5 out of 5 stars kick ass album.......2004-03-04

This album rocks! GET IT!! It may only have 3 different songs on it but they are all awesome. The remixes kick ass!

5 out of 5 stars Rammstein - Gods of music.......2003-12-11

Rammstein is one of the best bands ever. Not only do they sound great on CD they sound bloody awesome live! Some bands sound horrible when they perform live. Rammstein is an experience no one should live without. From the moment the CD starts, it takes over and makes you want to jump. If you like this CD you might also look into the base album it came off of: Mutter. Rammstein's other albums include Herzeleid and Sehnsucht; both masterful combinations of Techno, Heavy Metal, Industrial and Classical music. Truly perfect.

4 out of 5 stars Number fiveýBANG! BANG!.......2003-02-01

Some time ago, when the MUTTER CD single came out, I totally had no inklings that Rammstein would release a fifth single off of the respective MUTTER album! Then again, the fact that the song "Feuer Frei!" appeared in the recent action flick "Triple X" explains a lot. The single's artwork is a different theme from that of the previous four singles - indeed, from that of the MUTTER album itself. It is a safe bet to assume that this single is in fact a single off the "Triple X" soundtrack, though I have not seen that CD's artwork. The track listing of this single is as follows (not to be mistaken with an additional release - and supposedly a third is coming - of FEUER FREI! which has/will have a slightly different track-listing):

(1) Feuer Frei! (3:08)
(2) Feuer Frei! (Rammstein vs. Junkie XL Remix) (4:10)
(3) Feuer Frei! (Rammstein Remix 130) (3:44)
(4) Feuer Frei! (Rammstein Remix 95) (3:34)
(5) Du Hast (Cover Version by Battery) (4:41)
(6) Bück Dich (Cover Version by Battery) (3:39)

The official release date was October 14, 2002. The sound and composition of this single is unlike that I have seen of any of their previous single releases, since each remix is almost completely different from the other. Take LINKS 2 3 4, ICH WILL, or even MUTTER, where some of the remixes were amazing, though some of the others were unoriginal or downright lame (Westbam Remixes of "Links 2 3 4" and "Ich Will," or Vocoder Remix of "Mutter").

"Feuer Frei" in itself is a riveting and highly energizing song (ask anyone who had the fortune of seeing Rammstein perform it live). It is refreshing to see that two of the three remixes were actually done by Rammstein, though track 2 is still an interesting rendition of the song: Junkie XL added an interesting twist to the song with heightened guitar action and a techno beat; be interesting to see if hard-core clubs pick up on this. Rammstein's own remixes of their song are interesting too: Remix 130 is almost purely electronic in every form; Till Lindemann's vocals are speeded up to give the song a quicker - though only slightly! - kick to it. Remix 95 has a slower rendition of Lindemann's vocals, almost like a deliberate `about-face' from 130. There is lower level of synthesized guitar activity on this one too.

Now, the Battery covers of "Du Hast" and "Bück Dich" suffer from very obvious English accents in the German, but that is to be expected, so it cannot be criticized. After all, Rammstein did sing four English-language songs in their repertoire with German accents, which gave them a zest of excellence! The Battery rendition of "Du Hast" is interesting, with cool guitars and the similar techno beat to be found in the Junkie XL remix (see above). But "Bück Dich" has a lot to improve on - upon even the most casual listening; it sounds like the guitar riffs are deliberately garbled to lend the cover a degree of "heaviness," not to mention that the vocals are very snarl-sounding; is it a rabid dog that is screaming "Bück dich, befehl ich dir...."? All the same, I do not believe that Battery is so intolerable as to not deserve a pat on the back.

I'm a huge R+ fan. I have all singles, all records, couple t-shirts, stickers, tons of bootlegs, [the works]. I'm starting to recognize a trend in Rammstein singles: using old songs to fill in the track-listing... Du hast & Bueck dich !? Give me a break. They've been packaged with too many singles already.

There's three decent tracks on here (the obvious). If you're new to Rammstein, this will give you a great hit, two decent mixes, and two ... tracks from a few years ago. Even for an avid collector like me, well... the scarcity of NEW material (like with many R+ singles) is not worth the list price plus S&H.

Let me re-phrase that all:

If you're a R+ newbie: This will be a good starter.
If you're a fan: DON'T GET IT, you can live without 2 remixes.

4 out of 5 stars A little disappointed.......2002-11-21

Aside from the rather crappy Battery medleys of Du Hast and Bück Dich, it's a pretty sweet album. Problem is, what they're shipping to most stores is a ... single with only the original version of the song and the JXL remix.

So if you want the real deal, you're going to have to buy here.

    4 out of 5 stars Good single........2002-12-07

This single is part 'XX' of a "XXX" set.
The first track is the Junkie XL remix, the second track is the album version of Mutter, and the third track is the Rammstein 95 remix. All three are great to listen to. But the best part about this CD is the two minute interview with the band for the making of their 'Ich Will' video, and a photo gallery that's also included in it.
