This collection was not chosen well. The band's early years are covered well, but the still-in-print No Remorse is a much better collection of the early years. This collection skimps on the last 12 years worth of Motorhead, with only one selection each (and never the best) from fan favorite albums like 1916, Sacrifice and Snake Bite Love. Space is also wasted on a track by Girlschool (covering a Motorhead song) and a song by leader Lemmy's previous band, Hawkwind.

If you want a sampling of Motorhead, No Remorse covers the first 8 years well. In addition, where is beautiful ballads?

I would highly suggest this for someone who likes the band and doesn't want to have to buy a lot of cds to get a lot of motorhead. They have a huge catalog and unless you're die hard you should be satisfied with this.

Multiple obvious incorrect choices for a greatest hits. You would think that they could get all the best with 40-45 songs to work with but they didn't. Too many earlier songs with Lemmy's other bands and too many crowd favorites that aren't as good on CD as they are live. Still entertaining as all Motorhead albums are, but somewhat lacking.

4 out of 5 stars Strong Collection for One of Metal's Greats........2006-08-07

There have been innumerable Motorhead collections over the years, but this is one of the few that attempts to mix old with the new. On this collection, all the classics are present, and some newer material is thrown in as well. Unfortunately, there are some throw-away tracks, mainly the Girlscool and Headgirl tracks. (To be honest, these tracks are pretty much worthless.) Some live tracks are meshed in and fit well, and the newer songs help to add some variety to the old-scool stuff.

I would recommend this collection to listeners looking to get a nice, cheap collection of some of Motorhead's best just for the sake of getting into the band. But if you're wanting the prime collection of older material, save up some extra dough and buy "No Remorse" or "Stone Deaf Forever."

Just before I bought this I found an special version of Overkill with some bonus tracks. I expected this disc as a complement for that amazing special edition of my favorite Motorhead disc, but it was disaponting. From my point of view, it doesn't have some of the great songs like "Don't let dady kiss me" and more. Besides this includes Motorhead's version played for other groups, wasn't a Motorhead compilation? Not a good compilation of this cutting edge metal group.

All The Aces (2001.) One of Motorhead's many hits compilations, which features a bonus disc of rare pre-Motorhead material from members of the band.

Motorhead. These guys are the gods of classic heavy metal, and there is no debating it. If it wasn't for these guys, it's not likely that the British metal uprising of the early eighties or even the whole eighties metal thing in the United States would ever have taken place. The band has shaped the genre from their earliest known days. Over the years, the band has released a lot of hits compilations. For this one, the band did a typical "best of", and threw in a disc of pre-Motorhead rarities as a bonus! How does this compilation, entitled All The Aces, measure up? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-ALL THE BIG HITS THAT CASUAL FANS KNOW AND LOVE ARE HERE. The band's biggest hit of all, the classic Ace Of Spaces, is here for your listening pleasure, as are the other hits, including Motorhead and Overkill.
-THE SET ALSO GIVES YOU UNDERRATED TRACKS. No Class and Bomber are among the severely underrated little gems that you'll get in this set, and they're well worth listening to.
-YOU GET A BONUS DISC OF MATERIAL! The set features a disc of rarities entitled the Muggers' Tapes - tapes from a band that some Motorhead members participated in prior to the formation of the band.
-ENHANCED CD EXTRAS. If you've got a computer, you can view some live performance music videos from the band! It's a nice extra if you own a computer.

CONS:
-TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON THE A-SIDE SINGLES, NOT ENOUGH ON THE LESSER-KNOWN STUFF AND THE B-SIDES. Because of this, the compilation lacks one of the band's finest underrated masterpieces - Dirty Love. And that's not the only hidden gem the set lacks.
-SOME SURPRISING OMISSIONS. Where the hell is Stone Dead Forever, one of the band's biggest hits? What about Vibrator and Lost Johnny from the band's debut? Whoever compiled this set could have used some major help!
-THE "EXTRAS" DISC IS FLAT OUT TERRIBLE! The Muggers' Tapes don't even include Lemmy Kilmister, so they are NOT going to appeal to most fans of the band. Likewise, the sound quality is horrendous. Basically, it's horrible-sounding junk that isn't even really Motorhead.

OVERALL:
To put it in simplest terms possible, Motorhead has better hits compilations out there, the best of which being the two-disc Very Best Of Motorhead. Get THAT set instead. This is a set that had potential, but its potential is ultimately ruined by its flaws and the awful second disc. If you find this set in the budget bin, go for it. Otherwise, shell out the extra cash and get the two-disc Best Of.

This collection is awesome, its almost like i hand picked it myself. Any rock fan can find 4 or 5 classics on this disc. if you are a hard rock fan you will love them all. The best stuff for probably the most underated act of all time.Buy this first and start collecting others like ace of Spades,iron Fist and Anorther Perfect Day!

I am not a long time Motorhead fan but I am a fan of righteous hard rock from way back. Lemmy and company have been sneaking up on me for the last several years and I finally made the plunge and bought this Best Of.

Killed By Death, Ace of Spades, Dead Men Tell No Tales and the rest are undeniable. These guys are mining the rock and roll mainline, I salute you.

Have to dock it one star because there are essential tracks not included here but all and all, I am well pleased.

Ok lets start off by saying that motorhead are the gods of speed thrash metal. Now the way this album starts off is with the skullcrushing song IRON FIST and end with another killer song IRON HORSE/BORN TO LOSE and if you dont enjoy this album or band than you suck!!

Without Motorhead, there would be no Metallica, Slayer or Testament. It's pretty obvious. Motorhead laid down the rules for the thrash metal movement that would engulf metal music in the early to mid 80's. Their music is very fast, very brash punk/metal. I enjoy this band's approach greatly. This compilation is a good one of early Motorhead. There is only one con: only one song from Ace Of Spades is featured, the title track. Since Ace Of Spades was the band's most famous work, they should have put at least three songs from it on here. But that is the only con. This is a great beginning to one of metal's most influential bands. I f you are interested in hearing very early thrash metal, this would be a perfect choice.

There is an EXCELLENT selection of tracks from Motorhead's early albums on this CD. I was especially pleased that "Stay Clean" is included, (it is omitted from the 40-track Best of Motorhead released in 2002).

If you want an economical way to collect Motorhead's best material, then this is the way to go. You will not be disappointed by what you find here!

A Decent collection of songs comprised of songs from their Epic Records releases "1916" & "March or Die" , as well two previously unreleased tracks. The line-up featured here is Wurzel & Phil Campbell on guitar, Philthy Animal Taylor on drums (Mikkey Dee also plays on a track), and of course, on the bass guitar and lead vocals, Mr Lemmy Kilmister. Not a must-have for the average fan, but a nice addition to the collection for the die-hard Motorhead-bangers!

This is a compilation of songs from 2 albums: 1916 and March Or Die. 1916 is a great album that every Motorhead fan should own. March Or Die is not. The 2 best songs from March Or Die aren't even on this CD! ("Stand" and "Name In Vain"). The only reason to buy this is for the 2 songs "Eagle Rock" and "Dead Man's Hand", 2 songs recorded during the 1916 sessions but only previously available on "The One To Sing The Blues" 12" single. THESE TWO SONGS ARE GREAT and should have made the 1916 album. anyway, if you can't find the aforementioned 12" single, then you unfortunately need this CD.
