Influenced by New York punk bands like the Ramones and Dictators, as well as by traditional heavy metal ensembles, Twisted Sister created brash, simple songs that buzzed with subversive energy, giving the band the appeal of bad-boy cartoon characters. Their third album, Stay Hungry, featured the classic rebel anthem "We're Not Gonna Take It" as well as more uptempo tracks like "Burn in Hell" and "S.M.F." (which, in true metal fashion, stands for "Sick Motherfucker"). No one disputes Twisted Sister's competence level. Simply put, they couldn't play well enough to save their five-year recording career, but frontman Dee Snider's outrageous stage presence and accidentally hilarious lyrics ensured that their time in the limelight was thoroughly entertaining. --Jon Wiederhorn

Can't really explain why I'm tinto these guys since I'm primarilly into Hip Hop but I grew up on their videos!
Don't Knock It Until You've Tried It!!!!.......2007-02-15
You know, it's funny. Most of the people I've run into who trash Twisted Sister do so not so much b/c of the music, but the image. I myself was at one time guilty of this. But if you can move beyond the hideous make-up/costumes and the fact that the band only take themselves seriously about half the time, then you'll discover a truly underappreciated classic in Stay Hungry. TS' music is not about complex song structures or virtuoso musicianship. It's just good, clean and straightforward hard rockin fun, and that is something that is sorely missing in today's music. While the image is a mix of shock rock (Alice Cooper) and glam (New York Dolls), the music is more akin to early speed metal and NWOBHM. And while the songs are consistently hard and heavy, you may be suprised by the level of melodic content that exists as well. Dee Snider, for instance, may not be on the level of vocal gods like Dio, Halford, Dickinson, etc. but he is by far a capable singer and his lyrics are even quite intelligent at times. It should also be noted that the vast majority of the material is written by Mr. Snider alone. Anyway, give Stay Hungry a try. Get over your obsession with expecting music (especially metal) to always be serious and technically impressive, and then sit back and enjoy a solid set of classic metal anthems.
Holy Crap! Forgot all about this one!.......2006-10-03
I had this casette way back when. I was a juvenile rocker when it came out, I was young and dumb and embarrassingly goofy. Now I'm almost 40 and listen to a very wide variety of music. I happened to be at a friend's house and saw that he had this CD. I played it and couldn't believe the A+ songs on it. I'd always remembered Twisted Sister as some sort of gimmicky glam band that I'd listened to as a child.
I still think "We're not Gonna Take It" is a bit over the top, but "Burn in Hell" and "I Wanna Rock" are rock solid songs. "Stay Hungry" reminded me of Y&T - and I rate Dave Meniketti as one of the greatest. "The Price" is an achingly ripping ballad. What vocals!
Well, I didn't skip through any of the songs (at the friend's house) and I bought the CD from Amazon 2 days later. This one only got better with age.
My very first album.......2006-09-24
This was my very first album I got when I was like 5 years old as a kid in the 80s. Whether it's their hilarously chessey music videos or their gruesome appearance, I still kept a morbid curiosity interest in Twisted Sister to this day and last night saw Dee Snider sing on TV. Dee Snider is a big celebrity and actually I think he has pretty decent taste, if only their videos didn't date so bad. This contains a number of classic tracks like the itle track, We're Not Gonna Take It, Burn in Hell, The Beast and S.M.F. While the band may be unintentionally funny, the music works not only as a nostalgia trip but for Dee Snider's celebrity come back, coming off as bad bone Christian metal without being corny about it like Stryper. Yes, Dee Snider testified at the PMRC hearing that he's a Christian believe or not, and I've been attending church regularly lately so know for a fact that that is true. Take it with some self depricating humor because Dee Snider made a comeback in the late 90s and is still a big star.
Stay Hungry (1984).......2006-09-01
While many people know Twisted Sister best, for "We're Got Gonna Take it" and "I Wanna Rock", they had more to offer than just those two songs. Stay Hungry is a very solid metal album. This is one of those albums that demands to be played loud. From the opener "Stay Hungry" through "S.M.F." the album never gets dull. Besides the obivious hits other highlights include the title track, The Price, Horror Teria, Don't Let Me Down, but the album as a whole is very enjoyable. It's to bad that they couldn't maintain their popularity after Stay Hungry, cause Twisted Sister was actually a pretty good band. This album deserves a spot in any reall rock n roll collection.

Twisted Sister - 'Twisted Christmas' (Razor & Tie) .......2007-06-10
Review no. 60. I'll give this CD a four-star rating for effort alone. I mean, when I first heard about this ten track release in advance, I really didn't think that Dee Snider and crew could pull it off. Glad to see that I was wrong. Wanted to catch Twisted Sister last time they were in my town but I didn't get to go. If I ever get to see them again, I really would like to hear them perform one or two of these cuts even on a summer tour. Tunes I was impressed the most with were "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful", "White Christmas", "Silver Bells", the rocking "Deck The Halls" and "The Christmas Song". Personally, I think even patrons that don't usually like metal would enjoy this disc to some extent. A should-have.
I LOVE this Christian music christmas album!!!.......2007-05-07
Twisted Sister BRINGS the christmas feeling year round. (This is a CD to be listened to at any time of the year.) When I listen to it, it makes me feel better. "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" are my favorite songs. Overall, it is an excellent CD. Now, if Twisted Sister would just make another Christian music christmas album for Christmas 2007, then I would be overjoyed.
I loved it.......2007-04-25
I think this album contains my favorite version of "O Come All Ye Faithful." Seriously.
Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted.......2007-02-15
The Good
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" starts off as if the group has softened in their old age. Eventually someone reminds them who they are and the Christmas classic gets pumped up. They even add a Ramones inspired section at the end. "O Come All Ye Faithful" sounds just like "We're Not Gonna Take It;" from the main riff to the note-for-note solo. Twisted Sister's version of "White Christmas" is a far cry from Bing Crosby's. The chugga-chugga riffing and blazing solos are just one of the many differences. A voice from the past is resurrected for the power ballad version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." Dee Snider trades vocals with 80s metal queen Lita Ford on this one. It's almost as if "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" was meant to be a metal song. Everything just falls into place. "The Christmas Song" has sort of that "Burn in Hell" vibe to it.
The Bad
"Heavy Metal Christmas," set to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," is kind of lame as the 12 gifts are replaced with metal clichés.
The Verdict
Yeah it's crazy, it's kooky, and it's twisted, but it's also really fun and enjoyable for 80s metal fans.

This is a great collection of Twisted Sister. I definitely would recommend this to any fan of Twisted Sister. You can't find this type of good rock n' roll anymore!
Cover doesn't say "GREATEST HITS".......2006-11-21
I have been a huge Twisted fan for over 25 years. I watched them evolve from their small club dates in upstate New York to their immense popularity in the mid eighties. I sadly watched as internal turmoil tore this band apart in the late eighties, was pleasantly surprised by their collaboration for "Heroes Are Hards To Find" from Dee's Strangeland movie and impressed by their reunion after 9/11. It was like they never left. However, for those of you who disapprove of this recording, please see that the cover does not say "Greatest Hits". Twisted was not about "greatest hits". They were about great music. Sure, they could have included great cuts like "Come Out And Play" or "Wake Up (the Sleeping Giant" (which may be, admittedly, one of their best tracks). However, they included several "live" tracks which is what makes them special. If you have never seen a "live" show, catch them before it is too late. They are the rare band who are amazing "live". Studio recordings do not do them justice. Okay, so not all of their best songs are included here. If you want all their great music, suck it up and buy their other CD's. You won't regret it. But, what IS here is what they were all about... great band and great music. Live on SMF's...
Twisted Sister Rocks!.......2006-08-30
In continuation of the so-called Reagen Rock years, this compilation lives up to its name. Who doesn't love the groove from "I Wanna Rock"?
It is what it says it is........2006-01-26
People, the name of the CD is "big Hits and Nasty Cuts", not "Twisted Sister's Greatest Hits and Nothing else." As a loooooong time Ts fan, I love the fact that this CD represents the full picture of the band. Sure, they had some huge hits in the hayday of hair metal, but in the late 70s and early 80s, they were one of the most vicious live acts around in terms of their intensity. the live tracks recorded at the Marquee Club in London show just how intense they were before their radio-friendly hits were recorded. I think the name of the CD says it all and no one should be surprised at what they are getting when they buy it. The Cd has equal helpings of their most well-known hits, as well as just enough early live stuff to show you what they sounded like before they were the darlings of MTV.

WOT! Its their BEST.......2007-04-27
I have all of Twisted sisters albums and obviously opinions are like... Stay Hungry has their 2 most recognisable tunes but this is even still more consistently anthemic which is what most people love about this band. My personal belief on why it didn't carry on where Stay Hungry left off is down to a few reason. I don't believe it was a backlash from radio stations in retaliation to Dee's defiance toward the PMRC but more a very poor choice of singles to promote the album. The tracks they chose, "be cruel to your school" and "leader of the pack" are the worst tracks on the album! Elsewhere the title track is as rollicking a metal song as you would here anywhere. You can hear what Dee means when he said he wanted this band to by a hybrid of ACDC and Judas Priest. And there are plenty of great rock & roll chanting anthems like "believe in rock n roll", "I know what you want" etc. For me the stand out tune on this cd is "out on the streets". Everything about it is beautifully constructed and it is a song that Dee should be forever proud for writing. It has an epic build up with a great, melodic chorus. When I first got this release it had Stay hungry on one side and Come out and play on the other. More often than not I would keep fast forwarding Stay Hungry to re-listen to this. Oh yeah. Dieter Dieks (spelling?) who many a rock fan would be familiar with for producing classic Scorpions has given this album an excellent shine and crunch! Regardless of the ordinary singles this album should not have been the failure that it unfortunately was. They're back, but is it too late?
Give it a chance.................2007-04-13
I always seem to be on the fence about this album. I either just enjoy this album or I think it is a really great album. So my rating changes, but I'll make one considering TS' past work. I thought the production quality was great. I think songs like 'Come Out And Play'(great starter song with a fast tempo and awesome guitar work), 'I Believe In Rock 'N' Roll', 'The Fire Still Burns', 'Lookin' Out For #1', and 'Kill Or Be Killed' are the high points. 'Out On the Streets' is also one that should not be overlooked. I like 'Be Chrool To Your Scuel' and I'll play it loud with the rest of them, but it sounds out of place on this album. It didn't help that the video was banned by mTV- by the way, have you seen some of the videos they will air nowadays... And "Be Chrool.." was too graphic for TV????? I know they were going with a "from the streets biker gang" theme for this album, but 'Leader Of The Pack', even though it goes along with the biker gang theme, was a poor choice as a lead single for a highly anticipated album that followed the success of songs like 'I Wanna Rock'. And like "Be Chrool...", it seems out of place when heard with the entire album. 'You Want What We Got' and 'I Believe In You'(a ballad) are okay songs. The bonus song, which was also available on the cassette tape and CD from back in the day, is a descent slow song called 'King Of The Fools'. I do not think any of the songs on here are bad, but I can also understand if people are disappointed with it compared to past albums. I know this is hind sight, but if they would have marketed different songs as singles Twisted Sister's history may have been different.
The best Twisted Sister album ever.......2006-12-08
This is the best Twisted Siser album ever... I just love it, love it and love it. If you are a Twisted Sister fan, you can`t do without
Come Out and Play- fails to live up to Stay Hungry........2006-01-25
Stay Hungry is the best album from Twisted Sister. Come Out and Play is a good album but not the classic metal album like people would have you to believe. Dee Snider and Twisted Sister were on the way out when this album was released. Perhaps my favorite song from this album is Leader of the Pack which is probably why I bought the album. Twisted Sister is one-album wonder with Stay Hungry and their hits "We're Not Gonna Take It", "I wanna rock" and the "The Price".
Not the classic album that people would have you to believe.
It's a good album- but not their best album.
If you want twisted sister at their best- get Stay Hungry.
3.5 stars - Good, but definitely one of their weaker albums.......2005-05-19
Come Out And Play (1985.) Twisted Sister's fourth album.
Twisted Sister released two awesome albums in the early eighties that, while excellent, failed to achieve any mainstream success. Fortunately, the band struck pay dirt when they released their third album, 1984's Stay Hungry. With an onslaught of classic hard rock/metal hits, the album scored points with practically every fan of hard rock. Fans were, needless to say, eagerly awaiting the band's next album. And in 1985, Dee Snider and the guys released their fourth album, Come Out And Play. Did fans of the group get what they were expecting or not? Read on for my review of the album.
As a classic hard rock album, Come Out And Play is a very good album, but as a Twisted Sister album, it's well below the band's usual standards. Essentially, the band has plenty of awesome tracks on the album, but they are mixed in with so many subpar tracks that the album just doesn't hold its own against the earlier albums the band put. The opening track, also the album's title tracks, is one of the band's fastest and most furious rockers, and it's an excellent opener, but sadly, it doesn't speak for the rest of the album. And then comes the cover of the Shangri-La's Leader Of The Pack. This song was a big joke, and its video getting heavy rotation on MTV ultimately killed the band's popularity and caused the band's fans to turn their back on them, who had finally thought the band had, in a sense, sold out. You Know What We Want is a good rocker, but it's definitely a generic one, not too different from what other bands of the day were pulling off. I Believe In Rock And Roll and I Believe In You sound like blantant KISS rip-offs. The Fire Still Burns and Kill Or Be Killed sound like Dokken rip-offs. Be Chrool To Your Schuel, much like Leader Of The Pack, comes off seeming like a big joke and really lacks the potential to please most audiences. Fortunately, most of these songs are still good rockers, and songs like Lookin' Out For Number One and Out In The Streets rock with the best of 'em. Still, even the hardest rockers on here are more commercial-sounding than anything the band did in the past. While a good album, it falls flat by the band's high musical standard set by earlier releases. If you're a Twisted Sister fan who wants all the albums, by all means pick this up; you're likely to enjoy it. If you're new to the band, though, DO NOT START HERE - Stay Hungry remains the best release for new fans to start with.
The Twisted Sister albums were remastered and reissued, and in some cases, the reissues include bonus tracks in addition to the remastered sound! Unfortunately, despite the albums getting the remastering, they are very hard to find (with the exception of Stay Hungry.) Hopefully in time, they will become more readily available.
Come Out And Play is a good album, but certainly a step down from the earlier Twisted Sister releases. Where this album rocks it really rocks, but it's just too similar, in most cases, to the other popular bands of the day. Twisted Sister completists should own this, as it's a good album overall, but newbies to the band should get Stay Hungry first. While a good album, Come Out And Play isn't for you unless you're already a tried and true fan.

Twisted beginings.......2007-01-03
Twisted Sisters first album ranks close to the top only below the ever popular Stay Hungry.
Under the Blade is Raw, and has an edge to it that only came from that era.
As bands progress, their sound suffers and ultimatly falls short in the sales department due to their untimely evolution. Under the Blade is REAL Twisted and it shows.
Twisted is one of a small handful of bands that have really kept the same sound throughout their careers.
Get this CD, enjoy it, and relive the good ol' days of music.
5 stars for the music, -2 stars for the remastering job........2006-01-26
I was fortunate enough to buy the original Secret Records release on vinyl as an import from Italy back in the 80s and I am so happy that I still have it because I really don't like what was done to this album in the remastering process. All of the raw intensity has been stripped away in favor of way too much reverb on the drums and vocals, ostensibly to "clean up" the sound. UTB was not a clean-sounding album to begin with and that was part of why it succeeded so well. Sadly, this happens with way too many remasters -- reverb effects or drum triggers that did not exist in the original production are added supposedly to modernize the production and, in every case where this is done, it detracts from what made the album so great so many years ago. I don't know if a CD has ever been released with the original mixes of these tunes, so you may have no choice but to hear it only in its remastered form. Fortunately the tunes are great and, if you've never heard what the original mix sounded like, you won't know what you're missing anyway so definitely buy it on the strength of the tunes. Me...I'll stick to my vinyl copy thank you very much.
Stay Hungry pales in comparison to this one!.......2005-09-05
I probably should have said it in my first review, but I'm really a 14 year old kid using my mom's account.
My older sister had the album Stay Hungry when I was little, and I found myself listening to it quite a bit. Last Christmas I got my own copy of it, and this got me interested to see what other music Dee Snider and the gang had come out with. So, I found this album, Under the Blade. The title track caught my interest the first time I listened to the 30-second preview, and once I got my hands on the CD I found "Under the Blade" to be my all-time favorite Twisted Sister song. My other favorites on this album are "Run for your Life", "Bad Boys (of Rock N Roll)", and "Shoot Em Down".
The one and only thing that disappointed me about this album was the sound (or lack thereof) that the snare drum made. Just imagine if that sound was replaced with the roaring snare sound that they had on Love is for Suckers! It's good regardless of the snare, but I think it might have been better if they got a louder sound for when they remastered it. Everything else, I think, is top notch, except for the lyrics that were included. Like I said in my last review for Love is for Suckers, the lyrics are missing lines, have wrong words etc.
Despite these two points, Twisted Sister's debut album made it to the top of my favorites list. I think Under the Blade far outdoes Stay Hungry, even though that was TS's biggest hit.
The Twisted Sister you never knew.......2005-04-12
Under The Blade (1982.) Twisted Sister's first album.
In the eighties, Twisted Sister gained great fame as one of the most famous metal bands of the decade. There were plenty of bands in the genre that decade, but Twisted Sister stood out for a number of reasons - Whether it was the band's awkward fashion sense, singer Dee Snider standing up for free speech in music, or the sheer fact that the group took heavy metal and made it popular with all kinds of audiences, you took notice of the band, love them or hate them. But believe it or not, there was a time when the band was virtually unknown. They had been playing clubs for nearly a decade, and built up somewhat of a following, but didn't have any mainstream popularity. The band debuted in 1982 with Under The Blade. Read on for my review.
I had my doubts about what Twisted Sister's work prior to their days of popularity, and after listening to their debut, I can honestly say I was a fool to have doubts - this early album blows Stay Hungry away (and Stay Hungry is a five-star album in its own right!) The album is considerably more raw than the band's more popular work, but if anything this only makes me like the album more. Many of the tracks have that classic seventies punk rock feel to them, while many of them are straight-up, extremely aggressive hard rockers that are comparable to the heaviest bands of the day. One interesting thing to speak of on this album is the lack of ballads. Most power rock albums featured a power ballad or two, but you're not gonna get any of them on Twisted Sister's debut. Even the most melodic tracks on this album are hard rockers that don't even come close to feeling like ballads. Dee Snider's sheer aggressive nature on this album is unparalleled on any future album the band would release. In the end, this stands as a very raw and edgy album, but if anything, those are strengths.
Sadly, it seems that most of Twisted Sister's albums are now out of print. This is a shame, because Stay Hungry is the only one readily available, and they have albums that are much better - this one included. I hope the record label reissues their albums, but I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon, sadly enough.
If you're a fan of hard and heavy rock, Twisted Sister's debut album, Under The Blade, is a sheer masterpiece of the genre that must be owned. I can't believe I went so many years without knowing this side of the band even existed! I could kick myself for that. This release is highly recommended if hard and heavy rock is your thing. They don't make rock like this anymore.
An awesome debut.......2004-12-21
I have the original UK vinyl release without "I'll never grow up, now", but I wanted this CD to see the differences and have "I'll never grow up now" on CD.
This is Twisted Sister at it's rawest. The songs are heavy, Dee is constantly angry, there is no ballad anywhere in sight, and the band plays tight. The title track is an awesome nightmare of going in for surgery. I love the part "A monster stands before you now/ His mouth is open wide".
All these songs rock "Destroyer" could be the American answer to Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" and "Bad Boys of Rock n Roll" could even knock Lemmy from Motorhead back a step or two.
America should have been ashamed of itself in the early 80's. The New Wave of British Metal was a great time for music with bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, and Diamond Head hitting the scene. Did America have an answer? Heck yes, it was Twisted Sister. But they had to go to England to make it big and finally came back to copnquer the world with their third album 'Stay Hungry'.
If you want to know where it all began, well I guess you'd have to dig further than this, but if you want to hear Twisted Sister's first official release, this is it. You can play this whole album without hitting the FF>> button once. If you like the early 80's metal before hair and glam turned into a self-parody, then you got to check this album out.
One bit of trivia is that bassist Mark 'The Animal' Mendoza had a heavy and helping hand remixing this.

Remastered Plus..........2007-04-13
I liked the album to begin with, and I like it even more with the bonus songs. There is one thing everyone seems to agree upon. This is not the usual TS album. The 'Live at Wacken' extras, and I think the behind the music special, tell us that this was supposed to be a Dee Snider solo record, but the label wanted a TS album. In retrospect, after 'Come Out And Play' I think a change of pace was good for TS. That gives us 'Love Is For Suckers'. I thought the album cover was a creative illustration for the title. I have to agree that 'Wake Up (The Sleeping Giant)' and 'Yeah Right!' are the heavy hitters on this one. Wake Up could have been a huge hit had it arrived a couple years sooner. The overall content is different in its references to women/sex, but that goes with the theme of the title. The music does come across softer than previous TS offerings as well. Songs like the title track, 'Me And The Boys', 'One Bad Habit', and 'Tonight' are solid tracks. 'Hot Love', 'I'm So Hot For You', and 'You Are All That I Need', which are good songs, really represent the rock scene in the late eighties. Had Bon Jovi or Poison put these out they probably would have been hits... but Twisted Sister? Good songs, just out of character.
I really enjoyed the bonus songs. 'If That's What You Want' and 'Feel Appeal' are the strongest I would say.
I give this remastered album 4 stars. I would give the original 1987 version 3 stars.
not a review but...........2006-02-03
for you guys that do not know this....you may quote me if i am wrong....but Reb Beach from Winger played most of the guitars on this album.....
What the???! .......2005-10-08
Well i downloaded the whole record, and listened to the songs: wake up, im so hot for you, i want this night and love is for suckers, and even thought and i couldnt listen to any more of it, this is not twisted sister, this is a pop band trying to get laid....
Well some reviewer said that they dont talk as much as sex as rap, well i like rap, but the rap i like doesnt talk about sex, at least when the rappers i like talk about sex, they are not trying to get laid. I like insane clown posse, abk and tupac.. But none of them released a whole album trying to get chicks to love them. This is not the twisted sister from back in 84, their last good album was stay hungry. This album totaly sucks.
I dont know, maybe Dee Snider was on crack when he wrote this lyrics. I loved Stay Hungry, Under The Blade and even the new Still Hungry, but belive me dont buy this album if you like twisted sister, because this is not them... Its a band on crack...
Old school metal!!!!!.......2005-08-30
O.K before I begin this review, let me just say that I am a big Twisted Sister fan..makes sense since I bought this album and will take the time to review it.....so a little biased towards TS I might be...and since I have received no formal training as a music critic and could really care less about the technical aspects of the music or how proficient the bass player is in playing his instrument( I'll leave that for the true MUSIC GEEKS out there) I do care about one thing....DOES IT ROCK???...does it make me wanna stay in my car to hear the next song????...does it take me back to a time when acid wash jeans were the style and DEE SNIDER was the baddest frontman in rock???? A BIG YES TO ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!!!.....if you want music to save the world, listen to U2...if you want bad poetry put to a boring beat, listen to Coldplay...if you wanna hear some white guy pretend to be black and pick on his mom on every fckin song, listen to Eminem....but if you wanna be honest with yourself and admit that almost all of todays music sucks you will come to the same conclusion that I came to as well.....the best record i bought in 2005 was made in 1987.....LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS....now go save the world Bono!!!!
Not the kind of stuff you'd expect Dee Snider to write.......2005-08-23
I hate to agree with some of the previous reviewers...the music on this album is very good, but it's not the kind of thing you'd expect Dee Snider to write. Most of the album pretty much implies sex (but not half as much as stupid rap does). If you don't know what I'm talking about when I say that the album implies sex, then you should look up the lyrics and take a good look at them. Does "do you wanna play" from "I'm So Hot for You" ring a bell?
All in all, I love the album because the music is so good, but it bothers me that Dee Snider would end up writing songs that are completely based on sex.
Another thing that irritates me is the lyrics that were included with the album. They look like they were written by someone who was on sleeping pills! I found that some lines were missing, and the wrong words were used in the wrong places. Also, lyrics for the bonus tracks were not included, which made it hard for me to make out the lyrics properly.
One thing that I really liked about the album is new drummer Joey Franco's style. He did a lot more on the drums than A.J. Pero did, and did a couple different beats. That's not to say that A.J. Pero is a bad drummer, because he's really good too.

GREAT MUSIC! PATHETIC SOUND!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-10-18
This is one of the greatest metal albums ever recorded, which is the only reason I gave it a 3 instead of a 1, because the sound is PATHETIC!!!!!!! I have the analog, & I'm having a hard time telling the difference between the 2. In fact, the analog may sound better!!!!! If you like Twisted Sister 0r good metal, then you should own a copy of this album. BUT, DON'T be expecting a first class 24 bit remaster!!!!
Sister....as in Twisted!.......2005-11-30
When it came time to load up my i-pod, lo and behold, I took 8 of the 10 tracks from this album. Hence a review was deemed necessary. Twisted Sister were never a virtuoso band but they paid their dues in the 70s and learned how to crank out good quality metal. YCSRR has plenty of good riffs, decent solos, and the vocals of one Dee Snider. I always loved the first three rockers- The Kids Are Back, Like A Knife In The Back, Ride To Live, Live To Ride. But there are other good songs like We're Gonna Make It and I've Had Enough. The cover of The Who's I Am (I'm Me) and the ballad You're Not Alone are also good. And let's not forget the title track. I often feel the need to give the two-fingered Dio sign come chorus time, YOU CANT STOP ROCK N ROLL!
NO, YOU CAN'T.......2005-09-06
I don't have too much to say about this one. This is perfect from the beginning to the end. It's raw, it's fun, it's heavy and it has an attitude that not a lot of cd's out there have.
From "The kids are back" to "You can't stop rock'n'roll" it is a trip to the start of US metal. I might get tired to describe this one, because it's very simple and almost impossible....... it's very fun to review but you can't on this one. I'll just say that this sounds like the Rolling Stones meets Judas Priest.
God, if they had only stayed on the jeans look the history might be different today.
And one more thing, this CD deserves the honor to be the first official Heavy Metal album to include a beautiful metal ballad (maybe the first of all times) "You're Not Alone".
Highlight: OK, to skip the usual cliché that every song is great I'm gonna pick three: The Kids Are Back, I'm Am (I'm Me), You Can't Stop R'N'R, You're Not Alone (OK 4 songs and that's it!!!!).
Lowlight: The inside picture were they look like bad-paid-clowns. And Dee Snider looks like he fought with his mom on a wedding.
Great second album.......2005-09-05
I had to have this one, and I got it at last.
Looking at some of the songs online before I bought You Can't Stop Rock N Roll, the songs "Like a Knife in the Back" and "We're Gonna Make It" didn't catch my eye too much. Ironically, it turned out to be the exact opposite of this. Read on.
"The Kids are Back" was one that I liked somewhat, but it definitely wasn't my favorite on this album.
"Like a Knife in the Back" ironically turned out to be one of my favorites. I love the heavy bass-work by Mark Mendoza, and the lyrics are very good too.
"Ride to Live, Live to Ride" was one that looked good from the start, and it's also another favorite of mine.
"I Am: I'm Me" was one of the reasons I bought this album. It didn't turn out to be AS good as I thought it would, but it's still a very good song.
"The Power and the Glory" was another one of those songs that didn't look too good, but turned out to be one that I liked a lot.
"We're Gonna Make It" is another really good song, one that I had to listen to over and over a few times.
"I've Had Enough" Was so-so. I've never been in such a situation as described in the song, so I guess I can't really appreciate the meaningful lack of euphemism in the song.
"I'll Take You Alive" interested me because I like A.J. Pero's wild drum solo at the end of the song. Looking at the lyrics online before I bought the album also put it in high esteem with me.
"You're Not Alone (Suzette's Song)"...The tune is good, but I find the lyrics just a tad cliched. The "Lifetime of Endless Rain" line in particular. A decent number nonetheless.
"You Can't Stop Rock N Roll", the lovely title track. I like the great personification the Dee gave Rock N Roll. But I guess it didn't turn out like that...True Rock N Roll died out with the death of Hair Metal/Glam Rock, and was replaced by the new punk rock that, though good, will never fully replace Hair Metal. The way I see it, there is a big rift of a difference between "Punk Rock" and "Rock N Roll".
And the bonus tracks...
"One Man Woman" Now let me tell you something...Don't believe the lyrics you read on the internet for this song. They're almost completely wrong. The first line of the second verse sounds like "they love to lay down beside her", not "they'd love to lay down on the saddle" as they describe in the online lyrics. A good song, maybe something they should have considered putting as a bonus track on Love is for Suckers.
"Four Barrel Heart of Love" I haven't listened to this song much since I got the album. It's okay, but I didn't find it too interesting.
"Feel the Power" Another song where online lyrics are completely wrong! Those of you that have this album, I have a rhetorical question for you: does "we'll show you all a thing or two" (real lyrics) sound anything like "we'll show you all what we will do" (online lyrics)?!
I think the song is good, but I didn't like the chorus because it slowed down.
The biggest disappointment of this album was the remastering work. They did such a good job with Under the Blade, Stay Hungry and Love is for Suckers (I don't have Come Out and Play...yet), what happened with this one?
Save the bad remastering work, I think this album is good overall, but I suppose Stay Hungry is still the leading starter album for people who are new to Twisted Sister.
4.5 stars - An excellent sophomore release.......2005-05-05
You Can't Stop Rock And Roll (1983.) Twisted Sister's second album.
Twisted Sister broke onto the musical scene in 1982 with their hard and heavy debut album, Under The Blade. The band had begun to build up a following much earlier, as a rather popular bar room act in the New York City area. When the band tried to go mainstream, and they took on their ridiculous image, many of their old fans from the bar days turned their backs on them. Despite this, the group's debut album proved to be one of the hardest and heaviest rock and roll albums ever release - and it was a masterpiece all the way. Unfortunately, it didn't really give the band the widespread maninstream success they had wanted. The band followed it up the next year with their sophomore album, You Can't Stop Rock And Roll. Read on for my review.
Following Under The Blade being a commercial failure despite being an awesome album, Twisted Sister tried to expand their audience by commercializing their hard rock sound a good deal, while at the same time, trying to maintain their hard rock edge. That is why the group's sophomore album sounds considerably more mainstream and commercial than their debut. Unfortunately, despite the group commercializing their sound, the album failed to really improve the band's popularity outside of the lone hit the album spawned, which was the classic title track. Although still hard and heavy, this one does have more a pop-metal sound to it than the debut. One strength the album DOES have, though, over the debut, is that it's where the band really started to diversify and polish their sound. The debut was raw, straight-up heavy metal. On this album the band starts to polish the rawness out of their sound (I kind of wish they hadn't), and play more diverse music. The album has pop metal tunes, hard and heavy metal tunes, and even the group's first true power ballad, You're Not Alone. No, this isn't my favorite Twisted Sister release (the debut is likely to always hold that spot in my book), but it's still a damn fine album through and through.
Twisted Sister's albums got remastered and reissued, and the record company, in addition to expanding the liner notes and remastering the sound, included bonus tracks! In other words, if you don't own these albums yet, it's well worth buying the new versions - you get better sound, better liner notes, and above all, the excellent bonus tracks.
There really isn't much else that needs to be said here. Twisted Sister created an excellent sophomore album that would help to shape their sound for the years to come. Dee Snider and the boys were on their way to the top of the musical mainstream (they'd reach it on their next album), and this album is proof that the group was more than just "another eighties metal band." If you're a fan of the group, this is well worth the purchase. Just be sure to get the remaster!

Still Stayin' Hungry.......2007-04-08
Though it is an album known the world over, it was still a welcomed addition to my TS collection...again. I picked it up right after its release and I felt a bit nostalgic.... as though it was 1984 all over again. Dee's vocal approach to some of the songs was different, but he still has the pipes. The rest of the band hasn't missed a beat either. The extended solo on 'We're Not Gonna Take It' is awesome. I think it takes a great song and makes it even better. Just as the band took a great album and made it even better. There is a heavier sound to the production(real obvious on 'Burn In Hell'), but some songs more than others. I enjoyed the bonus songs as well- especially 'Heroes Are Hard To Find'. Being more of an old school metal fan, I didn't really care for the 'Strangeland' soundtrack. Now I have the song on a TS album. And a fine addition this album is....
Still Hungry.......2006-06-08
Don't know about the rest of you, I thought this was pretty good. Of course we all know that nothing can ever truly replace the original recordings, but the ones released on this CD do rival the originals.
1. Stay Hungry--This was okay. It would have been better off if it were faster, most definitely, but for what it is it's good. Jay Jay's solo, however, was much different--it wasn't that finger-flyin' action from the original, which irked me. Jay Jay, what happened?!
2. We're Not Gonna Take It--Absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't stand how slow this was, and the way Dee sang it. It can never compare to the original famous recording, which had the roar behind it of a band trying to make it to the top. And I think in the original recording A.J. used a ride cymbal in the famous drum beat instead of a cowbell, I definitely liked the ride better.
3. Burn in Hell--I loved this one. The background vocals sounded so much better than the original, especially with The Animal backing it up. Again, the guitar solo wasn't as wild as it was in the original recording. It's an awesome track, it just would have been SO MUCH BETTER if it was FASTER!
4. Horror Teria A) Captain Howdy B)Street Justice--This song wasn't my favorite on the original Stay Hungry, but the recording on this album made me like it. The vigilante background voices at the end of Street Justice made it sound better, as well as (again) The Animal singing a much lower part.
5. I Wanna Rock--It was good. Nothing enormously different changed my opinion on the song. It still could have been faster.
6. The Price--This dwarfs the original recording in almost every way. Firstly, A.J.'s drumming is SO MUCH BETTER because he added those massive fills in between everything. Secondly, Mark "The Animal" Mendoza's bass work on this is amazing, and you can hear it so much better. He did an awesome job on the fill solos.
7. Don't Let Me Down--I liked this one too. Now that I can hear the bass better, I have established that it is almost impossible for me to play my bass guitar as fast as The Animal does (but then again I've only been playing about ten months). Once again, not much is drastically different from the original except it's much heavier, thus making it sound better.
8. The Beast--This was one of my favorites from the beginning. The original recording always got me stomping my feet, and I always loved it--the low backing vocals again make it sound so much better than the original.
9. S.M.F.--I think this was the only one that was as fast if not faster than its original counterpart. I liked the way it sounded, although S.M.F. was never the best in my view.
10. Never Say Never--I bought this album almost for the sole purpose of hearing this song. I aboslutely loved it. I just wish I could HEAR WHAT THE HELL HE'S SAYING PROPERLY! The lyrics included in the package are preposterously inaccurate, and that just made it ore irritating that I don't know what Dee's saying. Oh well--someday I'll figure it out.
11. Blastin' Fast and Loud--I loved this one too. Once again, I couldn't hear Dee properly on a couple of the lines, and the lyrics included didn't make enough sense to possibly be what he was actually saying.
12. Come Back--This one was okay. This was Come Back's first time in the studio, and I must say the music sounds very good. There's not much to say about it (positive, negative, or otherwise).
13. Plastic Money--I can see where Dee's coming from with the Plastic Money thing. The more you play, the more you pay. Ain't it the truth. I was on the fence about this song at first, but then I came to like it. I like the way the chorus goes.
14. You Know I Cry--When I heard the live recording of this song on the CD side of Live at Wacken, I immediately knew I loved this song. Of course, the live version, having been recorded in 1980, didn't have the best sound quality, so I couldn't wait to get my hand on this CD to listen to it. It sounds better every time I listen to it.
15. Rock and Roll Saviors--I am still on the fence about this one. I honestly don't know if I like it or not. I guess it's okay.
16. Heroes are Hard to Find--This was another one that I couldn't wait to listen to. It makes a good statement, and it has a great tune.
So all in all I would recommend this CD to any Twisted Sister fan, but if you're just getting into the band I would definitely recommend getting Stay Hungry or Big Hits and Nasty Cuts first.
Of course, there is still that condemnable re-recording of We're Not Gonna Take it, which was a big disappointment, but the rest of the CD more than makes up for it. Also, for the bonus tracks--don't trust the lyrics included in the CD. If you listen to the songs closely, you'll find absurd inaccuracies in the lyrics on the page.
Well, I guess I've said all I'm gonna say. All in all, definitely four stars, maybe four and a half.
Cheers.
"Hello, it's me again the thing that wouldn't die".......2006-04-04
Stay Hungry is one of my favorite albums of the 1980s, when Twisted Sister was still considered heavy metal. The album is known for the two mega music video hits "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock" but the entire album is incredible with surprisingly intelligent lyrics ("Street Justice") and versatility (the awesome ballad "The Price"). I find it interesting that the band re-recorded the entire album and not just greatest hits. The booklet explains that the band was not happy with the "thin" sound of the original album. I guess there is a more fuller sound on Still Hungry, but, to me, they seem like straight-forward re-recordings. Not being a musician, I do not have the ear for technological details of music but, as just a fan of metal, I don't hear that much of a difference between the original recordings and these. Things that stick out for me are the extended guitar solo on "We're Not Gonna Take It," vocal changes on "Burn in Hell" (Dee Snider screams "one" in "Only one bill to pay"), a little more umph to the vocals in "Captain Howdy" and the guitar riff in "I Wanna Rock" seems different (and not as good).
The main reason to buy this album is for the "new" tracks. "Blastin' Fast and Loud" and "Never Say Never" which were written during the 1984 sessions. I thought they were recorded at that time but, according to the booklet, they were recorded in a separate session in 1999 which was a bit disappointing. When I first heard them, I thought they were just OK but, the more I listen to them, the more I like them. They are very catchy. "Come Back," "Plastic Money," "You Know I Cry," and "Rock `N Roll Saviors" are new studio recordings that had been bootlegged from live broadcasts. They are all as catchy as anything Twisted Sister has put out. "Come Back" has a sing-along-to slower tempo. "Plastic Money" rocks and has a real world message like "Street Justice." I like the different-sounding guitar solo in "You Know I Cry" "Hero's Are Hard to Find" was recorded in 2000 and was included on the StrangeLand movie soundtrack. I had not heard that track before, but what a great anthem! Another track with lyrical substance. Everything here is great! A classic album with quality extra tracks that rock!
The notes on the album cover are interesting. It was Mark Mendoza's original intention to have this style artwork on Stay Hungry that shows five starving musicians with nothing to eat dreaming of being rock stars. Technological limitations at the time prevented this idea from seeing fruition but then we wouldn't get that wonderfully tacky Stay Hungry cover we all know and love.
Let's all take a step back folks!.......2005-11-17
This release is excellent! All the people who complained we got a "rerecording" and not a new album should be thankful we got anything at all! I enjoyed Widowmaker's first release (Blood and Bullets) and I'm one of the 6 peope who found and bought Maverick's album too. (Dee's projects after TS) - I got his solo album as well and while I liked all of them, I had resigned myself that the dream was over. After listening to Stay Hungry for 20 years, and with all the albums I have, I was happy to hear they were going to rerecord it with a little more heavy feel.
It's hard, I agree, when you can hear a song for 20 years and know it backwards and forwards to hear it a bit differently, but I've enjoyed every track off this CD, especially the new ones - it's cool to hear tracks that were left off and the new track as well. I felt the same way about "This left feels right" by Bon Jovi. (Another cd I'd recommend if you stayed with Bon Jovi from the 80s till now as well)
If you're new to TS, I'd get the original so you could hear it the way we did 2 decades ago, but don't forget about this one down the road so you can hear some more of what they've left out and what they've changed.
And for everyone else, let's hope that this rekindles some fires and we get a new album from TS in '06! Just one more for this SMF!!!
SMF for life!
Stay wealthy, keep your money.......2005-09-27
This band is the one that led me on the road to love rock, then hard rock, and the on to metal. So excited to see this release and so devastated to hear the actual cd. I think what happened here was Twisted, being in their fifties, forgot how to play their instruments. Dee Snider says "This how we really wanted to record the album". What all crappy with too much bottom. Oh yeah, lets also slow the tempo down to about half of what it was. Do not buy this. It's not even worth the listen. Just buy the original and pretend this drink coaster never happened.

Twisted Sister's sophomore album.......2005-06-01
I Love these Sick Mutha's Twisted Flubbers.......2005-04-07

before they got Hungry, and before they came out and played!.......2004-03-05
This is kinda the "Forgotten" TS album, but a very good one!Every track is good,I think The Kids are Back, and the title cut, stick out as the class of the CD,but there is some other good stuff on this album as well, check it out,you won't regret the purchase!Check out their "Come out and Play" album, also,if you like the Sister,in my opinion, that is the best Twisted album EVER!But again this album "You Can't Stop..." REALLY ROCKS!,and will delite Hard Rockers Galore!
You Can't Stop Rock n' Roll.......2004-02-25
I picked up YCSRnR just after getting Stay Hungry 20 years ago..1984, which basically introduced me to the Twisted World of The Sister ! They still rate as one of my all-time fav bands!
And although Stay Hungry deserves all the success and attention it gets, I'd have to say that somehow I think thier previous effort 'You Can't Stop Rock n' Roll' is even better, it's strange but true...
Included on the Remastered Cd you'll find three extra tracks that any serious TS fan will enjoy but don't stand along the classic yet underated tracks that are included on YCSRR...My favs other than the 3 which are on 'Big Hits' are 'Like A Knife in the Back, We're Gonna Make It & You're Not Alone'
Highly reccommended Cd for any TRUE SMF out there and I know you won't be dissappointed.
Feel the Power of TS
TS at their best.......2003-07-05
To me, this album was Twisted Sister's best. It represents the band's raw power before their commercial success.

Something for Florida to be proud about:.......2006-04-17
Escape from Cape Coma. A lasting landmark from a great band out of my home state, Florida. These guys were amazing live and their CD barely begins to touch their energy and presence as a band.
The lyrics may seem trite at times but just sitting back and listening to this CD generates an awesome experience as you move up and down with the intensity.
Stand-out tracks are: Shine and Reach (which has always been my favorite song of theirs.)
Was my fave band........2006-01-23
Twisted method were my favourite band, the lead singer's crazyness onstage and singing voice/screams, not to mention the nuts guitarplayer
well anyways, now twisted method has long and gone, the guitarplayer Andy died R.I.P. but still buy this cd in memory

2. Fled, props for tripp's vocal work in this and catchy ass chorus 5/5
3. Reach, the guitar is awesome, vocals and chorus are awesome 4/5
4. Change me, my fave song on the cd and crazy guitar and vocals 6/5
5. Inside out, mostly just a filler track but you get used to it and nuts guitar on it 3/5
6. Mannequin, all i gotta say is tripp has anger problems 2/5
7. Awkward silence, the vocals and lyrics are probably the best on this song and all but i say the song could of been better 4/5
8. Panic, short but very good, great drums and guitar and vocals 5/5
9. Shine, my 2nd fave track on the cd, great guitar 5/5
10. Rot, another anger problem of tripps 2/5

Anything but a coma.......2005-12-29
First off, I'd like to ask people who don't like a certain type of music to not review that type of music. For example, if you don't like so-called "nu-metal" (I hate that term), don't review nu-metal cds. Obviously you won't like any cd of that genre, so your opinion is not helpful to anyone considering purchasing that album. I don't like rap, so I don't review those cds because I would rate them all one star. Be sure to check out all of a reviewer's previous reviews to make sure they know what they are talking about, and like the same things you do before trusting their judgement. Also, I've seen numerous reviewers say this band sounds like Slipknot. I own all of Slipknot's cds, so I can confidently say that in no way do Twisted Method sound like them. Enough of my beefs with other reviews, now on to my own.
I picked up this cd on a hunch, and I can't believe I got so lucky. I often go out on a limb and buy cds from bands I have heard little or nothing from, so when I listen to the cd I have an open mind. After listening to this disc all the way through, I instantly knew I found something special. Twisted Method is so much better than all the bands they are often lumped together with. The first two songs come out blasting, and are just average. However, after that, every other song on the album is great. This band has a good range, and though some people may not like his style, I think the singer's voice really works well with the music. This band is not the most innovative in the world, but I'm one who believes that a band doesn't necessarily have to break new ground to be good. They really put everything they have into their music, and there is no sign of an attempt at mainstreaming their songs. They play the music exactly how they want it, and if you don't like it, too bad.
If you like music that blends heavy guitar and hard vocals with softer music and vocals without feeling forced or out of place, this is a band you should try out. If you don't believe me, download "Awkward Silence", "Inside Out", "Faceless", and "Reach". This will give you a really good idea of what this band is all about. If you like those songs, you will like the album, and I encourage you to support the band by purchasing it.
To give you an idea of my taste in music, some of my favorite bands with fairly recent releases are (in no order): Fear Factory, Soil, Rob Zombie, Black Label Society, Flaw, Ill Nino, Mushroomhead, and Slipknot.
Escape to cape coma........yay.......2005-06-16
I've wanted this album for ages, and I still don't have it but I plan to buy it very soon........anyway. This album is sooooo cool, Twisted Method are a really amazing band. I don't think they're greatly known in the UK,as they never come over here to do any shows, apart from a few years back they did Ozzfest with Dope, Adema and Motograter. Anyway, for all you skeptical, disbelieving people that don't think that Twisted Method are anything great, you are soooooo incredibly wrong!!!!
Ok, I take that back, I know that reviews are just down to personal opinions, but I really do think that Twisted Method are a great band, they're different, and they've tried hard to be where they are now.
I think that me and all the other twisted method fans out there should just convert everyone lol. Ok, so that's not going to happen, but it bugs me when a good band don't get recognized as much as they should lol, but again, it's just down to my personal opinion.
Anyway, onto the album. It's a very good album and is worth having. I love Tripps voice, he sounds great!!!
Standout tracks to listen to if any:
End is quite a good song.
Reach is a cool song.
Change me and Inside out are both amazing songs, and I think they're two of the best on the album, they're both so kick ass and having amazing chorus'! I can't stress enough how cool these two songs are.
Shine is quite good, a pretty average song.
Rot is a good song.
Newborn and Faceless are really good songs.
Last thing to say is "Fled" is one of the craziest songs I have ever heard lol.
The music on this album is very good, especially the guitars!!
Also, if you're going to listen to any of the tracks on the album, I strongly suggest Change me and Inside out. :-)
Ripoff Band.......2005-04-01
Heck, I listen to all types of metal, punk and hardcore (not that poppy crap), but this? I feel embarrassed listening to this unoriginal material. Seriously, these guys need to lay off the F-bomb. This is garbage from yet another lame second stage band on Ozzfest 2003. Yes, there were good bands on Ozzfest 2003: Korn, Disturbed, Chevelle, Nothingface (R.I.P.), and such, but this is one of those bands that only releases one album and breaks up after they realize how much they suck. I don't know if these guys broke up, but they need to. Their material sounds like yet another Slipknot ripoff. The intro to "The End" copies Slipknot's "Surfacing", and the vocalist has a s**tty stilleto voice. Talk about lame! Don't buy this crap. Slipknot is a quadrillion times better than these Linkin Park wannabe f**kwads.
