Customer Reviews:
This is the best instrumental album i've ever heard!.......2005-11-02
This is the debut solo album from former Ozzy, Ratt, Rough Cutt, Wicked Alliance, Dio and Badlands guitarist Jake E. Lee. This instrumental album contains possibly Jake E. Lee's finest playing! To me this is better than any of Satriani, Malmsteen and Vai's instrumental. Here's my review...
1.Exithouse- 10/10 One of my favorite instrumentals ever! A great intro to this song. A few great heavy melodic riffs with some great pinch harmonics. Jake's lead playing is execptional on this track. Jake adds some virtuoso shredding into this one that sounds like a mix of Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen and Zakk Wylde on there best days combined with Jake's own style of playing!
2.Demon A Go-Go- 10/10 A great instrumental that starts off with some great tasteful acoustic blues playing. The bass is very heavy in this song and Jake continues to shred away. Jake's shredding on this track is nothing short of virtuostic. Jake uses almost no distortion of the leads on this track too!
3.Soulfinger- 10/10 Once again a few great crunchy riffs on this song. Some more great bluesy lead playing with some more virtuoso shredding from Jake. His leads on this track actually surpass the leads on the first 2 songs!
4.Rapture- 10/10 An amazing song with execptional acoustic playing. Some more great riffs and some amazing acoustic shredding! The narration is kind of cool as it adds a scary feel to the music. Some more amazing leads as Jake uses a wah wah in part of the solo but than starts throwing in some amazing dives(he doesn't use a whammy bar either!) and some great shredding.
5.I Magnify- 10/10 This song starts off with a great intro with a lot of feedback in it. Some more awesome playing in this track too.
6.Velvet Fire- 10/10 An amazing soft instrumental with some great bluesy playing. A very beautiful song. This track has a great soulful wah wah solo from Jake too! Another great song.
7.Atomic Holidays- 8/10 A good instrumental with a weird narration. Jake's playing is great once again although Jake's solo is too late in the song as the first few minutes don't do much.
8.Galaxy Of Tears- 10/10 Another amazing instrumental from Jake. Jake shreds away once again on this track. Some great bends by Jake too. His playing on this track sounds like a mix of Yngwie, David Gilmour, Zakk Wylde and his own style. A psychedelic type of feel to this track.
9.Luna Gitana- 10/10 I'm giving it a 10 for what it is.....It's a 48 second acoustic instrumental. A nice song but far too short.
10.Bludfuk- 10/10 A great instrumental with a bunch of great riffs! Jake's solo is great too as he slows down on this solo but itfits the song perfect.
This is Jake's first solo album and the only instrumental album he's ever done. This is easily the best instrumental album I've ever heard and fans of Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen and instrumental hard rock in general will love this.

The Two Jakes.......2005-07-09
The nice thing about Jake doing this record away from the limelight is that he did this on his own terms. Excuse me, he did this on his own incredibly talented terms.
Fine Pink Mist is a sensasional work that only gets better with each listening.
With the demise of Badlands I was anxious for something from Jake, and this is the perfect fix (although it was a long time coming for me).
If you have the slightest interest in Jake's other work (Badlands and Ozzy (Bark at the Moon and Ultimate Sin)) this is a must for you. You won't be disappointed.
Very nice, very fresh and personal, more than great!.......2005-05-03
I admit that I picked this one up almost waiting to find just another album in the vein of Satch,Vai and the likes. Fortunately, I was completely wrong. This album is so great! It has few (if something) to do with Vai or Satch, and still has earned a very special place in my collection of CDs. I have to confess that I prefer it even to Jake's output with Badlands -- which to many here would be big words from my part. And if you only know about what Jake E. Lee did while with Ozzy you're just missing the best part of the movie: please check Badlands and, of course, this. Jake's bests are there!
First of all, "A Fine Pink Mist" is a breath of fresh air in the instrumental heavy metal guitar world. I wish more players had the talent and the freshness to keep themselves away from the "mainstream" trends imposed by Satch/Vai on one side, and by Yngwie Malmsteen on another. This is exactly what Jake E. Lee successfully does in this release: he stays away from those already-ultra-ripped-off tendencies while writing his own musical statements. Yes, "A Fine Pink Mist" is heavy enough to please metal fans. Yes, it has some aggressive moments. Yes, Jake E. Lee can shred if he wants... But no, he's not a copycat of the aforementioned guitarists. He's a talented axeman on his own that in my opinion has entered in the selected group of the greatest ever with this album.
From the opening track in "A Fine Pink Mist" to the last one Jake E. Lee demonstrates that he is a very sensible and creative musician. I give credit to every piece there: "Exithouse", for the nice groove; "Demon A Go-Go" for the bluesy and tender playing; "The Rapture", for the mood changes and the fantastic licks; "I Magnify", for the experimental and ethereal feeling it has; "Luna Gitana", for the excellent exploration on the acoustic guitar; "The Velvet Fire", for the explosiveness and the unpredictability; "Bludfuk", for the heavy riffing, weird noises and dark mood... hey, all of them are really great pieces!
On the bad side, if there's something to criticize it would be Jake's guitar tone -- well guys and gals, don't take me too much seriously now, because I'm a tone freak, ok? So, I think his tone is kind of muddy, often noisy and dirty; and somewhat "dry", thin and with sparse use of well-controlled finger vibrato in the leads. However, his music in this album is so amazing that for once I won't care about the guitar tone to give five stars to it. I understand after all that Lee has found his own voice, even if I don't like it that much. His personal signature is there, as well as the soul of a true artist. Hats off to him for this masterpiece! Again, five stars! A must for metal guitar fans, mostly if you're desesperate to listen to something really different. Go for it NOW! :-)
Master Rebel-Jake E. Lee.......2004-08-05
I have this excellent Instrumental CD A Fine Pink Mist-by Jake E. Lee (formerly of Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands fame) and it's an Electric Sci-fi Rock/Blues sultry Masterpiece. Jake E. Lee mastery fingerworks enraptures you in from take off to landing on an journey quest that you'll surely will remember and want more of, great Music! The "whole" CD of "A Fine Pink Mist" has an Cinematic sultry Galactic feel to it as "each-electric" song unfolds it's story..-this is an wonderful Heavy enrapturing Instrumental Debut by Jake E. Lee and hope that the Rebel Legend will do "more" Instrumentals as well as "finish" the CD Projects with Mandy Lion (WWIII fame) in Wicked Alliance and also his side Project with Bourgeois Pigs Co-Partners Richard Black and Michael Guy.
REALLY UNDERATED GUITAR PLAYER.......2002-09-22
What can i say, the guys got a lot of talent and in my opinion its really going to waste, but first lets talk about the album. Every song here is amazin,,,The Rapture is breath taking and Soul Finger is another fav of my mine. This album is worth any price because you cant go wrong with Mr.Lee. Its a real shame he dosent make albums anymore his talent is really going to waste and he is probably one greatest guitar players of all time. So please buy this album, you wont be disapointed...

great showcase of guitar wizardry and songwriting.......2003-05-17
If you like instrumental guitar records you'll dig this. It's a refreshing change from Vai and Satriani, both of whom are masters in their own right--but I find their music all starts to sound the same after a while. Perhaps if Jake had as many solo CD's as those guys, his music would all start to sound the same, too.
This album is all Jake E Lee, from the guitars to the bass to the drum programming. Once you get past the fact that it's a drum machine, these songs are fantastic. It's a fairly heavy record with a few lighter moments here and there. A Fine Pink Mist is much less bluesy than Jake's work in Badlands.
If you're a Jake fan, you should already have this. If you dig guitar-driven instrumental records, you should buy this. If you like Korn or Mudvayne, why are you even reading this?
