3 out of 5 stars Upcomming Star.......2005-06-04

This album was disappointing in a way. It is a good album and Wayne is lyrically gifted but I have heard way better songs from Wayne on many mix tapes and I expected more out of this one. There are good party songs like "Feeling it", "In The Club", "Why", "Overcome", and my favorite "Marshall Town" I guess he was going for a more mello and righteous mood for this album. But I know for sure that his next album is going to be "Fire"

3 out of 5 stars Marshall In Town.......2004-05-26

I wasn't sure about this CD but because I have heard Wayne Marshall in some collabo tunes mainly Vybz Kartel and Bounty Killa, I gave it a shot.

It's not great and it's not bad at all..There are some good tunes in the CD, Zone Out, Natural Mystic to name a few and souple of more.

Chu chu Chum, marshall in town.

(1993 / indie / Germany) Brilliant debut from one of the most overlooked heavy metal bands of the 90s, Harrow. Fans of Leatherwolf/Pretty Maids influenced style fist-pumping metal of groups like Kage / Chroming Rose (early) / Letter X / look no further than this brilliant debut from Harrow. Featuring a lead singer who's voice soared as high as legends like Kiske and Tate- and a killer harmony double axe attack that would impress fans of Marshall Law- this CD lacks nothing. Out of print.

EXCELLENT ALBUM - KILLER VOICE AND SPEED !!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL OLD SCHOOL HEAVY METAL FANS !!!

5 out of 5 stars Short but sweet........2005-03-20

Judging by the other reviews, many people seem to be prejudiced against this, Obsession's first EP, probably based on its brevity. The two albums that followed this do win quantity-wise, since they're full lengths filled amply with heavy metal that showcase the excellent guitarwork and Vescera's pipes. But implying the EP is of inferior quality would just be High Treason, because on the contrary, it's got the band's best stuff.

The first two songs are high-class, Priest "Defenders..."-era-inspired metal, similar to all of their later work and to what many other Metal Blade bands (and most of the entire US traditional heavy metal scene, really) were doing in the early '80s. They're certainly enjoyable, but nothing spectacular.

"Execution" is sort of unusual as it contains quite a lot of solos which are all excellent, but remains a coherent song instead of deteriorating into technical wankery or overzealous shredding. The harmonized bits in this song represent the band's most memorable guitarwork for me.

The title track however, is the real crown jewel. It's a fine heavy metal anthem, wonderful in its simplicity, with a catchy chorus and that indescribable bit of over-the-top delivery that makes heavy metal what is it. It's arguably the band's best and most memorable song, the only other contender from their discrography being "Shadows of Steel" from Metal Massacre II.

I think it would be asinine to deduct stars or speak negatively about this EP just for the length, but it is a shame Metal Blade doesn't feel this warrants more than a mini-CD pressing in the US. One of the older Euro-pressings paired this with Witchkiller's EP, which may have seemed odd considering the band's geographic location, but material-wise it made perfect sense--another '84 EP of solid heavy metal with a standout title track. On the other hand, without any bonuses, the material here really does stand out as it should.

One thing does make up more than enough for the short length in my mind, though. The EP's title, in conjunction with the cover, remains one of the most clever wordplays among heavy metal song/album titles, and a bold statement on dealing with those in the genre who are less than sincere.

5 out of 5 stars The man behind the band!.......2000-05-24

I am originally from Connecticut where Obsession got their start playing in clubs. I am a long time fan! Marshall Law was their debut album. It was not their best work but still very good . Their following two albums "Methods of Madness" and "Scarred for Life" will give you a much better perspective on their talent. If you liked the Scorpions and Judas Priest you will like these albums! Although the singer Mike Vascera gets most of the recognition, the true mastermind and talent behind this band is lead guitarist Bruce Vitale!

    3 out of 5 stars Marshall Law.......2000-02-25

Good debut EP, but Obsession's best album by far is "Methods of Madness". Also check out Mike Vescera's first album with Loudness, "Soldier of Fortune". Good effort.

3 out of 5 stars good for old fans of real heavy metal.......1999-12-16

this album is good ,but is not their best work, their best work is scarred for life ,this band features mike vecera who later sings with loudness and yngwie malmsteen ,if you like old school heavy metal this is for you!

3 out of 5 stars Good, soothing modern classical.......2000-09-19

This is pretty good stuff. Soft, relaxing - not the type of discordant modern classical that would drive your cat (and you, perhaps) from the room, but still quirky enought to qualify as modern classical and not new age. A very good selection for an evening in front of the stereo and/or fireplace, as the title suggests. I only gave it three stars because it's not the sort of thing you'd want to listen to all the time, but when you want it, you'll be glad you have it.
