Just the thing for a metal addict like me!.......2007-05-14
I had this on cassette back in the day, but it decomposed with age and became un-playable. When I discovered it had been re-issued, I wasted no time in getting it. Now I can't listen to anything else! This CD is late 80's/early 90's metal that will make your brain bleed! All tracks are an eleven on a scale of one to ten, but for me, the stand-out tracks are "Back on the Bitch", "Switchblade Serenade", "Thru These Eyes", "Spread Eagle", "42nd Street", and "Shotgun Kiss". Ray West's voice is custom-made for high energy metal, and it really compliments the skull-crushing guitar work. I would describe their sound like this: Take one part Guns 'n Roses, one part AC/DC, two parts Accept, put it all in a blender and throw in a dash of Skid Row. Voila! Spread Eagle!
Spread Eagle Shreds.......2007-04-01
It's great to see this CD back out. A best-kept secret. Spread Eagle has an energy level and musical prowess matched only by bands like Van Halen and Megadeth. These guys are NOT kidding around. It's really heavy, but without being gloomy. Very few bands can shred this hard and still maintain a melodic, sexy feel to the music. One of my favorites! You gotta hear this!

Thanks Lovember Records for this Awesome reissue!!! This classic reissue is a great album and is exactly what one would expect from Spread Eagle. They deliver a hard rock album that stays true to their roots and offers up enough time changes to make everything sound fresh. Spread Eagle showed on this release how much talent they had, and it translated into huge commercial success.
Amazing Debut!.......2007-03-19
I can't believe this record has been reissued!! Thank God for the people at Lovember Records. The remastering on this cd blows the original away. Spread Eagle's debut is one of the best records I've ever heard. The guitar player shreds like the best of them, the singer has a very unique voice but most of all their songs are "real". They had everything a rock band should have: LOTS OF ATTITUDE!
The lyrics for "Thru These Eyes" are incredible. "Suzy Suicide" reminds me a bit of Motorhead. "Switchblade Serenade" use to get played on rock radio non-stop and MTV's Headbanger Ball. If you like your rock loud and raw then buy this record. You WON'T be disappointed.

raw,heavy, sleazy, this is the ultimate soundtrack for the backstreet, a filthy bar and some shady women. great underated album that you should own!
Lost Metal Gem.......2005-02-20
Really a 5 star album but have to give a 4 due to the poor production. I recently got lucky and found this in the used bin. Spread Eagle really is a poor-mans G'n'R but so unabashedly goes for it that their drive and enthusiasm put them on-par with any glammy metal outfit including G'n'R. I am familiar with many of such bands and this album ranks number one with me. Every song is good with some being better. Even the slow songs, slowly start to rock. It's like these guys can't help but rip solo's and bellow anthem after rock anthem. Sounding more from Hollywood, but from NY, Spread Eagle leaves it all on the line with pure attitude.. After such an effort Spread Eagle should have reached rock god-dom, and the band themselves were probably shocked they did not, but they went for it and here is the proof. This album desperately needs re-mastered. Since MCA is now defunct I think that might never happen so I re-mastered it myself, by edging out the hiss some and upping the overall volume with some needed EQ. If you know how I recommend doing so because the sloppy production is way to dirty and flat, and this album is so amazingly good the results of your efforts will pay off at your next party, because Spread Eagle is the ultimate party album.
THIS CD FU**IN ROX!!.......2003-12-05
If you love metal then this cd is a MUST! This is a very underrated band and album. Its way better than their 2nd album. Every song on this cd kicks A**!!! If you dig Faster pussycat and Skid Row then this is for you. Metal Rulz...

This group seems to have not made a BIG impact upon the Music world. So it's funy that I actualy enjoyed them sooo much! Their obvious musical talent, and rather good singing, made this album an easy listener! great electric guitar (lead), was well done, and very well executed. Great music, and great album altogether, check it out , and enjoy!(p.s. Hi, Roma Butram!) :)S.B.D.

i was thinking speadeagle finally had a new album out, but got this punk band that was terrble. almost all their songs are 2 minutes long, and the same beat..... this is not the spread eagle i grew up on.... does anybody have the first cd, i can't find it anywhere, and a guy is trying to sell it for $103.oo bucks on here....what the hell is that? i'd love to hear broken city, and switchblade syranade again... my brother lost mine years ago, and i can't find it anywhere........ somebody help me......
