the 'should have been single' 'I Paralyze' and the brilliant 'International Thing' that do not feature on the single edition, which is more of a singles collection rather than the double which seems to be more of a singles/best of collection. All the classic DOA tracks feature in either their original single versions, original extended versions, edits of extended versions, album versions or remixes. My favourites would have to be 'My heart goes bang' ( would have liked the original 7" or 12" version rather than an edit of the US Wipe Out Mix ), Brand New Lover ( An edit of the album version ), Come Home with me Baby, Rebel Rebel, Nukleopatra & of course the BEST HiNRG song ever made 'You Spin Me Round ( Like a Record)'...i would so much have liked to include 'Lover come back to me' & 'Something in my House' as my favourites also, however, the versions on here are both from the japanese release album 'Fragile' and are FAR inferior to the original versions...the only negative of this cd is some poor remixes were chosen over the originals...i wait for the day DOA release an album including ALL single versions ONLY...great picture booklet comes with this cd...no pics of the band or an eye patch in site...only Pete in various poses...showing off THOSE lips..a GREAT cd..a must buy...
Double disc version has some rareties and oddities.......2005-09-18
For big collectors of Dead or Alive, this disc is a must. It has some real hard to get stuff on CD, but it's not without surprise mixes, and problem mixes. From what I can determine these are some of the issues:
CD1
1) you spin me round (performance mix) (7:27) (good alternative to the US 12" mix)
2) My Heart Goes Bang (US wipe out 12") (6:00) (Unfortunately, it fades 15 seconds earlier than the actual 12"!!!!)
3) sex drive (6:36) (this is a different and longer mix than the Nukleopatra CD version)
4) what I want (5:50) (this is the 12" version-EDITED! 12" runs 6:14)
5) brand new lover (4:47)
6) misty circles (4:39) (Longer than the LP version, but not the 12")
7) love come back to me (4:57) (this might be the UK 12". It's not the US 12")
8) I'll save you all my kisses (3:36)
9) I don't wanna be your boyfriend (4:42)
10) hooked on love (5:15) (not the LP version, but an extended version)
11) I'm a star (4:35) (edit of LP version)
12) something in my house (the FRAGILE CD version, which is a modern remix)
13) isn't it a pity (the FRAGILE CD mix)
14) you spin me round (metro mix 7")
CD2
1) I'd Do Anything (5:23) (this is the full 12" version!!!)
2) come home with me baby (3:57)
3) that's the way I like it (3:06) (shorter mix than the original LP version)
4) international thing (3:44) (shorter than original LP version)
5) in too deep (3:50) (a different mix than the LP version)
6) unhappy birthday (7:31) (remix from the Nukleopatra CD)
7) I Paralyze (5:57) (FRAGILE CD version)
8) baby don't say goodbye (6:15) (slightly longer than the NUDE CD version)
9) turn around and count to ten (6:54) (slight remix of NUDE CD version)
10) your sweetness is your weakness (5:49) (LP version)
11) nukleopatra (4:18) (slightly different mix than LP version)
12) rebel rebel (4:03) (shorter than LP version)
13) hit & run lover (4:41) (FRAGILE CD version)
14) you spin me round (6:20) (mark moore & mr motion extended remix)
DOA rule.......2004-01-19
I buy anything they do and am always happy if something new comes out. Of course you can't disagree that this Greatest Hits is great, because it includes all their greatest hits :) And also some of the rather hard to get Japanese stuff. Nevertheless, I would also like to get NEW stuff or maybe even new remixes. This is a good album for all the people who have to catch up, but please do something new too :)
