Very good Album.......2007-06-08
I'll keep it short. This is a very good album but is not even close to the greatness that Tearing Down Your Blue Skies is. That is one of my fav. albums of all time. This album is a little more melodic and even contains a ballad with the last song. Some songs are still heavy though and this is a great album for more of an easy listen.
I don't want to see this world decay (3.5).......2007-05-21
Diecast is one of those bands that could be easily forgotten. Sure they have some extremely memorable choruses and riffs but more times than not you could actually forget what band you're listening to (coughKillswitchEngagecough). That being said, I'm actually surprised I like Internal Revolution as much as I do. Paul Stoddard has a great voice, both singing and screaming, but aside from one wonderful melodic chorus courtesy of Out Of Reach, I think he should stick to screaming. The band, on the other hand, often impresses with some intensely aggressive riffs throughout.
The one reason I don't like singing included in my metal very often is because it can completely ruin the pace a song has up until the singing comes in. Take Never Forget for instance, those verses are arguably the best on the entire disc but they're almost ruined by the lackluster chorus. Like I said, aside from Out Of Reach, and maybe The Coldest Rain, the singing doesn't serve the screaming any sort of justice.
If you can accept everything Diecast is, cliche or not, Internal Revolution serves as an enjoyable listen throughout. Fractured is a great all-around song with a truly anthemic chorus that is sure to be ingrained in your head days after hearing it. Weakness is one of the few songs that consists mainly screaming and proves to be one of the standouts because of it. Out Of Reach sports some frenzied drumming, but up until the stellar singing at about the midway point, that's the best part. Definition Of A Hero, even minus the sometimes overly sappy lyrics, is another standout thanks to a great riff throughout the verses and a surprisingly angry performance from Paul. The Coldest Rain rounds out the CD nicely with a ballad-esque tune. The climax is worth a listen alone but the excellent use of the piano surprises as well.
My favorite songs are Fractured, Weakness, Out Of Reach, Definition Of A Hero, and The Coldest Rain. Whether or not I continue to follow Diecast is a toss-up. They really are one of those bands that's hit and miss. Had they come out at a different time they'd surely have more relevence than they do now, but we'll see how they progress throughout their career.
AGGRESSIVE ROCK!!!.......2007-03-23
This album is the best! Extremely good! Some songs are sort of hard rock while others sound like metalcore. My favorites are "Never Forget", "S.O.S", "Weakness", and "Definition Of A Hero" (which are also the heaviest songs). "Out Of Reach" had the great drumming in it! "Fade Away" didn't sound that much of metal, sounded more like post-hardcore. "Hourglass", "Nothing I Could Say", and "The Coldest Rain" sounded like hard rock. GET THIS!!!
The album trivium wish they made instead of Crusade.......2007-03-11
This band got it right for creating good modern metal. Trivium's new album crusade failed in this respect since trivium lost their agression and just sold out to melody. This album has the right mix of aggression and melody. The guitar breakdowns are interesting, the vocals are very good another good mix of aggressive screamo and timely melodic chorus.
Best Yet!!.......2007-03-10
Make your own opinion about this cd. I have all the Diecast cds, this is definetely their best one yet!!

Better than Starbucks with a scoop of Crack!.......2007-03-25
I got into this album when I was still in the Marines. When I felt like getting into that violent mindset I needed for my day this album never failed to put me there. Can't recommend it enough!
Lovely...luh luh luh luh luh luh luh luh lovely.................2005-06-06
Suicidal Tendencies is one of those metal bands that I knew of when they were popular but I didn't really start listening to them until many years later. I was only familiar with some of their earlier hardcore-punk-type stuff, like 'Institutionalized'. A friend of mine started listening to them and slowly but surely, I really started to dig them too. This was the first album I bought, after listening to a few of them with my friend. I would say this is my favorite album by them.
If I could describe this era of Suicidal Tendencies, it reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers if they were a metal band! And this is probably why I never really liked the RHCP...because they're not metal!
'You Can't Bring Me Down' is an anthem for rising up above those who piss you off. It has a nice metal intro ala Metallica that starts slow and builds to an onslaught. I've heard people complain that this is 'comemrcial' ST, whereas I believe they had not fully matured or developed when they reached this point. This album could be considered 'over-produced' when compared to their earlier music, but I never would have really gotten into them if they never advanced to this level.
When I say the music sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers, for example in 'Lost Again,' there's a part at the end that goes "Something's gone wrong with me/I guess I got lost in reality," and all I can picture is the singer of RHCP and then after the vocals the guitars play a fast rhythm that matches the previous melody. We also hear some of this on 'Lovely' - there's something really enjoyable about "Lovely...luh luh luh luh luh luh lovely." or "I feel lovely/la la la lovely ow how."
I'm also not one to appreciate lyrics too much, but these guys write some really great stuff. They deal with realistic themes such as hate, fear, depression, anxiety, stress, even the ridiculousness of televangelists in 'Send Me Your Money': "Here comes another con hiding behind a collar/His only god is the almighty dollar/he aint no prophet, he aint no healer/he's just a two bit goddamn money stealer."
This cd is really all over the place, and individual songs even vary greatly from softness to heaviness within themselves. This is one of those albums where I never skip over any of the songs. The lyrics are meaningful and applicable to most real people, and you'll learn all the songs quick and you'll sing them to yourself all day long.
To those new to Suicidal Tendencies, I would recommend you buy this album or ART OF REBELLION. Both of them are great places to start.
I Feel Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-02-18
Suicidal Tendencies are on of my all time favorite bands and their album Lights...Camera...Revolution is their greatest. This album is recomended to anyone who wants kick-ass "cheerful metal." Highlights on this album are "Lovely" "Discos Out Murders In" and "Give It Revolution".
When your emotion gets the best of you.......2004-05-02
Everyone wants to control your life. Everyone tells you what to do and how to live. This is the album that breaks all the rules and fights hard to destroy the opposition. When life's problems are too much to aborb there's always one band to tune to: Suicidal Tendencies. Powerful up front lyrics, powerful guitars and sections of interludes that makes you free.
A dying flame........2004-04-27
It was interesting reading all of the opinions on this album.I'm probably some where in the middle.I love ST ,I've been listining to them about 16 years.Plain and simple, ST's first 3 albums are the best.In order 1.self title + How WILL I LAUGH...
(can't decide) 2.Join The Army. That's were rating this album comes in.I've been spoiled listening to those 3 great albums,so obviously this album doesn't cut it!When I hear this album the chemistry is just not there as it once was.Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing this album completely.I rather listen to this album over 90% of rock that comes out today.Stand out tracks are ALONE(very good),YOU cant bring me down(good),and the rest of the songs are just okay. With the exception of one song,SEND ME YOUR MONEY(WHAT THE F#@! WERE THEY SMOKING),horrible song.If people want to rate this album, compare it to the best first.p.s It's good to hear new ST,CHECK OUT FREEDUMB,NOT THE MOST O.G OR POLISH ALBUM BUT THE BOYS ARE HAVING FUN AGAIN.

Heavy rock kills the subtletiesof the Fab 4.......2007-07-12
An interesting idea of largely stadium style hard rock 1980s and 1990s covers of the Beatles songs. The problem is that many just destroy the lighter touch that made the originals such great pop songs in the process, either being live (Cheap Trick and Heart) or just lacking in the energy of the originals despite a heavier sound (Jeff Healey and Thompson Twins).
The real gem is the 1967 recording by Harry Nilsson of a song cycle based around "You can't do that" - evidence of his great singing and why John Lennon rated him so highly as a vocalist - a performance that is at odds with the rest of the offerings on show here.
I'll Be Back.......2007-02-21
Yet another Beatles cover disc, but this one doesn't suck! I got this because I used to have a 10 inch EP by Cheap Trick, which had Day Tripper on it. I just didn't remember it being live and I can't find the record, so, hence, I bought this CD. Even live Cheap Trick drives this song home. It's from the era where Cheap Trick were Gods and could do no wrong; they prove it with this track! There is only one track on this release that I don't like and that is Eleanor Rigby by Kansas. A surprize tune that is exceptional is Harry Nilsson's You Can't Do That. He blends several Beatles songs together into this track and its mesmerizing. Golden earring, Heart, the Hooters, Thompson Twins, Mahoghany Rush, and Blood, Sweat & Tears all add their mark to the glorious machine that was the Beatles. At this price, you will enjoy the CD if you like the Beatles or any of the bands with tracks here. If you want something harder I would suggest "Butchering the Beatles", which features hard rock bands doing great renditions of the Fab Four.

Worth Owning For Shooting Shark Alone.......2006-10-18
Through the mid-70 and 80's BOC had enjoyed a huge surge in popularity riding the wave of their two biggest selling albums "Agents Of Fortune" and the studio album immediately before this one "Fire Of Unknown Origin". On a commercial level "Revolution" is where BOC started to hit the skids. The single "Take Me Away", a tale of voluntary alien abduction got some airplay on AOR radio and one of my all time favorite BOC songs "Shooting Shark" also got some limited airplay, but other than that the album was a big let down sales wise from their previous effort. I saw them on this tour playing a 5,000 seat arena with only about 1000 people there. It was a great show, but the band had to be bummed at the turnout. The first studio lineup change is evident here as well as Albert Bouchard is no longer in the band (although his brother Joe remains), with the drum seat being filled by former drum tech Brian Downey. Downey's style is definitely different than Bouchard and sounds like he is using an electric kit for much of this release which some people don't care for, but I think it sounds kind of cool. I find it interesting when reading other people's reviews of this album that the opinions seem to be all over the place. Even in the songs, one person's favorite is another person's crap. As for myself, overall I like this album. "Shooting Shark" is one of the best tunes Buck ever wrote IMO. "Take Me Away", "Eyes On Fire", "Veins", "Shadow Of California" and "Dragon Lady" are all good too. There are some low points too. "Let Go" sounds like they deliberately tried to write an "anthem" that they could use in concert to garner audience participation. It just comes across as stupid to me. Also, the album closer "Light Years Of Love" has to be one of the worst songs BOC ever recorded. Joe Bouchard writes and sings it......he should leave the songwriting to the other guys.
Some great songs, some bad songs........2006-03-21
I'm no kid, just didn't want to create an account. At this point, 1983, B.O.C. was putting out their first studio record in 2 years, new drummer Rick Downey was in, original drummer & songwriter Albert Bouchard -out. On RBN, Bruce Fairbarn's (Loverboy, Aerosmith) production was too slick, very 80's, and a bit dated in spots. But overall, there are some real gems here. The two best tracks are "Take Me Away", which features some guitar from guest Aldo Nova, and a killer vocal from Eric Bloom. Then we get the ultra-cool "Shooting Shark", with lyrics by Patti Smith, and a great melodic vocal from Buck Dharma, this tune had session man/"American Idol" judge Randy Jackson on the "slap" bass. From there, it's spotty. "Eyes On Fire" is way too corny, and sounds like a bad Billy Joel outtake, not good at all. "Veins" has a cool and interesting Richard Meltzer lyric/storyline but the music is all mucked-up with electronic drums,(dated) and dopey synth effects - same goes for "Shadow Of California". After the misfire "Shadow", we get Eric Bloom's "Feel The Thunder"- not bad, but not great either. "Let Go" is totally stupid, but in an odd straight-rock-anthem way, is a lotta fun, and makes you laugh. "Dragon Lady"(co-written by Blotto !) comes off bland-although The Tubes may have done well with it...Don't listen to other folks who don't get "Light Years Of Love", it's a classic ballad sung by bassist Joe Bouchard, with lyrics by Helen Wheels. This song is one of Joe's best, it's soaring melody, beautiful wordplay, and imagery will take you into the outer limits...the 5th dimension, where the speed of light between 2 hearts collide. Dig it. Hoagie out. BOC rocks- On Tour Forever!
Blue Oyster Cult circa 1983.....3.5 stars.......2005-12-21
1983 represented changing times for Blue Oyster Cult. Based on all the other reviews, it is safe to say this is the most hated Cult collection. Why? IMHO, it is no worse than "Club Ninja". Both attempted to take the band to new places, and to look back almost 25 years later, ultimately both failed to achieve what they set out to do. While "Club Ninja" had it's own problems, "Revolution by Night" suffered from the common affliction of 80's style overproduction and somewhat poor songwriting. That's not to say the CD is not worth buying....there are still some great songs to choose from. I really liked RBN when it was first released back in '83, and the opening song "Take Me Away" was as strong an opener then as it is now with it's guitar jams and great vocal. "Take Me Away" remains to this day a classic in every sense, and is easily one of the best BOC songs in their entire catalog. But BOC takes a wrong turn when they try to be too radio friendly, and as a result, songs such as "Eyes on Fire" become stale quickly. While the song was as fresh & new as any in 1983-1984, today sounds limp and much too pop oriented for the same band that created "7 Screaming Diz-Busters" a decade earlier. The mellow "Shooting Shark", complete with MTV video and sax solos, impresses the senses with its gorgeous vocal and chorus and was sufficiently wierd for BOC at the time, but lacked energy and overstays it's welcome just a bit. The next song, "Veins" delivers the punch, and aside from "Take Me Away", is one of the best songs on this collection. Featuring Rick Downey's awsome drumming, "Veins" keeps the listener on edge, and is pure aural delight. "Shadow of California" immediately continues in this tradition, keeping even the most rabid of BOC fans sufficiently at bay. "Feel the Thunder" may appeal to some, and conjures up Halloween-style comic book imagery of three doomed riders "clutched on American steel....., Riders with no name". I usually enjoy this song, although I would have preferred more power/crunch/speed to aptly relay the story of bikers riding American steel. Sadly, the rest of the CD is littered with poor melodies and songwriting. "Dragon Lady" is filler material, and although "Let Go" features an energetic beat, it is nothing more than shameless pandering to the masses and Columbia with its embarassing juvenile chorus. Finally, the album concludes with a nice Joe Bouchard contribution called "Light Years of Love". This song features some nice mandolin work which is complemented by a very likeable keyboard line, but suffers from poor lyrics and questionable vocals. All and all, this collection was a mediocre offering, but then again, right in line with what was being offered everywhere else circa 1983. Although production values back then were a bit over the top, I sometimes miss the attention to detail and effort in making everything sound perfect. If you are fond of 80's style music, you may very well want to pick this up, and you may even really like some of the songs.
One of BOC's Best -- But Not Presented Well.......2005-10-26
BOC have put out a lot of albums over the years -- many were OK, a handful were great. This is one of the great ones. This is one of BOC's pop-ish albums; it's not a headbanger like The Red & The Black, or Imaginos. I think it's a much better match for Agents of Fortune, in terms of style.
The great cover art (arguably the best cover of any BOC release) sets a perfect tone for the music. The first track, Take Me Away, is a hard rocker that got a fair bit of airplay back in the day, at least where I live. The rest of the tracks vary in style (Light Years of Love is quite mellow), but they all have a fairly cohesive sound, and the dash of darkness and mystery that one expects from BOC.
Now the bad news. . . The cover art has been mangled on this CD release, and the music is suffering too. It has one of those atrocious early CD mastering jobs that makes everything sound painfully harsh and thin. It's a crying shame, and it's the reason why I don't give this CD five stars. The LP was 100% better, trust me! I hope someday we'll get a remastered CD release. Until that day comes, you can turn up your bass, turn down your treble way down, and it'll sound . . . somewhat better. Despite the CD's problems, The Revolution By Night is still a must for every real BOC fan.
Should be less than 1 star.......2005-02-01
A friend broght this CD to work for us to listen to as a joke and believe me it is a joke. It came out about the same time as "This is Spinal Tap" and it is just as bad, except BOC was serious! It is one of the worst combinations of 80's glam-hair pop-metal I have heard. Think of the review of "Smell the Glove" ("---- sandwich").

Metal with a hispanic twist.......2007-04-13
Don't worry, the vocals aren't all in Spanish, but he does throw in some lines here and there, but the effect is actually good. The sound has elements of hispanic music mixed with a traditional nu-metal approach. This album is by far their best, and rocks pretty hard, with screaming and melodic singing. Christian, the singer, has a good voice and sets this band apart from most nu-metal acts. These guys are probably not for everyone, but if you like to try some different sounding metal, you should check them out.
Rip out your eyes and just use your ears!.......2007-01-25
One of the greatest debut's in nu-metal music, `Revolution Revolucion' is 13 tracks of ear-splitting head-banging good fun. Starting off on the right foot with `God Save Us' and ending on the softer note of `With You', Ill Nino perfectly concocted a fantastic studio effort here. Some of the better songs include the opener as well as brutal tracks like `If You Still Hate Me', `Liar' and `No Murder' as well as the rap influenced `I Am Loco' and the popular single `What Comes Around' (which was immortalized when a brilliant remix was released on the `Resident Evil' soundtrack). With heavy Latin influence and pure talent, not to mention a screaming voice that could wake the dead, this band will stand on this album alone. While their albums proceeding this one have left me a bit cold, as in they just aren't what they could have been, Ill Nino still hasn't sacrificed their talent and originality. Sure to make any fan of nu-metal happy, this is an album worthy of plenty of repeat listenings!
Half good, half...not so much.......2006-08-22
I won't go into a song by song review, simply because there isn't enough good material to do so, but tracks 1,3,5,8,10,12 and 13 are all worth a listen. The rest are throwaway. I've enjoyed both of nino's latest records from start to finish, but revolution simply isn't a solid listen.
"The gods want something".......2006-05-30
I'm mainly into metal from the `80s and have very few albums from the `00s, but this CD cover caught my eye in a record store a few months back. It reminded me of the mummified corpses and skeletons on display during Mexico's Day of the Dead. I discovered that Ill Nino is a Latino metal band, so this made sense. I popped it into the listening station and was blown away. There is so much depth and so many styles to their music. At times it is angry death metal with bellowing vocals. At other times it is very melodic and pleasant, almost mainstream. Then they throw in some Spanish lyrics and Latin rhythms. The same tracks can urge the listener to hum and sing along and then cause the pulse to rise and the fists to clench. I'm not a fan of Death Metal or Latin music, but the combination with heavy rock melodies just seems to work. This CD finds its way in my player a lot!
"God Save Us": Has a Korn-like opening with a melodic, sing-along break in between, a beautiful guitar piece, then explodes again.
"If You Still Hate": There is more of a Latino sound here and, during its death metal parts, is even angrier than the opening: "I wish you dead!!!!"
"Unreal": Awesome! Very catchy with great vocals. When the guitar kicks in with the second verse of the chorus, it's a killer ride! Not as much screaming on this one so it's more accessible.
"Nothing's Clear": More Latin sound here (Latin guitar) plus more Spanish lyrics at the bridge. Another of my favorites. More harsh than "Unreal" but has accessible, catchy parts.
"What Comes Around": I love the chorus to this one--"I have nothing to say, but I feel like my mouth is open." Rap-like verse with Latin part as well.
"Liar": Wow, all kinds of stuff going on here. Storming drums with a very catchy part at "You say things would be the same." Harsh, Korn-like at times with angry rap-like verses and even record-scratching.
"Rumba": Another stand-out. Dominated by the quote: "The gods want something."
"Predisposed": another favorite of mine. Not as catchy and memorable but still an accessible song that's not too noisy. I like the calm guitar interlude.
"I Am Loco": Angry, furious lyrics with record-scratching. Harsh yet still melodic. Lots of stuff going on here.
"No Murder": Explodes with perhaps the angriest, heaviest stuff on the album. In contrast, the chorus is very catchy and one of my favorite parts on the CD. It even harmonizes. Both beautiful and ugly to the point of blood-curdling.
"Rip Out Your Eyes": Not as memorable save for the gut-wrenching bellowing of the title.
"Revolution/Revolucion": Now this one is very memorable. The chorus is awesome! My second favorite behind "Unreal." Then exploding with "Revolucion!!!" at the end.
"With You": Latin-flavor love song. All right. Nothing special. They should stick to their "Deathmex" stuff.
You gotta love it.......2005-09-14
Something about this band i mean they are damn good. Great vocals, lyrics and sound and everything else that you need to figure out yourself by buying this album. This is an up and rising band that doesn't get enough credit. This album is really impressive and an easy addition to my hardcore collection.

slaughter get caught in the desert .......2005-11-27
slaughter the 80's metal band who had a few hits with "fly to the angels" i think mark slaughter has a great voice and don't just think that their from the 80's that there gonna be another corny metal band because they're not they had music with influences from the beatles to led zeppelin with a dash of the cream in there just to make a impact
from the front cover the phscycdelic picture of slaughter really makes images of what you think this album may sound like and mostly i was right
spacey and rocky,
highlights include
american pie, heaven it cries, tongue n groove
cN WE find a way, you're my everything
not great but still good album from slaughter
Slaughter - 'Revolution' (CMC International).......2005-04-11
I've never been like the biggest Slaughter fan,but I've always liked their music to some degree.'Revolution' is their fifth CD and it really isn't bad.Former Vinnie Vincent Invasion vocalist Mark Slaughter and crew are apparently still into creating an almost 'Beatle-esque' sound like they did on their previous release 'Fear No Evil'.The Beatles weren't Slaughter's only infuence, listen to the Zeppelin-like "Heaven It Cries".Other well penned tunes include "I'm Gone","Heat Of The Moment","Tongue 'N Groove" and their cover of Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way".Not a bad find.
Great Slaughter effort in the 90s.......2005-02-21
The rock band, Slaughter, exploded into the rock world in 1990 with their debut album, Stick It To Ya, rocketing the band into platinum status. With a successful tour notched under their belt and legions of fans following their every move, they soon released their highly underrated sophomore album, The Wild Life, in the year of 1992. By then, the music scene was slowly changing, and it appeared that the world found out about Slaughter a little too late.
Regardless, Slaughter still had a loyal following and a stubborn attitude. Refusing to give into passing trends, they released their third effort, Fear No Evil, which was released in 1995. A fine piece of work, but not quite as dexterous as their previous efforts, it didn't sell as many numbers on the charts. Nevertheless, the band trudged on, touring endlessly for a year or two.
Slaughter fans never gave in, and neither did the band, surviving the shifts of wind in the music climate like experienced sailors. They defied the "follow me" tendency and stuck to writing and playing the kind of music THEY wanted, playing where THEY wanted, and being true to who THEY were.
1997 may prove to be a very exciting year for Slaughter. Their most recent effort, Revolution, shows growth and maturity, and provides a challenge to the ear that's both pleasing and exhilarating.
1. American Pie: Full of flavorful groove and sound. The lyrics are simple and uncomplicated, setting the album up for its somewhat retro atmosphere. Very cool and laid back, this song will have you tapping your foot at the very least. Highly likable and infectious.
2. Heaven It Cries: A powerful rocker with heavy drum beats and rhythmic guitars, this song reeks of the bands' Zeppelin influence, combined with it's own brand of Slaughter. The lyrics are thought-provoking and meaningful, painting a conversation between man and God. This song is, without a doubt, a winner.
3. Tongue In Groove: This song gets lost in the shuffle with the rest on the album. The beat is typical and rocking, with nothing extraordinary about it. The lyrics are to the point of silly. Compared to the other material on the album, this one doesn't stand on its own.
4. Can We Find A Way: The beginning starts out as smooth as a Milky Way bar, rich as cheesecake, and way groovy man, then kicks into a hooky chorus. The lyrics reflect peace, love and harmony. This one is extremely likable -- very Slaughter -- with a twist of tranquil instrumentation that blends nicely.
5. Stuck On You: Lyrically, this song is whimsical, cute, and all-out fun. Mark's vocals are sarcastic, with hollow and distorted sound effects, making this song a bit unique in approach. If you don't find yourself liking this one, you need to go clean your ears out.
6. Hard To Say Good-bye: A ballad about leaving your loved ones behind, this song is very meaningful. Musically, it's a melodic ballad, but a bit different than some of their previous ballads. Not as poppy as some of their earlier ones, this one hearkens to a more classic-sounding rock ballad. This one shines with a magic all its own.
7. Revolution: This title track is sure to become THE Slaughter anthem. A high-octane rocker chocked full of raw energy, this is sure to be a crowd-pleaser in concert.
8. Guck: A nice, short instrumental that sequels into the song that follows, it shows the diversity of this band. Slaugther has, in the past, included several instrumentals on their previous efforts, showcasing the fact that they can play different types of music.
9. In The Heat Of The Moment: With a pulsing, sexy beat, and lyrics that are sung with dripping sensuality, this gem of a tune is one of the best on the album. If this one doesn't get your heart racing, you'd better check to see if you have a pulse.
10. Rocky Mountain Way: A Joe Walsh cover tune, this one is rockin' n' rollin' all over the place with some ultra-jamming guitars, soaring lyrics, a way-cool voice box, and a throbbing, sexy drum beat -- this is one party of a song!! If this one doesn't have you sweating and moving your pelvis to the beat, you must be dead.
11. You're My Everything: Beautifully penned words, surrounded by engaging keyboards and guitars with a happy feel, this one is going to be a favorite for many.
12. I'm Gone: Fast and furious, this one rocks, though a bit reminiscent of Loaded Gun from Stick It To Ya. Welcome to Love Songs, Bay-bee!!!
13. Ad-Mojoem-Dei-Gloriam: A bit of a different-sounding instrumental with it's tribal flavor. The question is, why was it used to close the album? An album as awesome as this should have gone out with a bang.
As an added bonus, and in light of the computer generation, drummer Blas Elias did a superb job in putting together a free multi-media CD-ROM program, which includes some pictures of the band throughout their career, disc information, fan club information, lyrics, and four video clips. For those who actually own a computer that accepts this free media, this is an enjoyable little nugget.
Overall, Slaughter put out one kickin' rock n' roll album. This gem of ear-candy seems almost worth the toil of searching high and low from store to store on its release date to locate it. The Nay-sayers of the Grunge Generation (or whatever generation we may be in at present), may cackle when the word Slaughter rolls off the tongues of their cheer-leading squad, but cackle all you wish. Slaughter is here (and, in fact, has never left). Whatever preconceived notions you may have about them, if you don't give a listen to Revolution, you just may be missing out on some seriously kewl music. They're back with a vengeance and here to stay, and if you don't like it, you're going to have a few fingers pointing your way.

Wow! This is a great album!.......2004-11-06
The Slaughter album "Revolution" is a great album. This is the third best album Slaughter has ever released, first being "The Wild Life" and second being "Stick It To Ya", the first Slaughter album. There is not a weak moment on this CD. It is an absolutely brilliant album. Here is a rundown of every track:
"American Pie"- A funny song, a good way to open an album. This is not the Don McLean version that was released in the 70's, it is totally it's own song with the same title as another song, so be prepared.
"Heaven It Cries"- A great song. Definitely a step-up from other songs Slaughter has written and recorded before. This one would have sounded great on a KISS, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, or even a Metallica album.
"Tongue in Groove"- Not one of the best songs on the whole album, but this one is a cool song.
"Can We Find A Way"- A very pretty ballad. Very Beatleish. It is absolutely hard not to like this song.
"Stuck On You"- This track is very catchy, and it is similiar to other Slaughter songs such as "Mad About You" and "She Wants More". If you ever run in to someone who calls Slaughter an "old school" band, play them this track. It will make them think twice.
"Hard To Say Good-Bye"- A great song, anyone who enjoyed the Slaughter classic "Days Gone By" will love this song.
"Revolution"- When I listen to this track, it reminds me of an 80's heavy metal Japanese rock group who called themselves E-Z-O. Great lyrics, great singing, great guitar work from Tim Kelly, and pretty much a great song.
"Guck"- A short instrumental which proves that Slaughter is very good at instrumentals.
"In The Heat Of The Moment"- As already mentioned, I don't know if this song deserves to be called a "ballad", but it is very catchy and can very easily get you in the mood. This is one of Slaughter's strongest songs, and I find it very dissapointing that this song was never released as a single.
"Rocky Mountain Way"- For one of Slaughter's cover songs(this was originally a Joe Walsh song) they did a very good job.
"You're My Everything"- One of Slaughter's most underrated songs. This song should have had a lot of success.
"I'm Gone"- Another funny song. Mark Slaughter did a really good job singing this song, and while this track sounded great on this album, it would have also sounded great on one of Slaughter's earlier albums or, possibly, Ace Frehley's self-titled 1978 solo album.
"Ad-Majorem-Vei-Gloriam"- For the first time, Slaughter records an instrumental that, while it is a song from America, it sounds like a song from India.
"Revolution" is an album any Slaughter fan will enjoy, especially fans of Tim Kelly. Sadly, as a result of Kelly's untimely 1998 death in a car accident, this was the last Slaughter studio album Kelly would get to play on, the last out of all Slaughter albums being the 1998 live classic "Eternal Live". Tim, we all miss you.
Great CD.......2003-12-17
The title of this review may be less than catchy, but the music speaks for itself on this album.
Slaughter didn't really go for an alternative 90s turn here like most bands, but they add a few dimensions to thier earlier albums like psychedelic sunday-like grooves and a variety of new instruments. It works well.
Vocalist Mark Slaughter doesn't use his patented nasal wail of a voice here as often, which helps fit into this generally more somber and moodier CD. He still belts of a few voicebox breakers, but for the most part he has subdued himself a bit, and again it works.
The CD's weakest point would have to be a constant lack of real rocking material. I would have liked to have heard more songs like the title track and "I'm Gone". "Can We Find A Way" is one ballad too many to go along with the greater tracks like "You're My Everything" which is just beautiful, and "Hard To Say Goodbye". You can imagine yourself singing these tracks to someone. "Stuck on You" represents the other bulk of filler in this album, but beyond that, this CD is one of the very best and in a decade not so kind to good rock n' roll. A must buy! 10/13

All I Can Say Is "WOW"!!!.......2006-02-20
I guess i am a little bit behind in the times, I just bought this album yesterday after hearing people tell me how great it is and of course it's links to a great band called Far. This album is amazing, I wish I bought it sooner. Every song on it is well written and great. The guitars are crunchy and the vocals are clean. They have a sound somewhere between Foo Fighters and Staind...But they are in no way just another mainstream rock act. "Above The Noise" has it's crushing moments of anger, "Bonethrower" and "The Ride Of Los Angeles" and it's slow jams "The Gift" and "Looking Down The Barrel". This record is a must have for fans of meaty, guitar driven hard rock. I just hope they put out another album. The best songs "Bonethrower", "The Gift" and "Payday". Check this album out and the band Far, if you can find them.
Insta-Classic.......2005-08-22
I recommend buying this for the hard rock tracks only. Great testosterone driven grunge dabbing in the arts of metal occasionally on this one. However, on the slower tracks like Payday, Looking Down The Barrel, etc.. It seems they overproduced and made it crappy. Find the demo versions of these songs to download (its incredible how much better the demo of payday is) along with some rarities like New Light, Come Together and make urself the perfect rock mixer cd.
Something Fresh To Listen Too.......2005-04-26
I admire this CD because it sounds like Nu-Metal but it doesnt Suck Ass like Nu-Metal the singer has a perfect voice for the music it matches it perfectly........the guitar work is Nu-Metal with a unique splash to it....somewhere along the way you will notice a guitar riff here and there.........anyways get this album because its better than the cover puts it out to be.......my favorite songs are (Payday) and (Future of an end)
Above Average performance of Average Music.......2005-03-17
I bought this album used, which is the way I think it should be bought. It isn't worth more then five bucks in all. I don't mean that overly negatively, it's just that this album doesn't have the umph it takes to make me fork over more then pocket change. I think the best way to sum up the sound of the Revolution Smile is if you were to take Josey Scott from Saliva doing one of their more mellow songs, on stage with Filter. Make any sense? How about this, if you are a fan of the Filter progression of things, meaning sweet vocals over acoustic guitar that blends into heavy yelling over distortion. In fact, now that I think about it, this album really does sound like a Filter album...huh? Anyways, there really aren't any standout tracks I can point you towards, "Cadilliac Ass" is cool and "Alien" ain't bad. Of course you'll want to sample the single "bonethrower" before you buy this used. If you want to understand why I keep comparing them to Filter listen to "I wish I" that about sums it up. Listen, if this sounds interesting or you like one of the samples, buy it used for a couple bucks, just be prepared to listen to it for a week and then lose it.
worthy.......2004-05-22
The old saying "never judge a book by its cover", really hits home on this CD. The name of the band and CD pics do not apply to whats inside. I thought it would be LOUD-ANGRY-HATE music. WRONG! Its not.. nowhere near that.
After hearing this CD 3 times, it is definitely one that I will go back to again and again. Musically, it wont break any barriers, but the way they mix up the tempo between songs helps make the music seem less like every other cookie cutter CD out there. It may not appeal to everyone out there, but IMHO there are at least 8 very good songs on the CD. The rest are somewhere in the filler range, but they dont suck either.

Album Description
In the sixteenth year of their career, Kreator continue to assert their long-standing position as spearheads of the German thrash metal scene. Kreator aren't what you'd call a purely German phenomenon, they are a prime Teutonic export article with an impressive track record of over one million albums sold worldwide, their touring history includes seven tours in the US ! After a temporary foray into more melodic fields, band mastermind Mille Petroz and his recently restructured group present an up-dated version of their metallic origins on their new album Violent Revolution: thrash metal, forged with as much precision as you can get in 2001. The tracks on Violent Revolution sound like the album title: unyielding, rigorous, and powerful.
Customer Reviews:
Lets start a Ghetto War! .......2007-05-18
Ghetto war and Violent revolution are among the best Kreator songs ever. Very decent album but I still prefer classics like Coma of Souls and Pleasure to Kill.
Kreator's Only Solution: Violent Revolution .......2007-03-14
Kreator are without a shadow of a doubt one of the most influential and greatest thrash metal bands of all time, and they're also the best metal band to ever emerge from Germany in my book. They're also one of my all time favorite metal bands now. Their 2001 masterpiece "Violent Revolution" which is one of Kretor's best albums is nothing short of world class thrash metal brilliance, and I just can't praise this album enough. Every song on here is absolutely incredible and they all have an anthem like feel to them. Mille Petrozza's vocals are harsh and just flat out aggressive throughout, and he's also an awesome guitarist as well. Second guitarist Sami Yli Sirnio is awesome as well. Their dualing riffs are like a razor blade tearing right through your bare skin, the leads and solos are very melodic and eye popping they will definately make your face melt and bring tears of joy to your eyes as well. Christian Giesler has good bass lines that you can hear, and Ventor's awesome double bass drumming is just fast, vicious, and out of this world. The opening track "Reconquering the Throne" is one of the fastest, most aggressive, yet melodic songs on here, I mean the guitarwork and the drumming is just great. The title cut "Violent Revolution" is another catchy headbanger with some of the coolest lyrics ever written. Example: "Society failed to tolerate me, and I have failed to tolerate society. I mean how could you not like the lyics to that song. Other favorite songs on here include "All of the Same Blood", "Servant in Heaven - King in Hell", "Second Awakening", "Ghetto War" (which has some great face melting guitar leads), "Replicas of Life (this song really bring tears to my eyes whenever I listen to it) "Slave Machinery", "Bitter Sweet Revenge", and "System Decay". Please read on for my song ratings.
Jeremy's song ratings:
1. Reconquering the Throne (4:12) - 5/5
2. The Patriarch (0:52) - 4/5
3. Violent Revolution (4:54) - 5/5
4. All of the Same Blood (6:12) - 5/5
5. Servant in Heaven - King in Hell (5:07) - 5/5
6. Second Awakening (4:47) - 5/5
7. Ghetto War (5:02) - 5/5
8. Replicas of Life (7:31) - 5/5
9. Slave Machinery (3:55) - 5/5
10. Bitter Sweet Revenge (5:22) - 5/5
11. Mind on Fire (3:56) - 5/5
12. System Decay (4:34) - 5/5
Well there you have it. If your're a fan of Kreator, thrash metal, heavy metal, or if you just like good music in general like I do on a normal basis, you'll definately love this album man. THIS IS KREATOR, THIS IS VIOLENT REVOLUTION!! Enjoy.
One of the best thrash metal bands, quite possibly the best thrash metal album of 2001........2006-12-31
Usually one of the most common things I ask myself when I hear a band like Kreator is, "Why didn't I start listening to these guys easlier?" These guys are so under the radar, I had never seen or heard of them until 2003 when Headbanger's Ball returned, and started showing the live video for Phobia. I didn't even start listening to them until this year when I bought Enemy Of God Revisited. One of the things that I admire about Kreator is their unwillingness to go mainstream, even during their experimental period through most of the 90's which left a lot of fans losing faith in the band. Outcast was good, but after listening to Cause For Conflict, I didn't bother with Renewal or Endorama. In 2001, they opted to return to their thrash sound, hiring producer Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Napalm Death, Skinlab), bringing back to life the sound from early albums Pleasure To Kill, Terrible Certainty, Extreme Aggression, and Coma Of Souls. Of course, I can't stress enough....you bring Andy Sneap into the equation, the results are usually gonna be good. This album has everything the casual Kreator fan wants to hear and them some. They've managed to keep good interest with Violent Revolution, as well as Live Kreation and Enemy Of God. Here's to hoping that they start working on the next album.
This time the ratings don't lie.......2006-07-24
BEWARE - If you do not like the vocals from Accept/Udo, then you will not like this cd as there is a very similar resemblance.
When I saw this cd I was not impressed with my vinyl Pleasure to Kill and my cassette, Coma of Souls.
When I looked at the ratings given here, the lowest was 4 stars with a large number of reviews. This time the ratings don't lie.
While it's close, I can't give it a 5 because it is not with Mettalica's Master of Puppets or Testament's The Gathering/ Practice what you Preach, Megadeth's Rust in Peace, Slayer's Reign in Blood/South of Heaven/Seasons in the Abyss - some of the best thrash metal ever.
What really impressed me is the drumming which is a killer, in a league with Dave Lombardo and the German power metallers.
When this guy actually sings for a few bars (many metal vocals are used for another tonal instrument), it is very good. He should consider doing this more often, maybe Kreator could become the trash metal equivilant of Opeth
Only those who do not like the vocals from Accept/Udo will not be impressed with this recording
One of Kreator's best albums........2006-07-20
Kreator is my second favorite band ever (Slayer is #1), and this is one of their best records. In a world dominated by s***ty nu-metal bands like Slipknot and Mudvayne, Kreator offers REAL thrash. Kreator has never let up in their carreer, and never sold out, unlike *cough* Metallica *cough*, and this album prooves it all.
Every song on here is pure thrash greatness, but the best of them have to be "Reconquering the Throne," "Violent Revolution," "All of the Same Blood," "Servant in Heaven-King in Hell," "Second Awakening," and "System Decay." "Violent Revolution" cas very catchy but heavy riffs, and some of the coolest lyrics I've ever heard; "Society failed to tolerate me, and I've failed to tolerate society...my only hope, my only solution is a VIOLENT REVOLUTION!!"
Best album of 2001 by far; forget about "Toxicity" by an infamously overrated and horrible band (I think you know who it is).
Long live Kreator!!
