Customer Reviews:
Angela Gossow is beautiful...the Music is great, too!.......2007-02-19
Ever since Angela Gossow joined Arch Enemy in 2001, the band has moved in a postive direction. Doomsday Machine is Gossow's third studio album with Arch Enemy, and it is a great step forward in the band's career. Unfortunately, guitarist Christopher Amott chose to leave the band for personal reasons after the recording but Fredrik Akesson soon replaced him. Michael Amott's vision for Arch Enemy has continued with melodic Death Metal and Arch Enemy have made a great name for themselves with a relentless tour schedule after the recording of this album.
Doomsday Machine starts out with a great intro called Enter the Machine. Taking Back my Soul starts with great riffs, and once again Angela's vocals sound very powerful. Nemesis and My Apocalypse are the two main singles from this album. One of the best songs present is Mechanic God Creation. The song progresses very nicely and the riffs are unforgettable. Machtkamph is a fan favorite at live shows, and Slaves of Yesterday is the closer of the album.
After seeing Arch Enemy live numerous times since the release of Anthems of Rebellion, it is clear that this band has a lot of talent. Unfortunately, fans will not be able to see the Amott Brothers unleash hellish riffs and have solo duels on stage anymore. For those who have not viewed `Love Apocalypse,' please do it in the near future. Angela Gossow has a great stage performance and the band proves that they can perform at a top level. In my opinion, Wages of Sin is the opus of Arch Enemy, but this album is clearly a step forward from the Anthems of Rebellion release. Also, Angela Gossow is one good looking woman who can perform lead growling vocals better than a lot of men. If that will not get you to check out this band, than I do not know what will. Enjoy!
Their best since Wages of Sin!.......2007-02-07
There are 2 sides of the legacy of Arch Enemy through my observations! Their is Johan's side (former vocalist) and Angela's side. Either way, i'm on no one's side! I like AE with both singers, different but still rocks balls! There's a lot of immaturity in some of the fans, and here's why I see it that way...If you're on Johans's side, you're true to the underground, you're a "true metal head"...but, if you're on Angela's side, you're "poser" or a "mallcore kid"(whatever the hell that means). To me, they just despise the change, and assume that AE searched for a vocalist to grasp the media attention that they DESERVE. So what if they did, Angela may be a blonde petite female, but she's got some lungs that some male metal vocalists lack! This album Doomsday Machine is a deluxe effort of good melodic death metal, amazing solo work, bold intensity, and great vocal range, to me Angela masters the art of coordinating highs and lows. As soon as the CD blurred the introduction I knew right away that this album was gonna blow my mind away, and I was right! I don't give a flip who criticizes my opinion because it stands SOLID! As for the previous efforts before Angela's appearance, they still have my attention and that will continue! Arch Enemy as a whole, before/after is just balls out METAL!!!
Arch Enemy - The Best !.......2007-01-15
I'm sure that all metal fans will be surprised with this band and with what a girl can do in the vocals.
Powerfull and tecnical metal music for your ears.
If I could, I would say: Complete satisfaction or your money back!
Anything you could want from an extreme metal band.......2007-01-06
A supersexy female vocalist with such force in her voice she puts most male death vocalists to shame, Angela Gossow somehow manages to balance her undeniable power with lyrical clarity and an uncanny sense of melodicism. The guitarists play some Metallica-esque riffing that combines old school thrash and power metal with a new sound. The guitar solos are technical shred but also highly melodic and so memorable they stick in your head for days. The drumming is intense but also pushes the songs in a forward-moving groove. The songs demonstrate a good understanding of form and structure. They lyrics are empowering, and the chorus hooks are so catchy they rival the best classic metal sing along songs even with the death vocals. This band is everything you could want if you're a fan of melodic, thrash-influenced, uplifting death metal.
It's aighty.......2007-01-03
There are a few good songs and a few quite annoying ones. Overall I like it, don't get me wrong.

Product Description
Here we are again... Doomsday Afternoon, our magnum opus. This art rock concept album is our first to utilize a small chamber orchestra (comprised of members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic) as well as a few special guests. The music is essentially one long song cycle broken up into two acts. Angry, passionate, melodic, funny, pretentious, tragic with plenty of instrumental freakouts... For those who wanted more music along the lines of "Chupacabras" this is for you. We've been crafting this long winded rock extravaganza for the last year and now we are happy and proud to unleash it upon the world. It is truly our "Thick As A Brick" or "Scenes From A Memory". Embrace our dark wave of progressive music and decide where you will be on doomsday afternoon.
Customer Reviews:
An amazing album.......2007-07-03
Once again Phideaux sets the bar even higher and creates a moody, beautiful concept album of recurring/overlapping themes (and effective use orchestral instruments as well). Easily some of the best new music I've heard this decade, this album incorporates killer melodies/songwriting, with creative arrangements and production... totally compelling and addictive. It's dark and deep yet fun at the same time, growing on you more with each listen. The influence of music like Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, and early Genesis is there but Phideaux's unique musical personality really shines through. Art rock at it's best, magical and passionate. It's been quite a while since new music made an impact on me like this.
Simply a masterpiece.......2007-07-03
I am a fan of all Phideaux's music, but Doomsday Afternoon has instantly become my favorite. It is simply a masterpiece. I highly highly recommend it!

A new twist on an old classic.......2007-01-26
I think this is a must have for the average metalhead. The musicianship is outstanding as always for Flotsam and Jetsam. A band that certainly didn't achieve the commercial success that they were very capable of. I have been a fan since the beginning. This, their first release, is fairly raw as far as recording quality, but awesome nonetheless. You can really hear their Sabbath, Judas Priest, and of course Iron Maiden influences in this one. Lots of dueling guitars and harmonys. And Eric "A.K." Knutson's wailing vocals are rivaled by only a few in my humble opinion. The bonus tracks and unreleased material in this re-release are a blast from the past also. They are raw, no doubt, but it is refreshing to hear the beginnings of a band that is still releasing albums as recent as last year's "Dreams of Death". This is an excellent buy, no doubt about it. Bonus DVD also.
An unbelievable reissue.......well worth the small price!!!!!.......2006-12-08
A definite addition to your metal collection.......Flotsam & Jetsam's debut released in 1986 'Doomsday For The Deceiver' stands out as an important album in metal. Not perfectly written and arranged but a necessity for the Flotsam fan. Here we find the origins of (soon to be Metallica bassist) Jason Newsted as truly fronting the band as the main lyricst and spokesperson. Eric A.K. singing out those high pitches, Kelly Smith thumping away with a style of his own and Mike Gilbert and Ed Carlsson trading off solos so nicely.
Most of the tracks are arranged great with two epics back to back 'Doomsday For The Deceiver' and 'Metalshock' that will leave you speechless. But as I've metioned there are some that are not so great. The one that stands out as the biggest disappointment is 'Fade To Black' the shortest number on the album. It sounds like a different band, completely horrible and worthless. And then as the album rounds off it does become generic with the song 'Der Fuhrer' and the boring instrumental 'Flotzilla'. These songs do not offer much to the ear. So with keeping that in mind this album really is only about 4 stars.
Now fast foward 20 years and we have a remixed and remastered edition for the fans. And I must say the hero of the day is the original producer who also remixed/remastered the album the one and only Bill Metoyer. A huge credit goes to him. What an awesome job he did!!!!!!!!!
So disc 1 is the original album with bonus tracks, disc 2 is the remixed/remastered version of the debut(also with bonus tracks) which brings me to where your money will truly be spent. Disc 3 is a dvd which is about 90 minutes long chock full of performances that you would never get to see anywhere else. Old footage of the boys rocking out in various place(please see description). The quality is low budget but that will not matter to a fan.
So get yours horns up and enjoy this beautiful 20th anniversary edition of 'Doomsday For The Deceiver'.
WOW! What an improvement!.......2006-11-30
The new mix and mastering of Doomsday is amazing! It's so clean, it sounds like it could have been recorded this year. I'm hearing things I never noticed before, and this is after listening to the album for 20 years! If you don't have this CD, only buy this version. If you already have it, trade in your copy and get this one. You still get the original with the Iron Tears Demo, and a 2nd disc with the Remix/Remastered version and the Metal Shock Demo. Plus, the DVD is pretty cool. There's a live show from 1985 with 4 unreleased songs, an interview, a cheesy music video, and a picture montage. It's funny to see Jason Newsted with his poofy hair back in the days before he joined Metallica. Hopefully, a remix/remaster of No Place for Disgrace will be ready in 2008 for it's 20th Anniversary.

An Underdog's Best.......2006-05-06
This album was really great for the underdogs of thrash metal back in the era. Hammerhead gets things going and it is just non stop until thier epic title track. I reccommend this album to anyone that is looking to listen to something else rather than your basic Metallica or Megadeth cds. Enjoy!!!!
High Screams.......2005-08-18
This album will blow you away with some amazing high screams.Eric A.K. has the highest high screams in metal along Roberto Tiranti(Labyrinth)ever. There is not one bad song on this album, they all rule. The song Doomsday For The Deceiver will knock you out. This is Jason Newsted's first band,it's a bummer he became dumb to go join crapy Metallica. This is an awesome power thrash album.Get this album and No Place For Disgrace, their first two albums and there only two good albums.
Zander has a point.......2005-04-05
Compared to...oh...Master of Puppets, Reign in Blood, Peace Sells, or Among the Living, this might seem like the worst thrash album of 1986. But let me remind you that...I believe it was Kerrang!...gave this album 6 out of 5 stars, the only album to ever garner that kind of review, at least up to the early '90s! I don't know how anyone can listen to the album's opener, Hammerhead, and NOT fall for it immediately. Sure it's pure thrash metal with very few innovations, save for one Hell of a bassist/songwriter in Newsted. But ya know what? It kicks your ass, period. Doomsday for the Deceiver has everything you'd expect from a metal band, just maybe not in their debut! A 9 and a half minute title track? Not in a debut, baby. F'nJ are criminally underrated, and it's time they got the respect they deserve. Metalheads, pick this up and you will not be disappointed. And as for Zander knocking the production, I have the original pressing for this CD and its guitars sound pretty good, so maybe got another copy of it.
True classic.......2004-04-15
I don't care how old this album is, it is truely one of the classic thrash albums of all time. Jason's bass is incredible, you'd never hear him like this again, Lars and James wouldn't allow that. The songs are simple and lacks the complexity of today's death/thrash bands but still the 1st song Hammerhead would kick the butt of many of them. The only bad thing about it is the vocals are sometimes too girlish. It sounds like you're listening to Poison or Skidrow or any other sh** like that. A great example of 80's thrash to remember how it all started.
Nearly 20 years old and still as fresh as ever.......2003-10-14
Flotsam and Jetsam burst onto the thrash metal scene with this awesome debut almost 20 years ago, and produced a classic piece of thrash metal that still sounds as fresh and inventive now as it did then.
Their only album before Jason Newstead "left to join the girl scouts", to quote F&J themselves :), Doomsday is a masterpiece of riffs, speed, thundering bass and inventive guitar licks. And the drums aint have bad either!
Vocals are less mature than later efforts like Quatro and Drift, but Eric AK was singing for a quite different genre of metal in Doomsday (and it does suit the music very well).
Even after scores and scores of listens, my ears can still find new guitar licks amongst the pace - whilst it may lack the technical complexity of death metal like Nile's In their Darkened Shrines or Cryptopsy's And Then You'll Beg, this album is still filled with excellent songs and is much easier to get into it and the aforementioned albums.
Every track is great - there's no filler on this album. And its a crying shame that Flotsam and Jetsam never achieved the success that titles like Doomsday and Drift deserved, whilst bands like Metallica made a fortune by turning their backs on the genre that gave them a platform.
So where better to start your Flotsam and Jetsam collection than with their classic debut. If you are a fan of later Flotsam albums like Drift, High or My God, then Doomsday will be an interesting change of pace. If you are a thrash fan in general, then you'll simply love this.

Before "Jaws" there was the "Doomsday Machine"..........2007-05-18
Steven Spielberg's Jaws has one of the most recognizable movie themes ever..the shark theme. But the "da-dum da-dum" music that made John Williams's career was already done ten years earlier...and is on this on this soundtrack.
The Star Trek episode The Doomsday Machine featured an ominous machine was the sci fi equivalent of a giant shark: a silent, big, grey behemoth that swallowed spaceships whole. The tension was established via the soundtrack by a simple "da-dum" theme. Like "Jaws", it would start slowly and softly and gradually turn up the tempo and the volume.
I think "Doomsday Machine" is a great soundtrack by itself. "Amok Time" is a terrific companion...its a completely different sound with a sixties pseudo-spiritual approach. But the fight theme is a classic. Both of these soundtracks on a single CD make this one a winner.
Star Trek : Volume 2.......2007-01-17
Star Trek music is great if you like the television series. I grew up with Star Trek in the late 70's and 80's watching reruns and videos with my dad that he had recorded off of t.v. Two of my favorite episodes are featured here on "Volume 2". "The Doomsday Machine" and "Amok Time". These are classics of the Star Trek juggernaut. It is different just listening to the music. You understandably hear things that you otherwise would not hear while watching an episode. "Volume 2" sounds like it was recorded in the 60's. 1967 to be precise. What I mean to say is that when the music was recorded there were limitations as far as recoding equipment goes. It really sounds like a 1960's soundtrack but is unique in it's approach. As far as I know, this is not a remastered cd and I can tell. I wish they would have boosted up the levels and made it louder. A little more bass would make this a great sounding cd but don't let that stop you from buying it. It is a really great soundtrack that no sci-fi fan should be without.
Good, classic Sci-Fi TV Music.......2006-01-06
Music composers Sol Kaplan and Gerald Fried are two of the better music writers for television back in the late 1960's. Both were famous for scores for other things (Kaplan for "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" and Fried for "Gilligan's Island"), but showed that they could create music for a then new project: Star Trek.
Kaplan's score for "The Doomsday Machine" emphasized what was going on in each scene, underscoring how tension packed the episode was when it was made in 1967. (With the Special Effects that are available now, if they ever redo Star Trek, this is one episode that would seriously "amp up" the tension!!)
Fried, on the other hand, used his impressive Jazz training to show Mr. Spock in his "pon farr" state, and also to give the previously never seen before Planet Vulcan an alien atmosphere. Of course, the famous music for the fight scene between Spock and Kirk has been imitated often, but never topped.
An excellent CD for music and Classic TV fans.
"Kaplan & Fried composers that felt the pulse of the series".......2002-01-08
Neil Norman(executive producer), just keeps cranking them out...take for instance "STAR TREK:ORIGINAL TV SOUNDTRACK("The Cage" & "Where No Man Has Gone Before")(GNPD-8006)...the legendary Alexander Courage shares his talent for scoring with his famous Sci-Fi opening theme, every cue has the Courage signature.
For this "Volume Two" from episodes "THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE"(Kaplan) and "AMOK TIME"(Fried), the creator of Star Trek Gene Roddenberry chose two veterans Sol Kaplan and Gerald Fried...both composers use of full orchestra was both rewarding and beneficial to the plot and substance of the series...although Fried's cues were darker in nature, gave us a feeling transformation into another time and place...while Kaplan's composition showed the audience what loss and despair could do to any human being...a highlight is "THE PROCESSIONAL"(Track 20) and "THE CHALLENGE"(Track 21), memorable cues that leaves one remembering that particular episode of the series...both composers hit the mark...dead on.
You might enjoy other Star Trek albums from GNP Crescendo ~ "Star Trek:Original TV Series Sound Effects"(GNPD-8010)..."Star Trek:The Next Generation:Encounter At Farpoint"(GNPD-8012)..."Star Trek:The Next Generation Volume Two"(GNPD-8026)...all worthy of a good listen.
Total Time: 52:35 on 25 Tracks ~ GNP/Crescendo GNPD-8025 ~ (1991)
Tremendously inventive, totally surprising........2001-01-09
I was astonished to see this music actually available. Being somany, many years since the first production date, I would hardly haveexpected to find something preserved so accurately. This is, in fact aperfect recording. The music itself is really astonishing. Ratherthan an endless trundling out of the Star Trek theme, Sol Kaplan comesup with a collection of brilliant orchestral minatures in which hedisplays an absolute and total command of large scale orchestralwriting. I would guess his major influences would be Sibelius, Mahler, and probably Richard Strauss, but you would have to also certainlyinclude Edgar Varese and possibly Jacob Druckmann. Some of his ideasappear to spring from a probably uncatalogued collection of martialthemes, but his ability to paint vivid and powerful colours is likenothing I have heard before. Some of the themes reach really deep andwill endure for many decades to come. The way he ties in the StarTrek theme itself is very clever and elegant, making quite a trick inthe tail towards the end of the piece... What on earth has this dearfellow done since, or before? I am very, very impressed with this andwould absolutely recommend it to anyone, even classical music buffs.

Seminal in the second Industrial Revolution--the one with grimly foreboding vocals, scary synth sounds, and rat-at-at machine gun rhythms--Skinny Puppy have arguably become as influential as predecessors such as Cabaret Voltaire. Among the faithful, any noise from the Puppy camp is cause for celebration, and Doomsday is no exception. The first full-on collaboration between founding members cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre since the band's 1995 dissolution, the disc offers no new material but instead draws on tracks from albums like Last Rights and Too Dark Park. Taking advantage of new technology to add layers of triggered samples and the like, Key and Ogre grimace and grunt through "The Choke," "Testure," and "Worlock" with all the malevolent rhythmic spasms and fiendish vocals one would expect from a band commenting on slavery, fascism, and, in "Convulsion," "hate disease." Fans will find the abrasive textures redemptive while non-fans will simply find the album to be the sonic equivalent of being trapped in a haunted insane asylum the night of a full moon. Still, the audio clarity is exceptional and Key and Ogre are in top soapbox apocalypse mode. Excedrin, anyone? --Shawn Conner
Album Description
In August of 2000, cEvin and Ogre reunited for an extremely rare one-off reunion show at the Doomsday Festival in Dresden, Germany. This live show is now available on cd and will surely please all of Skinny Puppy's long standing fanbase. 14 tracks in all featuring 'Love In Vein', 'Dig It', 'Convulsion' & Worlock'.

Vey good but.............................2005-09-12
It lacks the emotion of Ain't It Dead Yet. Don't get me wrong, theres plenty of emotion on this performance but certainly not the same caliber as Ain't It Dead Yet? The best tracks on here would probably have to be Love In Vein, Inquisition, Worlock, Testure and Harsh Stone White. My other big complaint would have to be that the drums on Deep Down Trauma Hounds lacked the pounding, heavy sound that you would expect from this song. Other than that though this is a great live cd and I highly recommend it.
Dwane is certainly missing.......2004-02-13
Not a bad cd. For those of us who care, there could be no better news than skinny puppy's return. I don't need to tell serious fans to buy this, if they haven't already they will. But given how amazing Aint it dead Yet is (there first live album- which has an outstanding set list and in many cases superior versions to the studio albums), this record is disapointing. people who are just exploring Skinny Puppy should definetly pick up Ain't it Dead Yet before this one. That ranks amoung their best, studio or live. Although there are some great songs on here, the overall set list is just ok. Alot of great songs missing and alot of songs present I skip even on the albums.
With Dwanes absence, this album basically is prerecorded tape of the music with cevin drumming along and Ogre singing minus the filtered vocals. They haven't played in years and it shows. Had this been a tour rather than a one off performance I'm sure by the 6th or 7th show we would have gotten a much stronger album.
But all things being equal, it's still fun sometimes.
AWESOME!!!!.......2004-01-11
What a vibrant energetic CD this is. It's amazing to see the energy SP still have even years after their "break up." The song selection is great and it is nice to hear the live versions of some of these songs for the first time (at least for me) Many of them are even better than the original studio versions. I can't say enough good things about this album. It is solid, consistent, well produced and mixed, and I feel a step above the live material from Back and Forth 3&4 and Ain't It Dead Yet. Sorry there was no material from the Process, but my understanding this was for legal reasons. BRAP ON!
What more is there to say?!?.......2002-05-30
The newest installment from the industrial band who set the standard of the genre. It's the live recording of the Orkus Festival 2000: Doomsday which was held in Dresden, Germany in August of 2000... and no, it's not a bootleg, it's the real deal! Straight from the sound board!! One day, one place-fans flew in from all parts of the world to be a part of musical history. An event which will forever be heralded by followers as the most famed event since the `Last Rights' tour in `92.
Playing songs from practically every full-length release, SP delivers the feeling of being live at one of their shows on CD.
One downfall for the release was the subtraction of the track "Hardset Head" at the last minute-one song that has never been played live. Stemming from a senseless legality battle most likely. There evidently is a downloadable version somewhere on the www though... happy hunting!
Overall, the live CD is a must for the avid fan, or a great place to start for the curious listener. eEL
Pretty good, but a little disappointing.......2002-01-05
This CD is the thing every SP fan has been waiting for--finally Skinny Puppy have reunited temporarily and made a CD of their one-off live show in Dresden, Germany. This CD is pretty cool, it has a great selection of choice Skinny Puppy hits and is very intense and in-your-face but on the other hand is a little weak. The first thing about it that could use some improvement is the vocals. Although lots of people liked the fact that Orge didn't use that much voice distortion on this album, I think that he *should* have used the same voice distortion he used on the CD versions of these songs. "Testure" and "Dig it" are 2 of my fave SP songs but because they don't have the trademark scary vampire-like vocal distortion on the CD versions and are sung with Ogre's normal voice, they don't sound half as good. The same goes for many other tracks except for "Killing Game" and "Harsh Stone White" which are performed pretty much exactly the same as their CD versions.
Another thing that could use improvement is the albums' artwork. The booklet is only 2 pages long (not counting the back+front covers) and comprises of a mishmash of blurred and altered live photos from the concert. Its kinda cool and artistic, but in my opinion I think the booklet should have had more pages in it and more normal, clear photos and putting in the songs lyrics wouldn't have hurt either.
Still, I am not completely disappointed with this CD because of its merits-good track selection, excellent instrumental playing, and the 6 or so tracks that are sung the same as on the CD. In conclusion, I'd say this is a nice treat for any Skinny Puppy fan, new or old, but I'd suggest you take a listen at your local CD store first.

Review.......2007-03-09
I was happy with the cd because I contained some of the star trek music from the original series that I did not have before and thought was unavailable.
Other than the spoken word intro by "Capt. Kirk" I don't care much for the opening theme music and it is included on every soundtrack recording of the original series by default.
I was particularly interested in the music from "The Corbormite Maneuver". It had most of the music from that episode, but I was disappointed that one of the most important arrangements (in my mind) was missing. It makes me wonder who put the soundtrack together and what they were thinking. Maybe they had the "good enough for goverment work" attitude. Anyway, the arrangement I refer to is where spock first gets the alien manequin to come up on the viewer. The music also appears in "City on the edge of Forever" when the guardian starts playing back earth history. It probably appears in other places, but the real star trek geeks ought to know the music I at referring to.
The Charlie X portion of the soundtrack was quite the treat for me also. Again, it included music that I really liked that later appeared in other episodes.
The Doomsday Machine music was redundant because it appears on another soundtrack in full. On this soundtrack you only get a small portion of that episodes music.
The Mudd's Women section also has music that I like alot. However, It is one of my least favorite episodes even though I have always like the Harry Mudd character.
Excellent Classisal Music!.......2003-10-09
I just want to recomend this c.d.I am a big fan of the orginal Star Trek series and recently started buying the D.V.D.s and when I heard the music for the Corbomite Maneuver boy I just had to have it.
All the peices are excellent and I would recomend this album to any classical music lover.
Sadly these tv composers where not really accepted by the classical crowd but all to their loss not ours as because if these composers where obscure 19th centuary finds they would be climbing over each other to hear them.
Trust me you will enjoy them.
Some of the most memorable music from the series........2003-07-20
When listening to this music you can almost see the episode unspooling in your mind. I don't think there is a Star Trek fan out there who wouldn't want these recording in their collections. Recommended.
This is The Real Thing.......1999-12-10
The most important thing to know about this CD is that, although it is newly recorded, it is extremely faithful to what you heard in the show. Fred Steiner re-created the original Star Trek orchestrations, especially for the tracks he composed back in 1966. You'd swear that The Corbomite Maneuver was from the original soundtrack, only with better audio quality. He was less precise in duplicating The Doomsday Machine by Sol Kaplan, but Steiner's version is good in it's own right. A definite buy for fans of the classic music.

'Catchy' doesn't begin to describe this.......2007-06-15
Chrome pipes burbling out exhaust gases? Check. Cigarettes? Check. Beer induced gut belches? Check. Lots of references of sex and chicks? Check.
So strap on your leathers and hit the pavement with Chrome Division's 'Doomsday Rock 'n Roll'.
This album was the surprise of the year for me. I'd heard about it for about a year before it came out and didn't have great expectations for whatever reason. Boy was I wrong. On my first listen I wasn't that blown away with it. But there was some part of some song that was stuck in my head. It wouldn't go away. I finally had to listen to the damn thing again. And again and again and again until it felt like all the songs were stuck in my head at the same time. As the title of this review states, calling this album 'Catchy' doesn't even touch the tip of the iceburg.
From the crunchy dun-dun-dunna-nunna riffs to the cheesy biker lyrics and all the various biker lifestyle sound effects spinkled throughout the album, Doomsday Rock 'n Roll dares you to sit still while you blast it from your peferable listening device.
This is not just another side project of Norwegian metallers looking to make an extra buck. This is geniunely a great album. So invite your buddies over, throw on this CD, crack some beers and let the good times roll. Oh, and for driving music it just doesn't get better than this! 4.5 stars. TROUBLE WITH THE LAW!!
Powerful, stripped down rock & roll!!.......2006-09-01
Seems there is a lot going on in Europe and the Scandanavian countries these days. This is powerful, stripped down rock & roll. Very strong writing, vocals and musicianship. Hard hitting, in your face. Sounds a bit like an uptempo version of Brand New Sin. I'm hoping that this is not a one time side project. Highly recommended.
.......2006-08-28
This record rocks really hard; you can feel the stench of fresh beer after each cut. Shragath of Dimmu Borgir-who handles guitars on this LP- has put out a band consisting of members of other lesser known rock bands to form Chrome Division, a band that plays exclusive dirty rock and does it well. A quick obvious reference would be Motorhead, which seems to be one of the main influences here-both music and vocals-wise, but the band offers a little more in terms of totality. This is a really fun rock n roll record that wisely doesn't take itself seriously and takes you back to the old days when rock music was better recognized. So put on your leather jacket, get on your motorcycle and crank up Chrome Division for a guaranteed good ol' time.
The Begining of The End.......2006-08-09
Shagrath is well known from his band Dimmu Borgir, and everybody knows that he have his soul on the devils left hand. But not everybody knows that there's a different side to this guy. He has his heart for dirty Rock and Roll.
Until now, this was an unexposed side to him. During the summer of '04 he summoned his long time friends Lex Icon of The Kovenant and Luna of Ashes to Ashes. Respectively on drums and bass guitar. Suddenly they were a trio. During months of rehearsing and beer drinking, the band took shape. Chrome Division was formed.
Then came the task of finding the right vocalist. They needed a front man with a real in-your-face attitude. Several guys were considered, but none could meet the demands. Then Luna contacted Eddie Guz, from the rock'n roll band The Carburetors.
January '05 this sneering bulldog entered the rehearsing place, and he fitted the band like a glove. Furthermore he was the only one who had long time experience in the field of rock'n roll.
On this point they were close to perfect. It was only missing that last ingredient. And for the extra hot spice Ricky Black was dragged in. And from day one he delivered amazing guitar bending solos. From this point it was evident that Chrome Division was to be more than just a side project.
From now on they were like a force, spawning stripped down groovy rock'n roll, with a primitive attitude. Strongly determined to go their own ways. To put it short, the label they have put on themselves is Doomsday Rock'n Roll.
A slight drawback was in summer '05 when Lex Icon had to leave the band. No hard feelings, but there were circumstances that made him unable to rehearse. However the replacement was imminent. Tony from the singular band Minas Tirith, came pronto. He's a steady and deadly precise drummer. So the band continued even stronger.
These five Norwegian road bandits, have the ability to grasp the finer elements of their influences and mould them into their own diverse sound. In other words: The Smell of Hot Leather and Burning Rubber... Chrome Division enters Panzer studio in Oslo, the 4th of December, to finally put down their rough, ballbreaking songs on tape, and create a monster debut album. Until now there are 11 tracks that are finished, and they've been recorded in a pre-production. Local bullies and gangsters in both the Metal and Rock environment have been embracing the songs.
CHROME DIVISION LINE UP:
Shagrath - Guitars
Luna - Bass guitar
Eddie Guz -Vocals
Ricky Black - guitars
Tony White- Drums
best album of the year.......2006-08-09
The whole album delivers in its brutal style of heavy classic rock n roll. The band shows great musicianship and songwriting skills of a well defined band already in its debut album. Seriously pick this one up, you will not regret it.

CLASSICK!.......2003-01-07
If you dont own this album-BUY IT! I heard about Doomsday over a year ago, but I didnt pick this up till this past summer. It's amazing. All gangsta songs with Doomsday's signature sick twist to it. The lyrics are great, the guest appearances are off the chain (I only wish Lynch could have been on this one too), and the Blue Ragg song is real good too. Best songs are Dress Code, Warfare, Redrum, and Day Of The Dead. Infact Dress Code and Warfare alone are reasons to buy this cd. I was a little dissapointed when I heard The Plague because it cant even be compared to this. Snatch you up one today!
