Schenker's Best .......2007-05-01

I've been enchanted with this album since the summer of 1984 (2 years after its release). It is definitely a summer album (see Desert Song), and the band / combination of Michael & Graham Bonnett is exceptional. Ulcer is hands down my favorite song ever...I challenge anyone who doesn't feel like they could conquer the world listening to this blistering track. Top to bottom, Schenker's best. Listen and enjoy...it's guaranteed.

Pure Michael Schenker.......2006-09-07

Assault Attack is an album full of melodic and burning guitar licks and riffs. It is by far my favorite MSG album because it captures the essence of Michael Schenker's sound and provides the listener with some great songs. All the songs have something to offer. If you like melodic hard rock or are a guitar fan, check out this album.

"Ulcer" alone is worth the price!.......2006-02-23

When "Assault Attack" came out, I remember thinking, "Graham Bonnet? Hmmmm. We'll have to listen closely." The quality of Bonnet's voice is distinctive. Not a great singer but a ballsy vocalist. I'll take 'distinct' over 'technically proficient' any day. Having said all that, it is the _instrumental_ on this album that will tear your head off; "Ulcer." The lead break is one of the fastest, cleanest, most liquid runs off a fretboard this side of Allan Holdsworth with more menace and Teutonic swagger. Back in the day, I was trying to play the solo over and over on the LP, swinging back the tone arm to catch the solo's beginning. Amazing to this day. The other song, noted more for its rhythm guitar work is "Broken Promises." Great syncopation, nice fat, warm rhythm sound, and Graham Bonnet singing his guts out, which is what the tune called for. There is _no_ filler on this album. The rhythm section was killer and Michael's touch and tone was gorgeous. I'm warning you though: that solo in "Ulcer" man! WHEW!

It's probably the best Michael Schenker album ever!!.......2005-09-29

The trick here was the production. In the hands of genius producer Martin Birch, MSG reached a whole new level of efficiency, heaviness and creativity here. The eight songs are extremely good, the production is crisp and clear, you can hear all the lines of bass, guitar and drums. Bonnet is also singing very good, altough the lyrics continued to be bad, I mean REALLY bad (a sad characteristic of MSG albums...).

It's a shame that such line-up, following the best production job ever afforded to Schneker, would not have had the opportunity to perform on a single show! That's it! Bonnet was fired during the first gig! He was always drunk, could not remember previous album's lyrics, a disgrace! Go figure...

Good to see this on CD.......2005-04-28

I bought this back when it came out and it influenced my own guitar playing tremendously.
This CD contains some of MSG's best songs (all of his early work is pretty essential though) and is probably his most consistent CD.

Assault Attack/Rock Will Never Die.......2003-09-13

This is an excellent album & I was very pleased With it. If you like MSG this is an awesome value. Some of the live cuts are a little fast, (drummer's fault) but it still kicks [booty]!

Assault Attack +1 [IMPORT].......2001-07-01

This album should be considered an all time melodic CRUNCHER, why this was not a super seller is beyond me. The mastering is great, Shenker, {flawless as usual], shows just what guitars were made for. The musicians involved couldn't have been hand picked or lucked together any better. If you like MSG at all or like crunch to the wall [melodic, not slammy or stupid]. This is a must have CD. Rating 25 stars.

THE GERMAN WONDER BOY !.......2000-04-14

Michael Schenker was born in Germany in 1955. He was mad famous after playing with British band UFO. BUt, after being freed from UFO limits, he went on into a magnific solo career, where his real talents surfaced. This career was plagued by one of the most amazing ammounts of line-up changes I've ever seen (a thing that, as we know, is a certain formula to finish a band or make it loose credibility. But this ercord has 2 great albuns: one recorded in sutdio, the other is live.

MSG's Finest Studio Album.......2007-05-15

Assault Attack in my opinion is the finest Michael Schenker Group studio album available . The combination of Schenkers guitar playing and Graham Bonnets vocals are perfect together . It's just too bad this is the only full cd they did together . It is a hard rock classic in my book . From start to finish it is truly some of Michael's best guitar playing . It has 9 songs in all , 8 of them are all out rockers ("Assault Attack" , "Searching For A Reason" , "Rock You To The Ground" are my favorites and 1 excellent power ballad "Dancer" . This is the 2000 Japanese remaster , the sound is awesome . It comes in a mini cardboard album jacket and contains the bonus track "Girl From Uptown" .
If you are a Schenker fan or a fan of truly great guitar playing , then this is a cd that you gotta add to your collection.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK IT OUT !!!!!

The best Schenker album..........2000-11-17

This album simply rocks. Although Schenker's first two studio albums were good, I always though Gary Barden was an average singer and bringing in ex-Rainbow man Graham Bonnett was an excellent idea. Bonnett's vocals are powerfully roaring and mix well with Schenker's always smoking guitarwork, and the production is crisp and heavy. Most importantly, the songs are some of Schenker's best, and "Desert Song", "Assault Attack" and "Ulcer" absolutely rip. Sadly, this lineup soon dissolved when Bonnett got hammered and, according to reports, pulled his pants down and started insulting Schenker onstage, and MSG had to bring Gary Barden back in mid-tour. It was good while it lasted...

michael schenker's last classic album..........1999-10-25

up until(and including) this album everything michael schenker put out was worth it's weight in gold! when i heard that graham bonnet was the new singer for msg i couldn't wait to here it! well this record surpassed my expectations, it's heavy and the production still stands up today seventeen years later.songs like "assault attack", "the desert song", and "broken promises" make everything msg did since then seem low budget! i think if schenker would get another singer with a personality like phil mogg or graham bonnet and a producer like eddie kramer or jeff glixman he could make another album like this, otherwise he should stick to playing the skin flute!

One of the best heavy metal albums of all time.......1999-08-01

I reaquired album to get four songs on it which I didn't have on cd or tape. My tape tore up after years of play. I paid a lot to get Samuri, Rock To The Ground, Broken Promises, and ULcer which aren't on my one best of cd. It is well worth the price, however. Micheal plays great on it especially the solo on Desert Song.It is the best I ever heard Graham Bonnet on anything. I like to hear a major band do a cover of Rock You To The Ground because the lyrics are great and it is a killer song.
