4 out of 5 stars Boston Hardcore at it's finest.......2004-05-26

What else can be said about this band? They brought Boston hardcore to the forefront way back in 1985. For close to eighteen years (give or take a few years of absence) SLAPSHOT has been the clear choice representative of Boston Hardcore. When anyone mentions Boston Hardcore, they immediately site SLAPSHOP as the purveyors of a style of hardcore indigent to Boston. Still after all these years, SLAPSHOT can play with the same intensity as their younger counterparts. Choke's signature vocals are as easily recognizable as the insignia for the Boston Bruins. Once you hear it, you know its SLAPSHOT. That is one of the reasons why they have withstood all musical taste changes over the years; they stayed true to what made them who they are today. Their "Digital Warfare" is no exception either. Their tried and true methods of music making is here in this glorious package of ultra aggressive straight edge hardcore. This album is as brutal as ever without so much as a pause. From the first song to the last, hails of grinding guitars work through their three chords and done approach. Choke's metal mincing vocals haven't changed an ounce even though the abuse they have taken is probably immeasurable. To find out where the inception of Boston hardcore occurred, pick up this CD. If you have always been a fan then you should already have it by now.
