Cast aside all opinions you may have about this band, because with Bug Harvest, they've fully redefined themselves. The "old" Sweaty Nipples were more shock than rock, relying on all sorts of harebrained antics to compensate for their sophomoric punk/funk spasms. Well, those days are long gone. Everything in is place for these guys to bust out and dominate. They have three fine vocalists, two amazing bassists, a couple of mind-blowing guitarists, a pair of kick-ass drummers, and a keyboardist--all with only six members in the band. (You do the math on that one.)
Bug Harvest is a whirling dervish of hyperelastic, superspastic, occasionally funky hard rock. It's a hedonistic rock opera detailing various forms of intoxication and self-abuse. Everything these guys do seems to involve drinking heavily. "Saloonatic", "Tequila", and the opener, "Demon Juice", are just a few of the songs describing the revelry they participate in. Don't try this at home, though, kids. The Sweaty boys are experienced professionals with years of training. Besides, one run-through of this CD should provide enough vicarious intoxication to keep your head reeling for hours. --Adem Tepedelen
