Nine Inch Nails wishes that they could be this cool and original..........2005-08-28
I love bands that don't take themselves seriously at all and still manage to come out with a quality project. The reason why I love these projects is because you know the music is going to be loaded with fun. I love Totally Radd!! because of their attitude and 80s nintendo synth driven tunes that are catchy as hell and just plain fun to listen to. I really love the debut album because its rare that I hear a CD made with so much passion and love for what a band is doing and not for money. I also hope Totally Radd!! lasts for many years to come...long live Totally Radd!! So, if you're looking for an entertaining and original CD that is injected with tons of fun...look no further.
Totally Radd!! is TOTALLY AWESOME!!.......2005-07-14

The bee's knees and the cat's pajamas.......2005-01-17
If you know what "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start" means, you will probably love this album. The second track "Dressed Up" has been stuck in my head all week.
Listen to the samples before you buy though, 'cause this may not be your idea of music.
Best C.D. out in a long time!.......2004-12-01
I heard about Totally Radd...well it had to be a like a year ago and I checked them out, back when there only released song was "Greatest Battle for Planet Earth" and then reasently I see that they have come out with a C.D. They are great and I haven't found anyone that I had listen to the music not like it. A must have.
Awesome-o 9000.......2004-11-14
If you like nintendo sound samples, keytar, and raspy vocals to dance to this is the real deal.
Retro 80's style bleeps and bloops accompany lyrics yelled about video games, junk food, and shooting someone with vomit because they wouldn't trade prizes at chuck e cheeses.
DEfinatly try before you buy.
But I love it.

Another 70's (Reggae) classic.......2006-03-28
I-Roy Reid was definitely one of Jamaica's less fortunate musicians who despite his musical skills & undoubted versatility ended up not tasting ultimate success unlike many of his (less talented) contemporaries.
One thing remains universally accepted though and that is the fact that he was one of the top quartet that ruled the air waves and scene at the time, alongside Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone & of course U-Roy (who was definitely an influence of some sort to I -Roy and his promoter hence the similarity in names). Personally, I'll say that of the above mentioned quartet, he was one of the most clearly and easily understood with less 'jive', no disrespect to the others at all as I own (and love) releases from them all but truly, one gets a bit flustered with the 'freestyle JIVE' on later released material by U-Roy and Big Youth.
I'll have to disagree with a previous reviewer on the album quality as `Musical Shark Attack' to me, remains a clear cut album produced by the rather silent and quite under-rated producer of the time Joseph Hoo Kim, who with the Revolutionnaires cut & released some exceptional material in that period, check Dillinger's `Bionic Dread' (which featured the massive worldwide hit, 'Cocaine in my brain') also released in the same 1976. I-Roy's album itself is done in the typical (at the time) but still interesting Jamaican DJ/ toaster fashion which literally puts voice over beat and as such, if you listen to the album through just your left speaker/ headphone you hear only the acapella bits (stripped off the beats) and listening to the other speaker you hear the reverse, just the instrumentals without any voices.
Regards the Songs/ lyrics, I-Roy shows himself off and is all over the tracks, for typical Dub lovers, check `Drum sound' and `Tribute to Marcus Garvey'. For catchy lyrics, only people like I-Roy would take it back to the basics for example bible stories talking about "Lot's wife turn(ing) to a pillar of salt" in the song "Tribute to Marcus Garvey". There's also a wonderful sporty tribute to the West Indies/ English county cricket legend in the song `Tribute to Michael Holden'.
I Roy was not without his own career low points as expected in the industry, doing what he felt it took to stay up, drugs etc, verbally attacking other people and musicians on wax, the most highlighted of which was with his much younger rival `Prince Jazzbo', I kind of found the `verbals' funny in that both of them sometimes used same lyrics/ phrases e.g. the above Lot's wife turning to salt and a few others, they then also released direct attack full length albums aimed at each other with `I-Roy's "Straight to Jazzbo's head" and Jazzbo's response, "Straight to I-Roy head. Sadly, Roy Reid died practically penniless as I understand from a heart condition in 1999 but his songs remain endearing and entertaining to real Reggae music lovers.
Anyone for a game of cricket?.......2006-01-19
This CD is particular in the fact that I Roy's voice has been recorded on one track and the dubs on another. Therefore we haven't got real stereo as we know it but I Roy's voice coming out of one speaker and the backing track from the other. Apart from this, this is a great I Roy album and I remember getting it on vinyl way back in '76. Respect due to one of the quickest and probably the most wittiest toasters ever.
Avoid this one - I-Roy at his worst........2005-07-31
This is one of those albums that Virgin put out where they had no idea what the hell they were doing (with the exception of their Gregory stuff)... they were just going for certain Jamaican "names" of the day (around 1976). The production has no feel and sounds like I-Roy wrote the lyrics and maybe put some thought into what he was saying but it didn't come across - it's disjointed, off time and he doesn't sound at one with the riddims. I suspect the vocals were probably recorded in London, on top of the imported Jamaican riddims hence, very difficult to duplicate the amazing feel of the best authentic Jamaican I-Roy hits. I can just imagine it now - I-Roy freezing his ass off in London :) I'd even suggest that Virgin mixed it in London too because again, it sounds too clean and correct - unlike the rougher Jamaican mixes. Give this one a miss.
I Roy's attack.......2002-09-07
I Roy is probably one of my top 3 favorite chanters in Reggae music. His style, wit, and cleverness put him in top rankin fe sure. Musical Shark Attack however is not one of his strongest albums, but make no mistake, the biting social commentary, black pride lyrics ride high and the music of course is brilliant. Fitting his lyrical attack all throughout. Standout cuts: "Love I a Deal With", "Tribute to Marcus Garvey" and the outrageous "Semi Classical Natty", are strong tunes. As always, I miss the great I Roy, there are not many chanters left with his style, class and charm.

Long-awaited reissue of the Italian metal guitar god's 1989 solo album. 10 tracks. Lion Music.
Customer Reviews:
A third tier guitar god release.......2006-03-14
Yep, third tier is what your getting here. Alex Masi, late of Italy and obviously trying his hand at the time (80's) at becoming the next solo electric guitar hero of the hard rock scene comes onto the radar with this, what I think is his debut effort. So here is what you get
1) A very finely played effort with more groove than, say, Jason Becker and Marty Friedman's debut solo efforts.
2) A cool cover - ha, that's the main reason I bought this thing at a 2nd hand CD store!
3) Only one track with vocals. Which is a pity as it is a darn fine tune featuring Jeff Scott Soto (vocalist to every aspiring guitar god it seems) and if the rest of the album was like this it would certainly rate higher.
4) At the end of the day, a slightly more interesting meander through a bunch of tunes any solo guitarist could of done, but he does seem somewhat in awe of his influences given that the pressing I have has photos of him with various 'names' of the hard rock genre - as if he's trying to get some reflected validity.
Not essential by any means, and in any case his next album is more experimental.
Under rated guitar player of the decade.......2004-01-11
I just would like to say HEY to Alex and that I am glad to know someone as gifted as this man.I do think that everything is well executed and played as you would hear it at one of his concerts.
I am suprised that a lot of people still don't know who this guy is yet, other than dyed in the wool guitarists , that is.
I hope that Alex isn't to busy to start touring around some of the more well known spots in the U.S. that Yngwie Malmsteen and Jeff Beck have been frequenting because there is a market for solo giutarists.Play on Alex!Compositional skills and a flare for the obscure are amazing attributes to have and Holdsworth is another one of the masters that are found here.If I played guitar I would probably throw it away after listening to this one and bow in reverance! Listen to Vertical Invader too, it has a great drummer,( John Macaluso ),from Musician's Institute. This must have been a dream to record from a drummer's perspective that is.I cant wait to hear something new from this dude! Rock on!

Customer Reviews:
Groundbreaking.......2004-11-27
This is the first of two albums released by Portland, Oregon's terribly under-appreciated Wehrmacht. While not as well produced as the follow-up, Shark Attack is more consistantly fast and the guitar work is more technical. Think early Megadeth with ultra-fast drumming and Kreator solos.
Wehrmacht was arguably the first band to be coined speed-core for this extremely fast metallic hardcore. Though their speedy crossover sound, technical guitar work, and campy lyrics were predated by the likes of S.O.D., Wehrmacht is definitely deserving of the speed-core badge. Napalm Death and other grindcore heavyweights consider them major influences.
The vocalist and guitarist went on to front the funky progressive grind band Spazztic Blurr. Drummer Brian Lehfeldt joined Cryptic Slaughter then the much more tame Sweaty Nipples.
This 2000 rerelease of the 1986 classic has been recorded from vinyl, so there is a slight hiss heard through the album and occasional popping. Still, it's far better than the old cassette! If Amazon doesn't have it in stock, check New Renaissance's website.
One of the best bands period ..........2004-08-07
A few years ago, I had gotten into one of the most distinctive and original bands to ever grace the planet, Sweaty Nipples. The thing I absolutely loved about Sweaty Nipples was their ability to seamlessly blend punk, metal, industrial, grunge, and funk ... all while maintaining a homogenous sound of their own, but being that there won't be any new Sweaty Nipples material coming out anytime soon, once you've gotten all the available albums and EP's, what is one to do? At the time I did not even know what Wehrmacht was ... well you know how when you're on the internet, Windows Media Player c an look up any cd you put in, and you click that thing and it tells you all about the cd with the list of related artists at the bottom? That's where I found this name ... Wehrmacht. It was the only band under "Related Artists" for Sweaty Nipples. I clicked the name, not expecting much. Then I read a little on their bio, learning that Brian Lehfeldt was in Wehrmacht before he was in Sweaty Nipples, and described in some places as "the fastest band in metal." I figured it'd be an okay collectors item to have, as it was Sweaty Nipples-related ...
Upon first listen to "Shark Attack", all I got was the sensation of a barrage of noise. Sure, I'm a metalhead, and yes, thrash is my favorite form of metal, I like Blind Illusion, Artillery, Tourniquet, Megadeth, Sacrifice, Death Angel, Heathen, Testament, Kreator, and so on ... but when it comes to speed, Wehrmacht was blowing all these bands away. But the whole barrage of noise thing took some getting used to ... there was really only so much of Lehfeldt's bapbapbapbapbapbapbapbap drumming I could take before I had to turn it off. Then I began to realize something ... not only can Wehrmacht play really fast and really complicated, but, they are actually good songwriters. Wehrmacht began to take a presence all their own on my favorite list, and now, I love Wehrmacht, over Sweaty Nipples. I can handle the intensity that comes with this now ... the whole album of it, it just took some getting used to. Indeed, if you put this cd in, and keep listening, a day later, you might notice that you have a certain part of one of these songs stuck your head, no you can't understand a word Tito sings, as he goes so fast, but really ... Wehrmacht could write songs that not only as fast as humanly possible to play, but they had the uncanny ability to make them catchy by throwing in an unconventionally used guitar solo-style here, or implore the use of a cowbell on downbeats (!), and other things that keep you listening . . . then the songs get stuck your head. Wehrmacht was an exceptional thrash metal band, really maybe close to being the best their was ... Les Evans of Cryptic Slaughter described Wehrmacht once as "the only band that I ever saw blow Slayer offstage." That really says something, whether you like Slayer or not. My personal favorite song is the album's namesake, the opener, beginning with `Jaws' theme music then breaking into the rapid Lehfeldt and the guitars coming playing just as rapid right along with him. Another thing I liked about Wehrmacht was the unusual vocals of Tito, he doesn't really scream ... or sing ... he more or less talks really fast without rapping, like his voice is an instrument he needs to use to keep up with the rest of the band's tempo. And his voice is rather comical sounding, yet at the same time ... intense ... you'd have to hear the guy. I highly recommend Wehrmacht to not only thrash ... but music in general, there is something truly special here. If they don't catch upon first listen, allow them to work on you, as they did me, eventually they just might carve their own niche into your tastes. Wehrmacht put out one other album, Biermacht, which is every bit as good, it just doesn't have the length Shark Attack does though, which is the only thing that might make it better than Biermacht.
Six hundred and sixty six freakin' thumbs up.......2002-02-08
This LP was originally released in 1987 and is quite possibly the greatest thrash/speed record ever recorded. Though often mischaracterized as grindcore pioneers, Wehrmacht belts out 12 classic thrash tunes to the speed and intensity of a Terrorizer or Repulsion rhythm section. Labeled (appropriately stickered on the original LP, in fact) by New Renaissance to be "the fastest heavy metal band today," "Shark Attack" is actually not all that fast in the period's context. It is definitely no faster than Terrorizer or Napalm Death, possibly equivalent to the speed of Repulsion's old demos. The difference, though, is that this is not a grind record, it is pure thrash. (Think Megadeth's "Killing is my Business..." with the drums on 78 RPM!) The editorial review here also cites them as successfully mixing punk and metal, another common notion that is seen more clearly in hardcore/thrash crossover bands like Cryptic Slaughter, DRI, Siege and Septic Death. On "Shark Attack," Wehrmacht is definitely more metal than anything else. They did end up partnering up with Cryptic Slaughter, (who drummer Brian Lehfeldt joined for the Speak Your Peace record) and that may be where the confusion comes from, but if you can't hear the difference between a band playing really fast punk riffs and really fast metal riffs, you shouldn't even bother with this record. The second album, "Biermacht," is more highly produced and shows a little more hardcore influence on it, but the line is still fine.
Wehrmacht is definitely comparable to Cryptic Slaughter, Siege or a really fast Megadeth, but I personally think they surpass them all. The production on this record is similar to all of those bands, too; reverbed drums, heavily distorted guitars and basses, high-pitched, reverbed screams. The sound actually reminds me a lot of "Killing Is My Business..." but cleaner and more distinct, maybe what Megadeth had in mind when they produced the debackle. I don't know what else to tell you but buy this record, you'll love it. I won't mention what drummer Brian Lehfeldt is doing now because it's shameful--but if you're curious, look up the members of the band Everclear.
