Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Excellent live album.......2006-08-02

This is the first Mortician album that I've heard. For those of you looking to check these guys out, let me just say this; MINIMALISTIC DEATH METAL..!Finally! zombie massacre features almost 40 tracks (sometimes, the same twice but at different concerts)of less than 2 minute songs which start out with samples of obscure horror movies or the vocalist making some funny remarks. The live sound is suprisingly good (probably better than the studio albums, as death metal usually sounds better in concert than in the studio). This is pretty good and these guys actually have a fairly original sound. Best songs, the driller killer, drilling for brains, martin the vampire, worms, the crazies, and silent night, deadly night.

Some people argue that Mortician is too simple, and take the "brutality" concept too far. Well, those people don't have to listen to this music! Yes, Mortician has never focused it's sights on the technical side of death metal music. But they have certainly given a select crowd exactly what they want: the heaviest music available. Mortician combines the primary aspects of death metal with the blast-beating feel of grindcore. While some of their songs contain a more hard-rock feel with the drums laying metal beats over the down-tuned guitar/bass and super low death-grunting/growling, most of the time -- at one point or another -- they just can't resist the brutality of blast-beats. This, along with the fact that they use too many film samples, is the only thing I might complain about when it comes to this wonderful band. Which brings me to my next point. On this album -- a 37-track feast of live recordings from 2000 to 2002 -- there are few samples before the songs. And those that do accompany the band as intros are much shorter than the album versions. This, combined with the number of songs and the fact that it is live, makes Zombie Massacre Live probably the best Mortician album available. Some of their studio albums may have slightly better recording quality, but with this you get a lot more bang for your buck, dipping into more than one album with the songs that are included. Indeed it's a must-buy for any Mortician fan or metalhead who is interested in the band.

For those fans who are wondering, the line-up is: Will Rahmer on bass/vocals, Ron Kachnic on guitar, and Roger Beaujard on drums (yes, live drums on this album).

1 out of 5 stars Your F&^%ing kidding right?.......2005-03-13

This has to be a joke, no band could possibly be this terrible and still have a roving group of intellectually void rejects known as fans. And whats with the billy badass "i'm trying to be intimidating but really i could get my ass handed to me by a 12 year old" stereotypical cover that looks like an abortion. Come on face the facts people, these guys both suck and blow, they have no good songs i mean how the hell do they even get gigs, god i f%$#ing hate this "band".

1 out of 5 stars Come on,mortician is the worse band of all times!.......2005-02-26

I find quite disgusting and upsetting how people can listing to this filth and consider to be deathmetal. Mortician's "zombie apocalypse live" basically sounds like one long song (if you can call them that) because all of their "music" are alike and its HORRIBLE.Hell, even rap sounds more intelligent then listining to mortician even listining to babys hearing cans can be more pleasent then bearing with mortician's "music" and if you consider yourself a real metalhead and a deathmetal purist and yet enjoy listining to mortician? Then your the biggest poser i've ever known... You want to listing to brutal deathmetal bands that has deep vocals? try chrisdenied, pustulated, disgorge, putrid pile, pocket p*ssy hash pipe, inhuman dissiliency, kretan and much others who are much better then mortician and can actullie play unlike mortician but you want melodic and yet brutal deathmetal with technicality? Try possessed, death, vomitory, children of bodom,dying-fetus,cryptopsy,spawn of possesion, necrophagist, obituary, decrepitbirth, mortal decay, vile, nile and much others. My point is ? Mortician isn't deathmetal because it isn't even music. I dont recommend. Death to poser deathmetal!

5 out of 5 stars Wow brutal.......2004-09-16

This might be my favorite Mortician CD, I think most of these songs sound better here recorded live than they do in the studio. I have never seen Mortician live before but from the way they sound on this disc it sounds like they are incomprehendibly brutal. I like Will Rahmer's introductions before the songs he is hilarious and truly brutal. If you don't like Mortician, you dont like brutal death metal. If you like truly brutal death metal than buy this disc it will shred your mind in half. Note: this cd is not for softcore death metal fans, casual death metal fans, or posers. Hail Mortician!!
