4 out of 5 stars Great '80s Compiliation!.......2005-12-12

Ah the '80s!! Cool videos on MTV, hot chicks in tight fitting clothing and great music! If you like heavy metal music then you will love this great collection. What makes this CD great is not only are the best known bands from the '80s here (Poison, Scorpions and Ratt) this CD also contains some awesome tunes (Never Enough and Blind In Texas) from lesser known bands (L.A Guns and W.A.S.P.). If you remember how fun it was to rock out in the '80s or want to see just how great it was then pick up this terrific collection!

5 out of 5 stars Good compilation of 80's metal.......2004-03-27

I think that this CD out of the Youth Gone Wild collection has the best known songs and you sometimes hear those songs on classic rock radio and the best known hits on this CD is Scorpions' Rock You Like a Hurricane, Poison's Talk Dirty to Me, Quiet Riot's Cum on Feel the Noize and Twisted Sister's Were Not Gonna Take It, the other noteworthy songs is Motorhead's Ace of Spades, Krokus's Screaming in the Night, WASP's Blind in Texas and Ratt's Lay it Down, the only song that doesn't fit in the category is Rainbow's Street of Dreams cause the song is too mellow to be on here, I would've chose Death Alley Driver instead or Stone Cold, I would love to put Rainbow's Man on the Silver Mountain but that song originally came out in 1975 and there would be 2 songs sung by Ronnie James Dio on this compilation but don't let that discourage you, if you're a casual fan of old school metal then this CD is a must have.(...)

4 out of 5 stars bang for your buck.......2004-01-08

here we have a compilation of songs that you wouldn't run out and buy on the original releases.the quiet riot,dio,w.a.s.p. and accept stand out as the strongest tracks and are arguably the best from the respective bands.y&t and rainbow are also strong but not the best from those two bands.you could do without the poison and the motorhead, but thats pretty obvious.

5 out of 5 stars 80s Hair Metal at its Best.......2002-06-19

This is one of a set of four compilation discs which do this genre of music a huge favor by showcasing some of the best music of the time. Many high points! This CD, along with the other three volumes will not disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars Heavy Metal Hits of the 80's, Vol. 1 (various artists).......2000-09-20

5 out of 5 stars Gotta let go if you really wanna rock tonight.......2003-02-24

This CD is awesome, I'll never forget the first time I bought this CD and cranked it up with headphones and everything, I was blown away when I heard Great White's Rock Me and Yngwie Malmsteen's Heaven Tonight and boy those songs are ... awesome and the same with the lesser known Lita Ford's Gotta Let Go and the underrated I'm Onto You by Hurricane, it should've been a Top 30 hit but oh well, you also probably remember Europe who scored a Top 10 hit with Final Countdown and the late great obnoxious Sam Kinison with Wild Thing, it's hell lot better than the original cause it reminds me of the first time I heard of that song around Christmas of 1988 and I only got to hear it like once or twice but I didn't hear it again until when I bought this CD in January of '99 when I was a senior in high school, too bad that they don't make music the way they used to and the 1980's will always be unforgettable.

4 out of 5 stars Almost a 5!.......2001-05-16

Even though I really only bought the cd for 5 songs, those songs are almost enough to give this one 5 stars. Rock Me, The Final Countdown, Seventeen, Edge of a Broken Heart and of course, Wild Thing are awesome songs! Especially Wild Thing. The late Sam Kinison did very well on this song!

5 out of 5 stars well worth the $$.......2004-01-08

first off, bullet boys, bang tango, girlschool and dangerous toys alone are worth the price of admission.after that you throw in mr. big,love/hate and helix and you have one smoking compilation.

4 out of 5 stars Great Heavy Metal Disc.......2003-10-11

Although this CD isn't quite as good as the first two volumes but it's still worth adding on to your music collection, even if you're a casual 80's metal fan and I wish that those songs would still get to be on the radio airwaves and I think that if they have a music channel for 80's/90's hard rock, they should call it PowerRock.

Whitesnake: Still of the Night
This song is a killer classic, one of the best guitar solos in hard rock history and this song is a great way to start off of this CD, I love the outro chorus to this song.

Cinderella: Gypsy Road
I think that Cinderella is actually a well talented band cause they do a good job playing bluesy metal.

D.A.D.: Sleeping My Day Away
This song only sticks out as just an average metal song and they sound a bit too Def Leppardish (no disrespect or anything) it's just not one of the better songs of this CD.

White Lion: Wait
I remember that when I bought this CD, it was the first time that I've heard of this song is years and I'm glad that this song was a Top 10 hit although it deserves more radio airplay than what it gets, Vito Bratta is a really good guitar player and I love the solos on this song.

Bang Tango: Someone Like You
One of the more overlooked bands in metal history, although the singer isn't that great but the guitar solos easily make up for it.

Fastway: Say What You Will
It's a shame that Fastway didn't achieve the hard earned success that they truly deserved, Fastway was actually a supergroup of former members of Motorhead, UFO and Humble Pie, great guitars and good vocals, one of the best songs.

Raging Slab: Don't Dog Me
Again one of the overlooked metal bands, I like the guitar solos and this group reminds me of a combination of Molly Hatchet meets Motorhead and this group should've gotten greater success than what they've gotten.

Kingdom Come: Get it On
Never cared too much for this band, sorry. The singer sounds a bit too much like Robert Plant, just never really got into this band that much.

Helix: Heavy Metal Love
This song kicks butt and it's a bit kind of unfortunate that they didn't achieve the hard earned success that they deserved and I love the opening to this song, and Helix was one of the heaviest bands ever to come out of Canada.

Love/Hate: Rock Queen
Okay to admit it, this song is kind of weird but I like this song alot but my only complaint is that it's way to short (only 2:20) and the choruses are fun to sing along to.

Dangerous Toys: Scared
Another classic metal song, but at least that it clocks in at a respectable 4:03 and the guitars are good and I hope to hear it on the radio someday.

Bulletboys: Smooth Up in Ya
Not one of my favorites, the singer sounds a bit too much like a cross between of David Lee Roth and Axl Rose but the background vocals are great though.

Britny Fox: Girlschool
Probably the most prettiest of the hair bands and when I first seen or heard of this band, I thought that it was going to be a girl metal group but I was wrong and those guys sure look like a bunch of beautiful girls with a bad attitude.

Mr. Big: Addicted to That Rush
If you're expecting them to sound like the way they did on 'To Be With You'? Guess Again cause this song is a great free for all jam and it's a great way to end the album.

I'm glad that I bought this CD and if they're gonna make Youth Gone Wild: Heavy Metal Hits of the 80's Vol. 5, the songs that I would put on are.............................................

Skid Row: Youth Gone Wild
Motley Crue: Dr. Feelgood
Contraband: All the Way From Memphis
Axe: Heat in the Street
Living Colour: Cult of Personality
Iron Maiden: The Trooper
Sound Barrier: Rock Without the Roll
Mama's Boys: If the Kids Are United
Kick Axe: On the Road to Rock
Hear 'N Aid: Stars
Wolfsbane: I Like it Hot
Kix: Blow My Fuse
Keel: Because the Night
Black 'N' Blue: Hold On to 18
Girlschool: Hit 'N' Run
King Kobra: Hunger

5 out of 5 stars all KILLER, no FILLER........1999-10-05

I couldn't resist being the first person to review this excellent compilation, the best one I have ever heard. This is a great introduction to some of the lesser known bands of the 80's. A great listen from start to finish. This album has led on to many CD purchases from bands featured here. BUY IT. IT ROCKS!

5 out of 5 stars 80's Music...There Was Nothing Else Quite Like It!.......2006-07-15

After reviewing the artists listed in the 4 volumes of this collection I realized how many artists were not represented. Following the example listed by Darian Dennison in his review of Volume 3 I actually created Bonus Disks for Volumes 1-4 and added some additional tracks to those as well so that each volume has 17 tracks for a total of 136 songs. I didn't always pick the most popular song by an artist, personal taste and a good deal of variety makes each one enjoyable.

Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien
Killer Dwarfs - Stand Tall (Stick To Your Guns)
Survivor - Burning Heart
Thin Lizzy - The Sun Goes Down
Triumph - Cool Down
Warlock - Kiss Of Death

Some of these tracks are heavier, like Metallica, Megadeth, Armored Saint, and Biohazard, while tracks represented by Giuffria, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, and Loverboy are a little more mellow. There are a few artists in my additions that were actually released in 1990, to me that is just when they got in the studio, they still had the right sound for this collection.

I loved the 80's, I had to dig into the old cassette cases and find these tracks to make my collection complete but it was worth it...I struggled finding tracks by J. Giels Band, The Cars, and Bachman Turner Overdrive that had the right sound released in the 80's, and Ted Nugent - Strangers as well as Heart - The Wolf would have been nice additions, but there is no more room.

4 out of 5 stars Final entry to the series.......2003-12-07

I think that this is a great series for a old school metal fan that loves those 80's metal music and if you're a casual fan of 80's metal, get the first 2 volumes and work your way up, this is a great collection for those who can afford all of those 80's metal albums.

Slaughter: Up All Night
A perfect way to start off the collection, a little trivia heavy metal trivia: Most of the band members were from Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

E'Nuff Z'Nuff: New Thing
A little too poppy to be on here but it's not a bad song and when I first heard of this song I used to think that those were girls that were in this band.

TNT: 10,000 Lovers In One
This a great song from the 80's and this band should've made it huge and this was their only moderate hit, a little trivia: The singer is American but the remaining band members are Norwegian.

Tora Tora: Walkin' Shoes
A good piece of metal with a bluesy tone, this song deserves more recognition on the radio.

Every Mother's Nightmare: Walls Come Down
An epic song which a little intro at the beginning, those guys have talent and it's a shame that those guys didn't make it huge.

Danger Danger: Naughty Naughty
Although a bit too poppy but this song has a great chorus and it's a bit offensive for the children.

Warrant: Down Boys
One of the most successful hair bands of the period but not one of my favorite songs.

D'Molls: D'Stroll
I never really cared much for this song, just never got into it.

Junkyard: Hollywood
A bluesy metal band that is a combination of Molly Hatchet and AC-DC.

Shotgun Messiah: Heartbreak Blvd
This is a fun song to listen to due to how laid back it is about being heartbroken, a little trivia: This song came out during the end of the metal wave right before the grunge era became huge in January of 1992.

Pretty Maids: Future World
This is one of my favorite metal bands of the 80's cause I love the intro to this song and those guys should've had greater success than what they got.

Heathen: Set Me Free
This is actually a remake from Sweet and it's a killer song, and once again it's a shame that they didn't have the hard earned success that they truly deserved, those guys are just are good as Metallica or Megadeth.

Leatherwolf: The Calling
I never really thought highly of this song although it has a good chorus, just not much to say about this song.

Autograph: Turn Up The Radio
This is an awesome song and I'm glad that this song was a Top 40 hit and I actually still hear this song on the radio once in awhile, this song was actually a big hit back in the mid 1980's.

Metal Church: Badlands
This is actually the longest song on the Youth Gone Wild series and it beats Great White's Rock Me by just 4 seconds, an interesting fact: Those guys are actually from Burien, WA which is just south of Seattle.

Stryper: To Hell With the Devil
This is a fun song to listen to and this song has a great message and it's one place where I don't want to be when I die, that's for sure.

I'm glad that I bought this CD and it's actually pretty hard to find, any classic metal fan should own this CD.

4 out of 5 stars deep cuts from teh 80's.......2003-07-18

beyond the obvious slaughter and enuff z'nuff songs, much of this disc is more obscure tunes from the 80's.at the time i can recall hearing these songs on the radio in semi-often rotation.junkyard and every mothers nightmare were pretty coll bands.there was so many bands around at the time alot of these did'nt stay on the airwaves.a good collection though.

3 out of 5 stars Still good, but the first three volumes are better.......2002-08-20

The fourth volume in the series shows that the well was starting to run dry for the 80's glam metal compilation. Of the 16 songs here, the tunes by Warrant, Slaughter, and Autograph are all bona fide classics of the era. Elsewhere, Tora Tora, Enuff Z'Nuff, Danger Danger, and Junkyard have excellent songs that were briefly in regular rotation on MTV. Most everything else is quite a bit heavier than typical 80's fare, and probably got some air time on "Headbangers Ball" and likely no place else. Other than Metal Church or Stryper, I can't even recall most of these bands even being the opening act on tour for any major band.

That's not to say that these songs aren't GOOD, it's just that if you're throwing a big 80's metal party and want to throw on your "Youth Gone Wild" CD's, this is the disc that people won't recognize most of the songs from. Having said that, if you're a big fan of hair/glam/cheeze metal, then TNT's "10,000 Lovers (In One)" is quite possibly the best song you've never heard. Kinda makes you wish you'd caught it when it first came out back in the late 80's. That song along with front line tunes like "Up All Night", "Down Boys", and "Turn Up The Radio" make this one worth owning. The rest is good for historical reference, but I can guarantee I'll never be rummaging through my collection and say "Hey, `Future World' - there's a song I've been dying to hear."

5 out of 5 stars Best of the Best.......2000-01-08

These cd's are great. They give a great overview of some awesome songs of the 80's glam rock period. They also have a few songs that I was not aware of. They really turned me on to some lesser known bands. Five Stars forthis cd and all the rest in the series.
