Customer Reviews:
Good music, but...........2007-06-10
... I'm wondering why some of the bands that were there are not on this cd. I'm typing this up because I saw my favorite band there for the first time that summer. I'm talking about The Living End. These boys are extremely talented and (in my personal opinion) were one of the best bands there. Straight-up rock music with a lot of influences from the 50's and so on. Check for videos on Youtube (look for Tribute to Rock n Roll to see how good they can be). You'll see what I'm talking about.
Just getting word out for an under-appreciated band that definitely rocked one of the main stages on the 2006 Warped Tour
Van's warped tour rocks.......2006-09-13
the 2006 edition of the warped tour compilation is totally cool, you have great bands like Moneen and Anti-Flag, 51 bands for $8 totally rocks.
Depends on what you like in music.......2006-07-21
I will confess, this is not traditional punk... but if you're like me, I wasn't that big of a punk fan... I didn't like the warped tour until last years cd. It's a very diverse cd.... it has music such as Relient K that are much less hardcore than normal punk bands, and Underoath, who stomp the [...] out of the punk bands. I like the first cd more than the second cd in the set.
My recommended songs:
Underoath- "Moving For The Sake of Motion"
Moneen- "If Tragedy's Appealing, Disaster's an Addiction"
Chiodos- "The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined"
All Time Low- "Coffee Shop Soundtrack"
So They Say- "Over Exposed Photo"
Everything about the music!.......2006-07-11
I was reading through these reveiws trying to see which songs I should listen to first ( I can't ever just dive into a cd, I need someone to tell me where to start) and I started to get really ticked off. People are complaining about bands not being "punk" enough and the tour having lost its credibility. Well, news flash people. Its about the MUSIC not the LABLES WE PUT ON IT!
If you want to hear some music that is rock, punk, gypsy, screamo, emo...just about any type of rock, you've got it here. I bought the '05 comp. and I loved it. It even led me to some great bands and I went out and bought their cd's so that I could hear more of them.
If you want to taste a little of everything, for dirt cheap, 8 bucks..51 bands..come on, even I-tunes can't beat that. This is def a CD for those who get in the pool at the shallow end and slowly walk deeper. Heck! Its for those who dive right in!
Its about the MUSIC, not LABLES!
BUY IT! You won't regret it
dont buy but.........2006-07-01
it has nofx and anti-flag on it which are some of the only good bands on here. damn i wish they had anti-flags press corpse instead of no future. oh well just dowload nofx and anti-flag dont buy this.

A great way to round off your refused album collection.......2006-03-08
What a great way to round out your Refused album collection!
When I first popped this disc in I was pleased to hear the recurrence of the popular but great New Noise, as I progressed through the disc you can't help but get into it the way these guys played. The music is undeniably some of the hardest/ heaviest hitting hardcore out. The vocals are top notch as always by Dennis and the way the music forms around his screams is like a fire imploding on the listener. There are a few experimental tracks such as the remix of Refused are F*cking Dead which I heard when this album first came out and didn't particularly like, but soon got grooving to it. This album even includes the cover of The Prodigy's voodoo people, which is pretty awesome.
All in all I say great album! A must have for any fan who wants to round off their collection without buying the singles Nut and New Noise Theology. If you are a new fan start out with some of their full length albums such as Shape of punk to come or Songs to fan the flames of discontent as a few of these songs may seem too strange to the new listener.
A great collection of their older works.... .......2006-02-14
REFUSED - The EP Compilation
-
One Review!!! One Freaking Review?!? This album is a prequel to one of the greatest albums ever made `The Shape of Punk to Come'. As the name implies it is various EP's first 4 tracks are off the `New Noise Theology' EP, tracks 10-17 are from the `Nut' EP, and tracks 5-9 I'm honestly not really sure about.
Now Refused, for those who do not know, are and aggressive politically driven band from Sweden... As far as their music goes it is aggressive punk / hardcore hybrid. (Their last Album `The Shape of Punk to Come' - was all this and oh so much more...) Now I'm not a guy who generally likes Punk/Hardcore music... (with the exception of Snapcase.... They kick some ass too) But Refused just `clicked' with me... the same way other great bands like `Opeth' and `Tool' have.
I think for Refuse it was there passion, their aggression and their message... All of those 3 things combined really just made Refused one of my favorite bands of all time. As a lyricist Dennis was a pure genius... denouncing most of our Societies traditions with pure lyrical anarchy. Tracks like: Rather be Dead, Burn it, Lick it Clean, Symbols and The Real are pretty much asking us to question what we've been taught and revolt against Societies Rules and Stereotypes.
Anarchy seemed like such a childish idea when so many crappy, 3-chord, spike wearing, drunken punk bands tried to embrace it... Yet Refused gave it a whole new sense of intelligence and appreciation.
Please don't overlook this album, the `Songs to Flame the Fan of Discontent' and especially `The Shape of Punk to Come'.
Refused is a true gem in the commercial world that has become Punk-Rock.
Favorite Tracks: Sunflower Princess, Burn it, Rather be Dead, and Everlasting
-4.75 Stars.

great rock album.......2004-09-01
(...) great album!!!!!!! it was my first REFUSED cd that i bought, it rocks. its got great guitar riffs, it's so great that on the first day i bought it i fell in love with it. i love great guitar riffs and melodies. i highly recommend this album you will not be disappointed period!!!!!
4 and a half.......2004-06-06
they can't be called hardcore, neither post-hardcore. Refused is just an act that crossed the boundaries of this style, but without paying the 'right dues' to it. It's very heavy and angry, like hardcore should be, but their originality goes beyond labels. The only but of this cd is the vocals. They're not very shaped and for this style of heavier songs, a well-screamed shoulb be welcome, but we've got the lyrics and some of the coolest riffs and breakdowns ever.

Customer Reviews:
What the..........2006-02-18
...Good Charlotte and Sum 41? Um...does anyone else think that the Warped Tour has really let its pit monkeys down this time around? At least we've got Alkaline Trio, Flogging Molly, The Lawrence Arms, and Swingin' Utters on here. But damn...you really shouldn't be representing the mohawk-sporters with bands like Good Charlotte and Sum 41 on your CD, there, Warped Tour.
Good comp........2005-02-20
This CD is an intresting mix of Big bands/legends(NOFX,Alkaline trio etc...) and some smaller noname but awesome bands(Destruction made simple,Avenged sevenfold, and Sloppy meat eaters). They also got it good on the metal count this year with The used, Throwdown (favorite),A7X,and from autumn to ashes. Overall buy this album (7 buck).
AAHHH.......2004-12-02
A7X is awesome!!! best band in the world!! listen to them!!! they rock!! and they're hott!!! especially zacky vengeance and matt shadows!!
IS IT LIVE?.......2004-03-12
On this cd are the songs live or just right off the cds?
"50 songs, but I'm not complaining".......2003-07-18
This CD is a confusing mix of punk bands, from pop-punk's Sum 41 & Good Charlotte to punk favorites Alkaline Trio, Vandetta Red, & The Casualties to bands that I've never even heard of such as Unsung Zeros, Ozma, & Destruction Made Simple. I reccomend this CD if you're looking for new bands to like & listen to. Although it's a confusing CD, it gives you new ideas of just how deep you're going to go in the punk underground.

"Unplugged" takes on new meaning for this Greenpeace fundraiser. The hook is that the 16 name-acts here--Midnight Oil, Sonic Youth, UB40 and P.M. Dawn included--were recorded live with a solar-powered mobile facility. Standout cuts from R.E.M. (a rock-steady, "Drive"), U2 ("Until the End of the World," live in San Diego), Annie Lennox (a lovely acoustic version of "Cold"), and Soundgarden with Brian May ("New Damage") make this a clear-cut winner. --Jeff Bateman
Customer Reviews:
Most of the wattage comes from the sun, not the bands.......2005-05-01
All of the cuts on this album were recorded with solar energy, so it gets five stars for being environmentally progressive. If only the music were at the same level. Don't get me wrong, there is some very good stuff here. REM delivers a rocking version of "Drive" that is very different from the album version, Annie Lennox gives a beautiful rendition of "Cold," U2 is reliably excellent performing "Until the End of the World," and James (whom I had never heard of before) has a great song, "Ring the Bells." The rest of the disk is okay-none of the cuts are terrible, but there's nothing particularly exciting either. There are too many bands that I've never heard of whose performances don't make me eager to hear more.
Some mind-blowingly beautiful songs and some forgetable ones.......1998-12-09
James' "Ring the Bells" really is breathtaking. I'm a big fan of James, and "Ring the Bell" is my favourite song of thiers, and I cried the first time I heard this version. R.E.M.'s "Drive" is really great, too. U2 "Untill the end of the World", and Sonic Youth's "JC" are both okay, and the rest of the songs didn't really hit with me, but the CD is well worth $15 of whatever just for "Ring the Bells"
Some great songs and some ok ones........1998-10-04
The version of Ring the Bells by James is the most ass kicking song I have ever heard. The other songs are ok.

Customer Reviews:
Great Black Metal Collection.......1999-09-02
Before purchasing this cd I'd only heard of Satyricon in the underground Black Metal scene. When I first bought the cd and listened to it it all sounded the same to me, I mean screaching daemon like vocals and fast bass drum, high-hat and guitar, I though there wasn't much you could do with that. After a few hours of listening to it I began to listen more closly and began to rekognize each bands certain style enjoying it more and mor everytime I listened to it. This compilation basically blew my mind into loving the entire black metal scene, esp the Scandinavian aspect of it. I totally reckomend it for someone looking for something awsome and really hard to listen to.
A good introduction.......1999-04-22
What we have here is a double album which is very good for someone who is either new to the underground Black Metal scene or for whatever reason just doesnt want to buy about two dozen mostly imported cds. This volume deals mostly with the Norse bands and includes such big names as Emperor, Dark Funeral, Mayhem and Enslaved. For being a compilation the style rarely changes relying on mostly the earlier Black Metal sound (fast high pitched guitars, screeched vocals, occasional keyboards). So, if one has heard the more high profile black metal bands (Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth...etc) and wishes to discover several other bands, this would be a good place to start. The only short coming is the total lack of unreleased tracks, in other words, if you already have CDs by most of these bands, there is no point in purchasing this.

Customer Reviews:
Coming Together.......2007-01-10
I first purchases this album when it first came out because I was a great fan of Saves the Day in their early years, but also of Sean McGrath. Yet, through this album I have been able to hear other bands in which I probably would have never heard. The fact that these different bands were able to get together with their varying styles of playing worked great, a lot better than I thought that it ever would. The way that these various styles worked together for such a good cause surely demonstrates the way that so many different people, no matter who you are, can come together and help stop such a horror that is cancer.
I also wanted to say that after listening to this album over and over again, my college roommate went out and bought it for himself, even though he could have easily copied it from me. And then our friends went out and bought it, and so on and so on. At my college alone, I know of 45 people that have bought this album from just being in the room listening to it. So keep it up everyone and spread the music
There isn't a better way to spend $14........2006-05-26
I just got this CD a few weeks ago, and I think it is great. These charities are very deserving of the money. I am a little disappointed that only 3 others have reviewed it.
A great cd, with great heart, for a great cause...........2004-10-22
After losing both my parents to cancer in 2002 & 2003 (Breast for my mom and Leukemia for my dad) I have made it my personal goal to do what ever I can to support finding a cure for cancer. I do the charity walks, were the ribbons, and am conscious about my purchases when they are benefiting this cause. This is why I gave this cd 5 stars. Not only is the music awesome, but it feels great to know that it is reaching beyond my own ears. Most of the other compilations out there supporting this cause are more mellow and mostly ballads (which are great and I also own), this cd is for the love of rock. I plan to buy more for Christmas gifts. Coincidently this cd is for the "younger" crowd and spreading the word to that crowd is key because you can not be "too young" to develop cancer.
worth every cent.......2004-09-27
everyone should own this comp because A) proceeds benefit various cancer organizations and B) the bands are awesome. All of the acoustic tracks, whether is be Staylight Run/TBS/Motion City Soundtrack etc., are worth the 11$ are their own. Also, i think comps. give people the opportunity to hear some bands they may never find on their own (like Murder By Death). Overall this cd is an excellent buy and worth ever cent.
Great Album For a Great Cause!.......2004-09-26
I bought this album for two reasons: 1) All of the Proceeds go towards the fight against cancer. 2) The music is great. Many of the comps that have come out this summer have been somewhat disappointing for me. This is just not the case with "In Honor."
This album has a little bit for everyone. From the moving intro to the end of both cds you can feel that this album means something to those who worked on it. It is not just a bunch of emo kids complaining. You can tell that every track was specifically selected for its meaning, which makes for a very heartfelt album.
I have been a huge supporter of the Sean McGrath fund since finding out about it in March. I was extremely saddened to hear of Sean's passing when it happened and I have continued to support the fund. It is uplifting to see such great bands joining together to support a great cause and two great charities.
I suggest everyone go and BUY a copy of this album and not just download it. I know that everyone who likes the type of punk/emo/hardcore music that Vagrant Records puts out, will love this album. And if you don't like it or are not familiar with it, you should still buy it because it really has music for anyone who is a fan of music. Great music for a great cause!

Customer Reviews:
An interesting collection, one to play all the way through.......2006-08-30
This collection has metal, thrash, hip-hop, blue grass/southern rock, and pop all on one disc. I like the whole disc, but I really do like the heavier songs on here. With Prong, Rage, and Korn amongst others, this album gives me more than enough reason to spend the 1 cent that I did for this album. I have had it for about 4-5 years now, picked it up from amazon for a penny then. It is to your benifit to take advantage of this deal. The Prong Track here "Corpus Delecti" is the only place this appears, not on any album before this...so it was a no brainer for me to get. Pick this album up, it is worth it.
Good variety.......2006-02-01
I was actually working at a music store when this came out and it was in a selection of CDs to play. I would take the CD system off random and listen to just this disc all the way through.
Good.......2003-12-15
I think this is real good. There are great bands on here. Rock music fans will like this. I think almost all the songs are good but some are just ok.

Worth picking up.......2000-10-23
I was quite impressed with this cd. Theres a lot of talent on here. My personal favorite is Violent Generation by Brutality. It's easily the best instrumental i've ever heard. It's a shame they didnt make a soundtrack for Traces of Death II which in my opinion had better death metal. But in any case, this is worth buying. Get the movies too!!!
one hour of relapse and nuclear blast bands jamming together.......2000-05-07
this cd is awesome! one hour of relapse and nuclear blast bands jamming together. if you like mtv, stay away!
compilation of all compilations... next to _Gummo_'s s/track.......2000-05-02
The only movie soundtrack that tops this one is the _Gummo_ soundtrack. This has tracks by three of my favorite bands: Repulsion, Mortician, and Pungent Stench. This is the only Repulsion song that you're going to find that is still in print. That alone makes this a required purchase.
once you hear this get the movie too.......1999-12-05
awesome bands on this disc and goes long well with the movie i got this first hard to believe then the movie to see them scenes put to the background o fmusic like this its truly amazing thanks
