5 out of 5 stars God, it's so good........2004-05-14

This Album Rulz!!!!!! I can't believe this stuff doesn't get any airplay. Every song on here is so good! My serious favorite is "Remember My Name." It's a really thoughtful piece, belying their rock-and-roll attitude. Same with "Tragedy." That song got me through a nasty break-up with someone I thought was the love of my life. I think that song helped me realize how life just rolls on, even if real tragedies seem to be happening. Two awesome covers, too--"You've lost that Lovin' feeling" and "Help Wanted." The latter I think is so far better than the original. These guys should've been huge.

5 out of 5 stars Legs Diamond Rules.......2002-04-05

This is the third album, though not as hard as the first two albums, it is still a great cd. This band has great talant and their music just don't sound all the same like most bands. If you like rock and roll you will like this cd.

5 out of 5 stars TRAGEDY.......2002-01-26

The tragedy here is that most people haven't even heard of Legs Diamond, but if you listen to this you'll like it and believe me you will remember their name. This, their third release, is not quite a concept album, but most of the songs are stylized so that it seems that way. The keyboard work of Mike Prince almost makes you feel like you are in Chicago with Legs Diamond and the past is alive and well. The only catch: that guitar, those drums, the bass and searing vocals.

Many Legs fans view this album as a let down, but I disagree. This album, although different, is a masterpiece that Cream records unfortunately released and also failed to promote. There are no slackers on this, just like the first two Mercury releases. Listening to this, I frequently feel like I am in a smokey lounge with a ragtime piano player, but wait there's an excellent rock band there with him. Yeah, I dream a lot, but what of it. Good music does that for me.

The finest tracks would have to be "Tragedy", "Remember My Name", "Underworld King" and "Come With Me". There are 2 bonus tracks one of which is a cover of Tommy Bolin's "Teaser" and it is good. They also do wonderful covers of "Help Wanted" and "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". This band has balls to go out on a limb like this, but it is all great stuff. Even though I have recommended all of their first 3 discs, please remember that this music is a little different than the debut and A Diamond is A Hard Rock. I highly recomend this to all. It's like a breath of the past from the present. If you're confused enough pick this up. It is definitely ear candy!

4 out of 5 stars FIRE POWER WITH A SMALL BANG.......2000-09-05

NOT ONE OF THEIR BEST ALBUMS, CONSIDERING THEIR FIRST 2 WERE TOTALLY AWESOME. STILL, I LIKED THIS ALBUM. THE MATERIAL IS NOT AS STRONG AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. SO LETS START WITH THE OPENER. "THE UNDERWORLD KING" RANKS UP THEIR WITH THEIR PREVIOUS EFFORTS. DEFINETLY HOT STUFF. "MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE" LAGS. THE REMAKE OF THE OLDIES CLASSIC "YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELIN'" IS OUT OF PLACE ON THIS RECORD. "REMEMBER MY NAME" IS A CATCHY CLASSIC LEGS DIAMOND EFFORT. ACCUSTICALLY BRILLIANT, WITH THE SONG PICKING UP THE PACE TOWARDS THE END. "CHICAGO" IS GOOD OLD TIME ROCK AND ROLL."MIDNIGHT LADY" IS NOT A STRONG PIECE, BUT A GOOD SONG IN ITSELF. "HELP WANTED" IS A LOVE SONG THATS JUST O.K. "COME WITH ME", "TRAGEDY", & "MAN AT THE TOP" CLOSE OUT THE L.P., AND ALL 3 ARE LEGS DIAMOND TO THE HILT. I WASN'T FORTUNATE TO HAVE THE BONUS TRACK. OVERALL I RECOMMEND THIS CD BECAUSE IT DOES CONTAIN SOME CLASSIC LEGS DIAMOND MATERIAL.

    4 out of 5 stars DON'T TURN AWAY..........2007-08-01

Diamonds are Forever and are scintillating in the light. Vocalist Rick Sanford is gone and replaced with John Levesque, but there is no loss in quality. The band still contains original members Jeff Poole [Drums], George Romeo [Guitars], Michael Prince [Keys/Guitar], and on bass is Adam Kury, who joined on The Wish CD. There seems to be a new vitality to the band and a slightly harder edge to the sound. It takes a little getting used to the new vocalist, with Sanford I could always say Legs Diamond, now I have to go look in the Juke Box to see who's playing that cool sounding song. Songs I have taken a fancy to are: Don't Turn Away, King of Speed, Trouble, This Time Around, Will You Remember Me, Loneliness and For All We Know. Everytime I play this disc I like more and more of it. It is extremely infectious and may lead you to wanting more Legs Diamond. The band offers many great discs and Favourites Volume 1 is an excellent place to start, unless you already know the band and then the self titled debut, Town Bad Girl, A Diamond Is A Hard Rock, or Fire Power may suit your fancy. The only disc I would be cautious with is the Wish. For some reason I never got into the Wish, It's not bad, it just doesn't have a certain feel to it like the other releases. Be prepared for different, but rock solid with Diamonds are Forever. Recommended!

5 out of 5 stars This Diamond is a Gem!!.......2005-12-31

Diamonds are Forever is an excellent Legs Diamond cd! Rick Sanford is gone but John Levesque does a great job. After a couple of listens this cd grows on you. I love "Don't Turn Away","Will you Remember Me", "Loneliness", and the instrumental "For all we Know". The band has three original members " Michael Prince , Roger Romeo and Jeff Poole. The overall production is very good and the songs are well written. Michael Prince produced it and this limited edition is well worth the money. You can check out the band at www.legsdiamond.com. If you like good AOR Rock then buy this one. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Great Live Band!.......2005-04-26

I'm buying this CD now. Seems only fair since I was at the show where it was recorded!

This is a great live band. I was first exposed to them in the late 70s due to the great KISS-FM/AM radio station in San Antonio - and the Godfather of Rock and Roll, Joe Anthony. KISS exposed us to some great bands that never got really big, like Legs Diamond, Moxy and Triumph - to name just a few.

I first heard them oddly enough in L.A. in 1979. My friends there were hot on former Mahavishnu Orchestra guitarist John McLaughlin (a master of all stringed instruments) and so we all went to see him at the Santa Monica Civic Center. This is a smaller venue like SA's old Municipal Aud. So, who's the opening act but Legs Diamond - and they rocked! My music rating with my friends went way up because I kept telling them how hot this band was. The show was great!

Since then, I've seen them twice here in San Antonio, including this show at the Fiesta-related La Semana Allegre rock show. Both times at the outdoor Sunken Gardens theatre they've done outstanding!

Get this one - and also their first two albums - both are winners.

5 out of 5 stars Live is the Best.......2002-01-09

This cd is outstanding. Live recordings seperate the good from the bad. Legs Diamond is the greatest, they will rock your socks off. I have seen them 3 times in concert and have never been disappointed ever. This a great collection of what they love to do, play music. You will really enjoy this cd, so go get it.... Get all their music and rock with the best...

5 out of 5 stars Legs Diamond forever..........2002-01-06

This is an outstanding collection of the best band around. Live albums give you the raw talent of any band and Legs Diamond pass all the test on this one. You must buy this cd. I have let friends who have never even heard of the band listen to their music and they really enjoy it. Almost thirty years in rocking should let you know they are here to stay. Great talent and never a bad song or music. Legs Diamond forever....

    5 out of 5 stars AOR HEAVEN.......2007-08-01

Thank God Legs Diamond is popular in Germany. Now Out on Bail is available and features 3 Bonus tracks that until this time have never been released on any LD album. The bonus tracks feature original bassist Michael Diamond, whereas the rest of the tracks feature his replacement Mike Christie. 2 of the tracks feature Dusty Watson on drums and are the original bonus tracks from the first German release of Out On Bail [Doomsday Flight & Seems Like a Dream].

I'm assuming from this release that original guitarist George Romeo left the band first and was then followed by Mike Diamond after he had recorded the 3 tracks [Radio, Hey Texas & One Last Kiss]. The original drummer Jeff Poole left before the original German release came out, but is featured on 9 tracks here. Many people have had a problem with this release because of the line up changes, but it is actually one of the best releases by the band following Legs Diamond, A Diamond Is a Hard Rock, Town Bad Girl and Fire Power. The affordability of this new release makes it very appealing indeed. I also own the Music for Nations version with Out on Bail and Land of the Gun together for 80 minutes of great music, but usually not affordable to most.

There is no end to great songs here from the ballads One Way Ticket and Found it Out the Hard Way to the rocker Out On Bail. Favorites include Fugitive, Doomsday Flight & Nobodys Fool. Growing on me are Radio and Hey Texas [It helps being from Texas!]. If you are working on finishing a Legs Diamond collection this is a must, if you want to try them the price makes this a good place to start, although I would suggest Favorites Volume 1, or one of my favorites listed earlier in the review. No rock collection is complete without Legs Diamond, but you may have never heard them, because most radio program directors are clueless as to what good music is or was. Highly recommended!!!

3 out of 5 stars Almost an Angel.......2006-07-31

    3 1/2 Stars = Very Good

Legs Diamond put out five albums from 1977-1986. Out of those five I have their sophomore effort, "A Diamond is a Hard Rock." Legs Diamond has been compared to Deep Purple by many, but on "A Diamond is a Hard Rock," I find comparisons to Angel much more legitimate. Yes, there is some Deep Purple going on here, but I hear loads of Angel, especially, "Helluva Band" period Angel.

Legs Diamond lead singer Rick Sanford in particular sounds like a poor mans Frank Diminio of Angel. Rick's phrasing, delivery, even his register & tone have Frank Dimino writ-in all over his vocals, but he just can't muster the eloquence & majesty of Frank's vocals.

The rest of the band comes on keyboard heavy like Angel, but their song structures & keyboards lack Giuffrias (Angel) ethereal, all consummating & commanding work. Legs Diamond also lack a guitarist as instantly recognizable as Punky Meadows of Angel, though Legs Diamond's guitars are no slouch, especially on the self titled opening song, "A Diamond is a Hard Rock," maybe the most memorable song here, where the band as a whole rips.

Please don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying Legs Diamond, "A Diamond is a Hard Rock," should be ignored for its own merits or ignored for better Angel albums, there is plenty here I think that 70's heavy metal enthusiast will enjoy, it just that it has been done better elsewhere, but also done much worse.

    Worth your time.

4 out of 5 stars Great Late 70's Hard Rock!.......2004-10-28

I never knew much about these guys until I read Martin Popoff's first book on heavy metal. I have the first album too but I think this one is better. My favs are the title track, Waiting, Evil, I Think I Got It ("I think I got it from you", classic lyrics), and minor hit Woman. I wish I had heard these guys when I was younger but better late than never. Decent playing and just as good as any other hard rock from the late 70's. Great album cover too!

    5 out of 5 stars Original 8 track owner.......2004-03-28

Till this day, no band has EVER captured the sound the way Legs did. I was 12 yrs old when my older brother bought the 8-trac. I was raised in the southeast side of ATX(Montopolis),so I was the only one who had a portable(boombox). We would listen to this eighter all night, even though we had VH,Moxy,UFO,Aerosmith, and not to mention KISS. A "Diamond Is a Hard Rock" in my opinion is the best Rock-n-Roll ever recorded(debate anyone?). Get a copy and see for yourself.

    5 out of 5 stars LONG SHOT!.......2002-03-09

The second release from Hollywood rockers Legs Diamond. The original release was on Mercury Records and was an excellent follow-up to their debut. It was, and still is, hard to believe a band could put out two consecutive albums where every song was a choice cut. I'm not sure I remember all of the band, but here goes: Rick Sanford[vocals/flute], Roger Romeo[guitars], Mike Prince[keyboards/guitars], Jeff Poole[drums], and Michael Prince[bass].

The song selection here is uncanny, no filler, except for the bonus track "High School Queen". I always like to talk about the songs I enjoy most on a disc, but there are too many to choose from. My definite favorite, though, would be "Woman', which is a slow ballad about the price of a relationship. A fun tune is "I Think I Got It". Some great rock in "Evil", which is song 7 and 8 on my disc, "Flying Too High", "Jailbait", "A Diamond is a Hard Rock", and "Waiting".

There are comparisons to Deep Purple, but all I can say is that's a bad analogy, other than they're both bands with 5 members. Legs Diamond's music is very original to me, as is their playing style. They put on an excellent show and their sound live is exceptional. This band has 5 albums, which are great and in my top 100. A DIAMOND IS A HARD ROCK is definitely one of them, too! This music on this CD sounds as fresh to me today as it did 25 years ago in college. I have to give this absolutely 3 thumbs up!

    5 out of 5 stars Flashback.......2002-01-19

I first purchased this album (and I do mean album) when it came out in the 1970's. From that moment on its been one of my favorite rock albums. Finding this on CD was like bringing back my youth for 40 minutes at a time. I don't think there thas been but maybe 10 albums in my life that I loved so much that I wore them out not once but also a second one. I can honestly say that I have been searching for this album on CD since the late 80's and now I have it and it still sounds as good today as it did back then. Legs Diamond was a wonderful band in the LA rock scene and "A diamond is a hard rock" was there best effort ever. Buy this album if you like 70's rock, you won't be disappointed.
