Power Metal at its Best!!.......2006-06-27
Hammerfall is one of the best modern metal bands around today. Most of the other modern so called "metal" bands are nothing but screaming [...] Hammerfall took the best parts of 80's metal and solidified it together with an updated sound. They have a lot of skill and talent. Their songs are powerful and heavy and yet actually have melody that you can follow. You can hear and understand all the words. But again, they are extremely powerful and heavy. They have a constant Middle Age theme running through all their albums which is what makes them unique. It creates a certain mood and flow that connects all the songs on an album.
Now about rating their albums...all 5 of their albums rock! But the last 4 are better than the first. Their first is good heavy metal, much better than most metal bands today, but the songs did not completely "click" and come together. However, that issue was completely gone by the second album! None of their next 4 albums are better than the other. They all are as good as heavy power metal with melodic vocals can get. On each album they further develop their style and introduce a few new things. But... and a very important but... each album still sounds like Hammerfall! They remain true to their sound. So here are the ratings:
3.5 Glory to the Brave
5.0 Legacy Of Kings
5.0 Renegade
5.0 Crimson Thunder
5.0 Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken
The best of the best .......2006-03-05
This album is exactly what I expected from Hammerfall !!Again guitars and drums AWSOME!The Album is music that you can listen to over and over and everytime you will find something new and you will love it even more .Legacy of Kings is one of the best songs ever ,but the whole album is just good metal ,the style is not changed but every album and is different from the other but good ,I totally love it and I strongly recommend!
My First Hammerfall.......2005-07-17
I must say, after hearing "Legacy of Kings," I was quite impressed with the musical direction that this band was taking. These guys are definate true Metal warriors, with songs raging on about Knights in shining armor, glory and honor, honor of the breatherend and power of the steel ect ect, is where they are at in their songwriting. Sure the songs are a bit cliche and talk about the same subject matter, but you have to admit that there are some pretty catch tunes here..."Heeding the Call," "Let the Hammer Fall," and "At the End of the Rainbow," leave me singing them for days on end. There are however, alot of Maiden influences in Hammerfall as well, the vocalist, Joacim Cans gives a Bruce Dickinson like appearance as well as the guitar playing of Oscar Dronjak and Siefan Elmgran, while being not the greatest in the world do trade off licks and soloing abilities well in a clever manner. Though these guys are close to being Maiden rip-offs with only a shred of origionality, they are fun to listen to and should be in any Metal collection.
METAL IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2004-04-29
After having seen our favourite musical style bashed down by thrashers who should test their skills wielding chainsaws and/or
other loud implement of destruction...after having 'heard' (??)
abominable crossovers with hip-hop and other sorts of filthy sources of noise, after having our ears maimed by death metal
vocalists (?) sounding like grizzly bears with troath carcinomas
FINALLY
The Gods smiled upon us bereaved followers of melodic power and brought us these fine viking raiders from sweden that singlehandedly resurrected good old melodic metal, re-created a 'scene' WITHOUT any kind of buck-greedy major behind them
and kickstarted Europe toward a bright new future of musical greatness unheard of since the days of Mozart and Beethoven!
Too enthusiastic you say?
OK!
Just imagine how I felt in the late 90s when the 'greatest'
musical novelty were ice-t and body count when I grabbed the FIRST HammerFall CD after having witnessed a metal festival in
Italy attended by (o joy! o joy!!) some 5,000 people...
THESE GUYS SOUNDED LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN NURSED AT THE SAME TEAT THAT NOURISHED JOEY DiMAIO (of immortal ManOwaR fame!!!!!).
I ADORE HammerFall and I admit it, call me unfair.
THEY RESURRECTED THE MUSIC I LOVE
I OWE THEM MUCH MORE THAN I COULD EVER RETURN TO THEM!
So this is my paycheck to them...apart from having BOUGHT (not downloaded...no no) EVERY SINGLE ALBUM they released.
This one came forth in late 1998 and I had bought it in Nov. even before Xmas as I could not wait for my presents to come in.
In July 1999 they went to Italy and I rushed to Milan to see them!
Their rendition of 'At the end of the Rainbow' sent nearly 10,000 people to the sky!
The Templars will survive, ALWAYS!
Do your ears a favour and buy it!
The guys need support from TRUE believers!!!!!!!
Paolo, Genoa.
Hammerfall brings new life to the metal scene!!.......2004-04-27
Well what can I say? Hammerfall 2nd release is not as great as Glory to the Brave was but it's still way above most albums I've heard in my life. The opener "Heeding the Call" starts with a lot of speed and nice choruses. The vocals are excellent all over the album! Even the ballads are impressive! I mean this CD is simply a blast! If you like Medieval influenced music, this might just please you, since their lyrics are based on Knights, Kings and Fantasies. Check out "Heeding the Call", "Legacy of Kings", "Dreamland", "At the End of The Rainbow", "Warriors of Faith" and "The Fallen One".

Power Metal at its best..........2000-08-31
Hammerfall takes Helloween and Manowar, crushes them, and comes out on top. Their epic choruses combined with Helloween-ish speedy guitar riffs make for an excellent combination of sounds and result in pure top-of-the-line Power Metal. This record is leaning more towards Helloween than the first, and some might say that the ballads on this record aren't as good as the two on the first, but that's not to say that this doesn't need to be in your collection. It's catchy, sometimes anthemic choruses keep the epic Manowar-type sound alive and kickin'. I don't think that there are very many better metal bands out there than this one, and this record displays that point most aptly.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Band.......2006-11-30
I got to hear this band live at the Circus club in the Village are of NYC, they had a great stage presence. The music is very fast paced, very energitic, I think it's a mix of Iron Maiden and In Flames. A lot of the songs are about war, how can one go wrong with that!. I believe the band is from Norway. Technically the music is ok, I heard a few good guitar solo's in some of their songs. But the singer is amazing, he sings with a force you would think your listening to Iron Maiden, and if you are an Iron Maiden fan, I would highly recommend it.
You have to listen to the music loud because it's fast paced style does not deserve anything less the ear splitting volume. A must for the Heavy Metal Connoisseur, great addition to my Metal music collection
The first few songs are fast and hard, but Remember Yesterday (track 5) is slow and gives you a Metallica's Unforgiven feel.
