Beres Hammond by far is the best when it comes to Lover's Rock. As a youngster, my generation is all too much infatuated with Reggae and know so little about it. If you say you know Reggae and the name Beres Hammond doesn't ring a bell then you DON'T KNOW REGGAE!!!! Beres has been such an inspiration to me. This Ultimate Collection is a must have for Reggae lovers.

Beres Hammond is truly an artist. His smooth voice makes you feel like he's actually there singing to you. I had the opportunity to go to one of his concert's and it was the best concert I've ever been to. I listen to his CD's so much, my daughter (6 yrs) is actually now a Beres fan. Hers and my favorite song (on this cd) is Rockaway. Words cant explain how you'll feel after hearing his music. I recommend this and any or all of his CD's you wont be disappointed.

As usual the creative output both musically and creatively is truly astonishing what is more the humility of the man is awesome he is just as excellent if not better in concert than recorded, The entire album is filled with uplifting almost spiritual words of comfort advice and joy. The songs of greatest impact (open to debate by my fellow reviewers of course!) 1~3, 5, 8, 11~13 which is not to say the other songs are good as well believe me they are!

The word great is a very delicate word and should only be used in outstanding cases. Bob Marley is Great, Muhammed Ali is Great and Pelle' is the Greatest footballer ever. However when it comes down to conscious, smooth,lovers rock reggae Beres is the GREATEST and the BEST of the BEST. Believe it or not these words are coming from a teenager in an era where rap music and r&b stands out for persons in my age group . Buying any Beres Hammond CD OR CASSETTE will be on of the best investments you ever made in your life. The man is just simply the best whether you want to accept it or not and one more thing don't any of you dare say that you are his biggest fan because I AM.

The scales may be tipped here towards R&B-infused love tunes, but lead track "Reggae Calling" makes an equally heart-swelling plea to the world to stop the violence, and truth-and-rights track "Motherland" receives its rightful share of Hammond's considerable store of passion. Of course, he would rather make love than war, and those urgent, whiskey-grained vocals throb most exquisitely when Hammond sings to the ladies in "We've Found It," a tale of young love in bloom, and in "No Disturb Sign," one of the best booty-knocking soundtracks ever recorded this side of Barry White. "I Won't Surrender" takes a stand against a faithless love, but Hammond is most familiar and convincing as the love junkie of "Can't Get Enough," a mix of moaning cries and startling poetic juxtapositions--the Bible, Oil of Olay, breakfast cereal.     Un like many artists this gentleman, for he truly is, Hugh Beresford Hammond better (and also simply) known as Beres is as beautiful a writer as he is a balladeer but his obvious God given talent doesn't stop there he also writes, what we in the Caribbean call "conscious", lyrics as his first song on this album Reggae calling points out. His expression is beautiful and metaphorical in all his and truly moving and poignant, He makes you want not only to groove slowly but also inspires positive life affirming feelings. My favorite sounds on this album are Reggae Calling which is especially imperative in these times, We've Found It, No Disturb Sign both beautiful love songs Giving Thanks, I Could Beat Myself, and Smile for Me. Once you buy this album you want to buy all his stuff as I did, well maybe not all but at least two more of this man's excellent albums if only to hear one of the best voices the Caribbean has produced since Robert Nesta Marley

    Excellant album from top to bottum. Many goods songs. To me, I thought the song "No Crime" is great. Also, the song "No Disturb Sign" is tremendous; beautiful song that evokes lots of thoughts. If you are buying some Beres, you MUST have this one.

      i have heard all of Beres Hammonds albums and i truely believe he is the has is the best reagge artist alife. He is truely untouchable. And this album proves it, next to his album "In Control" this is probably the second best cd he has made. This album plays nice mellow riddums non stop from start to finish. Tracks that prove to stand out the most are "sorry mi breathen" "this love" "can you play some more" etc. I can go on as a matter of fact i cannt remeber on single of tune track this album was put together well.

      Like Dennis Brown & Bob Marley, Beres Hammonds is simply the sound of Jamaica. His lyrics and sound are truely original and distinctive. Once you hear his voice you know it's Beres.
